Shikami had went to visit the Mizukage to turn in his reports on active shinobi. Sadly it would seem the numbers had dwindled due to either retiring or going AWOL. Shikami had walked in to the office to see the hat sitting on the desk. Shikami's Heart dropped as he also looked at the letter next to the hat. Time seemed to move slowly even though Shikami walked over at normal pace, and he would take the time to read the letter that was left behind by the Mizukage, Gonk. The letter was woeful and made Shikami sad. He felt this was all somehow his fault for not taking the mantle upon himself. Instead he practically forced Gonk to being the only option that was left. Shikami had been wrestling with the very idea of cleaning out the village and letting the people flourish elsewhere. Here he had an oppertunity to do something for the people. Would he Take the hat or do the thing he had thought about. Shikami sat in the seat and gave it some thought as time passed.

Before long he felt like he knew what he had to do. It was better to inform the people and evacuate them , and inform the shinobi what he was doing . However there was only one way to get them to listen and take him seriously without making them risk their lives. He would pick up the hat and walk out to the receptionist. He would tell her to send a message out immediately, The Mizukage Gonk was gone, and that Shikami would be taking the mantle of Kage if there was no one to oppose him taking the position that was.

However Shikami stood there looking at the recent reports, there was not much of anyone left who could oppose him. Not power wise, but rather Ranking wise, It would seem Shikami was one of the highest ranking shinobi left in the village.

After some time, a meeting had been held among the rest of the high ranking people, and it was all agreed upon, no one would be opposing Shikami in his rule as Mizukage. Since the last Mizukage committed suicide, this was not a hostile takeover, but a new start with a new Kage who , seemed to have no choice in the matter due to certain circumstances. Shikami would place the hat on his head and begin his reign as Mizukage. Shikami would immediately begin his rule as Mizukage with checking on certain aspects. Shinobi numbers, Defenses that were active, and ones that needed to be updated. Shikami would immediately begin this work. Meanwhile as Shikami went through paperwork to file out ninja gone and the such. Shikami would stumble upon a folder for the old Mizukage Aloide himself. The handwriting was relatively the same till a certain point, this handwriting matched what he had seen from the previous Mizukage Murata. It would seem that Aloide had went to do a rather Heinous thing on his own accord. Inciting war with Hoshigakure. It would seem he took a prisoner from Sunagakure with him on this trip.

With a Sigh Shikami would close the folder up and began to write a series of letters to the Lord Hogokage and Lord Kazekage. The Letters Reading as such:

Dear Lord Kage, My name is Shikami Shinkou, and I am the fifth Mizukage . As I ascend to this place with heavy head since Lord Fourth committed Seppuku I have come across some terrible news. I have found that Lord second Mizukage Aloide had taken a prisoner from Sunagakure and attacked Hoshigakure. I wish to put forth formal apologies to both of you lord for this. At this time I do know that Kirigakure would not like to go to war with either party. If we can make sure to come to some mutual agreement to ensure that the people do not have to undergo another Kage change too soon and also their own lives be kept. Than for all of our people. Let us handle this like proper Kage and get this swept under the rug. Lord Aloide acted upon his own accord and this does not reflect the wishes of Kirigakure at this time. A letter in return as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated to let me know what to expect. Yours Sincerly, Lord Fifth Mizukage Shikami Shinkou.

With the two copies of the one letter written , Two birds would be sent off to their respective villages that needed to obtain the letters. As Shikami walked away he began to rub his forehead with a sigh. This was not what he needed to find in his first few hours as Mizukage. Having to subvert a war started by several predecessors before him. Why would Lord Second do that, would it not be rash to go with such a small force and one of them being a prisoner at that.

Shikami would than sit down back at his desk and began to think things over. He would summon the captain of the guard to have him push out the message to not worry about evacuating, however the people should rally together. Today would be a celebration of life for the lord mizukage Gonk. Shikami would finish up the work he was doing for the day. He was finalizing the orders to update the communication squad, and to install the final upgrade that the village needed, and setting forth a bonus for signing up to become a shinobi of Kirigakure. Even setting forth a small boost to the current shinobi and bonuses upon rank ups. Shikami would than leave the office, Hat on head, robe over his regular clothes. He would make himself known to the village as their new kage. So they would know who they could come to with their troubles .
