The Missions:

Now that Canary had completed her Genin Exam and passed it successfully it was time to start her new role as an active member of the shinobi force in Tanbogakure. The state of the village wasn’t good in any form for those living in the village, they had been attacked by an unknown Missing Ninja who took the body of one of the gate guard for some sick jutsu or technique by the accounts of those who were there. The Hokage from Konohagakure came and killed some other Missing Ninja and requested Ryo for the job and then left, Canary only heard the rumor on this one as people talked about it quite a bit when it came to seeing our own Kage go out there and negotiate with the Hokage.

Lets just say things were tense and people were doing what they could to keep themselves busy and try and capture that feeling of normalcy once more. So here Canary was about to do a slew of missions to help return the public order to the village and hopefully help her fellow villagers to regain some peace in their lives. The first mission that Canary had undertaken was a request to help with the volatile customers that had been causing some issues for the owners and other customers. They seemed to be apart of the Zukumiki group that has been known to cause issues from time to time for the village. Canary was suppose to bring the criminal in for questioning to be done but the higher ranked security force.

So Canary made the travel to the bar in question, she did garner quite the few stares on her entrance as she was as small child of 7 in a drinking establishment. Though once she showed her headband and that she was a qualified Genin the owner was more receptive to her help. Canary questioned the owner on the show up times of the trouble maker and various other information to help gain an understanding and to be able to make a plan that would lead to a successful capture. What she had learned is that the man in question was typically alone and usually started drinking in a corner by himself till he got to drunk and started being loud and obnoxious picking fights with people closer to his table and bragging about his group affiliation.

Canary planned to use this moment of soberness to drunkness to get close to the table in question as the man drunk his worries and troubles away and once there had been a moment that came over the man that he was being visible upset Canary quickly called out distracting the man to look away from her direction and slammed his head upon the table. Typically if the man was sober and not distracted Canary wouldn’t have the strength or chance to make this happen. She was just glad that an intoxicated person was much easier to knock out. She tied up the man and had the owner call the others to pick him up as she wasn’t going to bother trying to drag him all the way to the holding cells.

Once she had confirmed the success and transfer of the prisoner she moved onto her next mission.

Now it was time to knock out the next mission, this one called for some help at the local Animal Adoption center. The request just mentioned needing some help and that the worker there would further explain what was needed from whoever showed up. Canary was a bit more excited to deal with this kind of mission because she hoped it meant she would get to interact and play with some of the animals that were housed there. She wasn’t quite allowed to have pets at her home at the time but she did hope to someday have a pet of her own. Until then she would gladly help out at the Center if it means she gets to help the animals there.

Showing up to the center she could tell it needed a lot of work done to the building as it seemed that the center had fallen on some hard times and probably poor budgeting. This did make Canary wonder if this was a privately ran establishment or if it was funded by the village itself as a type of charity system. Regardless of how it was being funded it was clear that it needed more funds or more hands to help maintain the building and those in it.

She rung the bell on the counter and when the young man working there noticed her he inquired if she was here to adopt a pet or something and when Canary produced the request slip and her own identification of being a Genin of the village he had a look of surprise on his face. After all it wasn’t to often you met a genin of her age especially not in this village. Regardless the young man explained that they needed help repairing one of the walls that had gotten small hole in it that was big enough for some of their animals to escape from and that she would be expected to locate the missing cat and dog that had made their prison break earlier that day. The young man said they never go far from the building but he wasn’t able to leave as someone needed to watch the building.

So Canary gathered the needed material for fixing the hole in the wall first cutting away and crumbling parts and replacing them with plywood and then using plaster to hide the cracks and reinforce the wall after nailing the wood covering the hole. Once she had finished this part the wall looked almost brand new and definitely looked weird compared to the rest of the wall being of older wood, plaster and paint, moving on this part of the mission was done and as such Canary went about the local area in search of the two missing animals. She was told they had red collars with bright yellow tags that had the adoption centers information on it so they would be easy to find, and easy to find they were as she found the dog had tree’d the cat and after retrieving the cat from the tree and leashing the dog she made her way back to the adoption center and put them back in their cages.

After getting the approval of the young man for completing the request as needed, she left the center and headed off to her next mission location.

The next mission that Canary was to undertake was a request that came from the local Painter’s Guild that needed some help with maintenance of their tools and such. This was more of the helpful to the village side of being a shinobi that Canary was seeing, it made sense to have those starting out to work their way through helpful missions and requests pertaining to improving relationships between the Shinobi forces and the common villager. Builds that trust and bond between the two facets of the village hopefully promoting growth overall, as Canary approached the building it was in much better shape then the Adoption Center and Canary inferred the reasoning to be that this was a privately owned establishment that was probably backed by those artsy types that throw paint on a canvas say its abstract and charge more then a home for someone to purchase it.

Entering the building she approached the front desk and rung the bell, she awaited the young woman who worked at this desk and already had her identification out so she could bypass the mistaken identity if possible as some random child wandering the place. Canary wondered if there was something that she could do to help reduce the chances of this happening but beyond thinking of some crazy jutsu or something she resigned herself to the fact she was just going to have to wait to grow up like everyone else. The young woman showed up and before she opened her mouth her eyes noticed the identification and nodded her head introducing herself as needed and asking why Canary was there. Canary produced the request slip and the receptionist informed her of the task that she was going to need to complete. The Painter’s Guild needed someone to clean the excess brushes and tools for an upcoming event they were having that would see all their members hopefully in the building for some socializing and art creation and while normally the amount of brushes and tools they keep pristine would handle the typical flow of people for the event they needed quite a bit more to cover everyone.

So the receptionist showed Canary where the things that needed clean where and where the supplies to clean them were located. Wishing her luck she left Canary to her own devices, Canary wasted no time to collecting up the supplies and went to work cleaning brushes of all shapes and sizes making sure to remove the excess paint that had dried on them and allow them plenty of time to dry in the sun. She was thankful for the good weather because otherwise this task would take quite a bit longer. Before she knew it all the brushes and tools she had been assigned to take care of were clean and ready for use once more, she reported as such to the receptionist and once she had been given approval for the job done she left the Painter’s guild and was ready to tackle her next mission.

Looking at her list of missions she had chosen to undertake today, she was nearing the end of her list and was pretty proud of that. So far she had completed 3 different E-rank missions and was on track to finish two more before the end of the day, this was great progress being made for the fresh Genin and it spurred her to hurry quickly to her next mission. Which was to take place in the fields that surrounded the village, as they were typically farmers first and shinobi second in Tanbogakure. So every person shinobi or not was drafted basically to be helpers in the fields in some way shape or form and there was no way to get out of this duty and even visitors were expected to help out while they were here.

It was a fascinating sight to behold sometimes as you would see even the Kage themselves out here working besides the villagers the were suppose to protect. Canary made her way to the farmer’s house she was suppose to be helping and unlike the other places the farmers there simply nodded their heads and instructed her on what she would be doing today in regards to helping with the fields. She would be helping with pulling weeds from the fields, as she was young and small so she wouldn’t have to bend over as far as the older people helping and it would save everyone a bit more time on a small but very important process in maintaining the fields.

Now it was time to get to work and after rolling up her pant legs and her sleeves to her elbows Canary went into her work quickly and precisely, making sure to check every row and space between for any intruding weeds in the water filled fields of rice. She found spiders and water bugs all over the place and when she noticed any insects that were harmful to the plants she got rid of them on top of plucking the weeds. Things were going smoothly and a cool breeze rolled in, cooling the sweat that had been building up on the worker’s brow. So far today had been a pretty fulfilling day, and picking these weeds was an act of work that didn’t require a lot of thought or skill. It was one of those tasks that let you empty your mind and let your body simply work on its own. By the time she had realized she was done it was getting into the evening hours the sun beginning to lower in the sky.

Turning back she was glad to see that everyone was wrapping their work for the day and that she had done a good job so far, once more she approached the family of farmers that she had been assigned to help and with their approval she had completed her second to last mission of the day. Now it was time to make her way to the next mission location and finish out her day.

Leaving the rice fields after helping with the de-weeding of them, Canary was heading to where her last task of the day was to take place. A traveling troupe of performers had made their way to the village to put on a show and entertain the villagers on their journey around the world. It was a bit exciting to see the performance overall as it contained a multitude of varies things from a variety of dances, to tricks to even animals. Canary quite enjoyed having the troupe in the village but there were some of the older villagers that spoke of trouble and old superstitions of those nomads who traveled from place to place. Their fears were kind of justified at the moment due to all the upheaval from recent events but it didn’t make Canary more accepting but she could at least understand the distance being shown.

Approaching the troupe she produced her identification to one of the members and after a brief moment of confusion she was brought to the leader of the troupe, A man in his late years, the man explained that what she needed to do was help them train and practice their acts and give any kind of feedback to help improve their acts to appeal to the village better, as they had been having trouble pulling in a crowd. Canary had no issue with that and started off explaining the recent events to the troupe to allow them to understand the current state of the village and the stand off like behavior they had been experiencing. Once they had gone over that some changes to the act was made to be more welcoming and comforting, stories of great heroes were chosen and fun activities planned for the shows. It wasn’t long but by the end of the time together Canary was sweating more then she had been in the fields and was wearing a big smile on her face she had been enjoying herself with the troupe and their various acts. She had really enjoying practicing with the troupe for the dance sections and wondered if she could ever learn to professional do so.

Something about seeing the men and women of the troupe glide so effortlessly around the stage really made her want to train that way too, but she pushed those aside as she was still on the clock for the request, with enough time had passed and the sun had crested the horizon she was approached by the elderly man and was told she had accomplished the task they had been requesting and that he was pleased with her hard work and professionalism. He gave her his approval on the request slip and it was time to return to the building where she got her missions to claim the rewards for a job well done. After giving her thanks to those she worked with Canary made her way to claim her rewards and go home for the night. She looked forward to the next day to do the same thing all over once more.
