The Eternal Sight {IO, NK}

Her face was blank as well, even as he had spoken his piece, it seemed that both of them were intent on not agreeing to each other's side of the argument. Was this what it meant? to argue with a supposed comrade and potential ally down the road? His face remained to stare right at Isaribi Uchiha. However when she had gone to raise her sleeve, Toran’s finger twitched in reaction, yet what was underneath made the Young Uchiha give pause to any violent actions that he was thinking. Instead focused on the tapestry before him.

Her entire arm was covered in thick blotchy art pieces, some of which he recognized from his own academy days. Of a group simply known as the Jaws of Grima. There was a seemingly click in his brain, registering the tattoo’s. Yet he still couldn’t understand, understand why she wouldn’t trust them to come, trust him somewhat to come with. He had thought he was helping her, that he was in the right of this situation. Yet his face had changed subconsciously, glaring at her further for showing him that she was a criminal, someone who had stolen, who would kill not as a shinobi, but as a crooked individual.

Yet that brought that memory of what he had done, the news that he had burned a child into ash with his Amaterasu, with his own abilities… Was he any better then the women before him, the women who was a repentant criminal. Or at least, who he would hope was repenting for what they had done. Yet he knew his words would not be able to convince her that it was his idea, not Akaboshi’s own. That he himself wanted to switch eyes with her.

“But you’re still a shinobi of Hoshigakure….”


His true voice had seemingly come back to him. His next words coming out slowly, his heart was racing, that they would employ a criminal into the force… Yet still… He probably had done worse with killing that child. Of taking these aging pills… Of abandoning his mother and father after saying a meager farewell to them. He did it because he wanted to get this process over with, of making sure that his eyes would not become just like his fathers own. What else could he even do besides ask her what he desperately wanted to know.

There were different variations on the same question that she wanted to ask Toran. What did it mean? Being a shinobi, belonging to the village... hell, what was Hoshigakure to him, in the first place? Everyone saw and interpreted the world through a different lens, and what the village meat to her was clearly not the same as how others saw it, especially those who had had the benefit of society's kindness. Though they were all really the same question worded differently, the differences mattered. Just as before, the way she posed the question would reveal something about herself as well.

"Sure," she said, pulling her sleeve back down and crossing her arms. Deliberating in excess could also expose her weaknesses, and that was something she could avoid. Use the truth as a weapon, be frank. "But I think what that looks like to you is pretty different for me. I think people who say that 'we're all on the same team' or 'we're part of one big family' are either full of shit, or are up to something." Her tone which was at first brusque and surly became more confident and determined. "Just because we all work under the same banner doesn't mean we all want the same thing, and there are plenty of you who would sooner see me locked back up than allow me to get what I want." There was probably a more eloquent way to say it, but Isa had never been too good with words. Just tell it like it is, and let Toran's brain sort it out.

At any rate, that should suffice for a simple explanation. It accounted for her mistrust of shinobi, especially higher ranked ones. She didn't have the time or vocabulary to express things in further detail, and a diatribe going into why those deeply embedded in institutions like the shinobi forces were repulsive to her would only tire her out. What's more, her explanation was the truth, as she saw it.

“Then what do you want?” It was obvious to him that she now had ulterior motives, someone with the Mangekyo sharingan, someone who could cause damage to the people of the village was standing right in front of him. Someone who had plans, plans that he nor anyone else could even know about. Was she still a part of the Jaws of Grima? Was she still working for them still, for that he had no idea, but he’d rather get away, there was no need to fight here. He’d begin to walk away from her, his face remaining blank, slowly turning around and walking away from the situation at hand, he didn’t care what she had to say, unless it would have been something completely alarming, however Toran was going to disengage with the conversation. There was going to be no way for him to convince her to come, and he could always not use the eyes like Hikari had said, and focus his efforts on his other attributes besides his Mangekyo Sharingan.

“Apologies for wasting your time, Isaribi Uchiha.”

With that, he walked off and away from the situation, not wanting to deal with the fact that someone who just said that they were planning something would be let off the hook. He had to inform someone of the situation. As once he was out of sight, or seemingly out of sight of Isaribi, he broke off into a sprint towards the unseen University.
