Genin Exam [Zainketsu]

Genin Exam
The day had finally arrived. Zainketsu was beyond excited. With any luck this would be his last day as an academy student. His school career so far was short and uneventful. He found it to be quite boring honestly. The curriculum was pretty easy, and he had no troubles learning the required material. In truth he probably could remain as a student for a little while longer, but he felt like he learned about as much as he could here. There was not much to gain by staying in the acdemy for an additional year. The teachers agreed also. They had even given him special permission to attempt to test out of school early. If he wanted to continue to grow he would have to try his hand at being a Genin. It was time to step up and stop and get serious.
All the eligible kids were outside in the open practice field in front of the academy. There was about ten of them total. They all looked to be a couple years older then him. The young Uchiha was easily the smallest one there. He didn't know any of them but they clearly knew who he was. They all kept whispering at eachother excitedly and then would suddenly grow silent as he approached. Zainketsu even heard his last name directly a couple of times. He was determined not to let it bother him. He had received this type of welcoming just about everywhere he went, it was one of the few downsides of being apart of the legendary Uchiha clan.
Listen up kiddos, today is an important day. Those that pass will get promoted to the rank of genin. You will be recognized as fully certified shinobi. Those of you that fail will have to wait until next year to retake the exam. If this is your third time then there will be no other chances. The first test will be the transformation technique Everybody give it your all!
The proctor was a grizzled old man, easily 50. His face was marred by multiple scars and his body was build like a ton of bricks. He was at least chuunin rank judging by the infamous green vest he was wearing. Zainketsu formed into a line with the other kids. He was privileged enough to be in the back and get to watch there go first. One after another each kid went up and demonstrated their ability. Some were clearly more skilled then others. Just about every person was able to mimic the proctor with varying degrees of success. Only about two of them looked completely unpassable. The rest were at least feasible.
Zainketsu did not hesitate at all when it was his turn. All these jutsu were pretty simple. He stood in front of the proctor and began making the needed seals with his left hand. The proctor raised an eyebrow and eyed him with great curiosity at only using one hand to perform the jutsu. To nobodies surprise, Zainketsu's jutsu was nearly flawless. He tried to copy every possible detail he could glean. Everything down to the scars and equipment were mirrored to perfection. His eyes were naturally perceptive to begin with so this was not much of a challenge for him. He felt very confident in this jutsu
Well done everybody. We will now move on to the second part of the exam, The Clone Technique. Each student must be able to make 3 passable clones. Now let's begin!
The line of students reformed and went at it again. Zainketsu snickered to himself as the students made it down the line. The examinees were having a lot more trouble this test then the previous one. Some of the clones were of lesser quality then others, three different students were unable to produce three bonafied clones. One student was only able to make one Clone. A group of the other students were laughing and talking shit under their breath, Zain was not one of them.
When it was his turn to go he made the needed seals with his left hand again. Five clones appeared next to him. He could have left it at three but he figured the extra two might give him more of a buffer in case he struggled with the next test. The proctor scoffed, he clearly was not as impressed and seemed even a little irritated with him.
The proctor led everybody through three additonal test additonal tests. One was proficiency with projectiles, another was genjutsu, and the last one was basic knowledge of Chakra and jutsu. Zainketsu aced these three parts without much trouble. He always had a natural proficiency with genjutsu so that one was a walk in the park. His Mist servant technique for the genjutsu portion actually had the proctor looking a little creeped out. Projectiles was also pretty easy. He probably could have hit most the targets with his eyes closes if he wanted to.
Even before deciding to be a Ninja Zainketsu was a major book nerd. He found books on chakta and jutsu absolutely fascinating. He felt like he did all right on that part but if there was ever a spot he could improve upon it was that. His fast track path through the academy didn't do him any favors there. That was one area where staying in school another year would actually have benefited him.
Nicely done everybody. There is just one final test today. That is the Taijutsu portion. For this test I will personally be testing each student. Don't fret if you can't win, you are not supposed to, you are not GOING to. I just want to get a basic understanding of what level you are at. This test is all about technique! With that being said, Do your best!
The proctor then preceded to go back through the line of kids. Most of the bouts were really short. The proctor pretty much did the same routine everytime. He would let the kids attack and either parry or dodge them for a couple minutes, then he would throw a couple quick jabs to test their defense. After thoroughly testing what they could do, he would randomly strike with lightning quick speed and knock them on their ass. Honestly the whole dance was a little predictable towards the end. You could tell he was just trying to gather information on their speed, strength and technique and thay therer was not a lot effort on his side.
This was one test that Zainketsu was hyped over. When it was his turn he confidently strolled into the center of the training field. He was determined to be the first and potentially only kid to land a strike on the proctor. The two started off slowly. Zainketsu would strike and the proctor would evade, the proctor would strike and Zain would parry. It was not easy to defend against. The proctor was much faster and stronger then he was. They traded blows back and fourth for what felt like five minutes. Zainketsu was waiting for the real strike the proctor was bound to throw to end the match. He kind of just went through the motions until the perfect arose to counter.
Now!
His eyes suddenly turned a deep crimson. Everything slowed down instantly after activating his sharingan. The teachers face dropped in awe but his jab was already in motion. It was to late to stop it now. Zain slipped the attack and countered with an uppercut of his own. His fist just barely grazed the proctors jaw. He immediately seemed very angry. He picked up the ferocity of his attacks. Zainketsu did his best to dodge them but he was too slow. His eyes could see the attacks coming but his body just could not move fast enough to dodge.
The young Uchiha was unable to lay another finger on the proctor. After a short back and forth Zainketsu took a mighty punch right in his forehead. He landed hard on his ass and went sliding back, a nearby tree broke his skid and drove all the air out of his chest. His eyes faded back to their deep black appearance as the blow knocked the sharingan right out of him.
Well done everybody. When I call your name that means you have passed. Come up and grab your headband. If you do not hear your name that means you have failed and will have to try again next year.
Zain watched as the first couple students were called. They all gleefully grabbed their headband and shook the proctors hand. He started to get nervous at not hearing his name. He knew there was no way he could have failed. Finally he was called up. The proctor handed him his headband and gave the first smile Zainketsu had seen out of him yet. The proctor extended his hand for the boy to shake. For a moment the young Uchiha wanted to cry out of joy. He didn't know it was going to mean as much to him as it did. His dream and journey was finally going to start. He wanted to bask in this moment forever
Congrats young man. I am expecting great things from you. Dont dissapoint. It will be an honor of mine to share the battlefield with you some day! I'm excited to see how far you will go, Keep up the good work young genin!
