There was a hint of hesitancy in his voice as he pondered on her request and honestly while it had sounded good he also knew that nothing in this village would jog his memory. The village as far as he knew had no ties to this village but there could have been something that could have probably...maybe...Shaking his he he would shrug and clench the sheath of his blade for a moment before finally answering her," We will see. Even being in this village it does not bring up any sort of memory or even hint that i have been here before and according to my Master there has been nothing that he has seen that points to an origin of birth in this village though...stranger things have indeed happened and if something can point me in the right direction then I have to take it even if it doesn't lead me anywhere good. Fine. We will see where this goes in the future as far as missions are concerned," he was weary of what could come of it, but at the same time something pulled on that tiny cord of curiosity that he had. The conversation would carry them until they had gotten back with the family to the house, where he would come back in and stand to the side, crossing his arms and watching as the wife went to the back of the house. His eyes would slowly trail over to the husband who would begin to advise that he would need them to remain until morning, when his mercenary detail would soon arrive. A small huff left his lips before he shrugged and nodded to himself," I knew that there would eventually be a caveat to this mission detail, but we have accepted this task and as shinobi we will finish. Though in the future please make all of this upfront so that we can plan for every eventuality while we are out and can be on extra alert," he was not reprimanding the older gentlemen just giving a piece of advice.
As the husband left the room he would look over to Kayori who had been complaining about her parents going to kill her because she was going to be stuck here, which was a sentiment he did not get. For him if he had came back to the forge later than expected while the siblings would worry, they also knew Rilo could take care of himself and even then they did not have much to worry about. Rilo was Rilo. Shrugging his shoulders he would begin to move toward the door when he stopped to look back at Kayori," I don't understand the issue with you performing your shinobi duties...then again I don't have parents so no one can really tell me what I can or cannot do with my time. Either way they should be fine considering you are a Shinobi to the village first and a daughter to them second," maybe that had sounded a little too harsh, but subtlety was was wasted on him. As the two would begin to leave the house to head out to meet the captain he would ponder on that for just a moment as he finally spoke on it," If he said the mercenary company he hired would not be here until morning...who is the captain we are speaking to?," maybe it was him being paranoid but at the same time the logic did not make sense to him. If she knew something that he did not he would of course listen to her input to at least put his mind to ease.

Kayori was happy to hear he would at least give her suggestion a chance, though it might not help him recall any memories, it would still be a good experience for the both of them. She was unsure of what else she could provide him, so being there for him if he needed it seemed like the simplest solution. Dropping the subject, the conversation would move on until reaching their client's home. After learning of their new task both of them would accept, though Kayori had done so begrudgingly. She wanted to return to her plush bed back home, however knew it was best that she remain on duty.
Once the man had left and she explained that her parents would be upset with her decision to stay, Rilo would speak up. He’d begin by explaining that he didn’t see the issue with continuing her duties but remarked that he didn’t have any parents to tell him what he could or couldn’t do. Though it saddened her to think of his situation, she couldn’t help but envy the boy a bit. He could go where he pleased, and do as he wished without being questioned at every turn. His last comment about being a village shinobi first and a daughter second caused her to pause for a moment.
Nothing in her life compared to the loyalty and dedication she held towards Amaterasu, that’s what she believed, however. In reality, she wasn’t quite sure which force in her would dictate her actions in a moment of urgency. Would she pick the deity she devoted her life to, her family who molded her into the person she is today, or the village that provided her and various others with a chance at a safe life? She held each close to her heart and honestly was unsure of how to balance the three of them. Internally she felt a bit torn, but her expression remained neutral as she spoke up.
”They worry so much is all, it’s not that they don’t think me capable of handling myself, it’s just I’m the first person in the family to actually get directly involved with the village. Though my parents have lived here for some time, they rarely leave the religious sector so they’re just a bit nervous is all.”
It was rather difficult to convince them to let her begin her training, but after a few years, they finally broke. She knew they saw this as a way to have one of the faithful potentially climb through the ranks within the village, but to her, this was simply the easiest way to help those around her. Regardless of their intentions, Kayori wanted to put her best foot forward in hopes of maintaining peace within the village.
After moving from the room, the two of them would exit the house once more. He inquired about who the captain of the guard was, considering the mercenaries the man had hired wouldn’t be here until morning. Assumedly the client had a handful of “normal” household guards, though none strong enough to contend with the person threatening him. She’d shrug slightly as she examined the estate grounds, noticing what looked to be a small facility near the perimeter she’d nod her head towards it.
”I’m sure it’s more of a steward or something along those lines who just keeps the estate in order. Not sure if “captain of the guard” is exactly what you’d call the position but I suppose we’ll see.”
Kayori would give him a moment to respond before then heading off to the small building in the distance. Once they arrived, they were greeted by a servant who would escort them inside. While there they met with a man who seemingly was in charge of the operations and both were assigned a post for the night.

There was a small tilt of his head as he listened to her, confusion among one of the many emotions or reactions he was having to it. In his mind it had sounded like they were coddling or keeping her too close to the chest for their own safety and not of her own. To be so paranoid because she was the first of a new generation did not make sense to him, but on the same notion his only family was someone who had grew up for the most part on his own and saw no need to prohibit or block him from living the life that he wanted to. So probably Rilo did not truly understand what had been going on and simply chose to see it in his rather closeted ways. Wasn't his fault though. The confusion on his face would soon end as he nodded and finally spoke as they walked," Honestly just seems like they are coddling you and need to let you spread your wings. I do not know what that feels like because the one who watched over me allowed me the freedoms to make my decisions and live my life, but in a sense they should as well. You are in new territory and just because they do not know how to navigate does not mean you necessarily won't either. They should let the fledgling leave the dragon's cave and take flight," and again maybe this was only because of his own experiences in his life, but even then they only made him stronger as a person.
She did not necessarily share in his concerns about how the client had phrased who they were looking for but she did assure that at least from her point of view it could have been a steward or someone standing in until they had arrived in the morning. He'd nod twice before looking forward toward the figure of someone that had just been standing as if they were waiting for them. After the trio had spoken Rilo had a general idea of what would need to happen and he figured that the best course of action would be. Turning to his partner he would begin to articulate exactly what they plan should look like for the best coverage," Seeing as we are three at the moment until the rest of the group arrives here is what i would personally suggest. I'll take first watch since I am well versed in staying up for long periods of time especially at night and my clan's abilities will help me pierce through the veil of night to make sure no one sneaks up on the house. Kayori, you stay within the house with the merchant and his wife to assure they are safe. Check all doors, windows or anything that could pose as a significant risk to them and be prepared for the second watch at midnight. You sir, continue to operate as you need to as we may need you to finish the remaining watch until sunrise. If there are no objections then we can proceed after dinner if that is okay with you sir?," his crimson eyes began to lay on the man in charge who was reluctant to listen to the boy due to his age, but his plan was sound and would be what he would have done as well. Nodding his head the three would have dinner before Rilo took post on top of the roof. Taking in a deep breathe he would activate his Kenseigan which would allow him to see beyond the house for 100 meters. He squatted low and kept a constant vigil over the area as he sat in silence unless someone had spoken to him otherwise. The night was rather cool, but he had been so used to being near a forge and working it that he was not bothered by it.
The cold was welcomed as he took in small breathes, regulating his breathing and body temperature as he continued his vigil of the area. The nighttime in the country was definitely something he had yet to experience and it was serene enough to calm his otherwise turbulent mindset. Maybe this was what his life had been like prior to coming to Hoshi, but those memories were as fleeting as the embers from a kiln. He worried about it for long periods of time then began to not care after a few more. Trying to rack his brain over something he could not control was not good for him. As Midnight approached he would be listening out for Kayori and when she finally came out of the house, he would jump off of the roof and land gently beside her, crossing his arms as he continued to look outward," Nothing to report besides the local wildlife. How are the merchant and his wife?," he'd ask of course because he was going to be going in there and wanted to make sure they did not require anything. If nothing else was said to him, he would bid her a good night and return into the house. As he went in, he would do his own sweep of the house before standing against the door of their bedroom. He would not disturb them though he would peek in to assure they were soundly asleep. Crossing his arms he would remain at his station until first daylight had broke.
With the arrival of the company, Rilo would walk toward the front door and meet with Kayori to update the company on the events and when everything was said and done, he would turn to Kayori and probably for the first time give her a genuine smile," While I do not say or admit this often this was an enjoyable experience. May we have many more. I look forward to see how you flourish into your own shinobi," if nothing else, the Ametsuchi would begin his trek back to the village to get some well deserved sleep.
