So It Begins Pt.2

Learning the Ropes:

Kuiaratame should have known all along that distrust of outsiders could not easily be overcome. The moment something had gone wrong in the village, all of the villagers eyes had shifted towards the only one that did not seem to immediately belong within their covenant, the only one who had not been born and raised within their fold. His foreignness emanated from him like a display of power, highlighting him to all of the villagers, but this was even worse than that. Some of the more capable villagers had started running towards the building which housed authority within this village, and so that meant it was only a matter of time until they contacted a shinobi squad to try and bring him in.
It broke his heart that he had to leave, that he couldn't simply talk to the authorities about the misunderstanding since he knew he had not committed the act of treachery they were forcing upon him, but the risk... the risk was simply too great to consider. If he confronted them and was unable to sway them to his reasoning, then he was locked away, or worse, simply executed. What would his sister do without him being around? Would she even be able to fend for herself? No, of course she could, but the emotional trauma that would follow from losing him would potentially escalate into something dangerous. He just couldn't allow that.
His feet were acting before his mind had consolidated the plan. Fortunately, he appeared to have inherited his fathers instincts and had already begun his sprint in the opposite direction from those running towards the authorities. Keep his eyes low but forward so he could try to avoid who he could avoid, and also notice if anyone was daring enough to try and body block him. The dirt beneath his feet provided very little cushioning so each impact carried weight with it, but that wasn't something he could think about right now. Barrelling through onlookers that formed into a crowd, Kuiaratame made a swift exit from the village and made his way towards the nearby forest which offered him shelter from the elements and protection in the form of obfuscating the vision of those that would try to look upon him.
After running for a few minutes in the grassy knolls that signalled the departure from the village, Kuiaratame could hear both the wind rustling the leaves and the sounds of wildlife simply enjoying their lives. Further to that though, were the slight creaking of the trees that almost blended in with the rustling leaves, yet were out of rhythm enough to signal that it was the weight being placed upon the wood.
The ninjas had arrived.
Kuiaratame felt some anxiety at the noticing of their arrival as it meant he had to be careful about his movements from here on out; his feet may leave imprints on the grass beneath him or even shatter a brittle branch, his body didn't blend in with the vivid greens and browns that were visible here, and worse than that, his hair was blue! How would he blend in when his future depended on it? Maybe he could reason with the ninja about how the civilians had got the entire picture wrong...
No, he simply could not gamble on them believing him. If it had to come to it, he would have to go down fighting so that he would not leave his sister behind. He had no weapons on his person currently, but he did have some tricks up his sleeve. If he could weave the simplest of jutsu together, perhaps he could come up with something that rhymed. The ninja were superior to him physically, sure, but they were anticipating a low-level criminal. A rookie that would simply run until caught.
Realising that he was acting entirely according to their win condition, Kuiaratame slowed his sprint down into a jog, then further into a walk around the base of a rather large tree trunk. Here he would hide the large portion of his body from those above him, biding his time before he had to use the jutsu. Maintaining a level breath, his inhales came through his diaphragm, and his exhales were barely enough to shift his torso at all as he sought to breathe through his stomach. Soon, they would notice he was not further ahead of them, and it would be time to pull off his jutsu.
He had always felt a close affinity for nature, it helped soothe the rage he had within him... at least, for the most part. The chirps of birds were growing more distant now, due to the stomping on the branches from the shinobi he wagered. Soon, he started to hear the vocals of the group as they talked about his potential location... and they were fast approaching his location.
Taking another deep inhalation, he performed the handseal he required for the first part of his trick - Ram. Concentrating, an identical visage of himself emerged next to him. This would be his fall guy, the one they see and immediately feel the surge of relief as they collapse upon him, and subsequently the realisation of him not truly being the catch. By then, Kuiaratame hoped, they would have lost the adrenaline they initially had in pursuit.
Following this, Kuiaratame formed the handseal of the Ram, transforming himself into a squirrel that immediately started jumping over the thick roots that swamped the ground, immediately making his way from the absent minded clone in a different trajectory to how he was initially escaping. He had to get back to his sister without the group finding him, and from the sounds of snickering behind him and the subsequent pop of the clone, he knew the trap he foiled the shinobi.
It broke his heart to deceive them, but he was not deserving of the punishment they wished to push upon him. They were simply doing their jobs, and he could not fault them for that. At least, not yet.
