Cats eyes and Takoyaki

Rokku sat in the perfectly dark room at the Otogakure training grounds as he gathered chakra in his eyes and attempted to pierce the stygian darkness and read the words that he had requested be randomly placed in the room before his arrival to test whether he had successfully learned to activate the cats eye technique. Though not a particularly advanced technique it was one that Rokku had not trained too seriously and had finally decided to dedicate a little time to the technique. The technique though not complex could be immeasurably helpful and for one thing would make sneaking in and out of the house much easier if he had no need to use any lights. It would also help in any battlefield that was particularly dark such as a thick forest or perhaps underground. They were very specific locations but then Rokku could not always say what a mission might require of him so he was happy to have such a basic thing as seeing through the dark checked of his list.

It did not take him too long to find the correct balance of the chakra to enable the technique to succeed and in a short time he was able to see the words spread around the room with relative ease. Rokku spent a few more minutes in the room, deactivating the cats eye to ensure he could see nothing again and reactivating it to get used to the correct amount of chakra and ability to activate it quickly. Once he was satisfied with the completion of the technique he left the training grounds and decided to undertake a new mission to find something tasty to eat.

As he wondered the various stalls he thought he spotted Quinn and headed other to say hello. He as uncertain if they were exactly friends though he would prefer to think that they were and he wanted to believe that Quinn considered them the same in their own enigmatic and often monosyllabic way.

“Hey Quinn, how goes the Jounin life? Hope its not keeping you too busy to work at your forge. I am just about to grab some Takoyaki from that place you showed me and Yukina did you want to join me? This time it will be my treat"

Quinn’s effort with their training was one that encompassed the balance between their personal life, health, their Shinobi life, duties, and their business life, management. Today in this moment was that of their Shinobi life. They ventured deep into the training facilities and was finding their way to the front batting boxes that they often find themselves drawn to. It was on this occasion as Quinn was deciding to see if they wanted to bat once more after the hard day of training, they heard Rokku’s voice. The young boy had taken a part of Quinn’s heart for their love for the village.

The words he voiced showed interest in themselves and the life they were living. A smile and a nod, “Well enough. Should work for me. Let’s go. Food is good. Always a treat.” They added into the sentences as they decided against continuing their training. Perhaps one day, the duo would find themselves against the wall in dire odds but when that day come, Quinn would make sure Rokku would be able to make it out if they could help it. The village had grown quiet but Quinn’s forging strikes would always remain and ring forever true.

Rokku nodded ate food with Quinn, mostly chatting about recent missions and plans for his training and just venting in general. He found it oddly comforting to talk with Quinn, though the term talking with may have been generous. A more accurate description would be Rokku talking at Quinn with Quinn responding with short efficient sentences or perhaps even single words. The genin reflected that the food and company were good however and so it was an enjoyable meal and chat and he gave Quinn his thanks for joining him before heading home. Once home he collapsed on the bed began listening to his music before drifting off to sleep.
