Summoned by the Genshokage?

Rokku wandered through the village, exiting his new home located in the section of the village known as the Clan Gardens. It felt strange to be living in  place set aside for the clanned ninja as though the blood ran true he never considered himself a true Sarutobi. His family had yet to join them in the village but from the infrequent messages received they were only a week or so away. The Clan Gardens was one of the quitter sections of the village at the moment but Rokku knew that was bound to change once the migrating civilians arrived. The village had come along nicely though there still seemed to be some buzz about a planned restaurant or inn of some sort named Dom Minnows. Rokku was personally uncertain why their was so much excitement but was happy to see the village humming with excitement and life.

His favourite part of the village was Mount Tsuchinoko, the spot for the proposed training grounds once it was fully complete, the height afforded an excellent view of the village and the surrounding mountains of the Land of Fangs. Rokku headed down from Mount Tsuchinoko and headed to the Apex Tower. His presence had been requested by  the Quinnkage and he did not wish to be late though in truth he had no idea what Quinn wanted to discuss with Rokku. As far as he was aware he had been keeping his nose clean and was trying to be active in the village.

The Genin climbed the Apex tower and paused outside the Genshokage’s office knocking twice before entering and giving a quick but formal bow. He had left his gaia’s glove at home but wore his custom ninja guitar in a case on his back. The guitar and the earing he wore that formerly served as an attunement charm to access and leave Otogakure. The headband he had buried beneath the gateway to the village and now he wore the Kemonogakure headband, hanging form his belt but in clear view.

“Good morning Genshokage sama. You wished to see me?”

The turning of days of travel was something that Quinn was not so used to. Having grown up in the Land of Sky, the Forgemaster had a small amount of days beginning to form under their eyes. It was tiring work to run a village to begin with but finding and coordinating supplies to build one is a different beast altogether. Yet here they stood in their office with minimal decor and effecient furniture useful to entertain if needed or to utilize should the need come for a small rest. A couch had been moved into the office at Quinn’s request for any guests who needed a comfier spot than to stand to meet with them, or should Quinn want to take a quick five.

One of the first things on the docket was a personal matter to their own desires and they called upon Otogakuran Genin, now Kemonogakuran Genin, Rokku Hisara. A missive was sent to the young Sarutobi in the clan gardens to meet Quinn in the Apex Tower so as such, Quinn being who they were, was already there and had been for a while. Dressed as they normally would, Quinn would hear the knocks and move from behind the desk to the front as Rokku entered the chambers. Giving a cordial nod of acknowledgment to the Genin, Quinn took note of his attire and looked at him with a degree of scrutiny as they would a blade they had just forged. A hand shifted to rest on their chin as they inspected the attire the Genin brought with him. Rokku had been a budding talent when the two first met and before long had a well developed working relationship. It was after a few moments that Quinn finally gave a vocal response to their guest, “Yes.”

Before continuing any further they gave a nod to themselves before grabbing a bag and a box. Quinn encountered a similar scene some time ago with Kaito, though Quinn felt awkward being on the other side of the exchange with regard to looking at Rokku. The box was roughly the size of Rokku’s torso just a tad larger and the bag itself could be heard singing a tune if payday. Quinn tossed the bag towards Rokku expecting him to catch it without much woe but then held the box before extending it outstretched towards him. “Out of uniform.” They simply said at the Chuunin explaining not much more beyond the actions they had presented to the once Kemonogakuran Genin. There was a degree of expectation they had for Rokku’s reaction but at minimum, Quinn smiled towards him waiting to see how the young Sarutobi would respond to such a presentation.

Rokku glanced around the office smiling. It was minimal yet not unwelcoming, holding the basics required and the landscapes on display of Otogakure, their former village and home now abandoned. Rokku had not known Quinn that long in the grand scheme of things but it had been a short though sometimes confusing roller coaster ride as far as friendships go, or at least perhaps tutorship may have been accurate as Quinn had taught Rokku much in the short time he had been a shinobi. He reflected on their first meeting, distrusting the strange  and enigmatic character that happened to wander along with a brand genin and academy student. It was clear they were no simple genin and Rokku had distrusted them immensely, certain there was some hidden motive. As time passed however he had discovered that Quinn cared for the village and had a unique outlook on the village and perhaps life as a whole. Small gestures like buying Takoyaki and handing over little ring mail sheets to help with nerves or stress showed that they were not in fact a soulless automaton but simply had their own Quinn quirks and unique way of expressing themselves.

Rokku snapped back to the office in Apex Tower, resisting the urge to squirm as the Genshokage he knew as Quinn began looking him up and down as though appraising him for some reason before they responded. When Quinn proceeded to grab a box and a bag Rokku was even more confused as as bag was thrown to him. He caught the bag without too much issue but was surprised by the weight for a moment as he heard the familiar clinking sound of ryo in the bank, a relatively substantial amount as well. Rokku wondered if he was being sent to procure some kind of equipment or perhaps delivering payment for some service or function within the village. The situation took a another strange turn as Quinn offered the box, Rokku tied the money bag quickly to his belt and took the box before Quinns second statement was made and his mind whirled as he tried to interpret what precisely Quinn meant by out of uniform, for one mortifying instant he thought it was a command but then dismissed it, why would Quinn hand him the box. He noted as they watched Rokku expectantly, a smile on their face.

Rokku looked into the box for the first time, seeing what appeared to be a brand new flakk jacket and he raised an eyebrow unconsciously wandering if he was supposed to deliver it to someone. Quinns second statement rolled around in his mind and he realised it was a statement not a command, that he was out of uniform. Rokku made a series of faces as he began ranging from confusion, realisation shock and then joy. Rokku had known from a young age that the flakk jacket signified the rank of Chuunin and he had just been handed one by a smiling Quinn, the Genshokage, and told he was out of his uniform. Rokku removed the jacket, holding it in both hands and staring at it, dropping the box as he did so unconsciously. His hands shook a little as he held it and held it up. It looked like it was certainly in his size before looking it and looking Quinn in the eye and bowing deeply. “Thank you. I uh I am not sure what I am supposed to say but thank you Genshokage sama. Thank you ….” Rokku glanced around the room as though looking for hidden listeners momentarily and lowering his voice. “…Quinn. I will do my best to live up to it and to honour our new village with you at its head.” Roku gave another bow before excitedly putting on the flakk jacket and zipping it up with a large beaming smile on his face. It fit very well but he felt a weight upon this shoulders that was more than just the physical weight of the plated jacket.

He nodded to Quinn and spoke with a similar clipped tone. “In uniform now.” Rokku similarly gestured to the robes and hat that were traditional to the Genshokage’s station, hung up on the stand nearby. He looked around again quickly before quietly speaking and pointing to Quinn with a cheeky childlike grin. “You are out of uniform as well.”

Once Rokku accepted the box and other items, Quinn gave an approving nod to the now Chuunin that stood before them. There were many mixed emotions from the Forgemaster to see the valiant effort from Rokku in the move and rebuilding of the village from Otogakure to now Kemonogakure. Their history and legacy would not be lost in their stories from Sunagakure to now Kemonogakure. It was a journey, to say the least for some and a shorter story for others to tell. There would now be a new name on the annals of history at least for Kemonogakure, with Rokku Hisara being one of the first chuunin to grace the Land of Fang.

With him fitting himself into his new attire, Quinn repositioned themselves behind their desk once more before looking towards the robes on the side. A sly smirk graced the lips of Quinn Foster, Genshokage as they returned their gaze to the growing Sarutobi. "Formal attire. Dismissed." They simply said knowing that the young boy would have much to say to his family after such a joyous occasion, especially after such a massive change of lifestyle. Quinn knew the day for the robes was drawing ever nearer.
