Re: Kairashi Tries to get an Audience with the Mizu

Turning slightly he would shrug almost casually "but isn't the politics where you would get all the power to puppet the village along in any schemes you have. If the kage decrees it his ninja are sure to follow after all." Sipping at his mostly full water glass again Kairashi would turn his attention towards the kitchen, "five minutes until the foods ready, are you sure you don't want to wait until we start the meal to discuss anything else?"

He was left speechless for a moment. This person was good. "Yes, let us wait" he said, realizing he needed time to figure out an answer.
The food arrived, his noodle and tempura on a platter with the dipping sauce next to it, and his the ramen arrived in a bowl in front of the one who ordered it. While picking up and dipping the first piece of tempura, what was very likely a piece of zucchini, he said "Well, if I were tell you to kill yourself, would you do it? I don't mean telling you to run into battle where you will surely die to save someone else. I mean right now, if I or Suzaku told you to jump off a cliff, for no reason at all. Would you do it?"

Kairashi shifted slightly rolling his chopsticks before breaking the yoke of the egg that floated on top of his udon. "Well, the only logical explanation to a random request for suicide would be to asses the possible outcomes, decide the leader has gone insane and imprison them while declaring martial law in the area until the leader snaps out of it or a new leader is selected by the village elders." He smiled taking a bite of the heavier udon noodles, the meat and vegetables floating in the broth.

Zachariah was about to take a bit of the zucchini when... that. He put down the food, and looked at the boy. Only an academy student and yet this bright. He was practically a prodigy, whereas Suzaku was falling apart on him. He sure knew how to pick people to fill the role of mizukage.... "Well, that is not the only scenario. I can think of several others, although admittedly... none are as plausible as the one you described. However, it maintains my point. People will not blindly follow a leader." He picked up the zucchini again and took a bite, before dipping it again and asking for some water that noodles were boiled in.

Kairashi gave a slight shrug before taking another bite from his bowl of udon. "You assume most people would spot the signs before it was too late, and that the leader loses all control and orders suicide, instead of sending troops with promise of reinforcements to defend a not very strategic but nevertheless targeted area. While the leader sends the reinforcements to another area to bolster the defense of say the home capital, and leaves the group to die alone waiting for something that never comes."

"True enough. Now, what is to stop a perfectly sane leader from doing something of this sort? Sometimes, sanity is worse than insanity." He picked up some noodles with his chopsticks and dipped them in the sauce, slurping them up. His other hand was help up, the pointer finger raised, to signal he still wished to speak. "What if that group was of possible traitors, but such information was unconfirmed, for example?"

The corners of the mans mouth twitched slightly upward, "well I suppose the best way to confirm or deny the truth of this would be to leave them there as bait bring in the largest group of talent you can from backwater and unimportant areas, watch the start of the battle then bring down the second attack from behind the enemy that rushes in to charge your understaffed outpost and keep attacking until no one is fighting your forces anymore, ally or foe...as long as they stop swinging at your colors they live to become prisoners and have their minds read." Kairashi shrugged killing off his bowl of udon without any trace of hesitation, "and if no battle starts you coordinate an attack from all nearby positions to turn the organic contents of the outpost to ash, as long as the entire threat is dealt with you can always rewrite the history books...so long as you win."

This person sitting next to him had an... interesting way of thinking of things. It was just this sort of person who could change the world. A person with a masterful use of words could alter a lot more than someone with a masterful use of jutsu. This type of the person was the type to fear, the type to make sure never, ever, had a grudge against you. His thoughts would likely be visible through his facial expression, to some limited extent. He had finished his noodles while the person next to him talked, as well as his tempura. "Well. You certainly have a unique view of the world. So, you would rather risk the lives of innocents to secure the capture of the guilty?"

Kairashi smiled, setting his chopsticks in the empty bowl. Turning slightly to look Zachariah in the eyes he address the other man rather casually, "Well the lives of the innocent is a bit of a conundrum isn't it? After all, everyone has done something out of line or 'illegal' at some point in their life, even minor things can turn into the difference between the success of your forces and the defeat and death of all. I'd much rather remove any trace of traitors than have those doubts forever looming in the back of my mind, the worst thing you could do as a leader would be to allow the fall of your 'peaceful' city state to the corruption within its own ranks."
