Back on the feet (P, NK)

(Alright, post quality is gonna go up from this point. I've been pretty damm pathetic thus far)


Haru would hear the girl’s answer, nodding quickly.
”Take all the time you need. I’ll be over here.” He would say, sitting down, cross legged, on the ground near the pond. While she was doing that, he would work on his water training. To unlock his senju blood, he still needed to master that primary element before he could proceed to wood release. He would do what he did in sanctuary before, although this was much harder to do when you were TRYING to do it. Things almost never worked out as well that way. He would simply thrust his hand into the pond water, sending chakra from his hands, and watching the water bubble slightly around it. Was this how he was supposed to do this? He hadn’t the slightest clue what he was doing, but at least something was happening. He would try to will the water to move, attempting to make it climb up, past the surface of the pond, the same way he had with the dirt when Den finally let him go to solid ground in sanctuary. His hand would release waves of chakra, trying first to get the water to stick to his hands like when used with the water walking technique, and then trying to push it away by simply releasing a small wave of chakra. He felt like he was getting the hang of it, starting to get the rhythm of it down. This would go on for a few minutes, until Youta felt she was sufficiently rested.
 
He glanced over his shoulder a few moments after Youta stood up from her spot on the ground, telling him she was ready. She would approach him, putting about five meters of distance between them. That was all well and good, but he wanted to stay by the water, so that he could actually do something to train up his water nature while they were fighting. So, he would stand up, casually walking over the surface of the water with the water walking technique, before turning to face her. The distance between the two of them would now be somewhere around 8 meters. He would assume his fighting stance, beckoning her forward. His stance would differ from his usual one, this form of it would have his left arm held in front of him to be used like a shield if needed, his right arm behind his back. A flick of his wrist would deploy the weapon he would be using this time around, the hidden blade. His left foot would be facing diagonally to his right and forward, his left would be facing diagonally to his right and back. This stance, while not so good for offensive techniques, was perfect for defense and counter attacks, especially with his large, armored left hand taking the most of the damage for him.
”Ready when you are. Come on.” He would say, waiting for her to attack. As he waited, partly for the effect of intimidation, and partly because it was fun to do, he would send chakra down into the water, causing it to bubble around him as if his mere presence caused it to boil.
 
 He hoped she at least knew the water walking technique, or else this would be kind of awkward…. He couldn’t remember if genin were required to know it or not, he couldn’t recall being tested on it in his genin exams, but then again, he recalled very little of his time in the academy. ”Err… You do know how to do this, right?” He would ask shortly after beckoning her forward if she stalled for a moment or so, nodding to his feet to indicate what he meant.

Standing up from the ground the girl would notice Haru by the pond. Her activated Seigan would see him pumping chakra into the water. At the time she would have no idea what he was doing really. As she walked up to him and as stated before, picked up her stance, offering another round, he would increase the distance between them by going over the water, of course using the water walking to stay on the surface. But the water walking itself did not interest the girl as she had known it since before she even met Yozora. No, what did get her attention was the strange chakra coming from Haru's feet, into the water and making it bubble. It was certainly not a function of the technique, meaning Haru was doing it on purpose, or maybe it was a byproduct of something else... maybe that ability with bones.

Regardless, the girl seemingly lost her interest in the fight as it shifted to this phenomenon. "Yes, I know the water walking technique, but say... what is that?" She would point at the water, meaning the bubbles of course.

Haru glanced at his feet.
”Oh, I was practicing water chakra control. It’s a good practice to keep doing this as often as you can, I would imagine.” He would explain, dropping his guard. Apparently, they were no longer fighting, as Youta’s attention was lost from the fight. ”I’m releasing chakra into the water, trying to control it.” He would say, moving his foot and creating a small wave of water from the chakra on his foot. ”You can try it if you want, maybe we’d learn faster if we worked together.” He would tell her, trying to shift the flow of the pond under his feet. So far, he was ineffective, but it was to be expected, and he felt he was at least doing SOMETHING.
 
If youta decided to train water chakra with him, he would back up, making room on the surface of the pond. It then occurred to him that he wanted to master water chakra, yet had never in his life gone swimming. There weren’t exactly lakes to go into, and fights involving bodies of water were usually done on the surface of the water. So, he would simply fall back, not worrying about wetting his clothes or anything like that, just turning off the surface walking technique, and letting himself plunge into the shallow pond. Once he was submerged, he opened his eyes, looking around, as he tried to move the water around him. The current started to change as he moved the water, though he couldn’t tell if he was doing it with his hands or not. He would stay down there for a minute or so, before his lungs told him he needed air. He would bring himself back to the surface, pulling himself out of the water.
”That felt good…” He would mutter, gasping for air as he sat on the surface of the water.

Youta would listen to Haru's reply. Water chakra, huh. That made sense and also showed the difference in their skill if the boy could keep his attention on the fight and at the same time train his chakra control like that. Whatever, the girl was now obviously more interested in this training than the fight. Why, you might want to ask. Well, it was something she knew for some time. Back when she was a kid, before her parents died, when she did not live in the mainland, from back then she remembered hearing that her clan was uniquely attuned to the element of water. Apparently it was in her blood, although her training with Yozora revealed that the girl possessed stronger affinity to wind, her most dominant element. That was why Youta mastered her wind first and why she had yet to master her water control. This presented such an opportunity, if Haru was learning it, then maybe they could help each other.

Seeing the Hyuuga relax, the girl would also sheathe her weapon. As she walked up to the pond, Haru would back up, making her some space. He would then suddenly undo the water walking technique and submerge underwater. Kneeling down, Youta would place her right palm on the water, channeling her chakra into the pond. As she did so, her eyes would glow brighter, although neither she nor Haru could see this. Although she had her eyes open and could both see Haru underwater and see the chakra swirling around him, she could also, through her contact with water feel the current below. Actually, at this point she was not sure which one of them was responsible for it. Maybe it was a combination of both. Only when the boy returned to the surface, muttering about how good it felt, would Youta remember that the pond was not taken care of for quite some time, because Yozora was dead and she did not really work on this garden much when she was alive either. So, as the boy surfaced, she would see him covered in various underwater plants and alga. It was a funny sight so she let out a chuckle. Then she would raise her hand from the water. To her surprise, as if glued to it the surface would bend and the water would follow it into the water. Not all of it, but a good liter would detach from the rest. Wish a swift swing she would throw it, splashing it into his face. It would not hit hard, but it would do some work in cleaning his dirty face.

As Haru came out of the water, covered in algae and seaweed and other various underwater plants, rubbing his eyes, he would soon feel a smack across his face as Youta threw water at him or something. He would swear loudly, rubbing his eyes. When his vision finally cleared, he would picking up a glob of water with his foot, and throwing it at Youta as payback. It would connect with her face, most likely not hurting too much, but blinding her the same way she had just done to Haru. He would then begin to try and clear the algae from his body, lifting globs of water and splashing them against his body, trying to get the dammed algae off.
 
”What a mess…” He would mutter. He was covered in the stuff. Then an idea would pop into his head. He was thankfully already a few meters from Youta, so this was unlikely to hit her. He would begin to spin, creating a dome of chakra yet again to expel the algae. As it flew off his body, it was thrown off him in all directions, causing a wild tornado of plant life, some of it heading in Youta’s direction, aimed to cover her. That was, of course, completely accidental. Another accidental quality of this water typhoon was that Haru’s dome also picked up some water, as well as what he had been earlier controlling, causing Youta to be just as soaked by the water as he was.
 
When he finished the spin, he would note that the chakra had also expelled quite a bit of water from his clothes, giving a similar effect to when you beat a wet shirt to dry it. Well, that worked out pretty well for him. Not so well for Youta, of course.

After getting hit with a splash of water, Haru would rub his eyes and send pay Youta back in kind, kicking some water her way. It was not the most kind of acts - I mean, what does he care if he got some water on him, meant to help wash the plants and dirt off, of course, when he was already fully wet after taking that dive. Youta on the other hand was fully, nicely, cozily dry and that just changed when she got hit back with water. Unfortunately she would not get the chance to express her discomfort and anger about her state, as soon after the girl would spot a wave of water and plants flying at her. The source was of course Haru, who just started his spin move that the girl saw before. Repelling the algae, seaweed and water away from himself, he would now sent it everywhere around, including on Youta.

And so, she was now fully soaked wet, lucky the plants did not stick to her and would slide down to the ground. Her face did not express how lucky it was though, it was more like a 'I'm gonna kill you' kind of expression. It took a major amount of self control on her part, some of the credit obviously went to Yozora, who's training motto was Self Control, one could say. Letting out a sigh, Youta would clap her hands together, close her eyes and infuse chakra into her clothes. She would slowly make it water chakra and make force the liquid out. In a minute the air around her would be covered in small, floating drops of water. Opening her eyes the girl would see this field around her, like someone stopped the time during rain. Releasing it, she would make the drops fall and seep into the ground below. She was now dry again.

Haru  grinned broadly as Youta was soaked by his rotation. Revenge was a dish best served cold and wet. He noticed the “I’m gonna gut you like a pig” stare and responded by rolling his eyes, resisting the temptation to dunk her in the pond for that. Shrugging, he glanced to the entrance of the garden. They had been there for quite awhile, and he had the feeling he had something he was forgetting to do. Maybe… ah, yes, take a nap. He was starting to feel a little drowsy. So, with that, he would nod in Youta’s direction before speaking.
 

”Well, I think I gotta go. I’ll see ya when I see ya.” And with that, he would start to walk, briskly, out of the garden, contemplating the fact that he had actually gotten something quite useful out of that fight, rather then simply humoring Youta with a one-sided sword fight. He felt like he’d mastered water with surprising ease, just as easily as he had mastered the earth element. Perhaps he was meant to know them? That had to be it, he was destined to walk this path. Now, just one obstacle remained in his path: Mokuton. Wood Release. Well, he still had a few more steps, but he didn’t like to think about those ones quite yet.

When Youta was done, Haru would say he had to go somewhere and leave the garden. Following him as he left, Youta could not help it, but feel like it was rushed. Maybe he did not plan to fight her for so long, maybe he only intended to come and check up on her in the hospital. Whatever the case, he really helped. Although tired, the girl could certainly feel she had gotten stronger and quite possibly had finally cracked water element, which she already knew she had an affinity for. But before heading home, Youta would take a walk in the garden, passing the new still pond, it was calm here, when nobody was fighting. If Yozora was really dead and the place was no longer used, maybe she could claim it, or buy it, whatever was the official action. Walking back to the house she would pick up her bag, toss it over the shoulder, next to the ninjato that Haru gave her and then leave. Her mind would be filled with thoughts of her master again...
