We're all out of pixie dust... (P,NK,IO)
Thu Apr 03, 2014 10:29 pm
Haru waited at the team’s meeting spot, which he had designated as the top of the training towers. Today’s lesson? Flying. Hopefully. Keisuke was unable to show up, probably sick or something, so he was being temporarily replaced… with the kid he had just met the other day, Altar. What a small world he lived in, as it seemed that he had met every single member of his team in a similar fashion. Violently. And by an incredible stroke of luck, that kid probably had the dragon egg he had dropped. Otherwise, this would be awkward for him. He sighed, stroking the dragon that lay at his feet, which was pitch black and sporting a rather dangerous looking pair of horns, newly grown. Noctis had hit a… a bit of a growth spurt. He was now easily larger then Haru, although not as big as he was supposed to be at full size. Still, the beast had grown by an impressive amount, and was now capable of flight, as well as carrying Haru, an experience that had been nothing less of terrifying on their first attempt. Haru was rather eager to see the progress that his student’s dragons had made, and whether they were capable of raising such an animal to begin with.
”Are they EVER gonna show up?” Noctis would ask, rather loudly. The beast was laying on his back, fumbling with Haru’s Soul Crystal, which the crafty little beast had somehow nicked from him. Haru would look down at the creature, annoyed, before spotting the crystal in his hands and quickly swiping it away.
”How many times do I have to tell you not to touch that? I’ll get you another gem if that’s what it takes, you greedy little snake.” He scolded the dragon, who rolled over excitedly at the prospect of adding to his horde. Haru wasn’t sure if it was normal for Sanctuary Dragons to do this, or if he just had one particular beast who was just obsessed with jewels and other such valuables.
”What kinda gem?” Noctis asked in a businesslike tone, folding his front legs and resting his head on them, giving a purposeful stare in Haru’s direction.
”We’ll see. It depends on how good you are, and if you ever touch this thing again, You’ll never hold anything valuable again. Savvy?” Haru would say, annoyed, to Noctis, who stared at the ground like a child being yelled at by his parents, which was pretty much exactly what was going on now.

Altar woke up, the sun shining through his window blinding him as he drug himself slowly out of bed, slinking to the bathroom as he rubbed the sleep and blindness out of his eyes. He hopped in the shower, the scalding water yielding no effect. After standing under the pour for a while, he stepped back out, throwing his clothes on. He sat back down on his bed, looking at the curled up beast laying at the foot of his bed. Altar rubbed his head, wondering how this was even possible. It had all started as a small gag, that turned into a fight, and suddenly by the end of the day he had been called to order by Haru, and was left with a baby dragon that, in all honesty, belonged to him as well. What a cruel twist of fate, the harsh mistress being ever the opportunist, as he was to sub for one of Haru's team. Altar laid back on the bed, wondering if today was going to turn out like last time had...
Altar sat back up, the stirring dragon at the foot of his bed waking him from his thoughts. He looked at Tenebris, deciding now was as good a time as ever, as he leaned over and woke the sleeping reptile. It cracked an eye, rolling over and opening it's mouth wide. It looked at Altar, sleep still vivible in it's eyes. "Morning?" The drake asked, groggily moving out of bed. Altar grinned at the remark, watching Tenebris slide, sluggish, out of bed and onto the floor. "Yes, Tenebris, it's morning. Now come on, we gotta go see Haru." Altar said, walking out the door, Tenebris close behind him.
As the duo neared the training towers, it crossed Altar's mind that they would need to find a way up. He looked at Tenebris, noticing now in the sunlight how vivid and detailed the young dragon had become. The black had become somewhat deeper, and more shaded, whereas the crimson had become a bit more apparant and vivid, coming a small way from the dull tone it had once been, but it was a change all the same. "I've never much been a fan of the easy way. I think i'll climb. Tenebris, you can go ahead and go inside, take that way to the top, okay?" Altar said to the dragon.
After a good few minutes of climbing, Altar met Tenebris at the top of the towers. Altar stood as straight as he could, looking at Haru and...Noctis? Noctis had hot a growth spurt, it seemed... He'd have to find out what that was all about. Altar walked up within a reasonable distance of Haru and Noctis, calling at them to let them know he was here.
"Haru, Noctis, such a pleasure to see you two again. Maybe this time we won't end up trying to take each other's heads off, yeah?" Altar said, grinning and looking to Haru as the second half was said.

So they would have another team meeting that day, it would seem. This wasn't long after their first meeting really. Maybe a few days, honestly, Youta kind of lost track of time. It felt like months, because each day raising the dragon was more colorful and detailed than it normally would have been. The whole thing would still take time to get used to. Maybe living in Yozora's house was a change that also added to this. It was a second morning the Genin and her dragon woke up in the place. The house was a lot more specious than her previous apartment, maybe even too much as there were empty rooms Youta had no idea what to do with. She was however really enjoying the living room on the first floor, the hearth and the big wall windows allowed a look at the garden. It was actually where she was right now, sitting on the couch with a cup of hot tea in her hands, looking at the pond outside. Cael was by the fire, he was letting out a silent purr sound. Their morning began a bit earlier today, so there was still some time until the meeting.
But they wouldn't linger. After finishing the drink Youta would head up to her room on the second floor and gear up. As usual her two katanas would be put on her back so the handles were over her right and left shoulders, the two ninjato's would be on her back around the waist, also accessible from the left and right. It was pretty much how she remembered her master wearing the weapons. Today however she would not conceal them under a cloak, which she would leave at home. When she was done the girl would head back down where she would find Cael putting out the fire. Not with his hands as one might assume. No, she have already determined that he isn't anymore resistant to fire than other animals or people, but he was fairly smart so he used the remainders of the water Youta heated up for her tea. And then he would look up at her, he was obviously fairly anxious to go out and see the other dragons. In these last few days he had grown quite a bit. The girl wouldn't carry him no more as he was now easily her size, well if you put him vertically anyway, probably even bigger.
To avoid unwanted stares or even scares, the two would plan their route through the rooftops. Their destination, the training towers, would be quite in their sights. Unlike some daring others, Youta and Cael would take the elevator up. Once there, the two would find themselves on the roof where they would spot Haru, Noctis (oh he has grown alright, much like Cael), another yet unseen dragon and a boy it probably belonged to. She was pretty much on time, so guess the remaining members of the team were late or something. In a silent greeting she would raise her hand to hail Haru. Cael would do the same at Noctis.

Sayuri woke up with a terrible backache. She had started sleeping on the couch after she converted her bedroom into Lux's own playpen. She got up and rushed to the bathroom where she took a quick shower to fully wake up for the day. Walking out of the bathroom, she saw Lux whimpering in front of the door. Sayuri was used to her doing this as it meant she was hungry. Upon seeing a couple birds on the windowsill, Sayuri slowly opened the window and allowed Lux to feast on them. Some might find this odd or morbid, but to Sayuri, it was the cycle of life. Sayuri then focused on her own nutrition, grabbing a banana after she had gotten dressed in her usual outfit. She exited her home as she made her way to the meeting place of the their team, she looked over to her side where Lux landed and would be walking next to her after having her meal. Lux had grown quite a good amount since the last time her team had had a training session. He wasn't big enough that he could not fit in their home, but nonetheless, his tail kept knocking everything over. Eventually, Sayuri had converted her room into Lux's own room, while she now slept on the couch. Even if this was an inconvenience for her, she felt an immediate bond with Lux and hoped that she had as well.
Sayuri would make her way to the training towers through back alleys and such. She didn't feel like going through the main streets and watch people stare at her or ask questions. She looked down at Lux and smiled. The little red scaled reptile kept at Sayuri's side. They continued on the path until they could see the training towers in the distance. At this point, Lux had learned how to fly, or rather ascend which Sayuri allowed her to do to reach the top of the training towers, However, Sayuri would simply walk along the building's wall to reach the top with Lux. The two would smile at each other as they raced to the summit. Once they reached the top, the smiles went away as they looked at the others waiting for them. "Hello Haru, Youta and.... I'm sorry, I don't know your name."

Haru folded his arms as, one by one, his students arrived. Altar came first, coming up over the wall. Oh, so he was a climber, too? Good, that was a good sign. It was a bit odd to see for him, then, that the elevator door popped open to reveal what he could only assume was his dragon. In an elevator. How pathetic. It seemed they had found the runt. Nah, his wings probably just aren’t strong enough to fly. That was something they would hopefully get over today.
”He won’t jump in the crossfire this time, kid. Don’t worry.” He would respond teasingly.
Next came Youta and her dragon, who had grown to about Noctis’s size. Impressive. Still, it saddened him to see the elevator being put to use when you could just walk up the wall. Haru would nod quietly in response to Youta’s greeting, whereas Noctis would shout, rather loudly.
”FINALLY, you guys are here!”
When Sayuri arrived, he was glad to see another flier in the group. In addition, he noted her attitude was much better today, and she, hopefully, had gotten over her hatred for him. Maybe.
Haru would pull himself to his feet, clapping his hands together loudly, rubbing them together, before holding his arms out wide.
”Well, it’s good to see you guys made it. This is Altar Shinkou, he’ll be replacing tree murde-Keisuke, I mean, while he deals with personal problems. I hear it’s counseling for violent behavior towards innocent creatures.” He would say, shaking his head and getting back on task. ”Anyways, I had an idea for training with flight. I had a course set up for midair combat practice. Sounds fun, right? If you would just direct your attention over here…” He would explain, pointing to what appeared to be a ropes course, moving downwards, upwards, and horizontally to connect with the roofs of other buildings. Next to them were large coils of rope, with clips and harnesses to hold the kids, and specially made ones for the dragons. ”So, everybody hook up to a harness, and attach to a line. Altar, I don’t think your little tyke can fly, so you can borrow Noctis, if you like.” He would offer, as Noctis looked up, studying the boy curiously.

Altar seated himself, saying nothing in return to Haru's comment. He didn't wish to start another fight, especially not when Tenebris may be endangered by it. Quite the opposite, he gave a quiet sigh, watching as his dragon waddled itself over to him, planting itself next to him. Well, they were the only ones here, so it now appeared a waiting game. Altar closed his eyes, laying back and awaiting Haru's student's arrivals. Tenebris, next to him, also started drowsing into a deep sleep. Altar inwardly chuckled at that, the little drake took every opportunity to sleep. But he was sure that was just him being a baby, as he would remain for a while it seemed.
Altar's eyes snapped open at the sound of a clap, as he looked around to see the students had arrived. Standing, he stretched and ran a hand lightly over his right shoulder, looking to see Tenebris already awake and about. As Haru explained why he was here, Altar drowned him out, looking to each member of the group, and each person's dragon. It seemed each was capable of flight, which made him worry of Tenebris. Was he just slow proceeding, or maybe had he been hatched late? Altar shrugged it off, deciding that he always enjoyed the runt of the litter. It always had more fight in him than the rest did, always eager to prove himself. However, it seemed that Tenebris had the same anti-social behavior as his master, as Tenebris made no attempt to greet anyone in any fashion. Not that that was a bad thing, after all, he didn't know these people. They may be like him, or they may be supremely outwardly friendly. He hoped against the latter, otherwise this was going to be a bad day.
Altar half listened to Haru as he said something about a tree murderer. Er, no? Someone named Keisuke. His eyes followed as Haru pointed to the ropes course. It seemed to veer every which way, twisting and turning about the rooftops. Haru then offered to let him use Noctis, seeing as his own Tenebris couldn't fly.
"Sure, Haru, i'll take Noctis. Just so long as he promises not to make any more lunges for my neck. Oh, and Tenebris stays with me." Altar would say, pointing to his dragon, who had walked up next to him while he was talking.

After being greeted by Haru and his fairly loud dragon, Youta would walk up closer to them as they were apparently still waiting. In the mean time Cael would run up an the edge of the tower and in a minute make a whistle like sound as he saw Sayuri and Lux coming up the side of the tower. When they finally reached the top he would run back to Youta who could see in his eyes that he terribly wanted to fly and that he will, in a moment. She'd wave in response to Sayuri, then Haru spoke, explaining their training today, well to a degree at least. As the final sentence came to air, the girl took one of the coiled ropes and hooked herself up. Making sure it held fit she'd look at Cael and ask. "Eager for a flying lesson?" The little beast jumped a few times in one spot expressing its anxiety and a smile. "Well then..." She'd gear him up and hook up to a rope as well. "You're set!" Then she did something maybe not entirely expected. With a nudge of her leg she pushed him off the edge. He was ready, in all senses, so why wait, eh? And well, guess what, in a moment he shoot straight up until the rope stopped him. Marveling at the sight for a few moments Youta would then turn around at Haru. "Well, what now?"

Her friend appeared preoccupied with other stuff, so Youta decided to think for herself. And for her dragon of course. She watched as Cael gracefully soared in the wind. It seems he did not need any flying lessons after all. For a moment her and the dragon's eyes met and a strange sensation caught Youta off guard. She could clearly feel how her Seigan activated despite her not summoning it. Cael was not looking somewhere else and the feeling was gone, but it did not slip past unnoticed. Watching the winged lizard fly around the girl was lost in thought. She was sorry her parents were not here to advise her on her heritage, the Seigan. It was a complex and deep power that she needed to explore all by herself, there were risks no doubt, but if she was to simply suppress it, it would surface in some other form, possibly some disorder. Which is why she had to keep all of it in order and with strict self-discipline.
Slowly, she calmed herself and her eyes returned to normal. Hopefully, the change was not noticed by the others in the first place. Lingering a bit, Youta debated on whether or not there was any point in participating in this exercise. Cael was clearly very much capable of flight and it might just depress the others if they are not as successful. Further more, now with that strange occurrence, Youta wanted to do some training herself and this was not a proper place for that. It appeared the best course was for them to leave. Youta turned towards Haru "Sorry, it seems Cael does not need flying lessons and I have some things I want to take care of, we'll go." With that she whistled for her dragon to come to her, took off the harness and then both of them returned home, where Youta meditated on her strange sensation.

Altar looked between Haru and Noctis, deciding that it would not be the best idea to use a dragon that was not his for the ensuing ride. Instead, while everyone was preoccupied, Altar took the opportunity to grab Tenebris and sneak away. This would need to wait until the tiny drake was much more grown.
