"guard duty" (D rank mission)

He had had lunch and now Hysterio felt much better. He went off to get another mission assignment, on the way he passed a little old woman leaving her garden, running off ahead of him to the office. He glanced at her house and saw that a raccoon was eating some fruit which were growing on a vine. He was tempted to run in there and stop it, but the old woman was likely going to throw a fit if he entered without permission. He sighed, sometimes people were so foolish.

He walked down the street, and saw the old woman walking into the office a couple of blocks ahead of him. Hmm, if he had to guess….

He entered, and there was no line, for once, to get a mission. The commissioner waved him over, and gave him an address, saying that there was a raccoon that needed to be frightened away from an old woman’s garden but without it actually being hurt.

Hysterio tried not to laugh, if he had known how things would have turned out he might have just stayed where he had found the raccoon instead of walking all the way up to be told to do precisely that. He left the office, ready to do his assignment, reviewing a genjutsu he was attempting to learn. He kind of wished he had been learning a different one he had seen that showed ones inner fears to the target, but he could not be picky. It took time to learn the genjutsu to paralyze people after all.

He walked up to the garden with the raccoon and checked the address, explaining his mission to the old woman, who owned the house and was let in the garden.

The sound of munching did little to hide the raccoon’s presence. Hysterio picked up a rock and used the Rock Section Cane jutsu to make it into a full blown stick. Then, he decided to scare the raccoon. He swung his new stick around, attracting the raccoon’s attention. When the raccoon looked at Hysterio he paralyzed it with his incomplete genjutsu, while making a large commotion with his stick, rapidly approaching the raccoon. When the incomplete genjutsu wore off after a few brief moments, the raccoon fled, and Hysterio stopped swinging his stick. He checked the garden but it seemed his job was complete. He headed back to the commissioner to report.
