Learning the Transformation Technique
Wed Nov 18, 2015 7:17 am
Arai sat in the front of the class, right in front of the instructor as he gave his lessons. She scribbled down notes quickly as the instructor gave them, eager to pass her exam coming up in a few weeks. She had been doing well in all the fields so far, and she intended to carry her high grades home with a headband.
"-and now, we'll be learning the Transformation technique." The instructor announced. Arai looked up at him, surprised, but eager. She had heard from one of her friends who'd graduated that she just needed to learn two E rank jutsu and demonstrate them for a proctor. Learning this meant she was one step closer to genin. She smiled to herself at the thought. The proctor caught her smile approached her, a stern look on his face.
"Arai." he barked. Her smile disappeared immediately. "Why are you smiling?"
"Its nothing sir." Arai claimed. She didn't want to bother the Instructor with her thoughts. The Instructor wouldn't let up though. As good a teacher as he was, he also was very strict.
"Then perhaps you'd be willing to tell me what we'll be learning today."
"The transformation technique, sir." Arai responded, showing that she had, in fact, been paying attention. Although barely perceptible, the corners of the instructor's mouth curved into a relieved grin. It seemed like he didn't want to yell at anyone today and was glad it didn't have to happen yet.
"Correct. Perhaps you would like to demonstrate, Arai." This is where Arai froze up. Had the instructor given the knowledge out already and she missed it? What was she supposed to say? No? Did you give that knowledge out yet? The instructor rolled his eyes and gestured Arai to the front of the class.
"Don't worry. We'll learn it was we go along." The instructor said. Arai sighed in relief. At least she hadn't missed anything. She walked to the front of the class beside the instructor as he instructed.
"Now. The handsigns will be Dog, Boar, Ram." The instructor demonstrated each one. Arai mimicked him as best she could, keeping the images of the signs in mind.
"Focus your chakra around you." the instructor told them. "Imagine It as a veil, wrapping around your body in an illusion." That only got numerous murmurs amongst the students and even more blank stares. The look on the instructor's face was priceless. Arai grinned again, but hid it quickly as the Instructor's gaze came around.
"Think of it like a coat, covering you from head to toe. This particular coat will project a fake image, making it appear as if you transformed into something or someone." THAT explanation got the attention of the class, much to the Instructor's relief. Arai didn't think he knew of a simpler way to put it. He turned to Arai, looking at her expectantly.
"Demonstrate what I've just explained." the Instructor... well.... instructed. Arai nodded, putting together everything she had learned. First, she called on her chakra reserves, sending it around her body like a thin cloak. She imagined it like a coat of water, floating upon her flesh. She weaved the three signs: Dog Boar Ram and POOF she was enveloped in a cloud of smoke. The first person that popped into her head was the instructor and when she the smoke cleared, the other students "ooohed" and "ah'ed" at how well she had mimicked the teacher. She let her concentration break, causing her illusion to fade.
"Very Good!" The Instructor complimented. He then turned to the class. "There'll be a test on this technique tomorrow!" This announcement was met with the groans of many of the students but not Arai. She was happy that she had used the transformation technique. And on her first try! She must have a knack for this stuff...
