Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Lack of Control [Open, NK]

Wed Jan 06, 2016 8:35 pm
A half-tiger hand seal...

His lips slightly parted...

"Gah... !" he exclaimed in shock, the fire simply exploding in his face and sending him flying back. He fell onto his bottom, wincing from the hard and rough impact. What happened was completely unexpected; kneading the chakra and expelling it on a first try was exceptional, but he's never heard of it exploding. The jutsu was a weak and basic one too... what was he doing so wrong to mess up such a basic technique? Jiro groaned, shutting his eyes tight in irritation. Annoying it was, how things refused to go the way he wanted them to. However, his stubbornness refused to let him quit, especially when he's only tried the jutsu once. But, perhaps if he hadn't bothered asking his teacher at the academy about elements, he wouldn't be in his current situation.

After hearing that he possessed an element as destructive as fire though, who wouldn't hold the desire to test it?

In a rush to do just that, he selected the first jutsu he spotted in the academy scrolls, believing it wouldn't be too difficult. It was a jutsu meant for the younger generation after all. However, maybe he was a bit too cocky in thinking he would easily grasp the technique. In that case, he just had to keep working at it... The blond slowly rose to his feet, legs a bit shaky and sweat running down the sides of his head. A deep breath, another half-tiger seal, and then slightly parted lips...

"GUAH!"

Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Re: Lack of Control [Open, NK]

Clad in a giant black cloak the draped over his body from neck to feet, the giant of a man methodically strode through the dusty streets of Suna. His weather worn cloak lazily flapped along with the gentle breeze that swept through the village as Nobunaga made his usual rounds around the village. Lately life was quite peaceful for the silent giant of the Sand. Koroshi had no tasks or missions for him and the village was in no apparent threat despite a few anomalies that were eventually worked out by the Kazekage himself. All in all, Nobunaga had a lot of free time on his hands. When he was not training he was off randomly making his way around the village, walking along the wall, checking outposts and making sure there were no issues of any sort. Today, the Hiyu found himself walking in the direction of the training grounds. The training grounds was always one spot of the village Nobunaga enjoyed patrolling through. He enjoyed watching the next generation of young shinobi hard at working, honing their arts and skills to become the next protectors of the village. Occasionally he would also run into stronger, high level shinobi capable of giving him a run for his money.

Not walking the outskirts of the training ground, Nobunaga suddenly herd a young voice cry out. Not reacting to the shout as he knew he was not a cry for help, the Dust member turned off course and slowly made his way towards the source of the sound. His arms crossed under the concealment of his black cloak, Nobunaga came into view of a younger shinobi sitting on his ass. Halting under the shade of a tree beside him, Nobunaga stood tall and silent as he watched the kid struggle through whatever adversity he was facing. "Half-tiger." Nobunaga though to himself as he watched to kid take another attempt "Trying to learn fire jutsus." Taking note, Nobunaga would watch a little while longer to see if the kid was able to hurdle this problem before continuing on his rounds.

Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Re: Lack of Control [Open, NK]

Fri Jan 08, 2016 11:25 pm
After being sent flying back for the second time, the blond was growing even more frustrated. Patience was never his strong point; whenever he did something it needed to be done quickly. Whether it was chores, or reading, or trying to learn certain techniques. He glowered at what seemed to be thin air, actually cursing the jutsu inside his head. But, Jiro still pushed himself back up. One more time, he needed to try it at least one more time... He formed yet another half-tiger seal and motioned to release the expected stream of fire from his mouth. However, the boy suddenly paused while doing so. If he really thought about it... what good would it do to fail another time? No, he first had to track down the source of his problem, and attack it without remorse.

But, what was the problem? Was he not concentrating enough? Not kneading his chakra correctly? If he thought about it... perhaps he wasn't focusing enough on using sheer fire chakra. He was just using, for the most part, his plain and normal chakra. Nodding to himself, the blond then took in a deep breath and spread his legs apart. He made the necessary hand seal, and opened his mouth to release... a smooth stream of fire. At the sight Jiro inwardly cheered, growing excited at his accomplishment. However, before the fire could reach even two meters, it sputtered and suddenly erupted into a mini explosion. Again.

Startled, Jiro immediately flinched and stepped back, almost tripping in the process. He caught himself, stopping the jutsu by closing his mouth immediately afterwards... lest he wished to continue it and burn either himself or something else around. He took a moment to catch his breath, a bit tired from performing the jutsu thrice. But then, he kicked at the sandy surface beneath him, releasing a small yell of anger.

"Dammit!" the boy sharply cursed, his face contorted into a vexed expression, "The hell am I not doing right?!"

Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Re: Lack of Control [Open, NK]

Mon Jan 11, 2016 11:21 pm
From a distance, Nobunaga continued to watch as the young child he was observing had yet to realize he was standing there. The silent sentry watched and analysed the child start to become impatient due to not being able to successfully perform whatever jutsu he was attempting. Impatience was never good. This kid was young and still had much to learn but impatience is an attribute in a shinobi that is never a good one to have. It is an attribute that could very likely get oneself killed or their allies. If left unchanged for too long it becomes harder to become patient. Hopefully this kids sensei would beat it out of him if necessary. Taking note of that fault, Nobunaga also took note of the kids perseverance. Despite clearly being angered by his failure, instead of giving up he found it inside of him to get up and keep working at it. "He's learning." Nobunaga though to himself as he watched the kid stop mid way during his attempt. Nobunaga knew the kid was pondering what he was doing wrong and what his best course of action should be. Reflection. That was good.

Calm as ever Nobunaga watched the kid attempt his jutsu yet again. "Hmmmm." He mumbled to himself as an explosion of fire erupted and knocked the kid off balance. Looking up into the sky, Nobunaga judged what time of day it was by the position of the sun in the sky. Figuring he had enough free time from his patrol, Nobunaga decided to aid the young blood. Stepping out of the shadows, Nobunaga would reply to the kids burst of frustration with two simple words "No control." The giant of a man concealed underneath his black cloak would walk up to the Genin and silently stand 5ft from him. For much of his life Nobunaga had been a mute. Even now that he finally spoke he never spoke a lot, keeping his sentences as short as possible. With his deep, coarse voice Nobunaga explained "Do you run before learning to walk?" Of course that was a rhetorical question. "Molding chakra isnt enough. You must master it."

Walking past the child, Nobunaga would walk up towards the nearest building located beside the training ground. Probably some storage building for training equipment, Nobunaga placed the sole of his right root onto the building. Kicking off with his left foot, Nobunaga started scaling the side of the building completely parallel to the ground bellow. Once reaching the top about 10ft above the ground Nobunaga would sit on the edge with his feet dangling off the edge. "Dictate what your chakra does, do not let it dictate what you do." Scratching his right eye Nobunaga would look down at the kid and said "Get up here." Nobunaga would wait to see if the kid was able to walk up the wall and if not then he would go into the fine details of the skill and fully explain how to do it.

Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Re: Lack of Control [Open, NK]

The comment was sudden, unexpected, and Jiro almost jumped in surprise. Acting on reflexes, he immediately turned to face the voice's direction. But to shock him even further was the large individual in his sights, one apparently walking towards him. Having been concealed in a black cloak, the blond was unable to see their features, and such a thing made him slightly uneasy. So once the stranger stopped a mere five feet away from him, his gaze hesitantly went upwards. He could not lie; he was feeling quite intimidated. Being one with a rather... short stature, certain people managed to appear a bit too big, a bit too menacing for his tastes. Such a thing was the case here, and the boy could only listen to (what seemed to be) the advice being given to him.

However... molding his chakra wasn't enough? By then he was merely staring at the giant, a hint of cautiousness and a dash of curiosity on his features. Not yet a ninja, the concept was foreign to him. From what he was capable of seeing, to conduct jutsu one merely needed to use a bit of chakra and "bam", their technique works and it works properly. To seasoned shinobi his perspective was naive, and that was true. But, with the things exposed to him in the academy, adopting those ideas were to be expected. Right? Or was he just a special case? Either way, Jiro looked on as the stranger made their way past him, and soon walked after them. Upon reaching the building, he stopped about two meters away, and was at first confused to see the giant put their foot on its side. Just what had they planned to do?

His question was soon answered, his eyes widening and jaw going slack as the giant ascended the building's side. It was a sight he hadn't witnessed as of yet. While he knew of ninja jumping from roof or treetops, for that was common, not once has he seen someone climb a building... without their hands. Jiro proceeded to gulp at the stranger's demand of "getting up there", but then... he furrowed his eyebrows and frowned. Stubborn. He was stubborn. He wouldn't quit just because he wasn't sure on how to scale the building, or that he'd seem stupid trying. He would find a way. So, the boy took a few steps back, assuming he'd need a running start with his inexperience. After a moment or so of preparation, the blond rushed forward as fast as he could, and actually managed to reach a meter or two up the wall.

His accomplishment was short lived though, for he then lost his built up momentum and gravity mercilessly pushed down onto him. Jiro clicked his teeth, scowling before pushing off the wall and landing on the ground. However, the youth didn't attempt climbing it again. Instead, he paused and thought back to the giant's words...

"... Am I..." he started out, pausing for a second only to speak again, much louder this time, "Am I supposed to use my chakra?" To him, it was embarrassing to ask what might be obvious to the stranger... but, it was necessary.

Lack of Control [Open, NK] Empty Re: Lack of Control [Open, NK]

Sun Jan 24, 2016 5:25 pm
With his index and middle finger, Nobunaga rubbed the scar that ran down from the centre of the top of his forehead, across his right eyelid and down to the right end of his jaw as he looked down at the child with an unwavering solid expression plastered on his face. He was easily able to analyse the child's thoughts by watching him. His actions, facial expressions, the pause in his movements told Nobunaga everything he needed to know. The child knew not how to scale the wall or even approach it but as before the Hiyu saw determination in the child. Silently Nobunaga watched the kid prepare for a running start. Having not ran himself, Nobunaga knew that the child would attempt to scale the building with speed alone. Immediately knowing that he would fail, Nobunaga said nothing and simply watched the kid's attempt. If he had interrupted him before his first attempt then the child would never have tried and inevitably failed. Therefore Nobunaga let him fail for it is through trying and failure that one learns.

As predicted, Jiro ascending the wall through sheer speed but the laws of physics took over and threw him back down onto the ground. Crossing his arms under the concealment of his large weather worn cloak, his half closed eyes gazed down at Jiro waiting to see what happened next. Instead of attempting another try that would inevitably fail, the kid asked for further instructions. Nobunaga would nod his head a grunt as a "yes" response to the academy student's question. With his deep, horse voice Nobunaga would respond "Mold the chakra under your feet. Keep constant flow. Too little and you will fall, too much and you will shoot off. Like magnets." As usual Nobunaga kept it short and sweet. Essentially he was telling the kid that climbing up the wall with chakra worked the same as magnets. If the magnet is too weak than the metal will simply slip away. But if the magnetic connection is too strong than the two metals will push themselves away from one another. The trick was to be in the middle ground, have just enough chakra molded under the soles of his feet to neither slip nor propel himself from the tree but attract himself to it.
