Covert Affairs [P]

Kurisu had hoped for a way to bring up the Kumo threat but he didn't need to bring it up as one of his ANBU presented that very thing to him. With his ANBU ready to deal with the previous issues it was time to dig into the threat that Kumo posed. "I've been informed of some troubling things in regards to Kumo lately, being taken over by Akatsuki and turning the village into a living nightmare. If it was merely a case of misplaced leadership I'd probably consider to not be a threat; however, considering that it was high level criminals that took over the village I'm concerned that they won't want to stop there. Looking at Konoha's position in the world we're a prime target if they decide they want to expand or move on to a new village."

He'd pause for a moment to let his ANBU express their thoughts if any before proceeding to the task that he wanted them to complete. "Its a risk, but necessary, I need the three of you to scout the surroundings of Kumo and if possible infiltrate the village in order to gain as much information as possible. Main things we need to know is how many people they have at their disposal, the types of defenses the village has, and an idea of the layout." it was definitely a risky mission but with how much the village has changed since his reign as Raikage there was no telling what the village even looked like now or how populated it is. Konoha's ANBU had always been praised as being top of line and able to handle most tasks present to them.

Konohagakure and Kumogakure, two distinct villages yet both could lay claim to crafting operative Wolf into what she was today. Konohagakure raised her and taught her to love while Kumogakure hardened her and taught her to hate. So, when the topic of Kumogakure came to the table she unconsciously straightened her back and perked her ears. For without a doubt something wicked festered in Kumogakure. Though, as her fellow operatives rightfully pointed out, Konoha knew next to nothing about the village they had once allied with.

Times change.

The woman did not voice any opinions when the Hokage paused. Rather she merely nodded in agreement; words were not needed at this time. Next came the request, well it was probably more an order, to gather information on Kumogakure. No, this was not unexpected, but that did not make returning to the cursed village anymore amenable in the woman's mind. That being said there was only one simple answer to the Hokage's request...

"Understood," Ashi replied. "When would you like us to set out?"

There was no saying no, Wolf learned such a truth long ago. Opting out of such a mission would not be acceptable. Sure, the Hokage might be convinced of dropping her from the mission somehow, but she would never forgive herself living as a coward and doing a disservice to her village. No, there was no choice. She would be returning to Kumogakure at least once more. Perhaps the only real question was who would be leading the mission itself and what protocol they were to follow.

The anbu would turn to Operative Tiger as she offered to joining her to escort Kiranomo out, and simply nod in acknowledgment. She would face Kurisu once more as he discussed his thought on Kumogakure, agreeing on his thoughts on the matter. If she was a black independent strong woman, she would have asked for an Amen. The task that came afterwards was not surprising to Artemis. Actually, she expected him to send them out in order to gather intel on what could become a rather large threat to their village. It was the very reason in which she brought it up in the first place. It would become her first large mission as an anbu, and a task that she would surely see finished for the people of her village. On the question of whether she was ready for said task, well that was a whole other question completely. Cheshire stood and just listened intently, waiting for the answer on Wolf’s question as she slowly gather her thoughts on the matters being discussed. Things were about to get interesting for the trio.

So far so good, it was impossible for Kurisu to try and read the emotions of the ANBU to see how receptive they were to the plan but nevertheless they had accepted it and that was really all that mattered. Now he'd need to speak with Captain Brenner and the Elder Council and explain the situation and get their input on it. 


"I still need to speak with the Elder Council and the ANBU Captain. You three, for now, focus on dealing with the issue of Kiranomo and here soon you'll be informed of the specifics of the Kumo Mission." with that he'd lean back into his chair and, assuming the three ANBU left, he'd take a short nap.

[Exit assuming none of you bring up anything.]

A nod and a bow were all that manners required. So, with a deep bow the operative turned on a dime and made her way out of the administration building. No longer were her thoughts of drinking and forgetting the past. No, as she walked the darkened hallways of the Hokage building her mind danced from Kira to Kumogakure. There was much to be done and little time to do it. Perhaps Wolf's younger self would have made a beeline for the training grounds or even a bar, but the woman she was today did neither of those. Instead she took the long way back to the barracks taking in the sights and sounds of Konohagakure on a warm spring evening. Then it was off to a restless night sleep after apprising Chai of the new developments. She had a long and uncertain road ahead of her. Yet the only way forward was through...

With nothing left to discuss, Queen did a quick bow before leaving through the office door. There was still much that the operative had to do before they headed off to Kumogakure. First things first was dealing with the ticking time bomb that was kiranomo. Then she would prepare herself with the upcoming trip to Kumogakure. The job of an anbu was definitely not an easy one, but if it meant protecting Konoha, It would be all that mattered to Artemis.

Claiming my dignity and a bag of funions

The ANBU had nothing left to speak to the Hokage about. Therefore, she'd exit along with the rest of her fellow operatives, eager to get some stuff done before she decided to go and track down Kiranomo to tell her to get out. She was wary of the female's eyes, though. Her waryness brought about distrust towards the individual. The black-haired Uchiha would exit with the clang of her armor present on her frame.
