It helped that Siegfried knew so much about blacksmithing, and the ways he had learned within his own Black Dragon household were probably the key to most of his really good works. He took what Siegfried said to heart as he continued his work, knowing that as long as he put his heart into it he would do a great job. Envisioning what the blade needed to be, and feeling the metal for what was to be mended, he knew he could do this. As he continued, Siegfried struck up more conversation, those this topic was more of a personal sort for Chrom. The boy knew how he wanted to answer the question, though thinking what had happened to his most recent family..had him at a momentary loss for words. "Well... ever since I was little I have been pretty engrossed in every piece of history that this clan has. I could tell you all about your grandfather, and your grandfathers father. My duty isn't all just to cover history, its the preservation of historical importance to the Pendragon. Even if the clan were to fall, it'd be my family's job to preserve the clans history and whatever fate befell it. Its a lot to have on ones shoulders, and normally my immediate family would help but..."
He was sort of stuck on his words. Even after a few years, what had happened to his Father and the circumstances of his brother made it hard to speak all of a sudden. He couldn't leave Sieg with an empty silence like that, so for now he would have to skip that particular topic.
"Well..I guess we all already kinda know what happened their. Its a pretty tough job, especially when people all come to me for advice. Its my job to advise members based on what I know of history, and in times like these people want to hear all they can. Its a little daunting, the thought of whether or not I actually helped or just made a problem worse. Having time for people who need help, and time for me to work on my training, as well as my other duties, it gets a little stressful I guess. Their isn't a job i'd rather have though. If i can help even one person with the wisdom of the past...then maybe I have done what my dad would have wanted."
He hoped he hadn't rambled to Siegfried too much, though it wasn't quite a question that came with a simple answer. Much like how Siegfried was good at blades, Chrom had to be good with people, and knowing how to help them. He was even expected to advise the Silver Dragon, Arthur, when he needed it, but Siegfried probably already knew that.

He sat in silence and listened to the words of his brother, idle eyes staring at the males form as he continued to work on a single blade and strengthened it with his body. He knew that each member of the family had different jobs and held them to a different standard that one would have in their family, but the chance to actually hear it from his perspective was good as well. As he finally finished the blade he had been working on, his left hand outstretched to pat Chrom on the shoulders," You don't need to carry the silence of your brothers actions on your shoulders. In time he will be dealt with, but for now push it to the corners and focus on the now," giving his brother a small smile he returned his to his blade and gave it the once over before nodding and placing it onto the table once more before continuing," If we can help a single soul with our talents then it has made it all the more worth it to be alive doesn't it?," at that moment his eyes closed as he rested his hands on the blade. A bond now formed between steel and man yet again and he couldn't help but be happy about this. This had been his life and he enjoyed it much like Chrom had enjoyed his.
