So you wanna be a Hero, kid?[Private, IO, NK(?)]
Fri Jul 15, 2016 8:31 pm
He doesn't like this guys body language, his gaze keeps drifting off, he looks too twitchy and there's always some kind of thoughtful look in the back of his eyes, like he's got too many ideas and too much creativity.
Now that's not a bad thing normally, but he can't help but think about how naive this Uzumaki is and what that kind of creativity might cause. He's seen Genin with that same look, coming up with all sorts of theories and ideas for Ninjutsu, luckily they don't have the ability to make all of those things happen, so they pick what would be most useful under the watchful eye of a sensei...
This Man, can make all of them happen, and doesn't have to pick and choose..So he might limit himself instead of focusing on his specialties.
He hates inefficiency, so before anything else happens he's got a few things to make sure of.
"Change of plans Cupcake, the mission's too far off to interest the bigger fish in the Pond and the smallfry won't wanna venture so far away from our Medical Offices." He begins changing course taking the path towards the forest clearings. "What are you good at? Fuinjutsu, your chakra pool tells me..Ninjutsu? What else do you do? And how well?" He asks, tilting his head back to give him a lazy look, his lips curled down into a small bored looking frown, silver colored eyes focused onto his.
Of course an Uzumaki will focus on Fuinjutsu, his chakra is refined so that's further proof of that. His chakra pool is particularly large and is focused around a few key points in his tenketsu, or at least where he knows a few tenketsu to be, so him being a Ninjutsu specialist is also likely.
He can't pick up on any other specialty, perhaps..Genjutsu? Maybe he has a few Puppets hidden away?
That's ingenious actually, a Taijutsu specialist would rush the Ninjutsu user as fast as possible in order to take out the heavy damage, but a quick summoning and a Puppet as a guard and assassin would remove that danger immediately, if his assumptions are correct he'd have to praise this Uzumaki for his ingenuity.
And then stomp into his mind the idea to focus on your strengths instead of trying to cover your weaknesses so much your strengths are simply average, he'll destroy that mentality and replace it with what he needs to know.
After all, what are Partners for?

The two weren’t moving at any real speed, at least not any real speed for trained shinobi. Kiru always made sure to keep an eye around him, a habit at this point brought about by his former teacher's constant paranoia. Mercury probably could see this, but it wasn’t something the blue haired ninja could change about himself so quickly. Though paranoia in this life never seemed like a bad thing, did it? From his understanding they were headed to some kind of mission, though Kiru wasn’t exactly dressed in his usual battle attire. That said, he had never quite built a good set of it. His coat had been enough for him with the seals embedded within it, so he never really considered an upgrade, though if he was going to be undergoing more intense training, now would definitely be the time.
Suddenly Mercury announced a change of plans in a rather..odd way. Kiru wasn’t positive on what the SIlver Haired Mercenary meant exactly, but apparently they were switching directions to reach a different location. As the topic changed to his proficiencies Kiru considered for a moment. “I put a lot of study into Fuin, in both application to weapons and armor as well as in technique. I think I am an average ninjutsu user, I have mainly wind style techniques and a few water style...though I seem to be more naturally proficient with the former. Lastly, I had started studying techniques using Space/Time, though I haven’t had much success. The only technique I have mastered is the “Immaterial Sword” Jutsu.”
As he spoke he considered his other more..unnatural specialties. The abilities of the Nara clan taught to him by Kira and the power of Sage Transformation acquired from his meeting with the Juugo clan member. It would sort of make him seem like a Bloodline hunter which was not something he wanted tacked onto his name, but it would also come back to bite him if he kept them hidden. “I also have some more..err..interesting abilities. My former teacher I mentioned was..or at least said she was, a Nara clan member and taught me some techniques she probably shouldn’t have.”
He didn’t look guilty at this so much as embarrassed he had taken another clans secrets. At the time, Kira had made it seem like such a good deal, though using them around another Nara would probably end badly. “The second is from a rare clan, called the Juugo, from a member I met in Konoha. He... was a bit odd and at the time I was attempting to learn the power of Sage Mode. Juugo have an interesting ability to harness nature energy and for whatever reason decided to share that power with me. I admit..I probably shouldn’t have accepted, but I didn’t see myself hurting anyone. With it I can harness nature energy for some very dangerous effects when combined with ninjutsu, however I haven't quite refined anything yet.”
This one he had a more guilty look about his face. He had given in to a weakness for knowledge and power that he knew was wrong, but had borrowed anyway. Pushing that thought away, he awaited Mercury’s response...and likely judgement on his abilities.

Mercury steps off to the side, his hands sliding away from his pockets only so his arms can cross over his chest, his attention fully on the Uzumaki as he begins explaining his skills. He actually nods in approval when he talks about his skills in fuinjutsu, although he arches a brow when he speaks of his skills in Space-time Ninjutsu...And that he used it on a sword technique..Which has him pursing his lips in disapproval.
He's clearly no swordsman, if anything he's a bit too lanky to be trusted in close quarters combat at all, it's best for him to stay away from the enemy and bombard them from afar, or use that fuinjutsu skill for something more useful than just armor.
Mercury mulls these thoughts over for a moment before Kiru begins again, catching his attention again...And immediately his expression turns cautious, then it turns dark...Then it just turns aggravated before he shakes his head, a scowl forming over his sharp features, oh hey, there's that Uchiha blood.
"Right, so if anyone asks you're a Summoner who knows the Sage arts, you will not be using the Transformation or Shadow Ninjutsu where we're leaving witnesses alive and there will be No. Bloodline theft on my watch, do you understand?"
He immediately tells him, this Teacher is becoming too good of an excuse for this guy, if he see's anything too suspicious he'll cut and run with the loot and if he tries to add some Akari techniques to his little collection? He'll snap his neck before he can say 'I didn't know I was this outclassed.'
He shakes his head and runs a palm over forehead, his fingers brushing his hair away from his eyes before he raises a finger. "First thing, we'll wanna up your repertoire for Area of Effect and Long range Ninjutsu, see if we can't boost your skill with Fuinjutsu to include a few surprises..And..." He gives him another displeased look at this. "You're clearly no swordsman, that technique is worthless to someone like you, it would take too long to burn the muscle memory of a sword-style into you, I'd suggest supplementing yourself that will play to your strengths. You have incredibly refined chakra and a large pool to work with, you'll excel in the long range arts." He seems thoughtful at that, his eyes raising thoughtfully before they narrow and flick back down to the Uzumaki. "Have you ever considered Puppetry? It will provide you a distinct advantage when using your Ninjutsu and...Perhaps another way to use Fuinjutsu." He's got an little idea for a simplified Puppet that could be used to transmit Fuinjutsu, he'll palm it off on him if he seems interested in the idea.

Kiru hadn’t expected Mercury to take that particularly well, but it went a lot better then it could have. The boy knew having bloodlines or abilities that didn’t necessarily belong to you was very taboo in the ninja world, well in most places it was. In others it would be a badge of honour he supposed. “Yes, I fully understand. No accepting or taking bloodlines that don’t belong to me. Got it.”
All in all, he had sort of expected to be struck which..he may have deserved so this conversation was going extraordinarily well for how it could have gone. He wasn’t too happy with his extra abilities anyhow but there was nothing to be done about it at this very moment, and as Mercury pointed out, he could just claim some use in the art of Nature energy and not use the transformation ability. So far having scales had yet to help him in any helpful way, so this idea didn't bother him much at all. If anything, perhaps he could come up with a way to internalize any changes that could be useful to him so as to not give away his unique power.
The words striking down Kiru’s ability as a swordsman stung quite a bit, but he couldn’t help but feel they were likely true. Every hit he had made in combat had been at range, or with a strategic use of ninjutsu. His sword had made a very convenient tool for throwing however, but the blue haired shinobi doubted that was a point worth arguing. He was pleased that he apparently had SOME redeeming qualities, and with that in mind he had a few long range ninjutsu he had been working on so this was an excellent occasion to perfect them. At the mention of puppetry, Kiru stopped his simple nodding and general focused attention to take a moment of consideration. “Puppetry? I lost an exam once because of some puppets..”
He sort of involuntarily scratched at his neck where some blades had been pointed so long ago..
“I haven’t really considered them, no. Truth be told I only ever met one person who used them, though he seemed rather successful. I could definitely see the merit in using them I suppose.”
He said this in a manner that showed his intriguement, though seemed like he really had any other options. Medical Ninjutsu was far beyond him, and Genjutsu was something that Maku had used in a way that made Kiru pretty uneasy about even trying to learn it. Space and Time techniques had seemed to be the answer but he just didn’t have the aptitude for it that he needed. Though, he wondered, if perhaps that was the sort of skill you spent a lifetime perfecting. If that was the case, he simply didn’t have time for it. If he was going to be effective at all, he needed skills he could master in a short amount of time and be able to use with great ability.

The idea is an enticing one, a puppetry and Ninjutsu user with such a large chakra pool laying down fuinjutsu from a distance while he performs his tasks and strikes out when the situation either calls for it or the moment is perfect. Yes, he's got a hunch that such a thing would be perfect for the Uzumaki...But he has no experience whatsoever with performing the art of Puppetry, though he does know someone who does, who also owes this Mercenary a favor.
His eyes narrow slightly as his lips curl downward, contemplating this whilst his forefingers lightly cup his own chin. Silver eyes gleaming as they transition through the pros and cons of giving away the debt for the sake of his Partner/Employer, the stone...The stone intrigues him for some reason, and something tells him it'd be a mistake to hand it over..
So going with his gut, his expression turns neutral and he fixes the Uzumaki with a gaze.
"The Art of Puppetry is something that requires great diligence, perfect chakra control and the ability to multi-task at a level most human beings aren't capable of. Luckily for you I've got a Teacher for you who owes me a favor." He declares, before he reaches into his back pocket, yanking out a note-pad and a simple pen, which he uses to jot down an address.
"Go here, tell him Mercury sent you here for training, and that 'A Man needs a maid, train him and we're square' Understood? Make sure to say it word for word, or he might just kill you." Mercury warns Kiru calmly, handing over the address and turning on his heel to walk off.
"Train with him until he stops glaring at you, when he starts nodding at you once a day, come find me, I've got my own training to keep up with." He declares, but giving Kiru a wave over his shoulder, Mercury is sure the idea of a Powerful Instructor will get the man excited, so he'll go off to do his own research on the Stone, and plan out his next job, there's no way the Uzumaki will be done with his training anytime soon, so he'll take care of his own business...Like the scroll he's acquired recently and getting enough money to have his weapons repaired.
He's got a lot of work to do, and not a whole lot of time to do it in.
