The Hour of the Wolf [P, W/Ken]
Tue Nov 08, 2016 6:03 pm
- Layout of Geni’s Home:
Near the Church of the High Lady, within a few blocks of it, were several houses of nice architecture and simplistic living; houses provided to family members and those trying to rehabilitate themselves with normal living. Similar to halfway houses in the respect that a program through the Church offered Church Members a chance to get back on their feet in order to get their own homes and families together. Since most of the Members had already gone through this program or already had their ‘situations’ settled, it meant that the church had several vacant houses- and the smallest one was currently occupied by Genevieve Oasis, a Priestess of the Church.
The front yard of the house was surrounded by a gate- something more for aesthetic appear in it’s welcoming white color, rather than security- and pushed up behind the gate were smooth, rounded piled up rocks that allowed enough space for someone to enter but followed the path of the gate to make an enclosed and loosely circle-shaped garden. Among the flowerbeds, held in by these rocks and the cement between them, grew vivid flowers of all kinds and colors that had been planted and tended to by the current occupant. A small, circular patio table sat under the front window of the house and two white, matching chairs patiently awaited occupancy; garnished with fluffy cushions for support, and the one closest towards the garden was angled diagonally to let the sitter see who came in and out of both the front gate and the house.
However, this slumbering garden was much more lively when the occupant was awake; and it wasn’t 4 am, when the whole house was asleep. Including the current resident who slept in her bed peacefully and sound asleep after a long day’s mission and the promise of training with a fellow Hoshi-Shinobi, Kenshin Uzumaki, the next day.

With a light sheen of sweat on his extremely pale skin Kenshin made his way through the moonlit streets of Hoshigakure, it was currently around 4am and he was on his way to go get Genevieve so that he could start her training. As per usual he had woken himself up at 2am and after taking care of all of his morning duties he had set out for one of the various training grounds of Hoshi to begin his training, but this morning was a little different, after his last mission with Genevieve he had accepted her request to teach her some things. Now he understood that not everyone liked to wake up at 2am as he did, so he had decided to do some solo training for awhile in order to allow her to get a couple more hours worth of sleep, and by the time that a couple of hours had passed he decided that it was indeed time to go and collect her so that they could begin her training.
Unfortunately though in his haste to get home to rid himself of the awful smell that clung to both he and his clothes he had forgotten one extremely important detail, he had absolutely no idea where Genevieve actually lived and he had not arranged for the two of them to meet up anywhere. This is what lead to his current predicament, he had been wandering through the streets for close to 20 minutes now in the hopes of detecting her chakra signature, but so far he had no such luck, he had briefly considered opening his mind's eye to widen his sensory range by a rather significant margin in the hopes of finding her faster, but in the end he decided against using it for such a trivial matter, he would find her eventually. As the silver haired teen continued his rather brisk walk down the moonlit streets he noticed that he was starting to enter one of the more religious areas of the city, he was almost certain that somewhere around here was the church of one of the more prominent religions in Hoshi, although he did not have even the slightest clue which religion that was.
A small chuckle would sneak its way through his lips as he finally felt the chakra signature that he had been searching for, Genevieve’s chakra signature had only just been within the range of his chakra sensory but that was all that he needed, the second he had felt it he was able to tell exactly where she was. With a small smirk on his face he would continue on down the street and towards the house that he was able to feel Genevieve’s chakra signature emanating from, it would not take him very long to actually reach the house, and when he came close enough he began to examine it. The very first thing that he noticed about the house was that it was surrounded by a small white picket fence, it was glaringly obvious to him that such a fence had not been designed with any form of security in mind ‘Why build a fence if not for security, this serves no purpose’ he would think to himself with a small frown on his face, truly unable to understand why such a useless fence even existed in the first place.
As he continued to get closer to the house he became aware of the small beds of flowers just beyond the useless fence, unfortunately he was nowhere near close enough to try and identify just what types of plants that she was growing, although he did find himself hoping that she was growing some aconitum or oleander, as he was starting to run low on both. Eventually he got close enough to the house to see that unfortunately she was not growing any form of plant that he may have uses for, in fact as far as he could tell the flowers that she was growing possessed no uses whatsoever, getting him to wonder why she was growing them in the first place if that was indeed the case. As he reached the fence he took note of the small circular table that sat right beneath the window at the front, sitting next to the table were two matching white chairs that were adorned with small yet comfortable looking cushions, giving Genevieve a small area to sit outside with a guest in comfort.
Kenshin would open the small white gate and walk through it, closing it behind him as he made his way towards Genevieve’s front door, which he noticed came with a window embedded in it, he was not sure why such a door existed as it allowed people on the outside to peer into the house with no trouble, it obvious also allowed whoever was inside the house to see out, but in his opinion a small peephole would be better than a window in the door. He would look through the window in the door out of simple curiosity and immediately see that right through the entrance of the house is a kitchen, but other than that he was not really able to see much as it was still dark out. The scar faced teen would raise his right hand and give five rather loud and clear knocks, and as he did so he would wonder to himself whether or not Genevieve was actually awake to hear them

The night had been quiet, a comfortable and thick silence cut only by the five heavy knocks; something overpowered by the too-perfectly-timed knocking of the washer as it cleaned a load of laundry dutifully while it’s mistress slept. The day prior had been a long and hard one for her but that hadn’t stopped her from completing the chores and setting the timer on the washer and dryer. The chime always had a penchant for waking her up so that she could sleepily stumble out of her room to change the load from the washer ot the dryer, turn it on, and make her way back to bed for a bit more restful sleep. As the washer settled down in it’s moody knocking, it refused ot chime just yet and wake her up just yet.
For as it worked, she smiled in her sleep and gently snuggled into her sheets a bit more, unabashed at her nightgown as she pulled a fluffy, white goose down pillow into her arms and smiled dreamily. Her dream much more sweeter and her own dream persona much more confident and assertive that Geni was in real life, and it made her smile to think that one day (perhaps soon) she would be so confident and bold.
However, her dreams slowly twisted and gnarled into a nightmare she abruptly woke herself up from as another series of knocks was overpowered once more by the washing machine; but She paid no mind. Instead, she sleepily pulled herself from her bed and the comfortable sheets to put her feet on the cold hardwood floor and walk over to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her for some privacy; something more akin to a force of habit rather than a necessity in a house where she was the sole resident. Not even a pet fish to share the title with.

Kenshin would give a small sigh as he the chakra signature of Genevieve stayed in the exact same position after he knocked on the door, he had hoped that she was awake but obviously that was not the case and she was still deeply immersed in the land of dreams. He found himself half tempted to simply walk back to the training grounds alone and continue his solo training for a little while longer, but in the end he chose not to do so, she had asked him to teach her a jutsu and he was going to oblige with her request, although he suspected that he would be teaching her more than just a single jutsu, even if that had been all she asked to learn.
He raised his hand once more and once again gave five clear knocks, although this time he put a little more force into the knocks so that they would end up louder, and hopefully resonate throughout the house loud enough to wake up its currently sleeping occupant. As he felt her chakra signature begin to move a small smirk would make it’s way onto the silver haired teens face, as he believed that the reason she woke up was because she heard his knocking and was coming to answer the door.
The smirk would fall from his face when he realised that was not the case, as he had felt her chakra signature moving throughout the house, only to come to a stop in what he assumed was another room of the house. He wondered why she was not hearing his knocks, perhaps there was something in the house that was making enough noise to drown out the rather loud raps on the wooden door, and if that was indeed the case then he would need to find some other way to get her to come to the door.
He found himself wondering how she had not sensed his chakra signature yet, he knew that due to the amount of chakra that he possessed he was basically a walking beacon to anyone who could sense chakra, and he knew from the mission that they had done together that she could sense chakra. ‘She most likely just woke up, and she has yet to actually register feeling my chakra signature’ he surmised to himself, giving a small nod as he did so, yes, that must be the reason, it couldn’t be that she had forgotten those with chakra sensory could sense people with over 50 chakra automatically without needing to focus, no, it couldn’t be that at all.
And with that line of thought came an idea of how he could get her attention, he could flare up his chakra and use it to catch her attention, no doubt as soon as she was able to feel his chakra signature waiting at her door she would hurry down to meet him and they could finally begin the training. He would waste no time in flaring his chakra up to it’s full extent, something that was sure to attract the attention of anyone who was able to sense chakra in the area, but based on the fact that the only sizable chakra signature in the area belonged to Genevieve, he highly doubted that anyone in the vicinity even knew how to mould chakra, much less actually sense it.
With the signal sent Kenshin would take a step back away from the door, he could still see through the window perfectly and as such Genevieve would still be able to see him, but now she would be able to open the door without hitting him in the process.

Genevieve washed her hands after using the bathroom, grabbing her hair brush and brushing out her hair in layers as something prominently stood on the edge of her senses; recognizing it immediately as Kenshin as the thick fog of sleep evaporated and left only a panic for being both rude and late, to the guest.
She hastily brushed her hair a little faster, brushed her teeth and washed out her mouth, before looking down to remind herself she still wore only a pale, silvery-blue nightgown; something so frilly and revealing not meant for training but really, none of her other clothes were. However, that didn’t matter as she quickly discarded her clothes and went into the closet, grabbing the running clothes she had just bought. Her bra and shirt went on fine as did her socks, however she struggled with getting her pants on- just as Kenshin’s chakra flared and gave her another painstaking reminder of what a sour hostess she was being, as she hopped about trying to pull her pants higher than where they were stuck under the curve of her bum. She had bought them maybe a week ago and she had followed the care instructions diligently- so- what the heck? Finally, she managed to get them on and went down the stairs to the first floor where KEnshin stood in the doorway and she gave an apologetic smile as she went over, turned on the lights, and unlocked the door to greet him, “G-Good morning, Kenshin, I’m sorry for making you wait.”
She moved aside and let the door hand open a bit as she walked into the kitchen, “You can come in if you want; I just need to drink my water for the day and grab something to eat, then I’ll be all set.” Even if she was curious as to how long he had been waiting on her doorstep, she was too embarrassed about leaving him there to ask. From the look of him, Kenshin seemed to be ready and waiting on the sole occupant of her home to continue on with his day even if the sun hadn’t rising, giving way to the thought of when did he actually train… and what time it actually was but since she had taken the clocks out to replace the batteries and had failed to even do that, she had no sense of time at the moment. She sorely hoped that perhaps Kenshin did as she pulled out her ‘morning water bottle’- something that looked like it held 2 or 3 gallons- and drank it all in one go before placing it in the sink and grabbing a smaller half-gallon water bottle. “Do you want a banana, Kenshin?” She asked as she shut the fridge and grabbed a banana from a fresh bustle off the counter she had gotten the day before, and looked at him as she waited for any answer or reaction.

Kenshin would wait patiently for Genevieve to come down stairs and greet him, he had only flared his chakra a few moments ago but he was quite certain that she had indeed felt it, he personally thought that she showed some promise in the mission that the two of them had undertaken down in the sewers. ‘If she has not felt such a blatant announcement of my presence here then perhaps I was wrong about her’ the silver haired teen would think to himself as he continued waiting at the door, a frown appearing on his face as his rather limited patience quickly began to wear thin, there were very few things in the world that he completely and utterly hated but having his time wasted was one of those few things. One of the things that was helping him keep his cool was the fact that he was able to feel Genevieve’s chakra signature moving around the upper level of the house in a rather frantic manner, something that he was attributing to her trying to hurry herself up as she got ready so that she could come down and the two of them could finally begin their training.
His frown would fade away, leaving him with a completely neutral expression, as he finally felt her chakra signature heading down the stairs, from his position he was still unable to see her just yet, but as she finally reached the bottom of the stairs and began heading towards the door that he was waiting at she came into his line of sight. She was wearing a pair of tight black yoga pants that reached down to her knees and a black tank top, he also noted the fact that she was wearing socks and had yet to actually put any type of footwear, but based on the pair of enclosed sandals near her door he assumed that she, like many others, preferred not to wear shoes indoors. All in all he was able to see that the clothes she was wearing were appropriate for the training that the two of them were about to undertake, to be perfectly honest he had not been too sure if she would have been wearing clothing appropriate for training after he had seen her wear a white dress for their mission into the sewers, but he was pleasantly surprised that she had worn clothing like this.
As he saw her flash him a small apologetic smile as she unlocked her front door and switched on the lights, the lights quickly illuminated the area that Kenshin had been standing in and helped reveal his form to her, as before he had been standing in the darkness and as such she could not have gotten a good look at him. He was clad in the exact same clothes that he had worn when he and Genevieve had been assigned to capture the wannabe infiltrators, a pair of pitch black pants along with a black belt that his two weapon pouches were attached to, a sleeveless black vest and a pair of worn grey shinobi style sandals, and thankfully after the clothes had been giving a very thorough washing the sewer smell that had invaded the fabric had been removed. Once again he had decided to forgo wearing his long black robes and his top hat, something that he noticed he had been doing quite a bit in recent times, not that he minded really, in fact he actually found it to be a rather liberating experience due to how often he had found himself wearing the robes.
The reason behind him feeling a sense of liberation from something as simple as not wearing his robes or top hat was rather simple, in fact it tied into the very reason that he had acquired the two articles of clothing in the first place, as he had definitely not started wearing the robes or top hat due to him liking them, no, he had first started wearing them in order to hide his true features. He had first obtained the robes to both prevent people from seeing his heavily stitched and scarred skin, and to masquerade as a wandering monk in order to covertly gather information on Hoshigakure before he joined, and the top hat helped complete the disguise since it allowed him to style his hair in such a way that his eyes were completely hidden behind the silver locks. After he had actually joined the village he only continued to wear the disguise in order to prevent the civilian populous of the village from seeing his more unique and unnerving features, and along with the false image he projected he had found himself unconsciously creating a false persona to go along with it.
Unfortunately though as time continued to pass by he found that the lines between his true self and the false persona to be blurring, and only a short time ago did he come to the rather shocking and worrying realisation that he had completely lost sight of where the false persona ended and his true personality began. The very thought that he could be suffering from an identity crisis was something that truly terrified Kenshin more than he could ever even begin to explain, as up until this point he had always felt extremely confident about who he truly was, and yet the fact that he was having feelings like this now made him wonder if he had ever truly understood himself as well as he though he did. This line of thought had raised a great many questions in his mind about both his past actions and the actions that he would be taking in the future, but he knew that until he managed to get through this identity crisis there was no way that he would be able to answer even a single one of those questions.
Even if he did manage to successfully come up with an answer for even one of the questions that were constantly raging in his mind he knew that there was no possible way that he could trust in it to be the correct answer, as there is always the very real possibility that he could be deluding himself into believing an incorrect answer. The silver haired teen would quickly banish such thoughts however, there really was no use in dwelling on these problems right at this moment, as even with his knowledge of Medical Ninjutsu he knew that there was nothing he could do in order to ‘fix’ himself, the human mind was an extremely complex and fragile thing, and yet it also possessed a remarkable level of resilience, he would sort through this identity crisis eventually, he just did not know when.
“G-Good morning, Kenshin, I’m sorry for making you wait” the scar faced teen would hear Genevieve say as she opened the door and held it open for him “You can come in if you want; I just need to drink my water for the day and grab something to eat, then I’ll be all set” she would then say as she moved towards the fridge in order to finish her preparations for their training. “A good morning to you as well Genevieve, and please think nothing of it, I understand that not everybody wakes up as early as I do, if anything I should be apologising to you for waking you up at such an early hour” the silver haired teen would say in a polite tone of voice. “I must admit finding you proved to be rather difficult, in my rush to get home and shower yesterday I managed to forget to set up a meeting between the two of us today so that we could train, thankfully we spent enough time together for me to memorise your chakra signature” Kenshin would say, giving a small chuckle as he spoke, as he did indeed find the situation to be amusing.
The stitched albino would give the tiniest of smirks as he saw Genevieve down an absolutely massive amount of water, had he not known that she was a Hozuki he may have believed that she would end up throwing up the water as the training got intense, but since he did in fact know that she was a Hozuki he knew that she was drinking the water to make up for what she could not drink in the night. He knew that Hozuki’s had to keep themselves hydrated at all times in order to use their clan techniques, so it only made sense that they would have to drink a massive amount of water after they woke up in order to re-hydrate themselves after sleeping for so long, and thus going for quite awhile without any water. Out of the corner of his eye he would see her place the now empty bottle on the sink and grabbed a smaller bottle from her fridge “Would you like a banana Kenshin?” Genevieve would ask him as she grabbed one of her own from the fresh looking bunch on her counter.
“Thank you, a banana does sound rather appetising right now” Kenshin would say with a small yet noticeable smile on his face, banana’s were extremely healthy and provided a great deal of essential vitamins and minerals, and for someone as who knew as much about the body as he did they were a treat that simply could not be turned down.

Genevieve was quietly relieved that Kenshin didn’t seemed too bothered by her rudeness for leaving him outside; which was not her fault, but in all honesty it was her fault. If she had known better, she would have gone to sleep earlier and then been on time. Thus, Kenshin wouldn’t have been left to stand on her doorstep like some type of lurker and rather welcomed into her home like a guest. Still, these were things she tried not to think about as she grabbed a banana for him as well, handing it towards him and waited until he took it, before she continued to walk across the pristine wood floors and to the front door; water bottle and banana in hand. Her shoes patiently waiting right where she had left them; an action she routinely did to maintain the integrity of the floors of her temporary home and keep them clean. Meaning, it meant less cleaning for her to do when she got home and on her days off which was more helpful to her than anyone could probably know. However, she wasn’t going to reveal that any time soon as she dipped down to pick up her shoes, taking up residence in one of the little chairs to pull them on, setting her banana on the little table. Which was probably not the best of ideas however Geni wasn’t going to eat the banana peel anytime soon so it was fine.
The twilight hour behind Midnight and be for the early morning only brought crisp and fresh air to the residents of Hoshi at this hour. A chilly breeze moving through the trees and through the bushes and leaves in Geni’s garden, reminding her that autumn was still upon them. But even with the street lights on, there was still the dark plum and black night sky; a canvas that was dusted with glittering diamond powder which were the stars, giving the illusion of closeness when they were nowhere near them. She had never had a chance to really look at the sky a good while as she rose to her feet and picked up her water bottle and banana. It was beautiful; what would it look like if she could have it in her hands? She looked over and glanced at Kenshin as he exited her home and moved aside for her to lock the door, before they continued towards the training grounds, catching a quick glance of Kenshin now that he was much closer than any other time she had caught a glance of him.
His skin was extremely pale, something similar to just snow or light grey clouds; but she thought it was fair and actually quite a dashing combination with his hair. Geni didn’t care much for his skin which seemed ot be peppered and speckled with various scars besides the long, straight wounds which made him seemed like some stitched together doll- but that’s just how he was. Just like how Geni had her odd hair, Kenshin had his scars and markings; They didn’t define him. Kenshin was these things. He was the lord of his weaknesses and the conqueror of his fears; perhaps, if she spent more time with him, his courage would rub off on her but perhaps not. Still-
How his grey hair caught the light of the street lamps and shimmered golden and silver was something she always liked and marvelled at. It was something similar to how lightning flickered among clouds, or when the sun flickered through them to no avail. There was something primal and rawly predatory behind his smile and his eyes, Geni noticed; but it was intriguing, just like he was and she quietly smiled to herself as they walked and he made light conversation. Doing her job to give little affirmative smiles and look him in the eyes when he talked, so he knew he had her attention. Speaking of attention, another thing came to mind besides his piercing red and silver eyes, “So when do you normally wake up and train Kenshin?” She asked as she held back a shiver. Because, goddess-forbid, she bother to bring one of her poorly made scarves to keep her warm. If Keshin continued to wake up at this time too, it would probably be a good idea to give him one as well- but what colors would she pick? Should she pick something shimmering or something just a solid color? High quality yarn or not? Small and tightly wound yarn or something with more volume to keep him warm? “Don’t you get cold, working out in a shirt with no sleeves, this early in the morning?” She inquired curiously as she pushed away the scandalousness of a sleeveless shirt. Absolutely scandalous- but goddess bless him for having the audacity and boldness to pull it off.

Kenshin would accept the banana Genevieve offered him with a small smile on his face, due to the fact that he had been training for two hours before coming to grab Genevieve he was feeling a little peckish, and his reason for eating the banana was not purely because he knew how good they were for him, he also quite enjoyed the taste. As he saw Genevieve move to grab the shoes that were kept next to the door the silver haired teen would begin to peel open his banana, the sweet and unique smell of the ripe yellow fruit filling his nose as he peeled off the skin to reveal the fruit inside. He would peel the banana in three strips, two of regular size and one slightly bigger than the other, but he would only peel to just below halfway down the length of the banana, as he wanted there to be skin on the bottom for him to hold onto as he ate the fruit itself. This entire process only took him a matter of seconds to do, as it is much easier to do in practice than it is to give a detailed explanation of how to peel a banana in an RP setting, but it’s extra words so why not.
He would walk outside and take the first bite of his banana right as Genevieve put her shoes on, and right as he exited the threshold of humble abode a chilly breeze blew right through the garden, the leaves of the tree’s and the petals of the flowers danced to the unheard tune of the wind and thee cold air nipped lightly against Kenshin’s skin. He would hear the door close and lock behind him as soon as he had exited the premise, and without waiting any longer he would begin to lead Genevieve towards the training field that the two of them would be using, it was one of the more remote ones and was actually one of his personal favourites, as the likelihood of the two of them being interrupted or seen here was much lower than at the other training fields. Due to his experiences back in his days as a rogue ninja Kenshin absolutely hated the idea that people could see him training, because that meant that should he ever happen to fight that person they would know what to expect, sure it was an unnecessary fear since he was now a Hoshigakure Shinobi but it was something that had become ingrained in his mind over the years.
All throughout the trip to the training field he had been making small talk with Genevieve, not because he had actually wanted to talk but because he knew that most people generally preferred it when silence was filled with speech, something that he personally did not understand because he actually enjoyed the silence, to him it was soothing. As he spoke he noticed that Genevieve was looking him directly in the eyes, something that told him that she was either listening intently to him, or studying his unique looking eyes, if it was the former and she was actually paying attention to what he was saying Kenshin would find that a little strange, as even he was not really paying attention to what he was saying, he knew he had commented on the weather at one point but that’s all. If she was studying his eyes though he would be a little intrigued, often times people found it hard to maintain eye contact with him due to the permanent subconjunctival hemorrhage within his eye, but she did not appear to be bothered by it in the slightest. Either way Kenshin was not going to ask why she was looking him in the eye, as it was not really important, but still, the mysterious entity known as Genevieve Oasis continued to intrigue him, as no matter the reason for her looking him in the eye she still ended up doing so and did not appear to care about their unique looks.
It was at this point however that Kenshin would hear Genevieve speak, perhaps for the first time since they had left her house, and as she spoke he would take another bite of his banana “So when do you normally wake up and train Kenshin?” he would hear her ask, and as he looked over at her he resisted the urge to smirk in amusement. Why, because her skin was covered in goosebumps, something that meant that she was either feeling afraid, nervous or the most likely option, cold “Don’t you get cold, working out in a shirt without sleeves, this early in the morning?” she would then ask, confirming his suspicion that she was indeed feeling quite cold right now. “Well to answer your first question I generally wake up at 2am and start training at around 2:30am, after I have taken care of all my morning necessities and had some breakfast. I followed the same schedule this morning, and got around an hour and a half of solo training in before I came to collect you.” Kenshin would explain, giving Genevieve the knowledge needed to deduce the time on her own.
“And in regards to your second question yes I do get a little cold training this early in the morning while wearing a shirt without sleeves, but to be honest the cold does not bother me at all, in fact there is very little that truly manages to bother me at this point. You see I do not feel things in the same way that most people do, due to certain situations that I have been through in the past my body has become, hmm, I suppose the right word for it would be...desensitised, yes, that works nicely” Kenshin would explain to Genevieve, muttering the last few words to himself, but still loud enough for her to hear if she was listening carefully. “Many things that once caused my body to feel uncomfortable such as high levels of heat, extremely low temperatures and feelings of pain now affect me very little, make no mistake I can still feel the sensations perfectly and they still affect my body in the same way that they do everyone else, the only difference is my tolerance to these feelings are far higher than the average humans.” He would explain to her, with each and every word of what he just said being true, due to all of the experiments that had been conducted on him in the past at the hands of Mayuri and Szayel his body's tolerance to things such as pain and discomfort had been heightened to insane levels.
“My pain tolerance is so high that I have been inside a burning building and came out with second degree burns due to just how close I was too the flames, and yet at the time I was actually in the building, with the flames licking at my arms, all I felt was a sensation more akin to discomfort rather than true pain” the scar faced teen would explain, trying to ensure that she understood that his extremely high pain threshold was not always a good thing. It was only at this point that Kenshin would give a small smirk and turn his head slightly to face Genevieve “I find it amusing that you would ask such a question though, considering that you are also sleeveless right now, and I doubt you have the same level of resilience as I do” he would say in an obviously amused tone, taking a third bite from his banana as he finished talking.

Every crystal clear syllable. Every little sound. Every letter and every word. Like crumbled brown sugar on oatmeal, she heard every grain of the words that rolled off his tongue when he spoke. Even as her mind fluttered about, hung up on the fact that he was actually talking to her, she tried to be as calm about it as possible as he spoke of his high tolerance for heat and cold and mentioned her own sleeveless top. The fact that he also woke up so early to devote so much of his time to training and focusing on honing his abilities was very admirable to Geni as well. His absent accounting of his high tolerance for heat and cold was interesting to her as well; even if his story of being in a burning building make her a bit worried- then came his own questioned and she looked away as she tried to think of how to answer. How was she supposed to answer such a question?
“The shirt is my own mistake.” Geni said simply and looked at it, “Dresses are the Priestess’s wardrobe, however, they are not a Shinobi’s… So when I was told to assimilate to the ‘Shinobi Lifestyle’, I was not given any clothes…” She admitted honestly, and looked ahead as they walked so she wouldn’t trip over anything, “I make money from missions, however, I have no idea how to shop for clothes at all. This is the only outfit I own and I’ve had it for perhaps, a day.” She explained as she held back her body’s instinctual urge to shiver from the cold. “I have no help either; I do not have friends within the church, and my teammates are distant and busy. The sales clerk helped me with this outfit, however… I do not think his intentions were entirely professional; thus I left without really thinking about what I was buying.” She smiled at Kenshin, “I suppose I will have to try and get something with longer sleeves?”
And perhaps a few friends as well, to help her shop instead of her last-minute-before-they-close escapade she had done to get this outfit. Still… at least he had noticed the new outfit which made her feel happy and nervous at the same time. As they made their way to a secluded area and she continued to follow, taking quiet note of the changing scenery. It was quiet and even though it was nothing but sand- there was a wonderful view of the sky and it was without people. It was… strangely nice. The fat that she wouldn’t have to worry about people staring at her or commenting on her hair or her looks. Just, her and Kenshin. “I look forward to training with you, Kenshin, however I’m not experienced, but I will try my best.”
