Learning the Basics of Genin
Wed Nov 09, 2016 5:08 pm
He was a Genin, the celebration dinner he and his family had conducted the previous night brought a smile to his face. His father had been proud of him, continually praising him throughout the night as they’d gone to a restaurant nicer than any he had been to before. His mother had said how proud she was of him representing not only the Kobayashi but also the Setsujinn. And the best part of all, his older brothers had been jealous of his abilities. He could still recall every little detail of his graduation exam and it brought a smug feeling into his chest. But that was in the past, while he waited to be assigned to a team he needed to continue training to improve. That was why for the first time ever, Senshi was standing in an actual training ground.
His instructor at the academy had told him of a Taijutsu technique known as the 1000 years of death that while not exactly powerful was extremely humiliating. Senshi knew that with his Discipline move this would be a useful technique to at least fall back on eventually. Though he intended to specialize into weapons for now he knew he needed backups in the event that he couldn’t use a weapon. With that in mind the stood before a training log continually lunging forwards. His hands formed almost a ram seal in front of him as he thrust them forwards, his legs spread to maintain his balance as he shoved his hands forwards faster and stronger than he could usually move.
It hurt his fingers quite a bit to be jamming them into the training log but he could see where he was making a slight indention into it, showing just how strong the technique was. He would definitely be using it in any spar he eventually got into. Though maybe he would aim for something other than the butt hole, that idea greatly bothered him. It just seemed so wrong to try and jam your fingers into someones butt, even if they deserved humiliation that was a bit much. Pushing his squeamishness aside Senshi continued to lunge forwards smashing his fingers into the log repeatedly. It hurt a lot as he continued to perform the move huffing in exertion. This was a more difficult technique to perform than the Discipline technique was, probably because it required that he enhance his muscles with more chakra than he was used to.
Taking a moment to rest and catch his breath Senshi immediately set back into attacking the training log over and over again. He could feel the chakra flowing through his muscles as he continually lunged at the log. He was proud to see that his fingers were creating a much larger indention and he focused on aiming the technique into different spots as he continued to practice the technique. He needed to be able to hit where he wanted, not just rely on blind luck for his attack to land. Keeping this in mind Senshi focused on drilling his fingers into different spots every time. After another fifteen minutes of practice he stepped back smiling as he wiped the sweat off his brow. While not being a difficult technique to learn it had certainly taxed him a bit.
Now it was time to practice the skill Silent step. It would allow him to increase his stealth by walking around without making any noise. Lifting his left he placed it down carefully, moving slowly as he adjusted himself to the new way of walking. Each step took more than thirty seconds for him to take because he made sure to move slow and deliberately. After seven steps he could hear the grass crinkle beneath his feet which brought a frown to his face. He had felt like maybe this would be easy, that showed that he was wrong. He would need to be able to walk from one end of the training field and back before he could focus on speeding himself up. With this thought in mind Senshi moved back to the training log and began to restart. This time Senshi made it a full fifteen steps before he had to run back to the restart.
He kept trying, making slow and steady progress as he moved across the training field. Each time he failed and made a noise he would turn and run back to the starting point he had made and restart. Despite the early hour Senshi could feel the sun on himself. He had started out as being cold from the winter chill that infested Kumogakure at this time of the year but with his continued practice and the cloak he was wearing he could feel himself beginning to really heat up. Ignoring it, mainly because he needed to be able to move silently in both his cloak and without he continued to practice. Over an hour and a half later he had finally managed to move from one end of the training field to the other without making a noise. Collapsing onto the ground Senshi took several deep breaths, he couldn’t believe how tiring that had.
After a brief respite Senshi stood back up to continue practicing the technique. He could all ready feel it becoming a part of his muscle memory as he continued to practice it. He needed to speed it up so that he could at least walk at a normal pace while doing it. Eventually he would need to be able to run but for now he would be content reaching the minor goals he was setting for himself. Another half and hour of practice and he had managed to cut the time between steps in half. Just constantly practicing and moving throughout the training field was making the skill easier and easier to use. He started randomly adding in jumps to his walking routine, making sure to land completely silently. He would definitely need to be able to jump and move around without creating and noise and with that in mind and another half hour of training the boy was pleased to note he could almost walk normally without a sound and he wasn’t making any noise as he landed. Deciding that was a good place to stop practicing at for the day he sat down to rest a bit before practicing his next technique.
Standing up after his break Senshi moved into the woods searing for a small animal, it took several minutes before he found a snow rabbit but once he did he started using the silent step technique to sneak up on it, moving quickly he captured it before smiling. It was time to practice with his affinity, Lightning. He had been lucky that his Chuunin instructor had liked him and been willing to allow him to test himself to find what he’d been. With that knowledge the Chuunin had pointed him to two low level techniques that would help him begin honing the skill. The first was a med nin type technique that would release a small, relatively harmless jolt of electricity from his palms.
It was known as Lightning Style: Shock Paddles. Typically used in the field of medicine to help restart a beating heart, Senshi was certain that shocking someone’s heart who didn’t need it would cause some level of damage to them. Even if it didn’t it would be a useful skill to have in the event he ever had to use it in the field. Plus it would afford him some training in his element in a technique that even those who weren’t of the lightning affinity could use. It would certainly be useful to learn before attempting the D rank technique his instructor had pointed him towards. Keeping what his instructor said in his mind Senshi snapped the rabbit’s neck laying it on the ground before him. He delved into his chakra feeling it flow for several seconds before feeling for that spark, it took several minutes but finally Senshi managed to recreate the feel of static electricity in his chakra.
Quickly clapping his hands together and yelling out the name of the technique he pushed both hands onto the rabbit. He could fell it move slightly under his hands, the muscles twitching and its hair suddenly standing on end but it wasn’t nearly powerful enough to actually shock the heart the way it was supposed to. At least he finally had a feel for the chakra he needed to build. This time it didn’t take nearly as long to recreate the feeling and then push more power into it before he clapped his hands and pressed them down again. He could feel a much larger jolt in the dead rabbit then he had before and it brought a smile to his face. Now that he was sure he knew how to mold the chakra he continued practicing for several minutes until he felt he had finally built up the correct level of power. Once he reached how strong he wanted it, he began to practice performing the technique faster and faster until after a half an hour of training he had finally managed to get it down to a ten second build up.
Senshi sat back breathing deeply as he looked at the dead rabbit before him, he had managed it. He had performed his first elemental jutsu. Not only was he a Genin but not he was really starting to progress and show that he had what it took to defend his village and his Kage. Standing up after his break Senshi moved back to the training grounds. He had borrowed kunai and shuriken from his father’s again and he moved to where he needed to be. It was time to continue practicing throwing his weapons, he wanted to be a weapons specialist and to that he needed to have impeccable accuracy. Drawing back he began to let loose on the Kunai and shuriken, alternating both hands and weapon type to challenge himself more. He spent thirty minutes working at a quarter speed ensuring his form was proper before he started gradually speeding it up.
Taking ten minutes to speed I up to half his best speed he then spent thirty minutes throwing at half speed before repeating the procedure. He drew back the kunai and shuriken and was throwing them at his best speed, trying to ensure his accuracy. He could already see how he was better than his Genin exam, but it still wasn’t acceptable enough. He wanted to hit the target dead on every time at his best speed, only then would he be able to begin practicing a quick draw technique to improve his speed and power. After an hour of throwing his kunai and shuriken at his best speed the boy finally drew to a close collecting them all before drawing two Kunai and approaching the training log.
He then began to practice basic slashes, starting at the mid-level against the log. A weapons specialist also needed to be able to wield weapons not just work from a ranged perspective. With this in mind he focused on making five hundred mid-level slashes per hand. He could feel the strain in his arms, but the steadily growing number of cuts in the log spurred him on. Once he had completed that he moved to making high vertical slashes with each arm. He ensured he moved at only a quarter of his speed, this was about ensuring his form not building his strength with each slash. That would come later, and certainly wasn’t something the black haired boy was going to focus on right now. Muscle memory was the most important thing, it would allow him t work better under stress and avoid making nearly as many technical errors as others would. His instructors had beat that idea into him and as such once he completed his five hundredth high verticle slash he moved to making high horizontal slashes. Forty five minutes of work later and Senshi decided that it was time to break for lunch. He could always continue after lunch, he wanted to make sure he appropriately impressed his Jounin Commander, and one day his Kage.

Re: Learning the Basics of Genin

Senshi returned to the training grounds the next day, with how well his training had gone the day before he was equally determine to learn something new today. He had withdrawn the technique scroll from the Shinobi Library last night and spent some of his designated study time going over it. He regretted spending so much of his time studying to learn about a technique since he greatly enjoyed improving himself in his basic academics but he knew it was necessary. The Keiren no Jutsu, or the cramp technique was one of the most basic lightning jutsus available to any shinobi. It was in effect simply a stronger version of the Shock Paddle technique he had learned the day prior. It used a significant amount more chakra, and required a more minute control of his chakra but Senshi felt confident he could get it right by the end of the day. Not combat effective but just being capable of using it. Further training would then make it a combat move. Though he intended to be a weapons specialist he knew that he needed to have techniques like this under his belt in order to be a threat to other shinobi. They wouldn’t be expecting a Weapons specialist to attack with ninjutsu. Senshi moved through the training grounds heading into the woods instantly he started using the silent step technique to ensure he maintained his practice and ability with it. It was time to go hunting for an animal that he could use for his training, watching the muscles of the animal clench would allow him to know when he had the technique down.
It took several minutes but eventually he had located a fox that he could use, as this was a predator Senshi made sure to stick to the shadows and stay downwind from the animal. He needed to get close to his to break its neck, since he’d rather not deal with a lot of blood. It still made him vaguely squeamish when he was around it. Stalking the animal for several minutes he finally darted out of the shadows pouncing on it and smashing its head into the ground before quickly twisting its neck sharply. It jerked several times under him before finally laying still with its tongue hanging out of its mouth. Releasing the pent up breath in his lungs Senshi moved off the animal kneeling next to it. The technique required him to convert his chakra to its electricity and then boost the power of it and direct it into the muscles of his foe. With enough training in it he could even eventually learn which muscles to direct it to and disable them. Focusing Senshi delved into his chakra pulling it forth and the focusing on converting it to electricity. He was far faster than the day before but it still took a long time for him to convert what he thought was enough electrical chakra. Bringing his hands up he formed the handseals ending with the dog seal and then thrust his hand downwards onto the dead fox.
He frowned as he noticed only a slight jump in the fox’s muscles, it was certainly more than he had done yesterday but still it hadn’t been nearly enough to cause a cramp in any of the muscles and be a hindrance like he needed it to be. Closing his eyes he again focused on his chakra drawing it forth, this time he spent several minuets drawing on his chakra and then converting it to its electrical form. His hands moved through the handseals and taking there time as he let the hand seals shape his chakra taking well over thirty seconds to move through the hand seals. As he ended with the dog seal, one hand a fist and the other a flat palm over it he felt the lightning chakra moving down his arms causing his hair to stand on ends. He thrust his hands downwards and was pleased to note that the fox visibly jumped beneath him, two of its legs muscles stood out. He stared watching the muscles until two minuets later they final seemed to relax in the creatures death. He felt a fierce amount of pride at his accomplishment in completeing the technique.
It had taken more chakra than he had ever actually channeled before and he could feel the tiredness seeping into his limbs. He really needed to work on increasing his chakra reserves so that he didn’t get as tired when he used techniques like this. Taking several minuets to rest, the boy performed a couple sets of push ups and sit ups deciding to work his body while he let his chakra replenish. Several minuets later when it was done he kneeled before the dead fox again and started channeling his chakra again, this time it was even easier then all the previous times to channel the amount he needed and converting it was becoming a significantly faster process. Once he was completed he flashed through the hand seals slight faster than last since now he understood how the chakra needed to flow and then thrust his hands downwards onto the creature. He was again pleasantly surprised by the animal jumping beneath him and two of its limbs again clenching tightly. Without resting he once again deleved into his chakra drawing it forth and converting as quickly as possible, his hands flashed through the seals at half his best speed before moving downwards forcefully into the creature watching as the lightning chakra transferred to it and all of its limbs were now clenched tightly.
A fierce grin split his face as he watched the limbs timing how long the cramps lasted. It was only slightly longer than the time before but it showed him that he was definitely progressing with the technique, an animals muscles would cramp much longer than that of an human seeing as how small they were. A bit more power, or even just more training he would be able to reliably use this against another person. He felt more confident in himself now that he had managed to give himself a true offensive technique. It may not be all that dangerous but it was certainly much better than having nothing at all under his abilities.

Re: Learning the Basics of Genin
Thu Nov 10, 2016 8:13 am
Senshi returned to the training grounds, having completed two missions for his village now he was beginning to feel like he was really contributing. Even though they were easy D rank missions, one had been for the academy and he had felt good at teaching those students how to perform the rope escape technique and showing off his Shadow shuriken technique. With a small smile to himself he began stretching before moving into his warm up exercises. A quick five laps around the training ground, he then began to perform several sets of push-ups, sit ups, and pull ups. Once he felt that he was properly warmed up he let his mind wander to the training he wanted to conduct today. The first thing he would be doing is working on the body flicker technique. It was a staple of Chuunin’s and above, but Senshi considered it a requirement for himself as a Genin. He would need the speed boosting aspects of the technique in order to perform some very basic weapons techniques that he wanted to learn. The body flicker was in its simplest form, using chakra to accelerate. However there were several dangers inherent in doing this as if the user was not careful or overdid it they would risk tearing their own muscles with the chakra.
Also control of the technique was notoriously difficult for novice users, as they could accidently send themselves careening in the wrong direction and thus hurting themselves. Senshi certainly had no intention of hurting himself and thus he would be starting with small amounts of chakra before he escalated to the amount he thought he would need. He also intended to use it as a burst of speed instead of allowing the puff of smoke, he figured it would be stealthier that way and Ninjas were supposed to be stealthy. Bringing his hand up he formed the ram seal visualizing how he wanted the chakra to flow into his muscles. He was careful only to draw on a small amount of his chakra before pushing off the ground. He didn’t blur into nonexistence the way he had seen several other shinobi do but he did notice a slight increase in how fast he had moved. Though he had only gone about two and a half meters from his starting point he could see dust still falling from how quickly he had moved. It appeared all his training with his chakra was working and he maintained a good control of it.
Bringing his hands up into the ram seal again he pulled on slightly more chakra than before and focused on how he wanted himself to move much faster as he directed the chakra to his muscles. This time a small puff of smoke came up as he took off landing five meters away and then suddenly stumbling at the huge decrease in speed. He had not been expecting his momentum to change so fast, and as such he face planted into the dirt. With a frown he pushed himself up, at least he had mostly managed the technique correctly that time. He would need to practice on making sure the smoke didn’t appear around him, and more practice would also let him adapt to the disorienting feeling of his momentum suddenly disappearing. He brought his hands up continuing to practice the technique though despite his many attempts over the next half hour he was having trouble bother making the puff of smoke disappear and adjusting to the loss in momentum. He had face planted so many times he would be unsurprised to see a large bruise on his face after this. Grumbling to himself he sat on the ground to take a quick rest break and figure out where he was experiencing his problems out.
He was pushing the chakra to his muscles correctly but he had been so excited to really get started on the technique that he had started going full force without working his way up like he had planned. If he worked with a lower amount of chakra he would have less speed but then equally he could control the smoke and his ability to adapt to the momentum change. With that in mind he stood back up and renewed his practicing with a vigor. This time he was drawing on significantly less chakra and when he released it and moved forward there was no puff of smoke though he did stumble slightly upon stopping the technique. He grinned fiercely to himself now that he had found a way to work around his problem he could start improving again. He practiced several more times with the same incredibly low amount of chakra before he couldn’t finally do it five times in a row without stumbling when he arrived at the destination.
From there he started to slowly increase the amount of chakra he was using spending several tries on each amount until he could perform them without stumbling at the end and with no smoke escaping his body. Not kicking up dirt was a whole other problem that he figured he would work on another time so that he could be even stealthier with the technique. Taking a brief break Senshi was ready to start working on using the technique at the normal amount of chakra levels he had been at before. It took several tried and almost thirty minutes before he could use the technique appropriately, with no stumbling at the end and without the tell-tale sign of smoke. Grinning he moved over to a spot about fifteen meters from a tree. Now he could practice shooting towards it with the body flicker and and landing attacks. He started by drawing a Kunai and then initiating the technique. It took several tries before he could move exactly where he wanted to and then lash out with the Kunai and cause small cuts. As he continues to practice he came closer and closer to his target landing deeper and deeper cuts. After another thirty minutes of practice he sat down with his back against the tree breathing deeply as he caught his breath and tried to replenish some of his chakra.
It was time to begin working on the second technique that he thought would be useful to himself as a Genin. It had come with the recommendation of the librarian at the Shinobi library. It was referred to as Chakra Anesthetic, and though Senshi did not want to be a medic ninja he knew that having a base grasp of the art was important for any shinobi. At least then he could stabilize himself or a teammate long enough to get them back to safety or a properly trained medic Nin. The technique would require him to go hunting and find and animal to practice on again but he wasn’t too worried as he had a plan for that. First though he needed to review what he knew of the technique to make sure he had a plan on how to work on it. The hand seals for the technique were the hare, then ox, and finally monkey. He would know he was channeling his chakra correctly when he saw small blue flame like apparitions of his chakra forming on his fingertips. Once he had successfully managed to channel the chakra correctly he would then need to shove his hand forwards with a lot of force in order to lightly penetrate the skin of whomever chest he was trying to help. That would likely hurt briefly but then the chakra would begin to work and dull or completely negate all the pain the target was feeling.
Senshi really didn’t look forwards to ever having to use this technique on himself or another but could see how useful it would be in a deadly fight. If he or his teammates couldn’t feel pain they would be able to push themselves to fight harder if they needed it. Or in the least he could relieve some of their pain while transporting those to better medical help then he would probably be able to provide. Deciding that before he went hunting he would make sure he could at least channel the chakra appropriate he started running himself through the hand seals. He focused on moving slowly, and practiced them several times in a row until he could steadily increase the speed he was forming them with. Once he could reliably do them at three quarters of his best speed he decided it was time to start drawing on his chakra and see if he could at least get the flame like apparitions to appear on his hands. Running himself through the hand seals again and pulled on his chakra taking his time to allow it to run through the seals and shape itself as it needed to. It certainly felt weird compared to any other technique he had been using. Pushing that thought aside he finished the hand seals and looked at his hand in hope. He was delighted to see his fingers were giving off a light blue tint but it quickly sputtered out.
A few more practice rounds and he figured he would probably be able to produce the results he was looking for. He continued to practice but rather than a few rounds it took him over thirty minutes in order to get what he was looking for. A strong blue flame like apparition now stood out from each of his five fingers on his right hand. They cast a weird glow over the rest of his palm before Senshi let the technique die out. He then began to practice so he could get the same results on his left hand. This time it didn’t take nearly as long since he was beginning to get a strong grasp on how the chakra needed to flow and form into. Once he could reliably form the technique on each hand he took a fifteen minute break as he could feel his chakra levels dropping and knew he would need more of it. Once had felt rested enough he began practicing on speed of the technique. He needed to be able to form it quickly to make it usable in combat, no way was he going to have a technique that took him almost a minute to activate. With that in mind he spent over an hour working on it until he could get the technique to form in either hand in just under ten seconds. For now that would have to do, he could practice more on it later to speed it up but at least he could do that much. Now it was time to find a snow rabbit. He would need one of them if he was going to see how well the technique worked since often rabbits screamed very loudly when they were in pain he would know that the technique was working with them.
It didn’t take long to find what he was looking for, stalk it, and then capture it. Now he was not looking forwards to what he was about to do. Pulling a kunai from his pouch he made cut on the animals right foreleg and it immediately began to scream. Securing the animal between his thighs he ran his hands through the hand seals and then forced his hands down as hard as he could not enjoying the feeling of breaking through the creatures skin and its blood flowing over his hands. He was relieved to note that after several seconds it finally stopped screaming. Taking a deep breath he started timing how long it took before the creature felt pain again. Ten and a half minutes later and it started screaming, channeling his chakra this time using slightly more Senshi again performed the technique this time using the same puncture marks he had as before. He didn’t want to be unnecessarily cruel after all. He was pleased enough with the results of the technique the second time that he quickly snapped the creatures neck and headed off to first wash his hands and then head to lunch. He would return then to get in some more training and practice.

Re: Learning the Basics of Genin
Thu Nov 10, 2016 9:19 am
After Senshi had returned from lunch he was excited to begin work on his newest technique, it was the finally pre-requisite he could find that would allow him to really start learning the better weapons techniques that he had been able to briefly skim over. It was known as the chakra infusion technique, and was typically not bothered to be learned by most until after they had made it all the way to Jounin. This brought on a lot of feelings of trepidation for the young shinobi in that he knew he was a long way off from even being able to become a Chuunin let along a Jounin of all things. Jounin was a rank reserved not only for those who were incredibly strong but also for those who possessed great leadership abilities and outstanding loyalty to their village. Senshi didn’t believe he would honestly ever be able to have the leadership abilities or strength required to one day be a Jounin, but he knew that he at least had to push himself to be the best that he could be in order to better serve his village. Pushing his thoughts of wanting to improve himself away, he directed his focus onto the piece of paper he had brought with him to the training grounds. Usually he relied on his memory but for such an advanced technique he knew he would need to be able to refresh himself accurately on the topic at hand.
The Chakra infusion technique was in its most basic form that ability to allow his chakra to flow into a weapon or object and thus increase not only its durability but the sharpness of the weapon. Once he got good enough at increasing the durability of the weapon he would be able to push his elemental chakra into the weapons and thus create all sorts of new havoc for his village’s enemies. Senshi couldn’t wait until he would be able to put his lightning chakra into an object and thus be capable of not only wounding them with a blade but also causing all sorts of electrical damage. It took him several moments to push his day dreams away, he needed to be focused on the here and now of the technique. Not on what he would be capable of once he learned it, though he was sure that he would impress any Jounin Commander he got with his abilities once he got them. He hoped his diligence in not only his training but also in reporting for missions would be recognized when he received a commander. Pushing those thoughts away again he directed his attention back towards the piece of paper.
The technique was generally considered so complex because shinobi needed to be careful the amount of chakra they put into a weapon or else they would destroy it. Senshi definitely didn’t want to destroy the small amounts of weapons he currently possessed and thus he would need to start with using the smallest amounts of chakra to ensure he didn’t destroy or damage them in anyways. Making himself repeat that to himself several times over to ingrain it into his mind he then continued reading. At first the weapon would glow with his chakra indicating that it was so charged and enhanced. However he would be able to eventually prevent it from glowing through simple practice, once he learned how much chakra a weapon needed to be enhanced without outwardly showing so. He wanted desperately to reach that point since it would be even more of a surprise to an enemy that didn’t know he had the ability. With all the information of the page refreshed into his mind he tucked it away before pulling out a badly formed Kunai he had borrowed from his father’s shop. In the event he did mess up and destroy the weapon he didn’t want to destroy his own Kunai. Practicing on this bad one first would at least let him get the worst failures out of the way and give him some confidence when he began using his own.
Pulling on his chakra he grabbed just enough to use a transformation technique before pushing it down his arms and into the kunai. He visualized the kunai both glowing and becoming harder as best he could. As he stared at the Kunai he could see no visible reaction to it which brought a frown to his face. There was no way he had used the perfect amount on his first try. Senshi knew he wasn’t an especially great Shinobi, even though he understood theory well he had problems putting things into practice quickly. Letting the flow of chakra die down he again focused on pulling on his chakra this time he envisioned the chakra hardening the kunai and making it more durable before he pushed it down into the kunai. As he did this he kept a close view on his chakra feeling it flow from his core center down his arm. It was doing this that he realized where he had messed up before. Once the chakra reached his arm and he directed it to flow out into his hand and then into the kunai he could feel a resistance to his chakra moving forwards. The Kunai or the metal itself was resisting the chakra being forced into it, almost naturally repelling it.
Senshi was sure that this was common place as there was no chakra network in the kunai thus it was difficult to maintain a flow of chakra through them. It was probably easier with a more malleable element like earth but with unyielding, harsh, steel it would not only require more chakra but an insane amount of practice to adjust to the steel. Focusing on pushing steadily and steadily more power down his arms, Senshi was surprised when finally he felt some of the chakra flow into the handle of the Kunai. It felt odd, his chakra didn’t want to push any further yet but he could feel it flowing reluctantly into the kunai. It was using a bit more than the d rank techniques he knew, but he also knew the cost would drop a bit as he got more used to flowing his chakra into metal. He continued to let his chakra flow just feeling out how the metal felt with it. As he did so it was becoming easier and easier to maintain the flow of chakra into just the handle. Abruptly he cut off his chakra flow gasping for breath, he hadn’t realized he had been maintaining the flow of chakra for several minutes.
Taking a breather Senshi reviewed what he had experienced, his chakra had resisted hard initially due to the lack of chakra pathways in the metal and the foreign feeling of it. But as he had pushed forwards it had slowly began to adapt to the way the metal felt and was forged and began to flow easier. He could still feel the feeling the metal had left on the chakra, it made it seem slightly colder than usual, as though it wasn’t a living force anymore. That made sense to the boy as metal was a cold, unfeeling element. He would need to focus on that feeling during his next attempt at flowing chakra into his busted kunai. Taking a breath he picked the Kunai back up and once again pushed his chakra forwards down into it. This time there was much less resistance to his chakra invading the foreign presence in his hand. He could feel it flowing much smoother now, though there was still the taint of the unknown feeling there. Ignoring it he focused on the way the metal felt in his hands, and the way it made his chakra feel. Then he began to push his chakra again forcing it to flow and take over more of the kunai than it had previously. This time he managed to feel his chakra flow completely throughout the kunai, engulfing it and trying to make it feel like his own.
Senshi didn’t fight the feeling letting his chakra flow freely between himself and the metal, he spent several minutes just feeling out the kunai and letting his chakra adapt before he cut off the flow to take another break. Though he wasn’t physically exerting himself he was pushing his chakra beyond the boundaries that he was used to. He could see now why this was a technique only Jounin typically bothered to deal with. It was useful but incredibly time consuming in the beginning. The bounty of learning the technique would pay off immensely though. Returning to his training, Senshi flowed his chakra down into the handle pleased by the decreased amount of resistance that he was feeling and then pushed again. Slightly more resistance than his push into the kunai but less than before. He flowed his chakra throughout the whole kunai again for several moments before he began visualizing how he wanted it to harden. As he watched the kunai and he flowed his chakra it steadily began to glow a light blue color. He pushed slightly more chakra into it and finally the kunai had a strong steady blue glow to it. For the first time Senshi could feel the chakra flowing evenly between him and the kunai and it brought a feeling of pride to the boy. This felt almost natural, it was quite a nice feeling to being able to use the technique even if it had taken several minutes to charge.
He cut the flow of chakra off and then restarted it, he spent fifteen minutes repeating this process until it only took fifteen seconds to fully charge the kunai. He then switched hands and began repeating the process. Now that he know how to flow the chakra into the kunai and the feeling it took, he only needed to spend fifteen minutes before he could successfully do the same with his left hand. Then he spent time speeding the process up until he was down to the same fifteen second build time he had achieved with his other hand. Putting the kunai down him pulled out two of his own, one in each hand, and began flowing the chakra down both arms simultaneously. It took several minutes until he could charge both at the same time. He then started the process of restarting the technique over and over again in order to ensure that he could do it quickly. This time it didn’t take nearly as long and he managed to get his charge time of the technique down to only seven seconds. With that in mind Senshi moved to his next process, throwing the weapon and it maintain the chakra within it for the entire flight. It quickly became apparent that he was going to need to pump that chakra into the kunai and force it to swirl around so that it would act almost like he was charging it while he threw it.
Unfortunately he was having to work slowly again, like in the beginning in order to get this effect from the kunai. It took well over an hour before he could successfully create the swirling motion within in the kunai and even then he still had to work on getting it up to a high enough momentum that it would continue for several seconds without his interference. Once had had finally managed to do that however he was able to start throwing the kunai and he could see how they were both loosing less sharpness with every hit than before, and they were striking the target much harder than he was used to. A grin flashed across his face as he began working on his speed with the throwing version of the technique. He obviously couldn’t stand back and just wait for, forever to charge a technique like this. It needed to become almost instinctual, however he would just accept getting it down to at least fifteen seconds for today. Improvements were after all incremental, while initially he would be able to do so quickly, eventually progress would slow and he would struggle for even half a second of improvements. With this in mind he began his process of starting and restarting the charging of the kunai until he could successfully do it in fourteen seconds.

Just a note: I now know Silent Step isnt a Valid skill so if that could just be read as a training post in stealth it would be greatly appreciated.
