The test of the next generation!
Wed Nov 16, 2016 12:27 am
Exam day was here and Kei was 100% sure he was not the only nervous one in the room. His entire class was sitting behind their desks as they waited for their names to be called. Only a few hushed murmors were spoken as silence was the dominating noise at the moment. Or maybe it was Kei's heartbeat, he wasn't entirly sure others couldn't hear it. He looked down at his note pages, going over the basics of the possible exam jutsus. He knew them by heart at this point, but still he was nervous. He watched as a friend of his got his name called. The young man strode forward confidently towards the exam room, a cocky swag to his steps. At least someone is feeling confident about the exam Kei thought miserably to himself. He buried his head in his hands as he waited for his name to be called.
His sister had already passed the exam and on her first try too! Failing it now would mean no end of teasing by her or by his friends. His heart lept into his throat as the thought of being the only one left behind captured his mind. What would his parents say? He would be bring shame and dishonor into his families name. Hell, he might even be putting them at risk! His family was only allowed in due to their unique lineage. If he didn't live up to the standards expected of them, would the village ask his family to leave? Kei planted his face on his desk as he tried to banish these thoughts away. He just needed to focus. Just needed to relax. He had this. He had trained harder then any of his friends for this. He would not fail! ......... Probably

The morning brought with it an entire crowd of Genin hopefuls she hadn't anticipated. The blonde was used to seeing up to a dozen hopefuls at a time in her usual morning sessions but today the number was almost four times that much. And while it only boded well for the village that this many young ones wanted to serve in the shinobi force, it also meant her entire morning being dedicated to the task of evaluating each one. No other proctor seemed to be available leaving Akihana to go through the applicants herself, not that the medic minded. She greeted each student with the same warm smile as they entered the small examining area and gave them the same set of instructions.
The student she was currently evaluating seemed confident but only in his spirit. His jutsu needed a lot more work so did his strategic thinking. Shaking her head, the kunoichi suggested he practice more and take a few basic classes to refresh before letting him go. Once he'd left, she poked her golden head out of the door and called out the next name.
"Kei Yuki, please," she called out towards the twenty or so students that still remained. Should the student in question get up and make his way to the examining room, she would invite him to stand in the center.
"Hi there, I'm Akihana and I will be your proctor today. Please perform the clone and transformation jutsu to the best of your ability and name one non combat use for each one." With that, she would step back to give him some space.
"You may take as much time as you ike," she added with a warm smile in case he was nervous.

Now thats a dejected face.... Kei thought as he watched his friend walk away from the room, held head down low. That was not a good sign. A lady stuck her head outside of the door though and called his name. Guess it was his turn to face the music. The would be genin got out of his chair and nervously walked into the room, both hands in his pockets. The lady on the inside motioned to the center of the room, but Kei took a look around before. It was just her in here? That wasn't so scary. He let his eyes wander all over the room, seeming to take everything. He cocked his head to one side as she introduced herself. His nervousness faded away at her smile, his shoulders relaxing as the tension eased its way out of him. He had this, nothing would stop him from becoming a genin. His manners kicked in a few seconds too late, but Kei gave a bow anyways
"Kei Yuki, reporting for the test ma'am."
The young man pursed his lips as he heard the instructions. Not too complicated. He looked down at the ground, trying to think of what to do when a thought struck him. It would be a little bit more effort then just doing it normally, but this was his exam! He had to show off his best and give it his all.Taking both hands out of his pocket, Kei formed a rapid succession of hand signs. A puff of smoke blocked view of the genin for a second before it blew away to reveal Akihana standing there! Or at least a student pretending to be her. Kei wasn't done trying to show off though. Maintaing his transformation, he performed another set of hand signs. Another small puff of smoke cleared away to reveal there was now a room full of Akihana. Well, four to be precise. The three imposters gave a large grin before the forms were released. He rubbed his belly, feeling out his chakra reserves. That actually wasn't so bad. Seems he was either getting the hang of those jutsus or he was getting more energy for this. Not bad either way. He bowed once more to the lady before sitting down cross legged in the middle of the room. Sitting down always helped him think for whatever reason. His mother always said it was because more blood went to his brain then to his wandering feet.
Kei: "Well, for non combat uses the transformation is easy. One can use it as a cover for infiltration or scouting. Taking the form of a dog or wolf, or maybe even a rodent would allow one to scout ahead with little chance of detection. But for the clone jutsu..."
Kei paused, rubbing his chin. Now a non combat use for a clone jutsu? That was a bit tougher to think for. His mind kept on leaping directly to combat uses only. It was like his train of thought only had one track in at the moment. Kei suddenly realized what a one track mind meant, but he brushed that aside. Amazing discoveries were for later, now he needed to think of a use for clone outside of combat. Really, the only thoughts that came to him was to use a clone to have someone to talk too which was a weird thought. He let his mind wander through a multidue of random scenarios, trying to imagine a way to use the clone jutsu. Like a bolt of lightning, Kei had a moment of clarity. He sat upright, a bright look in his eyes
Kei: "Oh! Its actually quite simple! You could use the jutsu if you know you are watched as a dummy. As in you make the clone ya? Then leave it behind while you slip off to do whatever else. If you do it right, the person watching you shouldnt be able to tell the difference unless they come into contact with you!"
Thank you sis! Kei thought to himself. His sister had actually used the clone jutsu to do the same thing. She left behind a clone in her room that appeared to be studying while she actually slipped off to go hang out with some boy or something. Their parents didn't realize something was up till hours later when she was still 'studying' when she was suppose to be asleep. She got busted hard for it, but right now Kei was thanking the gods above and below for his sister truant ways. He bowed his head once more as he submitted his answers. He thought he got them correct, but his heart was still in his throat. He wanted this so badly and it was so close yet so far. All his training and hard work had lead up to this very moment. He closed his eyes, breath held waiting for the verdict.

Akihana remained silent giving the young man a chance to perform his jutsu and explain his methods without interruption, and it worked. He started with the transformation technique, executing it flawlessly and then proceeding to clone the transformation so that five Akihanas stood in the room. Impressive indeed.
When he proceeded to explain the uses, the blonde listened carefully, checking off the points on her clipboard, and when he was finished and bowing, the kunoichi allowed another smile.
"Well Mr. Yuki, you must have worked very hard because this is the best I've seen all morning. Welcome aboard the Kumogakure shinobi force, you are now a Genin of our village." With that, she would hand him one of the brand new headbands lying on a table beside her. "Be sure to go out there and make us proud. If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the mission counter, or you can return to the academy as well. We offer refinement courses in chakra control to those who have already reached Genin too."
With that she would hear anything he had to say before dismissing him with a kind smile and a friendly wave.
