Stretching herself to warm up, Yuri waited for Ren to get herself back into action after long periods without action from her input for a while. Looking around the area where she waited meanwhile, there weren't a lot of obstructions above her height, there were only some trees taller than her at best. She thought again, what would she expect of a village that protects itself using a nature-defying dome. She continued to warm herself up waiting for Ren.

Ren strode towards the Village outskirts, Yuri had been wanting to catch up for ages and he had been so busy fixing the myriad of issues within the academy since he had taken over, that he had scarcely had time to maintain his skills; let alone improve them. Ren had finally decided to take the day off and sparing with Yuri would be the perfect chance to kill two birds with one stone. As Ren wandered along the dusty road he eventually arrived at their meeting place, a tall hillock overlooking the village on one side, and leading into the forrest on the other. Glancing around for a moment Ren saw Yuri standing a few feet away, stretching as if she'd just gotten up from a nap.

Allowing himself a rare moment of the childish glee; that he had once been the norm for him; before his promotion, and the stress it put him under, forced him to grow up; Ren bolted across the small distance between the two of them, calling out her name in excitement as he leapt forward to give her a hug. "How have you been?" Ren asked excitedly, pulling back from the hug and looking the girl in front of him in the eye; "I haven't seen you in months, everything is going well for you I hope?" Ren would ask, allowing himself to slowly fall into the casual relaxed chatter that he tended towards when he was around the girl.

Yuri could now sense Ren. Like the usual, a calm signature detection that would see him running at her as though trying to make a dynamic entry. Seeing Ren in air again reminded her of the exams which she might have done better if not his leaps. If only she had met him before the exam. With the incoming momentum he had given himself in midair, Yuri would hold him like a child, handle him at the waist and look up. You haven't changed.

Feeling Yuri catch him Ren would look down at the girl, and give her a charismatic grin, but at Yuri's words Ren's face would drop a little, a pained grimace flashing across his face for a second before returning to a hollow shadow of the smile that he had only a moment ago. Shifting his legs forward and back to alter his center of gravity, and generate enough force to slip out of Yuri's hands Ren would land on the ground just in front of her before replying "Ah Yuri, how I wish that was true, things have changed so much in such a short period of time"

Upon Ren's reply and indication of breaking her hold, Yuri let go of him. Yuri thought for a while and looked at Ren with a doubt and doubted herself at the same time. You may be right. We'll see. Yuri took a few steps back with a hand back to grab her kunai anytime and adjusting her legs for better combat maneuvering. Let's see what you've gain during my absence.

As Yuri took a few steps back Ren would do the same, sensing that a battle was about to start, Ren would reach back and pull a Kunai from where it hung on his belt with his left hand as he reached out his right hand, palm extended towards Yuri. Should she try to charge him as he was Readying the weapon Ren would be Ready to Release the Dark River breaking seal on his hand.

As Ren copied her action given the context, Yuri soon find herself about 20 meters away from him. A fair distance to start a combat. Looking at how Ren raised his hand, it would look to Yuri that Ren had decided to start with a defensive approach. Seeing as Ren had both hands busy, Yuri took this as a start and begin running in a circular path around Ren to maintain her current distance seeing that there isn't much obstacle to begin with for free roam around Ren. Reaching for her kunai is secondary now as expecting Ren to try something is crucial with her vision on Ren while running. Should Ren's back be exposed for a moment, Yuri would attempt to perform the shadow clone jutsu for her next plan.

As Yuri Looked at Ren's hand she would likely blink only realise she was in a jungle sinking into quicksand and unable to move. Meanwhile Ren would be making his move, first he would throw a kunai, a piece of cork on the tip to ensure that it wouldn't kill Yuri if she didn't dodge it, into the sky aiming it to fly up, out of Yuri's vision and then come sailing down in about 20 seconds to hit her in the head if she didn't move. then, using his extended palm Ren would fire a bolt of force from his hand directly at her.

It did not take very long for Yuri to find herself sinking during her run. Misfortune seems to be finding her at the start of the battle. However, to think that the surroundings would receive drastic change with a short amount of time would mean Ren could alter landscapes. That was not on Yuri's knowledge of him, at least not of his heritage. Hence it is totally possible for her not to move according to plan yet. She could not pinpoint what was wrong but it would not hurt to guess that Ren tried to alter reality. Seeing as her sinking is inevitable given the context that this is not a real fight, she closes her eyes expecting just the next thing to happen.

Ren blinked in surprise as the bolt of force came flying into Yuri just as the kunai dropped from the sky and hit her on the head. 'huh I really didn't expect that to work." Wandering over to Yuri Ren placed his hand on her shoulder and allowed his chakra to flow into her, breaking her free of his genjutsu and then moved on to healing the wound that would have been inflicted on her from his river breaking seal. "All right then, getting a bit rusty there are we Yuri?" Ren said, still a little surprised that trick had worked. Once Yuri was healed and he'd had a moment to sit and recover his strength Ren would speak up "Alrighty so how about we go again, no Genjutsu this time?"
