Burned Out [Yensung][Open, NK]

Ayame had set up her belongings in her hotel room and had Nita's drinking stand and food bowl set up. She could never get comfortable on the soft bed that was provided to her and spent most of her first night tossing and turning without getting a wink of sleep. She missed her apple tree home.

In the morning she showered and rubbed her skin in with the aloe lotion the boy who lead her into the village mentioned. It helped a little but still caused her a significant amount of pain. She also made sure to moisten her rat with a cool washcloth  and then let her dry by the fan in her room.

Ayame avoided the common comforts that she allowed her rat to indulge in. She needed to get used to the environment and could not afford to risk her adaptation process.

She thought back to last night where she had seen Yen enter one of the rooms on her floor. She had said nothing and kept her head down. After their last meeting, she was quite nervous traveling with the guy.

However, she wished to make a good impression, and therefore promptly walked up to his door. It was about 11 am, so he should be up and likely had not left for lunch yet. She knocked on the solid faded wood door and awaited a response.

When and/or If he opened the door she would respond by stating "Hey, it's me, the loser friend of Orokana's. I feel like maybe we got off on the wrong foot. Do you think maybe we could train together before the upcoming exam? I'm only a genin and not very good, but I am determined. You also fight well from what little I have seen. Maybe could you teach me a thing or two?"

Yen was simply meditating in the sunlight from dawn taking occasional breaks. In the shade of his room. The air in suna was diffrent. In a sense more dry and lacking moisture. This truely was a desert. But an wonderous place to be and exist in. 

All in tandom the people work with the animals and what is provided. For the sake of survival. Many must be here for years to gain even the basics. It truely is impressive. 


The sound of knocking on the door was the first greeting yen recived in the whole day. A tiny chakra presence was behind the door and yen merely spoke. After hearing the girl speak up.

"Enter"


Yen offered without turning towards the door since it was open from the break of dawn this day till he would leave out for the busy suna life outside.

Yen would stand to his feet and reach over towards his straw hat on the hat stand and his eye patch placing each one on carefully before putting on his blue cloak and stare at the girl with his single eye.

"You are seeking training before the exam? It will not be easy especially my regiment.  you would have to adapt with the eviorment while training. It is not like hitting targets at the traing grounds at home. No..  I will grant you real training... Nothing that a practice dummy can offer, and nothing that a target, nor tree will confirm... you may be determined, but I warn you this is not for bones that can be gashed against the winds to be shattered. If wish to train with me you put your life in the esscence of your determination Ayame."

Yen didnt stop his speech as he merely continued speaking in a kind manner.

 " Take note that even at our first meet.  I was not even fighting. I hardly did a thing. If i truely did fight  oro wouldnt have gotten off easily, nor be here at all. If you awknowledge the risks then you will follow me. But i want you to consider your choices carefully. Think on what it is you are seeking. Im not an ninjutsu specialist."

Yen spoke calmly and surprisiny reaasuringly,  yet his message spoke of the challenge ahead for the girl. It was not for the faint in heart. Nor the meek. Tough words did not impress yen.

Ayame watched him with a solemn curiosity as he spoke in a strange cadence with sketchy grammar and huge words that had never graced her ears before.

"Yes, I am seeking training, and of course I do not expect it to be easy." she uttered softly timid and unwanting to meet his gaze. "But it's something I need to do, for I cannot simply be the eternal genin," she stated softly still avoiding eye contact, something she often did when intimidated in a non-threatening situation.

She heeded his advice and considered the risks.

(And then she said "Fuck it" and left)(Just kidding please don't hurt me D:)

"I'll follow." she finally uttered looking up and scanning him for the slightest emotion, yet was somehow unable to find one. "My only request is that we eventually go to a place with water so that I may work on my summons just a little" her overall meek demeanor changed to a more serious and prepared one. She still remained polite, though.

Nita sat upon Ayame's shoulder in the same place as yesterday, hiding the rat-shaped unburned spot on her left shoulder, but after Ayame's last statement, she hopped down to investigate the strange man and the room they were in.

Water? Yen knew he could make that work in the equation. However, yen silently studied the girl quietly as  she consustently adverted his gaze. It was not a comforting sight.


We defintley have alot of work to do....


Yen thought as he without even a sigh lead the way. Taking note of the heat diffrence was simple for yen. It was a steady heat that meant little to one if they were going to travel a short distance. But for a day's worth of training it would play an decicive factor. Simple actions become sluggish, mere exertion would prove exhuasting. To some shinobi this would be the game changing effect, but to yen it was not his concern. 

Yen strolled as if he was in no hurry. This was a partial truth.  yen wanted to enjoy the scenery before training, and the training also began as soon as the girl requested for training. Things were going to be done in due time. The question was not "when was the training?"nor "where was the training?" But how the training was conducted.

Yen remained silent as they travled only speaking up as they neared the sandy training area. 
"We should be able to host a decent training session here."


Yen turned towards ayame and then took a seat on the ground speaking up to the girl, and motioning her to take a seat. 

 "So You do not want to be an eternal genin.... that is a good goal. So your goal for today is to utilize your techniques for not offense. But for survival, a technique that can destroy can easily save you precious time and energy in the long run. Here in the area voided of water. All living things are drawn to water, they need it for survival. Water is the esscence of life."

Yen gestered to the area around them and continued.


"It is here ayame that you must not look for a scource of water, but you must become the scource of water. You cannot expect there to always be a natural scource, nor would you have the time to search for these scources. But what you can do is use your brain. Think about each technique you know, and find another use for them. Versitility is a trait  that many have, but few very few consitently use it. Just like every word has an opposite. There is another use for each technique."

Yen smiled at ayame as he took a second to speak up  a final task.

"Your goal is to use your techniques to not win but survive the hot day. You will use whatever you can  to keep up the pressure on me, and use the water chakra for jutsu to keep yourself cool. It is an simple challenge survival of the fittest. This will enhance your resilience in the eviorment, and keep  you ever vigilant."

Yen spoke  in a kind manner, remaining respectful but now he was seeking results.

Ayame followed him silently, focusing her attention on her senses and what they were telling her.  There was a bakery nearby that was cooking fresh bread for example, but she could not see it. She could hear children playing games as they passed by. It made her smile, seeing how happy they were.

She quite enjoyed the pace at which they were walking. It was a usual pace for her when she would roam around the training grounds at home. It was strangely comforting to her.

She sat next to the boy listening to what he was saying carefully as Nita curled up upon her partner's lap. "Become the water..." she spoke to herself. "If I was in the leaf, I could make a hole in the ground and fill it with a water ninjutsu. However, here that would only create a giant quicksand puddle here, wouldn't it?" then she shook her head quickly. "It's useless to dawn on things that aren't."

How would she go about finding a receptacle that could stably hold water? Maybe if she could blow enough sand away to where she would get to a harder substance... No that couldn't work. Mostly due to the fact that it would take too long and cost too much energy, but also that the sand would not make for good edges in a pool of water.

Then it dawned on her. Lightning!

The air was dry enough to where she might be able to pull it off, but it would not be easy. She still hadn't mastered the lightning element that Oro kana and Kirino had been teaching her, and she didn't know any lightning jutsu, but she had been studying them before she left Konoha.

It was visible by how her eyes were darting back and forth as if watching a fly in the distance, that the wheels in her head were turning; that she was on the edge of an epiphany.

Fulgurite. When Lightning strikes sand, it creates fulgurite. If she could create some large enough, she could make a smaller pool of water. The only problem with this theory is making it hollow without shattering it. If she were to create a solid chunk it would be near-impossible to do in a decent amount of time. However, if the lightning created an already-hollow piece of fulgurite, which was extremely common, the water would just run through.

So the trick was making a fulgurite that was hollow on one end, but solid on the other. In nature that would be impossible to accomplish because of the very nature of unmanipulated lightning, but it was the only idea she had that was even remotely possible. She would have to practice on a much smaller scale than what she needed, in order to get the right feel to it without wasting too much chakra, and then translate her method to a larger scale in order to accomplish that task.

All this information was racing through Ayame's mind faster than what she could talk, had she been speaking.

"Are you asking me to attack you?" she asked to be clear, "Or are you asking me to survive out here the rest of the day without going back to the village." She was a little confused, but her voice remained monotone and deeper than earlier. She was deep in thought, yet vigilant, though if he would attack her, there would be little she could do. She remained polite but her overall cheery demeanor had changed.

Then her mind drifted onto how, if mastered, she could keep the technique secret from the sand shinobi due to the third round of the exams being combat based. She could come back at night to dig up the fulgurites, or she could create them very widely apart to make them look as if they occurred naturally. She could also destroy them. But which method would be the least taxing?

Ayame focused on building the lightning energy within her and through her hands. She remembered the nature of lightning, how it was unpredictable, sharp, hard to control, and how it needed to be controlled. She often shocked herself when trying to conjure this drastically different element to her own, but this time no such shock occurred. Surprised, she looked at her hands with awe as she began to pass occasional sparks between her fingertips.

It was nothing special, in truth, but she looked upon it as a great accomplishment. To her, it was.

So what was she to do? Releasing chakra into the ground wouldn't do very much, would it? She would have to try one of the Jutsu she read about prior to this training session, but which one? She spent the next few minutes in silence pondering this, bringing her knees to her chest and resting her chin on them. It burned a fair bit, but she ignored it.

Yen enjoyed watching others work through the various tasks in front of him. In simple theory what went through her mind and actions seemingly showed more then enough joy to yen. A slight smile came to his face  as he watched the girl seemingly conjure up lightning element through her finger tips. 

Smart using a nice natural element to solve the problem. She is crafty.


Yen thought as his smile faded and he awnsered her question simply.

"Both, survival is based not off just the natural as your ally and defying the odds. But being able to survive and protect yourself and others. Threats exist everywhere and it matters not rank nor experience, out here you must fight not like its a spar, but to show purpose and intent. You are to do both and maintain your chakra levles."

Yen stood up and turned away as he spoke. He was not going to go full power but merely basic for the moment.

 "Is it better to use powerful jutsu? Or simple ones? In your first move of the instant is it better to attack, defend? Or gather intel? Each of these questions are awnsered in survival. They are all done simotaneously. Feel the eviorment around you and ask yourself. What must you do now? To complete this training you have to survive both the eviorment and myself.  Gather what you know. Take the unknown. Try to tear into the fabric of knowledge and see what this can teach you."

It was a tricky bit. But it was yens form of combat simply hiding the truth in plain sight.  However, as the girl would take this as some way to show her abilities. It was far from it. Yen merely pointed out that there was two fronts she had to face, the natural elements, and the opponent before her. It was a question of wearing one down vs trying to strain themselves. In other words. Should she act now to fight? Or try to use the eviorment to reduce her opponents down? 


Now im curious to how well she can discern all of this. There is no question about thinking. But the battle smarts in the end? Against the odds can she over come the gaps..  even with another simply thinking to test her? A true quest to see  adaptbility in the unfamiliar eviorments? This will be interesting.


Yen thought as he simply turned towards the girl and spoke.

"You may comence on the training when ready"

Ayame thought on what Yen was saying. She knew the info he was teaching her already. The only part of this lesson that she had to learn was the aspect of multi-tasking; the combination of physically fighting and finding or making the things needed to survive. She could do either on her own, but together it was exponentially more difficult. Given her tiny range of Jutsu, this challenge would be near impossible.

She weighed her options. She couldn't attack first. She only had one offensive move, which would strain her too much in this climate. She didn't want to defend either. She knew, through her limited exposure to Yen when Orokana had tried to flee the village, that he was much stronger than her, therefore defending and avoiding would be nearly impossible. As for gathering intelligence, she could do that as she focused.

Ayame clicked to Nita, immediately setting up a substitution. Her hands moved through the hand signs smoothly; First tiger. Then boar, ox, dog, and snake.

Nita knew what Ayame was planning and stayed close enough to her for the substitution to stay valid, should it be needed.

Immediately following that, Ayame proceeded to transform into Nita, following the hand signs of dog, boar, and ram subsequently. As the puff of smoke took place allowing the transformation the two siamese dumbo rats had mixed up with each other.

After the smoke cleared, Nita stood upon her hind legs with Ayame following suit. Ayame then clicked to her rat, telling her what hand signs she needed to do, and Nita clicked back in response. Yen would not be able to understand these soft noises due to them being in rat language, and it is likely he would not be able to hear them well.

Both of the rats then put together hand signs at the same speed of 25. Only Ayame's would work, as Nita only mimicked them. Although rat only have four digits on their front paws, they do have a less-evolved fifth little nub that can act as a thumb. It makes hand signs more challenging but not impossible.

Ram, then snake, then tiger. The clone technique. Now there were four identical rats before Yensung, watching him to see what he was going to do as Ayame tried to put together some form of plan.

The strange clicking sounds wouldve made yen  look around if he was a shinobi much less wiser a nd perhaps not as experienced. Still he for the theratrics lookved around. Even though his experienced hearing said it came from both the girl and her pet. 

Yen looked around for a second in a convincingly confused manner as he would not do anything. No chakra build up. No handsigns. Not a thing at all. In fact yen would return to sitting down as soon as he spotted the four mice.

Soo what are you going to do ayame? Lets see how you handle yourself.

Yen thought as her chakra was still high enough to be sensed. But miniscule compared to his own.

Ayame cocked her head, activating her Yureigan out of sheer curiosity. Unless Yen was holding one of the rats to his face, he would not have noticed their dark cinnamon eyes' pupils expanding beyond their already dark iris.

Holy shit everything was dark. No grass, no trees... Well no shit there wasn't anything living that was readable to her at the moment, well besides Nita and a snake that was asleep under the sand in the hot sun. Its aura was weak, soft blue, which meant it was at peace and not a real threat.

Changing her norm may have caused a slight burst of chakra, lasting extremely short time, just long enough for her to switch homeostasis to an alternate form.

Ayame released the clones she had created. She and Nita intertwined before circling the boy at a distance of about 10 meters radius. Should he try to attack either of the pair, Ayame would dash at 25 speed in order to either attack him or enact the substitution Jutsu. If she needed to use the substitution she had set up, she would return to human form upon enactment.

Ayame noticed something strange going on with Yen's form. To her, he looked like everything else... like a detailed chalkboard drawing in motion, however, it seemed like his person was slightly lighter than the background. This was likely due to the evolution of her Yureigan technique, slowly.

If Yen had chosen to simply ignore the pair, they would, in turn, focus on the environment instead. They wouldn't drop their guard, though.

Now the mice began circling yen, so what was best move for yen? It was simple actualyh. He continued to watch each mouse that passed in front of him calm and cool as a cucumber. Allowing the girl to in some way or form continue to focus on him and draw her concentration fully on him. In fact yen merely yawned and stretched his neck  by rolling it and remained seated. Then he rolled his shoulders and brushed some sand off his cloak that managed to get on it.  

Keeping the girl wondering while he sat there  keeping the girl on her guard. These seemingly simple motions  were all meant to draw her attention. All the while he simply sat there neither being hostile nor even defending himself. 

It was simply because why did he need to exert himself while his opponent is  currently trying to create an opening. He was all but willing to allow a first shot to come through. He had more then enough to tank most damage and a ny he would take he can heal with ease. Secondly an genjutsu power truely comes in effect while a person is already preoccupied. Not before a person truely acts. 

Then the girl consitently utilize her chakra. Was why yen did not need to act. The eviorment would take care of half the work before he needed to do anything. 

"It is good you are consitently moving. Keep it up and you may get faster."

Yen simply spoke lazily as he remained reletively casual. Yen even decided to pick up the sand at his feet and give it a feel.
