Raider Alert

mission details:

Komon awoke to a knock on his door early in the morning. It was strange for one to have visitors at this hour so his byakugan instinctively checked the chakra network standing in front of his door while he still laid in his bed. Ever since the event of mothers death he had been all to aware of threats, the chakra however didn’t seem to strong, not much of a shinobi, probably fresh out of the academy in all honesty. So Komon rose out of bed and made his way to the door.

It took him a couple of seconds to get dressed and to make his way down the stairs and in that time the unknown person showed themselves to be rather impatient, knocking three more times in the span of the minute it may have taken him to reach the door. “ALRIGHT ALRIGHT IM COMING” He’d say opening the door to see a fresh faced gennin with no dirt on his uniform. The kid had probably never even been in combat. “I assume I’ve been summoned for a mission?” Komon would say stretching out his hand for the inevitable envelope that would contain his mission details.

The gennin would nod saying “You are to report at the north gate in 15 minutes your partner will be waiting for you” before turning around and getting back to his job that Komon only had to assume was to deliver more mission details. “Thanks” He’d say as the kid ran off without saying anything else.

“Guess I should start getting ready” Komon thought as he grabbed invictus and the rest of his ninja tools on the way out, before entering the streets of kumogakure, it was still very early and not many people were up so he had the streets mostly to himself, when he got to the front gate he had about five minutes to spare and saw a figure he almost instantly recognized, a faint smile crossed his face. At least he would be working with someone he knew.

Senshi stood arms crossed, back ram rod straight and his eyes shifting around looking for any threats. He was watching the gate as several trading caravans and others came in, the gate guards being utterly professional with everyone they met. He didn’t envy them their duty, since he knew just how boring it was. Being as he himself had pulled the duty twice now, it wasn’t nearly as bad as mission office duty however. Nothing could be as bad as that one. Nope. But now he had a summons to head out of the village on yet another C rank, apparently he was one of the most experienced Chuunin in the village. Something that he himself found rather surprising, considering that he had not been a Chuunin for all that long.
 
He had been given a very strict briefing from a Jounin when he had received the mission. He was pleased that Komon had been promoted, but he didn’t exactly feel comfortable having to evaluate him. They were both the same rank and it seemed odd to the boy, almost man, that he would be tasked with this. Then again he had taken Komon, Komori, and Hitori on their first ever C rank as well. So he guessed it kind of made sense, since he was the one who had submitted the report on Komon’s actions and suggested that he receive some more leadership experience before being sent to lead a team of Genin in a C rank.
 
Looks like being honest in his report had come back around to bite him in the ass. Senshi let loose a sigh but before he could get annoyed that Komon might be late his chakra sensory picked up the other boys signature. He turned his eyes unerringly towards where the boy was and watched as he slowly approached, looking to have just gotten out of bed. Not at all like Senshi who had been up since four am, completing his own training session already. Senshi waited till the newly promoted Chuunin had walked up to him before extending his hand, in order to give Komon a congratulatory handshake.
 
Should the boy accept Senshi would give him a firm grip and a quick shake before letting go, should he not accept the hand shake Senshi would stare at him awkwardly for several moments before finally lowering his hand. As they either shook or didn’t Senshi spoke, “Congratulations Komon on your promotion to Chuunin, it was well earned.” Senshi then gave an awkward look before continuing, “I’m sure you have read the mission details, but I need to inform you of some other things. I have been tasked to evaluate your leadership in the field, so that you can take command of a Genin team. You will be in charge, you will be making the plans for this mission. Once we get back we will both submit reports on the mission and then you will be granted Team Purple.”
 

Senshi gave a slightly awkward shrug, not sure how the other boy would take to being evaluated by a peer. Senshi only hoped that he wouldn’t be annoyed with him, since he didn’t exactly want to be in this position either. He also hoped that the bonds he had built with Komon would prevent the boy from getting annoyed with him. Not shoot the messenger so to speak.

Komon was a bit surprised Senshi was already aware he was chuunin, he hadn’t actually gotten the chance to tell anyone and happily accepted the man’s handshake, “Thanks Senshi” He’d say with kindness in his voice. Before listening to what the other chuunin had to say. Komon let a small sigh as he heard he was once more being tested, he thought by now youka would have been assured of his abilities. But then he remembered how his first mission had gone and how it had almost ended in disaster and realized it probably made sense.

With that he would say “Alright, let's do this” Taking a confident tone, before pulling out the mission details, so I sorta briefed myself on the way here, I assume you have as well, you’re a pretty efficient guy. So we got a bit of traveling to do… Tanpa is a good while away. I say it would make much more sense to travel by sky, It will leave our bodies well rested for the mission and make it much harder to get ambushed along the way. We can land once we get within range of the village so as not to give away our position.” Komon would say as he began to scribble on his shinobi painter set before releasing two birds from the page, “Take your pick” senshi would hear as Komon gestured with both arms towards the 12 foot tall birds.

Senshi was pleased that Komon had accepted his handshake so readily and he even seemed surprised that Senshi knew he had been promoted. Then again a new Chuunin travelled fast throughout the village’s Chuunin since it was a pretty hard process to go through. Plus Senshi had been briefed by a Jounin, so he kind of had a leg up on the other boy. As Senshi let go of Komon’s hand and the boy began speaking Senshi nodded along. As Komon began to draw on a scroll Senshi watched with intent interest, he had not known the other boy was an artist. Before the birds had appeared he quickly spoke, he didn’t want Komon to fail this test after all.
 
“I have briefed myself, but let us assume that I have not. If I were a Genin, how would you brief me about the mission? Feel free to assume that I have a decent level of competence and common sense and have been on several missions.” Senshi didn’t want the boy to think he had to treat him like some fresh out of the academy baby Genin, or like his brother Komori. Hopefully that boy had started to mature a bit since he had put them in considerable danger in their last mission together. Well put Hitori in danger, weak grave robbers really didn’t stand a chance against a competent Genin after all. Once the birds had appeared Senshi gave both a weird look before jumping and landing lightly on the left most one. He would remain standing, mainly due to being unsure what this technique or skill was.
 
“Komon what is this skill or technique? I’ve never seen it before, though it seems slightly familiar for some reason?” Any chance to learn was something that he would jump at after all, and this seemed to be a rather useful technique overall. Especially, as Komon had already said, since it would allow them to relax on their way towards the borders of Kumogakure. It would have been a long and rather tiring run if they hadn’t of had this unique and rather useful ability that Komon possessed. Once the birds took flight on Komon's command Senshi would wobble unsteadily for a moment before crouching and watching as the ground below them bled away.
 
His hazel eyes would watch the village disappear into nothingness rather quickly. He had never been so high before, but he wasn’t afraid of the height only amazed at the view it gave them. This really was possibly the most incredibly, useful skill he had ever encountered. The ability to sneak up on an opponent from the sky was invaluable. Senshi ensured his chakra was suppressed, as it almost always was now a days. No point in giving themselves away after all, he wasn’t Hozuki Komori.

---------------EXIT TO VILLAGE BORDERS/BORDERS OF KUMOGAKURE-------------

Komon understood where senshi was coming from and supposed it made sense so he went through the process as if he was talking to hitori. “Alright ‘Gennin’ Kobayashi Senshi” Komon would say putting an emphasis on the gennin before continuing. “There's a small town called Tanpa a good distance away from us, that is contractually under Kumogakure protection, they are small and don't have their own supply of shinobi so they have sent word to our village for help. They’ve been having problems with bandits recently that seem to be encamped outside there village, our goal is essentially to… Well wipe them out” Komon felt uncomfortable saying that last part, he wasn’t particularly fond of killing, in fact he liked to avoid it if at all possible, but a mission was a mission and he had to carry it out.

He watched as senshi hopped onto the left bird and quickly followed his lead climbing onto the back of his white and black drawing. Looking over to senshi he was surprised to see the chuunin have a somewhat enthusiastic view of the jutsu, he laughed as the two took off ascending into the sky. “It’s called super beast scroll, A jounin taught it to me, basically I can bring drawings to life, the possibilities are pretty much endless with it but it takes a lot of practice to get a specific drawing down. Speaking of which, make sure your bird stays within 40 meters of mine, it seems to be my maximum range of control at the moment.” Komon would say warning the chuunin in an effort to keep him from falling to his death.

With that he would bend his back forward laying flatter against his bird, giving himself less wind resistance before activating his byakugan to suppress his chakra, noticing that senshi had already done so.
