Coastin' with the Motion of the Ocean (P, Nk)
Wed Mar 01, 2017 1:46 am
You know, she really missed the good old days in Shimagakure. For all she complained about the sand and the unbearable heat, there was something charming about the place. Now, everything was so tense and serious and dull. The place had lost its charm since the Mizukage had taken over. It was this line of thought that lead Rakka, mid alchohol-fueled training session, to do what might have been the craziest shit she’d pulled since her time in Yukigakure.
Bottle of whiskey in hand, the hot-blooded Yuki created an ice mirror and carried it under her arm, surfer style, to the beach by her house. Not many people went to the beaches anymore. The water ran red too often to enjoy. But today, the ocean was clear, and Rakka could have a good time. Dropping her makeshift surfboard into the ice, she was pleased to see it floated, as ice tends to do. Stepping upon it, she wondered how to propel herself forwards. Oh, right. Yeah.
Easy.
A huge fireball flew away as Rakka spewed flames from her mouth like the sick MC that she was, the backwards momentum propelling her ice mirror onto the waves. Rakka held her balance as she rode along the waves, laughing with glee and breathing fire into the water, leaving a trail of steam in her wake. This was the life.

Hanabi walked along the shoreline, enjoying the breeze. She liked to take walks through the sand at this time of day. It was so quiet and peaceful. There were rarely other people, which was an added bonus. Lately it seemed everyone she met had a fondness for eccentricity, and sometimes it tired her out. The girl brushed back her now windswept lavender bangs, noticing another woman on the beach. She was making a beeline for the water, though, so it seems they wouldn't actually meet. Hanabi let her focus drift again and returned to her reveries. She closed her eyes, just listening to the water run back and forth across the sand.
She reflected that it was surprisingly warm for this time of day, especially with the breeze to cool things down. No, actually it was downright hot. Uncomfortably so. And what was that sound? She opened her eyes to see a giant fireball hurtling through the air. She let out an involuntary scream and dove into the ground. Thankfully the blast hadn't actually been aimed at her, or she would probably be dead right now. She might've wondered why someone was spewing fireballs onto the beach, but she didn't quite have the presence of mind for that at the moment. Instead, she was just glad that all that had come out of it was a bit of fire on her sleeve. Fire on her sleeve? The young woman quickly rolled down the remainder of the shore, splashing into the cold water. She lifted herself to her hands and knees, coughing and sputtering.

Running her hand against the crest of the wave, Rakka laughed as she ran against the wave, not even noticing as she began to lose her balance, plummeting into the sea. The waves pushed her ashore rather violently, face down in the sand, and completely soaked. Picking herself up slowly, she giggled as she wiped the sand from her face, only now noticing the carnage she’d left in her wake. Several large, smouldering craters in the sand littered the beach. She smirked.
”Ah, shit, where’d the mirror go?” She asked suddenly, catching sight of the thing being carried away into the sea. Sighing, she sat up, brushing herself off, before noticing that she was quite close to a girl of about her age. How she hadn’t noticed her coughing and sputtering was a mystery. ”Oh my god, are you okay?!” She asked, mortified. ”I didn’t think anybody was here!”

Hanabi crawled back onto land after she regained her breath and dropped into a seated position. "Well, I'm not on fire anymore." She hadn't noticed where the equally wet woman had come from, but based on her words she was the cause of the wanton destruction. The lavender haired girl took to removing her sleeves, one by one. Soaked through, covered in sand, and one half burned off, she opted to go without them for the time being. After wringing them out she bundled them into a ball and stuffed them into her pocket for later, not wanting to litter. She turned her arm in front of her, inspecting the damage. There were some burns, in an odd state of pain and relief from the salt and the cool of the ocean, respectively. Thankfully it was nothing major, and after performing the appropriate hand seals she quickly applied medical jutsu to the burns with her free hand. "No harm done." She said, brushing sand out of her hair.

Rakka simply sat there in horror, not at all concerned with how soaked she was.
"I'm so sorry, I should have looked where I was, uh, firing." She said, giggling a little at the last word. "Oh shit, did I actually burn you?" She asked, her mood whiplashing once again to one of absolute horror. Shuffling closer, she inspected the burns, her face far whiter than usual. "Shit. At least they're not that bad." She said, sighing in relief and falling back in the sand. "I can buy some new clothes for you, if you want. It's my fault they're ruined..." She
offered apologetically, beginning to wipe some of the sand off of her own clothing.

She's certainly...expressive Hanabi thought. Not unkindly, she had just never really known anyone who wasn't on the reserved side. She got to her feet and offered a hand up to the other woman. "Well, um, alright." The Genin answered, a bit taken aback. She'd never been shopping with anyone but her mother before, going with a stranger felt strange. Not to mention one that had just set her on fire. But that sweet mission money had yet to start rolling in, and she was strapped for ryo. Consequently, she wasn't about to turn down the offer. "My name is Hanabi, by the way."
