Training Day

”I can promise no more harm shall befall the trees of this village.” By my hand anyway, I’d rather not have to cut them up and deliver them again. The girl would say with a smile making an X over her heart. The girl would immediately notice the stance Ashi had created, it was good too good for someone who was not an expert in taijutsu. This is going to be interesting.

With the first move given to Kirino, it was hard to figure out what to try first, but seeing as her hand was already by her spine it was an easy choice. The sound of joints cracking could be heard all along the girls body even though she had yet to move. There we go that loosened me up a bit, now… The vertebrae of Kirino would protrude from her back slightly allowing the girl to pull on it, unleashing the full length of her spine which was now held within her hand. She lashed it twice against the dirt creating whip crack noises.



Kirino would then lash out once more with the whip, aiming for Ashi’s right leg. If the girl managed to snag the body part she would pull hard, compromising the other ninja’s footing while moving in for some regular non-Kaguya style combat. Well… Maybe some Kaguya style depending on what happened.

If there was one sound Ashi hated above all other it had to be the sicken crack of bones. Operative Parrot made a point of cracking his back right in front of the Inuzuka whenever possible. He was nice like that. Thus, Ashi could only wince at what had to be the loudest back crack she'd ever heard each time her opponent cracked the bone whip. Ah yes, Kaguya use their own bones, how could she have forgotten? Truthfully, the sight was a rather gruesome one to behold and Ashi was pleased she didn't have experience day in and day out. What some clans had to go through to gain power was a bit more than strange.

Perhaps she should've seen what was coming next. The bone whip lashed out a third time and right for her leg. Normally, she had Chairomaru to guard against such lapses in attention, but he wasn't here today and it showed. The whip wrapped around her leg just below the knee with a loud crack. The sharp sting of the vertebrae was all the woman felt before her whole world tilted backward.

Now, taking a hit is a hard reality many fighters fail to understand. When you enter combat you have to accept that you will probably get hurt. The trick became how to minimize such damage. In this case, it required Ashi to not break her fall with her hands. A former anbu trainee had made such a mistake and broken his wrist. Yes, there is an art to taking a hit, which was all Ashi could remember she found herself on her back in the grass.

For many shinobi Kirino's attack would have been a spar ender. Too often the aggressor could set the tempo and dictate how the fight would go. To get it back the one on the back foot, or back as the case may be, had to break the tempo and set their own pace. Ashi tried to break the tempo by pulling back with her right leg as she tried to prop herself up with her arms. Hopefully, the sudden jolt would serve to break the whip from Kirino's grasp and allow the anbu an opening.

The attack had worked, the whip had wrapped around the Inuuka’s leg causing the woman to fall over. She is going to make this easy… Thinking that the Kaguya was brought forward with the woman pulling the whip back trying to wrestle the bone whip from the girl’s hand. As the Kaguya went forward she would drop the whip and begin to roll forward hardening her bones during the roll.

If Kirino managed to roll near or otherwise get close to the Inuzuka, she would send a kick low, so that the appendage couldn’t be caught between the elbow and knee. The genin had experience with that her arm had been broken previously in that manner, so it was best to avoid the limb trap of doom.


I wonder, if I should start spitting out my teeth at her. No, I can’t get those back as easily as bones. So, it is best to save them for later. The Kaguya would look on the ground for her whip if it was close she may try to get it later, if it was far well she had a new spine now. (I’ll let you decide where the whip is.)

With the weight of Kirino no longer acting as an anchor, Ashi's leg shot back bringing the whip with it. No longer tethered together by the tension the whip flew backward and over the Inuzuka's head landing some five meters back. However, instead of stopping her momentum backward, she rocked with it and into an improvised backward handspring.

Pivoting off her strong arms she brought her legs and body upwards as Kirino came forwards such that as the Kaguya kicked low, Ashi's feet went high. If all went as planned Ashi's opponent's low kick would not find its mark as the Inuzuka had changed the orientation of her body. Not only that but Ashi's feet would also hopefully catch Kirino right under the chin as the anbu's legs swung upwards. The hit would probably not be enough to hurt the girl, but rather be just enough to knock her for a loop and give time for Ashi to complete her handspring only to drop into the same boxing stance she had used before.

Assuming the girl did not stop the older woman's maneuver, the two would be standing about a meter from each other. The real fight started now after both combatants had, hopefully, taken a hit. In the end, a battle between two skilled taijutsu practitioners could only end in one way: a meeting of the fists and clashing of wills.

Kirino’s eyes caught the movement, but she didn’t have the skills to stop it completely. So, instead she would do the second-best thing and defend without moving. As the first kick was sent, the Kaguya would create a second layer of bone under her skin. She would chuckle lightly, as if the kick was more pleasing than it had been painful. Good moves, I can learn a lot today. The girl would think while having a secondary thought cross her mind.

Ashi would be in her stance already, as Kirino spoke. ”Care if we pick up the pace a little bit?” The girl would give a short smile. If Ashi gave permission then the girls skin would darken turning brown from the curse mark and with golden eyes, she would move in now stronger and faster. The girl would kick low again, this time with more of a sweeping motion to trip the other ninja.


If the attempt were to succeed the girl would let her opponent right herself and hopefully carry on with the fight. Had this been against a real opponent the girl would not have hesitated to jump on the girl and smack her around. This was a spar however and there was no need for such brutality in the current circumstances.
