Komori & Reizo vs The Two Tails

Reizo started his advance toward the now wildly burning cat, but was cut short when it expelled a cone of fire in his direction. Tch... that's annoying, the blonde thought, realizing he wouldn't be able to change his direction to avoid it in time. He hated to do it, but he needed to bail himself out with the body flicker. As he turned away, he saw Komori incoming with his hand outstretched. The Chuunin couldn't help but chuckle at his friend's light-heartedness at the imminent danger before them. He was glad Komori managed to escape the previous attack, and he seemed to have the momentum going to avoid the incoming one. Reizo returned Komori's high five and then immediately made the Ram hand sign (195 speed) to body flicker toward the direction Komori had just come from (265 speed).

He didn't go all that far; he went 15 meters before deactivating the body flicker and continuing to run at his normal max speed (195) so that he could turn in a fairly wide arc to turn around to attack the cat. It was then that Reizo realized that the high five was more than just a gesture- it put a barrier around him that could potentially change the tide of the battle. With this... I might be able to... Reizo thought to himself, flexing his right hand into a fist and turning his attention to the cat.

Approaching the fiery beast from now 30 meters out, winding around the cone of fire so that he would approach the cat from its left, still at 195 speed, Reizo readied himself for the attack. He didn't think it would do much, but in an attempt to make his approach less obvious, Reizo performed the hand signs necessary for the Clone Technique (195 speed) to create 2 illusionary clones of himself, both to his left about 3 meters from one another(the cat's right).  Reizo and his clones, zig zagged a bit to try to throw off the cat's senses so it couldn't immediately discern the real Reizo, and about 10 meters out they all went for a straight forward attack, after resuming their original order. Reizo himself would aim for the lower half of the cat's torso, by its hind legs (all 195 speed) while the other two seemed to go for its upper torso and head respectively. Reizo figured him and Komori would have to end this quick, as the fire would prove to be more and more dangerous the fewer resources they had to combat it. Reizo and his clones are now 5 meters away each from the cat, all ready to attack.

Matatabi’s prey crossed paths amidst her flames, and she saw each one dart to one side or the other. Well, she saw one of them do that. The other vanished from view for a moment, and Matatabi practically purred with satisfaction. Then, she saw him emerge, winding around the cone of fire she was currently spitting. Once again, if she could have shrugged, she would have. Inhaling, ceasing her cone of flames, she roared as her enemy approached, her battle aura appearing to spike once more with power. As he approached, she saw a blade being thrown towards her. She did not even bother to stop it. As Reizo and his clones neared her, and the blade neared its target, Matatabi would unleash a torrent of flames from her body, roaring madly as her battle aura intensified with the flames.

The azure blaze would be unleashed in a dome shape around Matatabi, traveling the full 50 meters range in every direction, easily melting the blade that was careening towards her, as well as likely reducing the two to ash, should they be trapped inside the flames.

Reizo continued his dash. Just as he was closing in on the tailed beast, he noticed Komori form the familiar hand signs for the shadow clone technique. "Don't you dare try to stop me Komori, this may be our only chance! Have some faith in your barrier!" Reizo called out telepathically, hoping to dissuade his comrade from interfering with his assault. Less than 5 meters out now, the creature roared and the flames suddenly grew more intense. Reizo's eyes shone with excitement. The flames were brilliant and intense, he couldn't stand to look directly into them much longer, but he had to persist. As he had told Komori, this could very well be their lone opportunity to attack. The beast surely thought it would reduce the Chuunin to ash, but Reizo had faith in Komori's barrier and more importantly, he had faith in Maku's cloak and his own False Skin jutsu. With its water base, it would insulate him from the flames just enough (85 damage reduction from Komori's barrier, 100 full body armor health +20 for being water vs fire from False Skin; Cloak and gloves are 100 health + 50) to withstand the stationary attack.

Reizo ran through the fire and flames (195 speed), now 2 meters from the beast just as the fire hit him, its extraordinary heat felt like his skin would melt, even with all of his defensive precautions. The fact that he could feel his skin at all was a great sign that they were working. Although he could no longer see the beast as he was completely enveloped in the flames, Reizo unleashed his most devastating and fastest attack (255 speed, 180 strength). Launching his leading leg upward (his right leg), Reizo threw himself into the air with the amount of force he had put behind the kick, but only enough so that he could be less than a meter directly above the beast, to eliminate any chance of escape. A vortex of wind and fire (120 power) surrounded the beast. The flames created somewhat of a fiery tornado within the sphere of blue flame, dismissing the fire in the vortex and leaving the area where the beast and Reizo were completely open and empty of fire.

The blonde Chuunin recalled the last time he had used this technique, vs. Maku. It had failed that time because of the Susanoo's strength and size. He expected similar results this time around too, so he wasted no time with the follow up. Back then, he should've just continued the motion and looked to try to break the chakra skeleton instead of relying on the vortex to restrict it and Maku's movement. This time, he would do just that. Finishing his full body rotation from launching his right leg skyward, Reizo would immediately follow up by slamming his right leg down onto the beast's spine from above, which would surely shatter its spine if not outright bifurcate it (255 speed, 180 strength). The attack was far too fast for any normal creature to react to, let alone follow and avoid, and even with Jungle Cat, it didn't seem as though the beast had yet to demonstrate the speed to escape, at least in the eyes of the Chuunin.

Should this go as planned, the two-tailed demon cat would be defeated, with Reizo suffering some mild and some severe burns and his cloak and gloves practically in tatters.

There was an insect upon Matatabi. Like an annoying mosquito, it seemed she just could not swat it. Like a cockroach, it simply refused to die. It was moving so fast, she could barely keep up. She, an apex predator, could hardly keep her eyes upon the annoying insect that approached her. As it drew nearer, Matatabi attempted to turn and swat at it with her claws, but it was too fast. She felt a blow to her back, and before she knew it, the Jungle Cat was lying unconscious upon the scorched earth. The flames that stretched across her body faded as the cat lay there in a forcefully-induced slumber that somehow almost looked peaceful.

Although the flames across her body faded, what was left of her final attack remained. The residual flames covered the earth for fifty meters in all directions from Matatabi. A parting gift from the two-tailed beast, lulled into sleep by a blow to her spine. Her tails lulled to the ground, her form limp, lying harmlessly in the flames of her own creation. It was fortunate she was strong enough to survive this, at least. Curiously, Reizo’s killing blow seemed to have no effect on the beast, who was made entirely of chakra. She wasn’t injured in the slightest, merely reduced to unconsciousness.

Regardless, the tale of the two-tailed Matatabi’s freedom seemed to end here, for now. A shame she couldn’t have had more time. It felt as if these damned humans felt it was their god-given right to imprison her and her siblings. Some day, she knew, she’d be free again, just as she had been freed before. Next time, she would remember not to play with her food.

Reizo nearly collapsed to the ground from the tremendous impact to the demon cat. He found it odd that there was no apparent damage to the cat, but Reizo could discern that he had knocked it into a deep coma. He was a bit surprised that the cat's body could withstand such a powerful attack, and so he examined the fallen body as the fire continued to rage around him, his watery protection keeping him cool and unharmed in the midst of hell.

He didn't see any visible injuries, making it hard for the blonde medic to tell exactly what caused the cat to fall unconscious. Obviously it was the impact, but with no external damage, there had to be something more to this creature than met the eye. Opening his Mind's Eye, Reizo examined the beast's chakra system more closely, and he nearly yelled with excitement. It was a being made entirely of chakra! He had never seen one before... he'd heard of familiars having similar properties, but those jutsu had been lost in the days of yore. This was far bigger than any familiar likely would've been anyway, which left only one conclusion: it was actually a weapon; a bjuu!

What a magnificent creature. It's no wonder that it took out such a large chunk of our armies. If only there were a way to study it further... It's too big and heavy, even for me to carry it, Reizo thought to himself, sighing in disbelief as he'd have no way of actually observing it further. For now, he would sit upon the toppled creature. He expected Komori to make his way through the fire eventually, and the blonde Chuunin refused to just leave the cat alone, and so he would wait. He didn't even want to telepathically communicate to Komori. He wanted Komori to see him in all his triumphant, smug, glory.

It wouldn't be a terribly long wait before Reizo's Mind's Eye picked up the water dragon that Komori had launched in his direction. Hmm, I was kinda hoping he'd try something faster. There's no way the cat would get hit by that, Reizo chided, still not telepathically saying anything to Komori.

As Reizo was still in a somewhat cautious state, he hadn't yet deactivated his speed tattoo, which made avoiding the dragon trivial. He simply got up and ran along the length of the cat and out of the dragon's trajectory (97 speed). He didn't want to injure the bjuu further, so he considered blocking it for a moment, but then figured it wasn't in any real danger anyway. If his own kick hadn't been enough to cause visible damage, Komori's jutsu would feel like a cool shower.

The water dragon cleared a clean path from Komori straight to Reizo and the cat, but in its wake it left a thick cloud of fog that was entirely opaque. Reizo sat back atop his trophy once the jutsu subsided, and proceeded to wait for his friend to come to him through the mist. "Be careful where you aim that! You might wake it. Think there's anyway for us to take this thing back with us? It's way too heavy to carry, and I wouldn't want to do it such disservice as to drag it," Reizo finally called out to Komori telepathically. The blonde was sitting with his right leg tucked underneath his left, leaning back slightly on both hands. His armor and gloves were mostly charred away, but his flak vest and most of his t-shirt were ok. Certainly not something he would wear again, but he wasn't bare chested by any means.

Komori would notice how utterly badass Reizo looked with his burns and tattered armor that showed how he had come face to face with incineration and survived. He then finished jogging and approached his comrade, charred sword in hand. "Well,” he said, slightly out of breath, “That was fun.” The rain persisted, making sure that every bit of blue fire would be extinguished. At least any remaining flames that had not been put out by his water dragon bullet technique. What else was there to do? They could seal it. Although there was an underlying tone. Almost as if Maku wanted something else to happen instead. “So,” Komori said to begin a conversation with his buddy. “Who gets to have that… thing sealed inside of him?” It was more of a rhetorical question, although neither of them possessed the fire element just yet. This was a tailed beast of legend. It had slaughtered their entire camp of soldiers. These beasts were powerful and deadly. And it was going to be bonded with one of the two chuunin. Komori looked over to Reizo. “Dibs.”

Reizo saw his friend Komori approaching. He seemed unharmed, he seemed somewhat exhausted. Reizo laughed internally at that: Komori had spent much of his time running and providing support while Reizo was doing the damage on the frontlines; you would think the blonde would be the tired one. He pondered Komori's question for the briefest of moments- less than a couple of seconds. Oh, so we're sealing it in one of us? was all he thought before immediately calling it, as was customary. "Dibs!" Reizo shouted, almost in the same breath as Komori did, but it was painfully obvious to both of them and anyone who could've been observing that Reizo was a split second earlier on his sacred call of binding. Reizo would have dibs.

"Well, that settles that debate. It's too heavy to carry though, and I think we'd attract far too much attention given its size. Should we just seal it now?" Reizo asked. He would've liked to show the prize to all of his Kumogakure friends, but it was just way too heavy and large to transport inconspicuously across country borders. They really didn't have much of a way of taking it with them. The fires would begin to simmer down, but until they were completely extinguished, Reizo kept his water skin active. Reizo also take note of Komori's chakra using his Mind's Eye technique, which he had yet to deactivate, just to be safe.
