Maku vs The Nine Tails

Welcome to your Bijuu Battle

Before we start, a few ground rules as always.

+Participants are given 48 hours to respond, Mods and NPCs however are given 72 hours.

+The possibility of death is very real and in fact, expected. You are fighting a bijuu after all.

+Once you post here, your stats and jutsu are locked in place. Anything not on your stat page will not be counted, same as the bijuu. Both parties should ensure all final edits to their stat pages are made before posting in this topic

+There are no get out of death free cards, if you die, you die. However the bijuu may not die. A death blow will result in the bijuu being knocked out and primed for sealing.

+If your NPC permits, you may edit your post once per post. Editing resets the 72 hour counter from time of edit.

+Regardless of how much coding skill you’d like to apply, each technique used must be listed at the bottom of your post along with appropriate AP deduction. If any party fails to list a tech, it does not go through

+Because this is a semi IC event, you may use the words from your battle towards stats/a technique you used or trained.

+Should a battle mod be required, one will be provided. It will not help your case to argue with the battle mod. You may make your point respectfully and then defer to the mod’s judgment.

+Should the first team/participant fail, the next team/participant will get their turn. A new topic will be made for the next fight. Should all bijuu hopefuls for a certain tailed beast fail, signups for that beast will open once more.

+Participants post first, IC investigating a natural oddity that has been occurring near their current IC location. The NPC-ed bijuu posts second with a complete stat page as well as their entrance post.

Let me set the scene for you. It's hot, there is a slight breeze, the sun has kissed the normally more let's say pale skin of the shinobi before you. Is he a shinobi though? That much could be up for debate at this time, other than his radiant chakra signature.

Maku stood behind a cart, shirt off, hair tied in a top knot to keep it from his face, his robes tied behind him. His mask left back in sunagakure, finding no reason to hide at this time. However, what one might find odd is the gaggle of gawkers before him. His hands moved at speeds no normal man would be able to keep up with, the knife in one hand and spoon in the other his instruments of culinary war. The slab of pork and menagerie of spices his unwitting foes, one could say he was a culinary comedian, as he left them cut up.

His laugh cackled out, the crowd still a little dumbfounded by what they were watching. People had talked about Takeo's food, and call him a show off but if they thought that was good he had to show them the error of their ways. It was early morning when he had started, and by the time he finished it was late afternoon. The last customer taking their plate and leaving with a smile and all be it confused expression. This was maku's greatest skill. The ability to cook, and seemingly at random open on the spot restaurants anywhere he found himself.

The air was starting to get cool when the last person left, his body still covered in a film of perspiration. His hair messy, but for the most part contained. Pulling down the curtain, he laid the knives down and tied up the sword at his waist. It was then that he felt it, perhaps it had been there this whole time but he was to lost in his culinary craft to notice. Wiping his brow he began to track further into the desert, following a feeling, a feeling of a forlorn and fleeting friend........

Kyuubi Stats:

No matter how you sliced it dying sucked.

For better or for worse, the Kyuubi felt every blow his vessel took his discomfort level rose and rose. However, when his vessel disappeared altogether he felt nothing. The man who had wielded the eight gates had seemingly evaporated from existence leaving nine tails to float through space and time for what felt like an eternity. It saw neither light nor dark, simply nothing save for a sea of gray. Then, all at once, the gray gave way to muted light, heat, and, worst of all, sand. Of all places the beast found itself back in the desert with not a soul around for at least five kilometers—this is what one would call rotten luck.

Whatever mystical force that had transported the beast did so in style. Sitting at the center of crater five meters deep and fifteen meters wide it appeared as if the Kyuubi had been hurled from the heavens themselves. All around the crater stood tall dunes of sand that blocked the Kyuubi from view unless a person was to reach the top of any one of them.

Of course, this obscured view was, in part, due to the beast having shrunk to a much more manageable size. Standing at two meters in height at the shoulder the bijuu was much less beast and more fluffy animal now. Its rusty red coat shone in the dying sun and each of its tails told of a being of unsurpassed power not that any assessment via chakra sensory would say that for since the beast had appeared its chakra remained cloaked. This was the nine tails of legend and it would not be brought to heel ever again.

Well, if it could find its way out of this god damned desert.

Stats:

Just like that the feeling vanished. It had been a fleeting one, yet it had for certain been there. So with no real direction Maku continued to wander into the desert. The dunes where high, but the wind was taking a break it seemed. The heat continued to bear down, though in a few hours he knew how chilled it would soon become.

Going over the rises and slopes he continued until the village was a gleam on the horizon, easily mistaken for a mirage to those that had lost their way. His left hand started to tap on the hilt of his sword, activating the ability. Music began to play, and he started to sing. Well this was one way to make people either take notice, or at the very least move.

His eyes swirled red, just to be cautious. It also gave him the added effect to cut through the heat waves and shifting sand to see anything of interest. He had a feeling as to what was out here, if so it should quickly become apparent. Just as he thought this and hit the crest of the next dune, he would look down and let out a gasp............."Cactus blossoms!" He would shout and slide down the sand to stand next to the cactus. He began to pluck the multi colored flowers, these would make a delicacy for his next cook out. His chakra flared as he had saw them in his excitement a beacon in the desert. He probably should have went one dune over for a better surprise.......

Bijuu, animals, plum pies, shinobi, and dirt.

No...no, that wasn't exactly right, something was missing.

Bijuu, animals, plum pies, shinobi, dirt, and Uchiha.

There, much better. The Kyuubi often went through this mental exercise on ordering the hierarchy of the world around it. Naturally, the bijuu ruled supreme over all else, but the other items on the list shifted around from time to time. Such an exercise helped to center the beast's thoughts and hone its intentions.

Alas, the creature's thoughts were interrupted by a distant song carried on the arid wind. The song went on for a while until it too was interrupted by a loud yell, something about cactus. All the while the nine tails remained stock-still with its chakra remaining suppressed. Perhaps it normally would have run towards the voice in hopes of an easy meal, but the Kyuubi knew this voice. In fact, he had spent some time conversing with the man attached to this voice, why was that man here?

Truthfully, yes, the man should have continued over the next dune. However, he did not and so the Kyuubi remained hidden. With a steep dune in the way, Maku and the beast were a good eighty meters away from each other. Indeed, as chance would have it, the Kyuubi did not even have to shift its body, for if Maku continued in the direction he was then he'd come face to face with his long lost fearsome friend.

Shame he hadn't continued walking, real shame.

Picking all the blossoms he placed one in his hair, and started hiking up the sandy dune. As he rose, he noticed further up there was yet another dune. Shrugging he continued on, still singing his song. As he made it to the top of the dune he looked into the crater........the sight below gave him quite the start. If the cactus blossom had given him a surprise the fox that sat below was even more surprising. He took off at a run, his feet hitting the burning sand rapidly attempting to reach the fox before it even noticed his approach....

The desert fox of course would notice and rush away, however it left behind the snake that it had held in its mouth. The poor creature was dead, but that was fine. Maku picked it up and stuffed it into one of the pockets in his robe. Snack meat was a delicacy, and this particular breed had a nutty flavor to it, could not pass that up.

The desert gave of course many bounties, so it was only natural that he continued his hunt for more exotic flavors. This entire process took the next half hour out of his day. In the end he had cactus blossoms, a rare desert flower, snake meat, and the bark of a withered tree that tasted remarkably like cinnamon. His bag was starting to get heavy at this point, yet there was still one more place he wanted to check.

Coming to the crest his red and black eyes dipped down to look at the beast below. The Kyuubi, Kurama, the nine tail, it had several names, but Maku had thought of it as a friend for the short amount of time he had know it. He had only used the genjutsu to take it away from the village, quickly releasing the beast. It was known he could use it, yet he had chosen not too. He had treated him with respect, or at least he had tried to.

"Did you loose weight?" He would ask the beast, the music still playing a soft tune, possibly jazz music. He would give a wave with his right hand and a smile. "Plum pies made you see the error of your ways". He would say with a small laugh.

The crunch of sand and drawing of breath was all the Kyuubi needed to tell the approach of its newest challenger. Even before the man began his ascent of the dune, the nine tails knew the time for stealth was over—there was no way around a confrontation. All around its body a red aura expanded and for the first time in a long time the full power of the bijuu asserted its dominance on the world around it.

A deep throaty laugh that seemed to come from everywhere filled the air in response to the man's words. Maku Jemuzu, the man who made demons laugh. Now there was a title. However, in this case, the genjutsu virtuoso was being laughed at, not with. It is always important to clarify such things.

"Very funny, child," most people were children when compared to a bijuu. "Now begone, I have no interest in ripping you to shreds at the moment. So count yourself lucky and cut your losses."

The bijuu glowered up at Maku with the eyes of a beast unafraid of man. Maku now had a choice to make. Would he prove himself to be a man possessed by a desire for power and attack a supposed friend? Or would he show himself to be an honorable shinobi, if there is such a thing, and allow the beast to go in peace? Was the man's respect for the beast simply a lie?

"Please," a weariness entered the beast's voice. "Leave me be."

He mostly stayed oblivious to the laughters implications of being at as opposed to with him. What began to catch his eyes was the increase in the beasts levels. He had not really expected this level of animosity this quickly, especially when he had done nothing really to the beast.

"Please don't posture, it doesn't help with anything. I can go higher anyway." He would say nonchalantly. He would take a couple steps down the dune before sitting backwards, still looking at the beast. He had the high ground but not by that much. He could feel the animosity yet, he didn't totally understand it.

"What happened after you got kidnapped?" He would ask. Basically ignoring the comment about leaving. Though he has also not made any signs of aggression either. He was interested in what the beast had to say, what had happened. "I'm sorry about that...........I tried to stop it, but well.....I lost." He would say. Not necessarily sadly, but the remorse was clear in his voice. He'd tried to protect the beast, it just hadn't worked out. He would remove his hand, and untie his sword letting it fall. The music dying off and the sword rolling just out of reach, it wasn't needed here.

"Die!"

The beast's voice hissed out like steam out of a kettle only a thousand times more malevolent cutting off Maku prematurely as it gazed at the man's chest not bothering to look scum in the eye. Once Maku decided to speak, the Kyuubi knew he would not leave, so it acted accordingly. After all, who was this man to not obey a bijuu; to not obey his superior? No really, who was he? The beast honestly couldn't remember.

Whatever familiarity the two beings once had evaporated when the Bijuu cut off the man after the word, 'please', with its defiant hiss. Along with the command to die came a flare of the creature's tails into nine orange lasers that lanced forward at the man atop the dune who dared not listen to his betters. Three lasers were aimed directly at the man set to hit him directly in the torso, two at the crest of the dune three meters to his left, two to crest three meters to his right, one a meter directly below him and one a meter directly above him.

The result of such a dominant display? Well, the dune, along with man atop it, would hopefully be erased from the world in a sea of fiery explosions. The man's death would serve as an example to all others that may stand against the Kyuubi: all that awaited them was an eternity of being dust in the wind and nothing more.

For the record, I said don't posture. He would think in his head. Being cut off his eyes watched the flow of chakra starting to form. His tails twitching and turning. His hands clapped together as he saw this movement beginning thanks to his motion prediction. As his hand formed the seal his body exploded with chakra. Or was it just a plain old explosion? Either way, he was bringing the boom.

The explosion tore off his body eradicating any attack the beast would have hoped to unleash. It ideally would also do a number on the beast as well. He doubted it would kill him, after all he was a creature of legend, it'd be lame to die that easily. Thanks to the high ground the explosion would double as engulfing the beast, as well as pressing it into the ground crunching it against the force of the explosion.

As the explosion came to a head, Maku's own form would vanish. In his place, a golden behemoth stood. Vowel resembling a lions head, it's fists covered in lions open mass. It's form appeared standing on one foot, its left raised. As soon as it formed a giant foot came crashing down where the beast could be easily sensed. The susanoo stomping its shortened form into the dirt. Maku would look down from the jewel on the susanoo' form sensing out the creature, to see if it still had any fight left in it. Well, the creature had made the first move.
