Sakana and Komorgi become mailmen (P)
Wed May 31, 2017 11:28 pm
Sakana woke up the day after his turtle excursion. He now could call on ninja turtles to aid him in battle whenever he needs, so that was kinda cool. But today was the day before his first chuunin exam, he did not want to over train right before the exams in case he accidentally hurt himself or something of that nature, instead of staying in his dog bed on the floor, Komorgi, the puppy he stole from Komori, was sitting on Sakana's bed and started licking the Meijin's face. All the boy could do was laugh, partaking in the puppies excitement.
Since the day before the gennin was too busy to take Komorgi on a walk, he would take him today. Little dogs need lots of exercise after all. As Sakana started to fasten Komorgi in his purple harness and leash he makes fun of Komori in his head, only he would choose a purple outfit for a boy dog.
Accompanied by his dog, Sakana walked out the door and turned to check his mailbox. To his surprise it was empty, that never happened. The mailman Dale had dropped off the mail to his house day after day at the approximately 7 o' clock in the morning. It was really odd that the mail wasn't here. Even though Sakana never really cared about his mail, since all he got was flyers for food to buy in the market, or jobs no one ever wanted down my the rot fields. Those guys weren't so bad though, The Meijin had been down there before, while they may look gruesome, they are harmless if you are a citizen of the village. Their life mission is to protect the village, and there's
honor in that. So instead of just going back inside Sakana decided it was investigation
time. Putting Komorgi on his leash, Sakana headed out the door to try and
arrive at the mail center to see what was up.
Traveling with a dog was always great, Komorgi loved to go on long walks. He was always behaved, and never tried to attack anyone, he was pretty much a harmless fluff ball. Everyone loved him, kids tried to pet him, adults offered to buy him, and one creepy guy even tried to steal him. None of that mattered to the little dog as he strutted down the street with pride, not a care in the world.
The village mail center was huge, since it also doubled as one of the major shipping ports of the city. It was the location of many imports and exports, it was especially busy lately with all of the resources ebing spread around the new kumo empire. Just before he walked inside Dale came out of the building, running like something was wrong. The Meijin stopped in front of him.
“Dale are you ok? What’s up with the mail today?”
Dale stopped dead in his tracks, breathing heavily.
“Oh… Hey… Sakana… I woke up late today, and now the people won’t get their mail on time. Hey I went to the mission center and placed my job for ninja help, If you want the job is yours. Oh and cute dog by the way.”
Sakana didn’t even have to think about the offer, Dale had never once missed a mail day ever since he started working there and he was not about to start now. The gennin accepted the mission and Dale have him all of the letters that needed to be delivered in the Meijin’s district of town. Happy to help, the boy started tugging on Komorgi’s leash to wake the sleepy puppy. Once he woke up they headed out.
Since it was still really early in the morning many people were not awake in his neighborhood, delivering the mail was pretty easy. As he placed each person’s mail in their mailbox he started to feel uneasy, while he did not look inside any of the mail he still saw envelopes, and the covers of magazines. Mrs. Bell down the street received a letter from the divorce agency, little Jack got Weapon Nut Magazine, and worst of all he saw a glimpse into Mr. Jenkins…. Naughty magazine choices. Sakana had unintentionally invaded these people’s lives and they would never be the same in his eyes. He wondered how Dale could deal with all this everyday and not treat anyone differently because of it.
Most people were sleeping but not all of them, the elderly Ms. Johnson, greeted the Meijin as he approached her mailbox. After her polite greeting, she interrogated him as all old people do, asking him why he was filling In for Dale, how the ninja training was going, if he had a girlfriend and things like that. He gave short and concise responses that would answer her questions but would not allow her to ask anymore.
Moving along the street the next person he saw was Samantha, this airheaded blonde girl squeled at the site of Komorgi and sat down to pet him while he delivered the mail. They made some small talk but they really had nothing in common. Sakana felt he was intricate and she was simple (even though it probably was the other way around.) His day continued on like this, making small talk with his neighbors that he had tried so hard to ignore. He wanted everyone to be indifferent to him, like there was supposed to be some cosmic balance as to others feelings on his personality. To keep this cosmic balance he helped when needed, but ignored otherwise to keep the scale from tipping upwards.
The last and final stop was his own house. Looking through his mail he saw the usual bills and things like that, but the final letter was addressed to Sakana from Dale. He must have written it when Sakana was securing Komorgi as Dale was getting the letters Sakana needed to deliver. It said:
“If you are reading this it means you finished your route and completed your mission. I really appreciate you helping me out today, I would have been screwed without you. Let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help you out.”
Maybe his cosmic scale was meant to shift towards good after all.
