Re: The Kage Summit [Observation Thread]

Another one. Watching through the slits in his porcelain wolf mask as one of the guards standing behind the blue haired Kage departed, now leaving only the Hokage with both of her guards still in the room. It looked almost bad on their part that every one of the kage had a guard dispatched to handle the unknown invader except for her. But it was only fitting guessed Nobunaga. The Hokage appeared lazy and lethargic, being the only one to not act seemed fitting of her character.
With his vision and hearing focused on the event taking place before him, his sensing would continue to reach out to what was happening outside this room. The intruder on the roof remained exactly where they were, his attempts to spy on the meeting clearly going unquestioned. For now that was fine seeing as how nothing official had been said just yet however one of the guards should take care of the rodent on the roof before anything of worth was mentioned. Out in the hallways was a different scenario however. He could sense that the intruder had now come face to face with who Nobunaga could presume was the Hogokage's guard. They were simply standing which told the Hiyu that they were talking. He wondered what they could be saying. Was it really wise to converse with the intruder instead of taking him out right away? He could only guess as he was unaware of what was truly taking place.
Now, with the three Jinchuriki revealed to one another, their inner demons had the chance to converse with one another. Remaining tall and statue like in his posture as always, the Hiyu would show no sign of what was going on to those who were unaware. Under no circumstance could he cause suspicion to arise not was he going to risk giving up the other secret of the other Jinchuriki. The current predicament he found himself in was not what he had expected when embarking on this adventure. "Damn you Komori." Nobunaga grunted to himself, watching the waiving tails behind the two Kage while their Bijuu spoke. "Far too long indeed." Mused the Rokubi to the ears of the Hogokage and Mizukage in its high pitched voice. "The circumstances which we find ourselves in are unfortunate but at least we meet for I have longed to hear your voices." Paying attention to both the Bijuu conversation and the talk of cross village Chuunin exams, the Rokubi went on "I wonder how many of our other brethren have fallen prey to the greed of these shinobi. Hopefully they are luckier than we three."

Re: The Kage Summit [Observation Thread]
Fri Aug 31, 2018 10:59 pm
It wasn't long after his arrival in the meeting chamber that his charge would arrive, causing the first kage in the room to smirk in response. The reason for the facial gesture Kotetsu would likely never know, but it was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Valen had changed into the robes and hat that denoted him as the Hogokage. The other Hoshi-nin that was Valen's second bodyguard did not appear to be with him, which Kotetsu thought strange. It wasn't his place to question the other member of Valen's retinue. So he would keep his stance unchanged from when he had first entered the room. His mentor greeted the other kage in the room as the Mizukage. 'Ah...' Kotetsu thought to himself. 'That must by Xyxer Gyojin then...Assuming he hasn't died since we left Konoha...' He kept his expression neutral. Again, it wasn't his place to cause problems. Immediately afterwards, Valen placed his own sword on the table, before inquiring about the Mizukage's trip. The Mizukage responded in kind and removed his hat, placing it on the table. Xyxer looked older than Kotetsu had expected. The blue hair and beard were not, but at least he had chosen an acceptable colour. Valen would respond in kind by removing his own hat and placing it on the table in front of him, and idly chatting about their own journey to get here.
The Hokage and their bodyguards were the next group to enter the hall. Neither of the three were people that Kotetsu recognized. The Hokage appeared to be a young woman, fairly short in stature, and hard to tell anything else because of the robes. She took a seat directly across from the Mizukage. The Hokage's bodyguards were an interesting pair to say the least. The male bodyguard was a bit shorter than Kotetsu was, with purple eyes and had hair of a flamboyant shade of red. He wore a white cloak that covered everything else he was wearing, except for the bottoms of his white pants, and his bare feet. 'Interesting...' Kotetsu thought to himself as he gave the man a once-over. The female bodyguard was definitely the shortest member of the Konoha delegation. She was a few inches shorter than her leader, even while wearing what appeared to be high heeled boots. She had pure white hair and eyes to match. 'Ah...' Kotetsu thought to himself, remembering another Konoha-nin with the exact same kind of eyes. She is a member of the Hyuuga clan as well...Like that Love Sakumo person...' She wore a Jounin flak jacket over top of a purple dress and equally purple cardigan. She wore her Konoha Hitai-ate on the top of her head and a katana on her left hip. She also happened to be the Konoha bodyguard closest to him, not that it really mattered. Xyxer then greeted the Hokage before returning his attention to Valen, asking about one of his predecessors, a name that the Winter Knight of Hoshi did not recognize. Valen had gone into an explanation of how he had become the Hogokage, replacing Kyousuke Snow who had committing suicide not too long ago.
The other member of Valen's bodyguard entered the room a handful of seconds after the delegation from Konoha did, and took up his position on the other side of Valen. 'About time...' Kotetsu thought to himself. 'I wonder what took him so long...' As the Mizukage and Valen continued their discussion. Xyxer was briefly describing an encounter he had with the first Hogokage in Tengakure, where the latter had been sliced in half and survive. The story appeared to amuse the Hokage, who responded with a short-lived chuckle.
His thoughts were brought back to the present as the final delegation, the delegation from Kumogakure arrived. Instead of there being the Raikage and two bodyguards, the Raikage, who introduced himself as Komori Hozuki, had only one bodyguard with him. Komori was slightly shorter than Kotetsu was, and it was difficult to tell how he was built due to the robes that he wore. He had also placed his hat on the table in front of him, allowing all to see his black hair and one blue eye. His other eye was covered with an eyepatch. That meant that the Hokage was the only village leader left still wearing theirs. The one bodyguard that was with Komori was built the way a bodyguard was supposed to look. He was big, slightly taller than Kotetsu was, but significantly larger in terms of physical size. Other than basic physical stature, Kotetsu wasn’t able to really make anything out on account of the individual wearing a fox mask, denoting him as a member of Kumo’s ANBU. The only thing that hinted at his area of expertise was the large sword strapped to his back. ‘Another swordsman…’ Kotetsu thought to himself. The giant from Kumo, judging from his startled exclamation, was the only one that had actively brought attention to the massive mechanical…whatever it was…behind the Mizukage. Kotetsu had to stop himself from chuckling at the reaction, resorting to a smirk instead. It would not behoove him to mock the other shinobi at this summit.
The Raikage was welcomed by the other village leaders before footfalls were heard suddenly outside of the building. More specifically, on the roof of the building. The Kumo guard leaned in and whispered to his Kage. Almost immediately after, his fellow bodyguard, and the lanky Kiri bodyguard both volunteered to deal with the situation and left the meeting room quickly. Kotetsu remained where he was, it was not something that needed more people than had already left. Plus he’d be damned if he left his Kage alone, since this could very possibly be a trap. He kept a very minor amount of his attention on the situation outside, since there was potentially more important things at work in the room here, what with four Kage here to discuss…whatever it was they were here for. Apparently not though, as the Raikage decided to join in on the small talk that had been happening. He had some grandiose claims in terms of trying to make his village better. Not that it was of any interest to the Winter Knight of Hoshi. He had spent a little time in the ruins of Kumogakure when he had travelled to the alternate version of this world, but he had no plans on visiting the current incarnation of that village. The closest he would want to go is Snow Country to visit the ruins of the village there. His attention returned to the Raikage as he directed a question towards Valen. The actual premise of the question hovered on the edge of an insult, which angered Kotetsu. ‘Who are you to question someone’s merits based on how old they appear to be…’ He thought to himself. It was not the time, nor the place to call out the Raikage for his comments. Valen was more than capable of handling himself in this situation.
It would seem though that Xyxer was not interested in allowing the conversation to devolve past the point it has already gotten to, as he seemed to finally get into the reason he had called for a summit of the reigning kage. It was a peace summit of sorts. He was looking to try to resolve any outstanding issues between villages, as well as start joint Chuunin exams every two months. ‘A rather ambitious plan…’ Kotetsu thought to himself as he mulled over the proposition. ‘Definitely not a bad idea, assuming the other kage are in agreement…’
Valen was the first to voice his opinion on the subject, lending support to the suggestion of combined Chuunin exams. He added the recommendation that they be held in a different village each time, to allow trust to build between them. The Raikage had responded by recommending neutral ground, on the basis that countries at war would provide an excuse to provide problems. ‘It almost seemed that he didn’t hear Xyxer mention that should countries at war cause an issue, the remaining villages would band together…’ Kotetsu thought with an inward roll of his eyes. ‘It would seem that the latecomer would need to pay more attention to what was being said by others…’ His thoughts were interrupted by the Hokage voicing her opinion, suggesting an exam for shinobi that were already Chuunin, which definitely was a smart idea. ‘It would give villages an excuse to have more individuals present and mingling…’ Kotetsu thought with a nod of agreement. He was curious to see what the Mizukage would say in response to the suggestions that were put forward.

Re: The Kage Summit [Observation Thread]

The blazing pink haired guard paid little, if any attention to the ongoing small talk that was currently going on between the Mizukage and the Hogokage. Quite frankly it was meaningless and had nothing to do with the reason for this gathering. That interested the Kaguya more than anything else, more than getting the opportunity to see the strength of other villages, their Kage's and stop ranking shinobi. As good as that may be, he simply wanted to know the intentions of Xyxer for calling such a meeting. Did he truly have something to discuss with the other villages, or was he merely sizing them up, getting a feel for their current strength and capabilities. Kotsuzui was more inclined to lean witht he latter. From the little he knew about the Mizukage, he didn't seem like the kind of person who just wanted to discuss things over. Surely patience would lead to the answers so that is what Kotsuzui did while he waited for the remaining invitees to join.
Shortly after the arrival of the Konoha trio, the second bodyguard to the Hogokage entered the room taking up his position hidden behind his golden ANBU mask. The Kaguya fancied the mask, playing with the idea that he may draw inspiration from it for his own soon-to-be mask. He did find it odd that the guard had not entered with his Kage, rather after the Hokage had entered. It raised suspicion in the mind of the Kaguya. What was he up to instead of staying with and protecting his Kage? Had he been surveying the surrounding area to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary? If that was indeed what he had been doing then Kotsuzui could not blame him. After all, you can't really trust anyone coming to this meeting that isn't with you. The fact that he came in mere moments after Konoha had was a little suspect to him however. Was he watching them and if so why? Unfortunately Kotsuzui was likely not going to receive such answers. For now all he could do was keep an eye on him as he had been doing with everyone else.
Without further ado, the Raikage finally entered with a brute of a man for is bodyguard and only one bodyguard at that. Had he decided to come with one guard alone, or was this second guard waiting behind to scan the area much like the golden mask one may have been doing. Whatever it may have been, this guard was also hidden behind his own ANBU wolf mask. Perhaps another mask to draw inspiration from? Who knew. One thing he did know was that his fellow bodyguard Hikari was too kind for her own good. Although she was just being respectful, she had been the only guard to greet and show respect the the other Kages and maybe even their guards as well. Maybe Kotsuzui was wrong. Maybe that was what made Hikari better than all the other guards. The fact she didn't care what the others around her did or what was customary conduct for guards. Instead she went with what she though was the proper thing to do, no matter what everyone else did or didn't do. Kotsuzui didn't dwell on it too much due to the fact the four Kage were now in attendance and all this small talk of former Kages could finally end. Quite frankly, it was boring.
He continued to scan the room, no one hidden from him. Not even with their attempts at hiding their visage with masks. So long as the vibrations continued to pass through Kotsuzui's feet within a certain distance, the Kaguya could see everything. Everyone within this room was within range. He could see the petite kunoichi hidden inside the behemoth of a machine. He could see the face of the Hogokage's guard hidden behind his golden mask. The face of the brute standing behind the Raikage could not hide from Kotsuzui either. Kotsuzui also notice his sword that was as large if not larger than the very sword the Mizukage had strapped to his back. He could only wonder if its capabilities could match that of the Mizukages.
The small talk continued for a little while longer once the Raikage arrived, all participating with the exception of Risako. The only words she ever spoke were those to greet each Kage. Perhaps the small talked bored her as much as it did the Kaguya. Perhaps she simply had nothing to add to the conversation. Before things could proceed to the juicy stuff, Kotsuzui felt vibrations coming from the outside of the building, particularly the walls of the meeting room leading outside and pass by his feet. This painted a picture in his head of who it was. Undoubtedly it was someone he did not know. A potential guard? Unlikely. Why would he be scaling the walls to the roof? The reactions of the other guards confirmed the idea that it was an intruder as the slender black haired man from Kiri and the golden masked man from Hoshi both left the room to deal with it. This left only Konoha with two guards in the room. Kotsuzui felt no sense of urgency to leave the room. Two guards should be enough to deal with what was going on outside. And he felt that staying in this room was the best way to protect Risako. If each guard felt certain their Kages were safe with one guard then that was entirely their prerogative. Whether it was the smart choice or not, time would tell.
Finally Xyxer got things moving along as the Kaguya's attention shifted to him but not entirely on him. It would be a huge mistake to do so. He mentioned how the point of this was to deal with a number of issues and to propose any ideas they may have. His words made it seem as though he was here for some form of peace. Nothing was ever that simple. Anything Xyxer said was to be taken like a double edged blade. There had to be some other reason for this and not just "peace talks". The idea of joint exams was proposed where villages would have to put aside their difference. The idea was one that intrigued Kotsuzui. He would have liked the opportunity to face off against shinobi from other villages for his exams. But it seemed to good to be true for villages to put aside their differences, even if they risked facing the wrath of each village as Xyxer put it. The Hogokage agreed, preferring to rotate the exams from village to village. Both Raikage and Hokage proposed they be held on neutral grounds for obvious reasons, Risako adding in the idea of Jounin exams as well. After all it use to be a thing, before Suna was attacked.
However that is where the talks of "peace" ended before Xyxer went a different direction. One more keen to someone of his nature, potentially showing the true nature of this meeting. After all, he didn't seem like the kind of man to just agree to deals. After his take over of Konoha he made it clear he signed deals with the blood of his enemies. Today was like any other day for the leader of the Bloody Mist. As each Kage gave a piece of their mind, Kotsuzui couldn't help notice that Xyxer was paying more attention to the remaining guard of the Hogokage, more attention than he seemingly deserved. Why? Keeping his eyes on Xyxer, Kotsuzui was also "looking" at Kotetsu with the painted image he was receiving from the vibrations in the room. But he wasn't sure why Xyxer was focused on this man. The true nature of the Mizukage showed itself as his tone returned to a more threatening one, grasping the Konoha blade as he asked the Hogokage about his guard. More specifically about his name which meant Xyxer recognized him and maybe even knew the man. At that moment adrenaline began coursing throughout the Kaguya's body, a subtle smirk revealing itself only to those who were focused on him. So likely no one. Judging by the Mizukage's tone and holding of the blade, Kotetsu's blood was going to be what Xyxer used for the sealing of his deals. Unfortunate for this man, whoever he was.
Kotsuzui took no immediate thread to Xyxer taking hold of his weapon. After all he knew Xyxer wasn't going to target Risako or Konoha. It already belonged to him. The other village representatives were the ones Kotsuzui had to worry about and see how they reacted to Xyxer's clear actions of dominance. Telling signs he did not care for how others react. He knew taking up the sword a threatening actions, yet he did it nonetheless. It was probably his intention to do so, assert his dominance over them and see how they would react to it. If they had done it, rest assured Xyxer would not have taken to kindly to them. When Valen got up from his seat, Xyxer following and moving closer, Kotsuzui himself took a step closer to Hikari, now being half an arms length away from both the Konoha kunoichi. Things were bound to get ugly and he needed to make sure he could get both of them out if need be.
Kotetsu revealed who he was and now Kotsuzui finally understood why Xyxer had turned his attentions to this man. Now the Kaguya could not help by hold back his grin. This was a missing ninja from Konoha. Xyxer had made his intentions about missing ninja very clear to Kotsuzui, even going as far as telling him to hunt them down. Now that he had a missing ninja in his sites it seemed as though he were going to do the honors himself, the blade in his hand a clear indication of his intentions. How fitting. Take the life of a runaway Konoha citizen with a Konoha blade. Xyxer truly was a monster in every sense of the word. Kotsuzui could tell the Raikage had no intentions of intervening. Based on his interactions with the Hoshi leader, the two did not seem fond of one another. Perhaps this was why he did not react to Xyxer's actions at all. Perhaps he was content with how things were moving.
Kotetsu tried to play of the fact he wasn't a missing ninja from Konoha, having never been a shinobi from the village. His vain attempt at trying to save himself almost made the Kaguya laugh. Like a child trying his best to avoid punishment from his parents, trying to justify his actions. Yet no matter what he did he couldn't avoid the inevitable. Xyxer was the inevitability.
Before the Mizukage made any further actions towards the guard, his own leader made an attempt at ending the guards life. A blade protruded from the hand placed on his guards shoulder, revealing to all the hand was in fact made of metal. The act itself was a telling sign to the nature of the Hogokage. It was pathetic in the mind of the Kaguya, cowardice. To attempt to kill your own shinobi simply because he was confronted by the Kage of another village. Missing nin or not, a Kage is meant to protect those which live under his roof. Kotetsu lived under the roof of Hoshi and thus fell under the protection of Valen. Yet Valen attempted to kill him. Had he crumbled under the pressure at the thought of having to face off against the Leviathan? The Hogokage attempted to kill his own bodyguard because the Mizukage stood and approached them with a sheathed sword in hand. It wasn't even drawn yet. Was this how Hoshi handled tough situations? Regardless, Kotsuzui's hands raised slightly both mere milometers from their targets. His left hovering beside Hikari's arm, his right directly above Risako's shoulder. Even if Kotetsu's mist got through, Kotsuzui would be able to see everything. If things got too heated, Kotsuzui would get the Konoha trio out of there if need be.
Shortly after the arrival of the Konoha trio, the second bodyguard to the Hogokage entered the room taking up his position hidden behind his golden ANBU mask. The Kaguya fancied the mask, playing with the idea that he may draw inspiration from it for his own soon-to-be mask.

A Series of Unfortunate Mistakes will be the title of this tale when told and passed on to future generations of shinobi for there were many steps that could have been taken that would have only made this timeline a worse case scenario situation. The abstract; When an individual is faced with adversity, when someone is placed in between a rock and a hard place, when a person comes face to face with a force so great that it breaks the fabric of their understanding of reality, that is when the true colors of an individual are revealed. When a leviathan emerges from the abyss of the deep seas, that is when the true nature of the ship's captain comes to light.
The First Mistake; Do I Know You?
The individual who had built up both the skill and rank to obtain the honor of escorting their kage as one of his prestigious guards had failed to do one simple thing. Hide his face. Such a simple task and so easily achieved yet so grave when forgotten. Despite clearly not being an Anbu, it should have been in Hoshi's kid kage's best interest to mask the faces of his guards. This was a meeting of Kage was it not, the identity of their guards should not have been a concern and thus should have remained unknown, unless of course the guard wanted their identity known. Something that seemed quite possible with what was gathered from Kotetsu's personality, to be discussed at a later time. If a simple mask had donned the face of the Yuki then this tale would be told much differently.
This of course excludes the Hokage for her clear lack of interest in the events taking place are indicative of her not masking her own guards.
The Second Mistake; Restless Legs.
A sword so blatantly displayed on a table where the most powerful shinobi in the world were gathered was not only an arrogant move but it was one of convenience for the true intentions of the blue haired individual were made clear and they were made clearer when that very sword was clasped in his grasp. There had never been a more obvious indication of an impending fight except when that very same man showed up to the gates of Konohagakure no Sato with an army at his heels. However this threat was not answered, instead it was seemingly ignored. The response; standing up from one's chair as if nothing had happened, offering no answer to the call to arms before him. Well, we will soon come to find out that the events taking place before him should not have been so easily waved off, dismissed as if they were of no importance.
The Third Mistake; The Oral Presentation.
Perhaps out of vanity, some unearned sense of egotism or a misguided sense of pride, when responsibility fell onto the man at question to deal with the current situation, he only managed to further increase the leviathans appetite for human flesh. Unfortunately just like his leader, neither of them seemed to understand the depths of the situation which they now found themselves drowning in. Perhaps they did, but it was so gravely mishandled when the man with ice in his veins decided to speak his truth, or at least tried. His words were few, filled with smugness and offered no explanation, only feeding the raging fire flickering before their very eyes. In short, when the ball fell into his lap and it came his time to speak, he had dropped the ball.
The Fourth Mistake; Failing to Read the Job Description.
The waters were now painted with it and the air now reeked with its stench. The true colors of the captain at hand were made clear to all and it filled their nostrils and captivated their gaze as they bore witness to events that could have been handle more effectively by better men. Better men indeed for the responsibilities of the captaincy had fallen onto the shoulders of a child. Could everything that happened so far be laid at the feet of the captain of the vessel? One could say so, but what happened next made it clear that he was not ready to handle the mantle that had been given to him. What are the responsibilities of a captain? Is one of them not the protection and safe keeping of his crew, each and every last one of them? When the far, outreaching tendrils of a great leviathan emerge from bellow the oceans surface, its domineering presence unanswered by those who face the greatest risk of being crushed, is it suitable for the captain to offer one of his crew members as a sacrifice to save the rest? Or is it the captains duty to take charge, fight back against the god like creature to save his crew, down to the last man and bring honor to the mantle of captain, make sure his crew see the light of day? When a captain fails to take on his responsibilities, that is perhaps the greatest mistake of all, and that is the greatest mistake of this tale, when the captain turned on his own.
The Fifth Mistake...
A sudden chuckle would interrupt the thoughts of said author, a giggle that echoed in the back of his mind, slicing through his train of thought. "I never took you for the writing type." The Rokubi so clearly mocking Nobunaga would continue to laugh in the back of his head. "Tsk." he offered in response, annoyed that the demon was listening to everyone one of his thoughts. He still had not gotten use to that. "You think you're better than he is? So big, so tough and mighty are you? Look at the kids skills, look at his speed, his elegance. You wouldn't stand a chance against that." By now, the Hogokage had reached for his sword and managed to get behind his fleeing guard in the blink of an eye. Everything was done with the trained skills of an expert, each move, every step, every pull and push of his muscles fibers taking no more time than it needed. A master at killing, no doubt about it. "Perhaps not." Retorted the beast's master. "But it is not his skills I am calling into question. Turning your back on your own men in the face of adversity, especially when they require your leadership the most is a sign of weakness. The kid has proven that his will is malleable, easily shaped and shifted by the actions of those who are greater than him. These are characteristic of a coward, not a leader."
Crossing his burly cloaked arms across his chest, the silent sentry would remain so, watching the unfortunate events take place before him along side his Kage who had wisely remained out of matters which did not concern them.

Frozen blood rested against the blue steel of Komon's armor. The long walk through the land of iron's snow had seen to that. But even covered in the blood of a dead man, Komon hardly demanded the attention of the room. The second corpse produced today rested on the floor, and a boy with one arm stood above him.
"Let’s get back to it then. I assume there shouldn’t be any issues with us taking the body? He was trained as a shinobi in our village after all and as such could possess information I do not want to get out. I’ll gladly send his parents back to Konoha if necessary"
Realization dawned upon the Hyuuga's face. The one armed man was a kage, and the corpse was his own guard. Not that he seemed worked up about it at all, in fact, he seemed almost entirely emotionless to the situation that surrounded him, no hint of remorse or sorrow to be seen. He was cruel like many kage to have come before him.
He'd glance to his brother through the visage of his armors shadows, to see that he was still sitting. Perhaps there was more to the story if he had chosen not to intervene. Komori was many things, but a coward was not one.
He'd stand beside his brother giving a small nod to tell him the disturbance had been taken care of, before speaking to him through the telepathy seal. "I killed a boy from sunagakure, It's probably going to come up when the other guards get back. And I don't know how Nobunaga will react" The words were relayed through the seal with concern. Nobunaga was a former suna nin, and by the sounds of it the boy had known Kyson.
Was it possible they'd been friends?

Re: The Kage Summit [Observation Thread]

The Hogokage had been the first to voice their opinion on the suggestion of joint Chuunin Exams, and he felt they should be held within the confines of major villages, rotating between the four of them. The Raikage’s voice opposed Valen’s, believing they should hold the Chuunin Exams on neutral territory to avoid unpredicted times of war between villages. Komori thought they could have a large arena in the neutral land, with each village being seperated in a similar manner to how they were currently seated, but conjoined at the center where the arena was to allow for the shinobi and civilians of all the villages to intermingle and become familiarized with the shinobi from lands not their own. Risako took her time in responding to the posed question, thinking about the pros and cons before finalizing an answer. When she spoke it was not about the chuunin exams, but another idea to further test more of their shinobi at once. The hokage offered up having joint Jounin Exams to be hosted at the same time as the chuunin ones, and agreed with the Raikage that both should be on neutral ground.
It wasn’t the snowy haired woman’s place to decide which suggestion would prove to be the most fruitful of course, but she had her own silent thoughts on the matter. Personally she preferred the idea of having the exams be in the villages, for it gave the others a chance to see what that village was like. To experience the new culture firsthand and get a taste for what living in that specific village entailed. However she did agree that wars happen and it wouldn’t be wise to host an exam when two of the villages were fighting, but felt they could amend that by having the exams in neutral territory only when other villages were not at peace with one another. It would be the best of both worlds kind of idea, one that she thought would appease the most people on all sides.
Her eyes had been scanning the room as the kage spoke up in turn, not looking directly at anyone unless they made a movement that her Byakugan was able to catch, until she noticed the Mizukage’s orbs unmoving and focused intently on something to her right. At first she had mistaken his eyes to be watching her, but when she flicked her gaze to follow his line of sight it was actually the man standing a good distance away from her. The sole bodyguard of the Hogokage.
It helped that her eyes lacked pupils, allowing her to easily mask where she was looking. Yet despite knowing the target of the Mizukage’s eyes, she was unaware as to why the bodyguard had drawn his attention as much as it had. It didn’t take long to find out, however, for the man across from them gripped his hand around the sheath he had brought with him, drawing it closer to his body least he need to draw it quickly. His voice lacked the slight warmth it previously held as he coldly asked about the man beside Valen, wondering if his name was Kotetsu Shinogami.
Somehow, someway the Mizukage knew the man from Hoshi, and he didn’t seem fond of him at all. At the change in demeanor of Xyxer, Valen rose from his chair and began to pace back and forth, obviously well aware of why the Mizukage called out his guard and thinking of a way to dodge the impending flood threatening to destroy all he had vowed to keep safe. After a few moments of silence, the ashen haired teen stood to the left of his guard, his right hand perched on his left shoulder. Hikari edged closer to Risako in case she needed to protect the raven haired woman from collateral damage caused by the shinobi of Hoshi or Kiri, should their discussing turn into fighting. It was then that the Hogokage told Kotetsu to explain himself before requesting the Mizukage to do the same.
The midnight haired teen scanned the room before he started speaking, his voice even as he calmly delved into who he was and why he was there. Hikari kept her expression neutral despite realizing why Xyxer had targeted the boy. He was a citizen of Konoha, presumably having fled during the war with Kiri, although she found it rather odd that a man of his age would think it wise to flee so easily to another village despite their shinobi having sacrificed so much to keep their civilians safe from the storm. She wondered if Xyxer had called him out for the same reason she thought questionable herself, or if there was more to the story of Kotetsu Shinogami than she was informed about.
Her eyes did not leave the trio even for a second, thus she missed the slight raise of the Raikage’s lips as Kotetsu finished speaking and she didn't notice the smirk dancing across the face of her fellow guard. The Kaguya, unbeknownst to her, loved fighting and the subtle hint that there might be one now excited him. It wasn’t hard to imagine the two villages colliding, as Xyxer had risen from his chair the moment Valen had from his, both giants towering above her small stature. The blunette wasted no time in striding over to the Hoshi side, making his authority known to the younger male and asserting his dominance over him. Xyxer had power and strength, something the Hogokage seemed to lack or kept hidden beneath a detached facade.
Fortunately for Hikari, her clan’s doujutsu allowed her to look upon the spectacle in front of her without worrying about the movements of the Raikage or his sole bodyguard, for Risako had moved to be closer to both her guards, placing her well within the Hyuuga’s eight trigrams divination circle as well as her invisible (to the naked eye) protective barrier that would sprout out around her should she feel threatened. And it was her eyes that permitted her to sense Kotsuzui stepping closer to her, wanting both the Hokage and herself within reach in case he needed to teleport them out of there. This small bit of information informed her that Kots was able to transport more than just one person through his space time jutsu, and for a moment she let her thoughts drift and wonder what else he could do with that specialization.
The warning words of the Mizukage called her thoughts back to attention, his hand resting on the hilt of the katana at his side. His voice held no poison or malice despite what she had expected from the man who usually derived pleasure from the violence he created. Was it because the young shinobi of Hoshi knew not of the crime he had committed against Konoha? Or was the Kiri man holding himself back in order to keep some semblance of cordiality?
However, it didn’t matter what the Mizukage had planned to do for the Hogokage, with his hand having rested on his guard’s unsuspecting shoulder like a friend, acted before anyone else could. His hand shot out a blade aimed at his ally’s neck, her eyes widening slightly and teeth clenching at the action. Valen attempted to take the life of the person he chose to protect him, as if their relationship was expendable on a whim. His eyes flashed a new hue while he silently forsook his own shinobi, alerting her to the fact he also wielded a doujutsu, although which one she did not know. But given that he had introduced himself with the last name of Akari, she guessed finding out his clan’s Kekkei Genkai once she got back to Kono wouldn’t be difficult.
Kotetsu was able to dodge his former leader’s blade, his skin as white as a ghost and a mist beginning to fill the room, attempting to obscure the vision of everyone in the room except for herself while he tried to make his escape through the door. Yet the mist disappeared as soon as it had been made, the legendary blade upon Xyxer’s back absorbed the chakra within the jutsu, causing it to disperse. Had her own chakra not been devoured by the sword known as Samehada, she would’ve been just as clueless as the others in the room about why the mist cleared without the Mizukage having moved an inch.
A single word filled the silence that had ensued, a single word that befitted the man with hair the same color as her own. Coward. That was exactly what the Hogokage was. A child so terrified of facing the Mizukage that he would turn against one of his own, a man he was supposed to sacrifice his life to protect against. Even her own leader had fought with everything she had against the Mizukage during the war, suffering far more damage than she deserved for standing up against the Bloody Mist. Yet this leader turned his back on Kotetsu when Xyxer approached him, blade stil sheathed and voice monotone, because he was too scared to face him head on?
Valen shouldn’t have been the leader of Hoshi if he could falter so easily, and his actions reminded her far too much of another treacherous bastard. Yensung, the shinobi who murdered her brother and attempted to slay their Hokage, also gave in to his fears and betrayed her village because of the Mizukage. Hikari hoped, pleaded even, with any god above to spare Kotetsu, to not allow him to follow in the steps of her little brother. She had witnessed his bloodshed and didn’t want to see another innocent teen paint the ground crimson. Like Sal it wasn’t his fault he had been targeted, but his parents for fleeing and taking him with them. They should’ve been the ones Valen tried to cut down.
The aforementioned shinobi also took on a new form, his hair growing in length and becoming blonde while his body grew, horns coming out of his head and a pair of demonic wings sprouting from his back. Hikari could feel a drastic growth in his strength as his chakra grew with his transformation and she wondered if what he had done was similar to Salzem’s lycan form or if it was merely a jutsu allowing him to change. The traitor, moving faster than Hikari could follow, grabbed his own sword from the table and was behind the fleeing man in the blink of an eye, either having ran there with unimaginable speed or having teleported she wasn’t sure. But what she was sure of was that he had landed his slash through the shinobi, red liquid spraying out as the blade cut through both of Kotetsu’s arms and horizontally through this middle.
It took everything in her to remain stationary as the Hoshi nin was injured, her heart crying out and begging her body to react. She longed to help him, to heal his injuries and attach his limbs back to what remained of his arms. She cursed fate for what it was doing to her, and cursed herself for letting it happen a second time. Hikari thought she had gotten stronger these past few months in Kiri, but reliving the nightmare of being helpless to save someone reminded her she was still the pathetic medic from the war. Having failed to save Salzem she had vowed to become stronger so she would never have to witness another murder, but as the man before her fought desperately to hold onto his life, she clenched her fists at the reality of her situation. The Hyuuga had failed yet again to live up to her life’s mission of saving as many people as she could, and this was to be her punishment, watching as Kotetsu fell to the ground and muttered the same thoughts she had about Valen as the latter raised their metallic arm to shoot another blade at the dying teen.
A shield formed in front Kotetsu, made entirely of ice, protecting him from the velocity of the blade but shattering upon its impact. It had softened the blow and cause it to bounce off the snow user’s armor, while chains and spears came up from the ground around the fallen teen intending to take Valen’s life. Hikari wished they had and bit back her disappoint when the spears slung him into the air, doing little to no damage. Fate had a twisted sense of justice, as a single chain caught the blonde by his steel arm, crushing his replacement arm into minute pieces. A life for a prosthetic arm, hardly a fair trade in her lilac tinted eyes.
The words that dribbled out of the young man’s mouth pulled at her heartstrings, reminiscent of the final words Sal’s own lips had departed her with. He hoped Xyxer would kill Valen, and she secretly hoped the blunette would for a man like Valen didn’t deserve to walk amongst the living. Their world didn’t need scum like him polluting their society with his sorry excuse of a human being.
Hatred boiled within her veins, her eyes narrowing and hardening at the next few actions of the Hogokage as he safely landed, much to her disdain, from the attack to his arm. He tried to act like nothing had happened, as if he didn’t just kill his own in cold blood, by sheathing the murder weapon and moving back to the table, remorse written nowhere across his visage. She was astonished he felt nothing at having just killed Kotetsu, as if what had taken place was as mundane as doing laundry, and she wondered how many other shinobi under his protection had he slain because it was more convenient to end their lives than deal with the the threat himself?
Then he had the nerve to request for his student’s body despite everything he had just done. A strict voice caught their attention as Xyxer spoke up, confirming that Valen would not be taking Kotetsu's remains home and insulting the Hogokage as he ended any further questions about the lifeless man before them. His cold eyes met her own when he commanded her to carry Kotetsu back to Konoha, making sure that everything he owned remained as it had been before he passed away.
“As you wish, Lord Mizukage.” Her monotone voice replied and she bowed out of her respect for the man after he gave his orders. Then she walked over to the still warm corpse, wondering how best to bring him back to their village. Hikari had corpse storage scrolls on her person currently, but was unsure as to if he expected her to transport or physically carry the shinobi. He was a meticulous person, one who expected his words to be fulfilled just as he had said them, and paired with the fact that he hadn’t sealed away Salzem’s body after the war, instead leaving him at his final resting place where he eventually was picked up by the medics from the Konoha Hospital when they searched the battlefield for people in need of healing or those who departed in need of being buried, she felt the Mizukage meant she needed to quite literally carry Kotetsu.
Upon that realization, which took but a few seconds, she collected his somewhat scattered remains and any items belonging to him that might’ve fallen off during the fight together before she knelt down and scooped him up into her arms, thankful she had the strength to hoist someone twice her size into her slender embrace. Salzem hadn’t been given his proper burial yet a part of her was thankful the boy she held would be granted such justice.
Another part of her wondered what would happen to his parents after they were sent back to Konoha. Would they be killed by Risako or her ANBU immediately, or would they be granted the chance of sending their son off to the afterlife before their own funerals? She wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to know the answers to the questions buzzing through her head.
It was then that Komori voiced what she had been thinking internally, calling the coward out for what he was and questioning his actions, while his second guard, and one of the men Hikari had seen fighting the intruder, entered the room and moved to be at his leader’s side. Her eyes glanced at the one eyed man as he spoke, following his movements when he placed his own weapon back at his side. The Hogokage didn’t wait to take his exit as the Mizukage asked about the Raikage’s blade, wishing to inspect it because of its familiarity, and she hoped she would never cross paths with the teen again. She despised being in the company of people like him and tried to avoid it at all costs. Associating with traitors would only soil one’s own hands sooner or later.
With Valen finally gone, Risako spoke up in what had felt like ages, her softer voice a great contrast to the course ones that had drowned out the silence previously. Hikari, having walked back to the side of her kage after picking up the ice prince, also felt the Hokage release her tense muscles as she inquired about being able to leave. If Xyxer had no objections and no one else in the room interfered with their departure, the Hyuuga would follow Risako and, presumably Kotsuzui, out of the room, never before wishing she was back in Konoha as much as she did at that moment. The emotional stress placed upon her by the betrayal of Hoshi had taken its toll on her mind and body, worsening her mental state and forcing her to come to terms with the fact that she needed even more power than she originally thought if she was to both avenge Sal’s murder and prevent heinous crimes like the two she had witnessed from ever happening again.

Re: The Kage Summit [Observation Thread]
Mon Oct 08, 2018 6:29 pm
As soon as it had begun, the skirmish between Kage and bodyguard had ended. It had ended rather quickly, both shinobi showing off an arsenal of moves. One more deadly putting the pressure while the other more defensive and trying to flee. The sudden change in appearance piqued the Kaguya's insterest as he felt the sudden increase in his power. The wings were a nice added touch to it which surely had their benefits. He had never seen something of the sort, but he wondered if such a sudden increase in power and the transformation had any negative effects on the body. Risako had also taken precautionary measures and decided to stand from her seat and take up a position between her two guards. She held a firm grip on the blade resting at her hip ready to make a move if need be. It was best to be cautious. But if anything were to happen and come their way it was the job of Kotsuzui and Hikari to make sure Risako had no need of her blade.
The Kaguya had no trouble following the beginnings of the attempted assassination, being able to read the moves of both Hoshi nin relatively easy. It was once the Hogokage took the appearance of a monster that he began to move faster than Kotsuzui could manage to keep up with. The Kage may have been a coward, but he could certainly fight. After all, he surely could not have been elected Kage of the village based on his philosophies. Unless the village did not know this side of him? His bodyguard certainly did not. Would they know now? Or were they going to keep this hidden from the village? So many intriguing questions to the Kaguya, yet none of them really concerned him. All he cared about was studying and analyzing the moves of the two combatants. Both outclassed the Kaguya in terms of skill and fighting capability. So long as he did not need to interfere, he would take this opportunity to learn from the elite fighters of the village.
After a number of moves had been launched, the Kage came out victorious in killing a shinobi of his own village in order to avoid conflict with the Mizukage. Before the guard died from being cut in half, he managed to utter a few words to curse his former Kage, hoping that he would die at the hands of Xyxer. Kotsuzui's eyes drifted ever to slightly to view Xyxer as the body fell to the ground, to see how he reacted. He seemed unphased by the words however. The Kaguya could only wonder what the Mizukage was thinking at this moment. Although the fight was over, Risako loosened up, and the Hogokage reverted back to his normal state now missing an arm, Kotsuzui did not ease up. There was still no telling what was to come next and he needed to be prepared.
It seemed as though the general consensus among the room was the same. The Hogokage was a coward and a disappointment. The Raikage held nothing back when speaking to him. Almost as though Xyxer also ruled over Hoshi, he informed Valen that the body would not be going back with him but returned to Konoha along with the parents. Hikari was to transport the body of the dead shinobi. As a reflex, almost having no control over his own actions, Kotsuzui eyes turned back to Xyxer as they met with his own. It was a brief second of non-verbal communication that Xyxer was sending the the Kaguya, but he got the message. He didn't understand why he chose Hikari to carry the sliced up corpse all the way back to Konoha or the purpose of such a task. But knew that Xyxer was a man of his word. So he was going to leave Kotetsu in the capable hands of the Hyuuga.
With no objection at all, the Hogokage agreed with Xyxer and took his leave. Whether he simply did not object due to fear or retaliation from the Mizukage or because he was tired and knew he stood no chance, the Kaguya did not know. After the Hogokage's current display of actions there was no way of telling whether it was a smart move or a cowardice one. After all, he had just shown some pretty powerful techniques to the rest of the room giving everyone a read on his fighting capabilities.
After Valen took his leave, Risako informed the room she would also be leaving before motioning to Hikari to follow. Did she forget she had two bodyguards or was she expecting Kotsuzui to remain here with Xyxer? Finding the gesture somewhat humorous, Kotsuzui would follow behind the two Kunoichi taking his leave of the summit. The summit proved to be exactly what Kotsuzui expected it to be. Rather what he expected Xyxer wanted. Some form of agreements signed in the blood of his enemies. The coming of the joint exams were sure to be interesting.
