From the words of Max id did not seem to be a joke or a ruse. He was merely sick of the inaction being taken. What had sparked such a thing though? The ninja had just returned from a trip somewhere, he didn’t know of the incoming danger or the meeting to plan the defences or the lack thereof.


Not only did Sato tell him to quiet himself she even used him as a step ladder jumping onto his back causing his knees to buckle as he helped hoist the girl up.”Yes, master.” He would say in response to her antics, only for her to then call Max master. Is the master of my master, my master? It doesn’t matter lets just not pick an unwinnable fight.


Sugimoto was also there. It seemed everyone he actually knew the name of in the village was there in one convenient place.Look at us all hanging out around the inquisitive mod of normal people. Then the aura came like a wave of panic through him. Jiro would look directly to it, the direction unquestionable and the man unmistakable. The crowd spread allowing him to move through with ease.


He started speaking to the ninja claiming himself kage. What was odd was the kage was entertaining the child. There was no anger or humor, it was serious. He even told Max that it is he who should come at him. After Kyson asked his questions the one known as Max began to monologue, after of which he asked the people to make room to which they spread out in a 30M diameter. “Give me a minute, we have to clear people further than this. If you stay here know full well that you risk injury or death. File out in an orderly fashion toward the building back there.” As usual some could follow directions which most could, while others knocked people over screaming of their impending doom ‘He said we are going to die! Ya da ya da.

Making seals Jiro would create a portal before him and another on the roof of a building 100M’s away. “Step through for a good view Sato, Sugimoto.” Jiro would then step through and onto the roof he would appear waiting to see if the two ninja followed before closing it.

Max replied to Hato calmly, “It is good to see you, Hato. Know that I fully understand the situation at hand. But such is a matter to discuss at another time, in a private meeting of Kumo’s forces."  He didn't want the citizens to panic, so they would have to discuss it another time. she arose and gave a sigh. Suddenly, Kyson appeared to Max, accepting his challenge of Kage ship. "Don't kill each other, boys." She would say before hopping off the stage. 

Suddenly, Jiro opened a portal, big enough for Sugi and Hato to slip inside. He said that they would able to get a good view of the fight from the vantage point. Hato would follow behind Jiro as he slipped inside. She would need to arrive to the two of them at a moments notice just encase they needed healing. Thankfully being 100m away and up, Hato would still be able to quickly arrive at the aid of the two using Body flicker. 

Upon arriving at the roof top, Hato would activate Mind's eye of the Kagura. This way she would not only be able to observe visually, but she would be able to sense the two's battle. She needed the intel on the two powerhouses. "Who do you guy think will win?" Hato asked the two fellow genin with a sporting attitude. No doubt they were silently or not so silently cheering for one of them to be the victor. Hato was going more towards Max. He was young, yet intelligent. But he wasn't experienced in terms of the world, which can be a major down side of leading. It's easy for, say, someone to become a parenting figure and manipulate you. 

The battle started with the some beefing up with stat boosters and some serious displays of power. It was intense for Hato to be sense she actually started sweating a bit even though she was safely 100 meters away from the battle. Then Max would charge his puppet at Kyson, going for some strong blow. It was very surreal for a battle to start like this for Hato.

Sugimoto was standing besides Max when the village leader Kyson strolled through the crowd. The last time he saw Kyson was at the war meeting, which in retrospect, Sugimoto realized he was being kinda rude to him by the end of that meeting. Even though it was just his opinion put a bit too bluntly, yet he still believed it to be true. At that time he was feeling emotionally confused and that meeting took place right when he was suffering greatest. Yet now he may never get that chance since he chose to stood by Max. Sugimoto was under no illusions that by placing his faith in Max, that he was in essence placing his bet with a “traitor” and if things went south this may be the end for him. So Sugimoto was resigned to see this play out and accept the outcome regardless if it left him headless.

Kyson would seem to except Max’s feeling and was prepared to test them with a fight. Max would prove his power by letting his chakra run wild, fear would ripple throughout the crowd, Sugimoto would nearly buckle from it. But Kyson would counter Max’s wild chakra with his own display which was even more impressive. Sugimoto moved out of the way of the fight, about thirty meters away from the stage that was the epicenter of the fight. Some of the civilians would follow Sugimoto to the safer distance, some finding places to sit and watch while others stood still with eyes fixed on the tensions rising. He would also see Jiro, Hato and a lot of the other civilians go through a portal to somewhere safe to view the fight. He would've followed but he felt like since he placed himself with the “traitors” lot, he should stand by and witness this fight up close and personal.

The fight would begin and too Sugimoto’s eyes it seemed like the black cloaked figure and Kyson where moving like a blur and Max was standing back looking like he was controlling the black cloaked figure. “Was this what a fight between truly strong shinobi was like?” Sugimoto would think to himself as he tried and failed to even keep track of the fight. This was just a conformation that he needed to get stronger. If they were just testing each other and Sugimoto was incapable of even perceiving their fight, how would he ever be able to hold his own if his enemies were this strong? Sugimoto would just watch the fight and try to learn whatever he could from it. He hoped Max would win this fight so that he would get the opportunity to gain that strength before someone would take his head.  But only time would tell the out come and Sugimoto was resolute to accept whatever that may be.

Hato then noticed the tides changing in favor of Max. As the substitute Raikage went to dodge the poison from Max's puppet, the puppet changed direction and was in his path. Unfortunately, Kyson took in some of the posion and began to get physically weaker. "Kyson's been struck, it's over." Hato noted out loud so the other two would know. Thankfully, Max didn't make any killing moves to finish off Kyson. However, Kyson might had just been hit with some powerful poisons and Max didn't seem to making any moves to get him any aid. Meaning Hato would have to hop into action and get Kyson's butt out of there. She weaved the hand sign for body flicker and zipped over to Kyson's side at top speeds.

ENTERING BACK INTO MAIN TOPIC

It would seem only one made the decision to follow him, Sano perhaps she too saw the advantage of a birds eye view. Most of the civilians had backed up, but not as much as Jiro would have liked. The blonde seemed rather excited for the match, to Jiro this match was one thing. Proof of if or if not Kyson would actually be useful in the fight against this Kenshin. “I don’t know, but I will say if our deputy kage can’t beat a chuunin we are screwed.” There wasn’t a funny tone or even a joking one his voice was flat as if he was dreading the moment Kyson didn’t win.


We aren’t going to beat an anbu of Hoshi with good intent and a plucky attitude. We need a kage a real one. Not someone who picks up the title and abandons it in the same day. An actually strong kage. As Jiro was thinking this the fight got underway it seemed Sugimoto was in awe at the things happening. The puppet produced a black fog and then raced toward the opponent. I wonder if he tries to confront the pupp… Kyson used his fingers to fire a super soaker at the mechanical monstrosity oozing smoke. Why not attack the puppet wielder?


That having not worked the puppet moved in closer and that was it. That was it? Jiro stood dumbfounded by the events. THAT WAS IT?!?!?! Sano would say that Kyson had been struck. He didn’t seem injured and even said “I’ll give you this one.” “Ya, kidding me?” He would utter but Sano had already dashed down the side of the building. To say the least Jiro was not amused or impressed by these events. He is either bluffing about letting him have this or he just gave power to a man weaker than himself, either way not fucking good.

Jiro would merely climb down the side of the building opposite the new raikage and the mass forming. The Uchiha couldn’t congratulate him on a well fought battle when the battle was ended by immediate surrender. Suna all over again, at least this time it wasn’t a girl scout. All Jiro learned from this was he would have to work harder to be ready as their elite wouldn’t cut it. There were more jutsu out there to learn ones that would be necessary for the battles to come. The Uchiha knew his eyes needed more attention than any other part of his arsenal.

The fight was over quickly, Sugimoto could only see blurs and the two shinobi fought. But before he could make heads or tails of the situation Kyson would admit defeat. No one looked hurt, if anything, it looked like neither of them traded blows. “Was this all just a show?” was one of the many thoughts that rushed through Sugimoto’s mind. It was weird that this fight ended so quickly but he was not one to punch a gift horse in the mouth.  Regardless of the duels anticlimactic conclusion a deep sigh of relief would leave Sugimoto's lips. He was glad Max managed to win, now he had no need to fear being executed as a traitor. Sugimoto would now make his way through the gathering crowd to congratulate the new Raikage to his position. 
          
Standing before Max, the relieved shinobi would say “Congrats on your victory. I hope what you said was true and you make Kumo great again.” Sugimoto meant every word of it. He prayed that Max was half the leader he claimed could be. The young shinobi looked forward to see what type of place this old and new home would now become under this new leadership. But only time could tell and sadly, that was something Kumo did not have. The missing ninja will be attacking soon and the new Raikage’s mantle will be heavy with all that responsibility.
