A Flame's First Light Empty A Flame's First Light

Fri Mar 29, 2019 11:09 pm
The brisk air of the night filled his lungs as he walked through the dunes of the sands that sat outside of the village gates. As he stepped into the clearing that would be the beginning of the causeway, he noticed a few things as a falcon perched on his shoulder and chirped somewhat concerned about the decor of the once fabled village," It is alright little one...no danger shall befall us here... I think," the coal eyes slowly moved from left to right as his head turned to search for people. From his meager sense he couldn't pick anything up, but with his nose? He could pick up the presence of blood and battle. This was no stranger to him as he had a myriad of experience with it, but as he walked forward he could see the cascading flow of blood that mixed with the sands of the earth as it created a motif of carnage. He didn't flinch nor shy away from it as he took small steps forward and slowly pressed his hands into the small patch of clean sand that was right in front of him. As his hands shifted deeper into it he could feel it. The tremors of the battle just hours or more before his arrival.

The feeling of each movement and pressure made his body ache as he fought off the large influence of rage that dwells deep within him, but after a moment of deep breathes he returned to normal and stood up looking over to his companion," Take to the skies and tell me what you see my friend. Please return safely," to which the falcon chirped and took to the skies over the village. Standing tall he pulled the tattered cloak over his body, the freyed bottoms bellowing in the wind as he took careful, slow steps toward the bloodied gates. Once he arrived, he stood there looking from the outside in anticipation of who would come to greet this young male.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Sun Mar 31, 2019 6:26 pm
The scent of ash lifted across the night breeze, carrying the remnants of battle over the vast desert dunes. The moon shone brightly overhead, illuminating the sands with soft kisses of light. Amaterasu Meijin was perched on the walls of the once populous village. Her form was mostly hidden in between the skewered corpses of the ninja, though it would have been visible to a skilled eye. Acid yellow eyes surveyed the world around her. She touched a splintering spike next to her, running it below her fingers and seemingly memorizing the texture. She remained this way for a few minutes before a flicker of movement caught her attention. In the sky above, something moved. She assumed it to be a bird of prey- a hawk, a falcon, perhaps an eagle. But it obviously hadn't come from the village- she hadn't noticed it exit, and it seemed to be heading TOWARDS Sunagakure. Was someone else here?... Well, that was good for her. Kenshin had asked her to keep watch at the gates. Any Kumogakure or returning Sunagakure shinobi were to be slaughtered on sight, but anyone interested in joining their cause... Well, they were to be taken straight to the head honcho himself.

She walked down the walls skillfully, keeping an eye on the deserts in front of her. Someone must've been out there. She needed her sight, and to draw attention in a relatively non-threatening manner. Amaterasu waved through five hand seals at around half of her maximum speed- enough to be timely, but not quite fast enough to prove hostile intent. Next, she raised her right hand. Sparks leapt from her fingers, quickly igniting into a small, fiercely burning sphere of flame. It cast eerie blue light across the desert, but she did not intent to launch the technique. No, it was merely a source of illumination. In the distance, a figure caught her eye- a young man who approached the bloodied gates. With her remaining hand, she twitched her fingers in a crude imitation of a wave. "A nice night for a stroll, hm?" a look of piercing interest ignited in her eyes before she continued. "The aroma of the desert, the peaceful solitude..." she pat a spiked corpse next to her, causing its arm to fall off to the ground below. She would then give a small tilt of the head, listening to his response- if he gave any, of course.

"Tell me, do you know why the sun rises?" she would then ask. "Of course, you could take that literally- an incomprehensibly massive ball of hydrogen and nuclear fusion." A pause. "Every day, the sun rises... and then it sets. It is an endless cycle that many have tried to delay or prevent altogether, yet it is inevitable. If you will, the sun is setting on the empire of Kumogakure." The cycle, of course, represented life and death. She hoped she wouldn't need to spell it out for the man in front of her, but he seemed intelligent enough. "On the other hand..." her palm dropped from the sky, leaving the blue orb of flame hovering in place. "...It rises on us. Tell me," she began. "Who are you? Are you a man who will try and fight the sunrise, or relish in the morning light?"

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Tue Apr 02, 2019 9:54 pm
As the male stood there something began feeling...off for him. As the moon peaked from the lips of the clouds, at first being mistaken as a simple flickering flame but as a voice began to seep from somewhere his eyes would begin to slowly search for its source. Quick senses would pick up on the form and his hands would move only slightly as a defensive measure, but once he had seen that this person whether it was male or female was of no serious threat he slowly relaxed. The blue hue of the light that would begin to penetrate his vision of the night. Curious how this light was blue in nature when one could only hear tales of a monster that bellowed flames of blue, which made his inner rage question if this would be a good fight for him.

Shaking the thought from his mind he tilted his head for a moment and shrugged to her first question," A night is just a night. I found myself here in this...carnival of blood and gore on a whim. Seems like something happened to this village yet again. You don't seem to bothered by it so you had a hand in it? Or are you one of those connoisseurs of carnage?," his brow raised in question of the one he could now identify as a woman. With a small swoop, the bird slowly landed on his right shoulder and looked over to it with a smile. He didn't say anything, but he certainly nodded to it as if it had said something to him and began to rub its crest gently. A few small but pleasant chirps left its beat before falling silent at the situation at hand.

As she began to monologue, he simply stared at her. The smile he had once was slowly fading as he caught the subtle but blatant hints at something he might not have wanted a part of. None the less he began to slowly take in her words, the whole while his body began taking in more and more of the worlds essence. The male shook his head and took in a small cold breath before answering," What I want is of no concern to you nor is my name, for like the fleeting wind it holds its own secrets and I do not know you. For me to give you something so binding would be setting myself up for death or worse. The only answer you will get from me is that I am someone who is preventing the thrall of the moonlight from overtaking them," there was a small pause before he added in a last line," And its also rude to ask for one's name before giving ones own."

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Sun Apr 28, 2019 6:59 am
If one were to look closely they would take note of the familiar form of The Ragdoll sitting calmly amongst the corpses field of corpses that he had created around the entrance of the village. He supposed it was only natural that neither the young wolf or the stranger had noticed him just yet, he was sitting on the second layer of the villages grand staircase while they were on the ground floor after-all. He had mostly come here to keep an eye on his favourite little protege while she made herself useful, not because he didn’t trust her but because he didn’t want to risk losing her should something unexpected happen. For the time being he was only keeping his sharp sense of hearing trained on what was happening below, the vast majority of his attention being directed towards both the celestial body gleaming in the sky and the almost endless seas of sand of Wind Country. Truly the beauty of Haven Country paled in comparison to Wind Country, or at least it was in the eyes of the conqueror of Sunagakure. Where Haven seemed to be a mixture of desert and plains Wind was nothing more than an endless expanse of desert, where Haven seemed to be a harsh land tamed by those who lived there Wind was anything but. Sunagakure was one of two true settlements in the entire country, and of the two it was the only one that still remained due to the actions of Maku when he stormed the capital and beheaded the Daimyo. Compared to the other countries the Capital of Wind had been little more than a small village due to it’s incredibly small population, something that in turn left the country much poorer than the others… yet despite how poor the country itself was Sunagakure had somehow risen to the ranks of the great villages.

Perhaps the unforgiving cruelty of the land that they called home made the shinobi produced there hardier than others, the sheer adversity of the place that they called home honing them into fighters of equal standing as the other great nations despite everything else. The idea was one that resonated deeply with The Immortal due to the adversity that he had faced throughout his life, and he had little doubt in his mind that it at the very least played a hand in the level of strength that he now held. The almost mind numbing agony that he had been put through at the hands of those he trusted… the unending suffering that the deaths of those he cared had inflicted upon his soul… the everlasting torture that was his life… all of it played a part in shaping what he had become… a weapon tempered by the flames of hell. The Ragdoll wasn’t even sure that he could be considered fully human anymore… he had been at one point but he had been broken beyond repair. He had taken the broken pieces that remained and cobbled together something that vaguely resembled a human… but he had long since accepted that he would never truly be the same as others. He was different, something that was entirely less than human… yet something that he personally found to be far superior. Perhaps that thought was arrogant, perhaps it wasn’t… or perhaps it was simply the inane ramblings of a madman that had been broken so completely that not even he could fully comprehend it... he didn’t know and he simply couldn’t find it within himself to care.

The small smile on his scarred face would shift into an amused smirk as he took in the words of the little wolf down below, the likening of Kumogakure’s fall to the sun setting was oddly poetic and something that he personally wouldn’t have expected from the child. He felt she was being a tad rash in asking whether the man intended to fight the sunset or bask in the ‘morning light’ alongside them, she had no way of knowing whether the man was a simple trader after-all. He would resist the urge to chuckle when the unknown male began to speak, denying his protege in both her request for his name and what his intentions were in a manner even more poetic than her little speech. The silver haired reaper would wait to hear the response from his favourite disciple but nothing came… strange, doubly so considering his sharp hearing hadn’t heard the man attempt anything nor had he sensed the mans chakra fluctuate in a way that may denote a jutsu being used. He would give a small sigh as he pushed himself up from his seated position and peered down at the pair below, figuring it would be best for him to see for himself whether the male had attempted to do anything to the girl that he had grown rather fond of. Seeing nothing wrong Kenshin would simply allow a small frown to come to face, taking a single silent step forward and stepping directly off the stone, allowing himself to fall silently through the air and towards the ground like a spectre in the night.

His landing was as silent as the fall itself, his legs barely bending as they met the soft sand below only a meter to the left of Amaterasu. He would allow an arm to extend and come to rest on her shoulder, something that he was hoping would free her from whatever daze she seemed to be in. Whether it worked or not he would turn his attention towards the new arrival, his silver eyes as cold as ever as they gazed at the young man who was attempting to enter his village. He didn’t seem to be a trader but neither did he appear to be a shinobi, his chakra signature was certainly more powerful than an average civilians but weaker than the girl whose shoulder his arm rested upon. He didn’t appear to be either nervous or fearful despite the rather macabre scene that he hand found himself in… all in all odd but nothing truly special, someone who was more than likely just a simply traveller and little more than a curiosity to The Immortal. Still, if this newcomer did intend to enter the village then Kenshin would need to know a little more about what he had planned during his stay, caution never hurt anyone after-all, and he wouldn’t put it past Kumogakure to send or hire people to scout the village that they had lost.

“Rude perhaps but you must realise that you are the visitor here. As you can likely tell from our surroundings there has been some conflict around here recently and we simply cannot allow just anyone to enter without being certain of their intentions.” The taller man would state simply, his frown having turned into an amused smirk just before the words began to leave his mouth.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:54 am
Silence. It had befallen the two so quickly that the male had been kind of confused about what had been going on, maybe she had been stumped by his words? It was certainly an interesting forethought yet that couldn't have been the case. His eyes went to the flickering orb of fire that sat beside him, unaware of the eyes that had been watching him. The hawk that had been sitting on his shoulder sat silently as if it was simply a bystander in this and nothing more, wanting to make sure its friend was alright and not in any pain. Of course the downside to that was simply Gennosuke being in a constant fight of dominance of himself. He made no moves from his present position and crossed his arms in boredom before giving a hefty sigh. Maybe she was nothing more than a slight inconvenience that would prevent him from coming into the village in a quiet, peaceful manner but things never went this easy.

The moment he thought of taking a step forward a sliver of shadow moved in the corners of his vision and he halted. Eyes slowly turned to the left of the female as the body he slowly seen move into place rested an arm around the female in front of him. If the girl was a flame, then whoever this was the object that smothered flames. Even though he stood towering over the female, Gennosuke's eyes met his and stood his ground. This man had a feeling that even made his hawk go crazy, but with a small stroke under the beak he assured the avian creature which soon went silent. As the male in front of him spoke, a small smirk played upon his lips as his arms slowly crossed," And you are the conqueror that brought the tides of blood upon this land...I can only surmise by your decanter and you reek of death," nothing that he had not witnessed or done himself...a monster looking into another monsters eyes.

For a moment he debated on simply turning and leaving, the fact that this would not be an atmosphere that would allow him growth from his affliction...it would only feed it further until he was succumbed by it all. Favor was not on his side however as it was two vs one and even in his enhanced state this would proved folly for him. A small turn of the gears only showed that successful entry would only come if he complied somewhat...so he would," Hiroshi. I am a simple traveler designated the name Hiroshi and like i've told your little flame here... I am simply preventing the thrall of the moonlight from overtaking me, nothing more. Nothing less," of course there was more to this tale than he wanted to let on. Giving his true name would without a doubt alienate his origins, but if this one wasn't privy to minor village information...it could very well play into his hands.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Thu May 02, 2019 7:20 pm
The Ragdolls silver eyes had narrowed when the stranger correctly deduced that he had been the one behind the massacre. He had been intentionally vague when mentioning the troubles that Suna had suffered during his conquest, yet the man had correctly surmised that he had been the one behind said troubles. What made him truly suspicious of the man was the title that he had given him… conqueror, the implications of how the man knew this running through The Immortals mind. He doubted that Kumogakure would be spreading the news of a single man taking the greatest prize of their empire from them… and the excuse that the man gave for the knowledge rang hollow. Kenshin considered his hygiene to be of the utmost importance, so much so that he made it a point to both shower and use the chakra cleanse technique multiple times throughout any one day, so he simply couldn’t see how he ‘reeked of death’. Perhaps the man had meant it in the spiritual sense and was referring to the chakra signature of the pale spectre… but even that excuse didn’t work due to the ring that he wore on his left index finger. Maybe the man was simply a poor spy sent by Kumogakure… it would certainly explain most of the questions that he had.

He had activated his Minds Eye of the Kagura after the suspicious greeting the man had given, and as such he was able to feel the minor fluctuations in the mans chakra as he lied about his name… yet another strike against him, and that was all Kenshin needed. Even in the darkness of the desert night, shadowed from the light of the moon by the great and imposing walls of Suna, the little liar would be able to see the deep purple aura that began to seep forth from the skin of the one he had dubbed conqueror. The silver haired reapers chakra had been enhanced to truly monstrous levels by his Cell Enhancement and the activation of his eyes, and as such the killing intent that flooded the surrounding area would be even more potent than it usually was. Visions of his own increasingly gruesome deaths would begin to play through the mind of the lying stranger, Amaterasu being shielded as Kenshin directed all of his monstrous killing intent on the fool that stood before the pair (227 stats to resist this effect). After what would feel like an eternity for the stranger, and was closer to a minute for Kenshin and Amaterasu, The Ragdoll would cease the projection of his power. The mans mismatched and now ominously glowing eyes would simply focus on the man, not a trace of anger nor joy able to be found within them… they were simply blank.

“Lie to me again and I will add your corpse to the rest.” The S-rank Missing-Nin would say in a chilling tone, his threat backed up by the killing intent that had just left the area and the deep, eerie glow of his mismatched eyes.

“Let’s try this again shall we. Who are you and why have you come here?” The man would then ask, his face still as blank as ever as he regarded the insect that stood before him.

He was ready to crush the stranger should they attempt to lie again, or if they decided to do anything stupid in retaliation for his previous actions. He had been tempted to do it the moment that the man had lied, but then he would have learned nothing about why the man was here… and if he was indeed a spy sent by the village he had taken his prize from then killing him would be a waste. If the man was a shinobi sent from one of the other villages as a spy his fate would be the same, tortured for information until Kenshin grew bored and simply tore him mind apart as he simply took it by force. If he was simply a foolish traveler or even another Missing-Nin then Kenshin likely wouldn’t care if he entered, so long as he understood that any efforts made against Sunagakure and it’s new ruler would result in his swift and painful demise.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Fri May 03, 2019 1:01 pm
Something struck the man as odd for a moment as he observed the taller male and in that he knew something was wrong. As the purple aura seeped from the darkness and into the light, fear of death and dismemberment began to flow through Hiroshi's mind. Unfortunately as the fear began to reach into the darkest depths of his mind, in its conquest it also released the restraint he had on himself. As the male dropped to his knees, his body began to shake uncontrollably and even to the man in front of him it would seem odd. The chakra that his body had been taking in from his surroundings almost unconsciously would begin to leak from his body in trails as he fought to control himself, and he knew that this would result in him finally meeting his end...but every person has their tipping point. The man was not lying when he said he was here to keep from the thrall of the moonlight.

It wasn't a metaphor for his captors or a village, the thrall was his own insanity. The pure bloodlust that caused him to murder the settlement he was ridiculed in. As he reeled on his knees a protrusion of horns began to peek from his forehead curving upwards and stopping, the elongated horns were but the first of his transformation as he slowly stood to his feet, eyes glazed with only one thing in mind - Destruction. The male's hands and feet most notably his toes and fingers became slightly elongated as well, nails growing out three inches longer than they normally would. The people in his old home likened them to razors meant only for the rending of flesh from ones bone, but to this person he stood in front of they would be his end. What was once a scream for control became silent as he stood slouched over, a small trail of breath escaping from his lips before the explosion of pure nature chakra erupted from his body followed by a laugh.

The monster was finally free and in his sight two more that would join his count of bodies," Tonight the sands drink of more blood and my hand are once again stained with the blood of those who dare ridicule me," the voice of the male that had once been deep, but soft now rang loud and almost fueled by anger. Without a moments notice Gennosuke Hiroshi was bolting toward the duo, his eyes no longer on the girl, but on the male beside her. His right hand as he reached three meters of the male would stretch outward aiming to not only grab whatever he could, but throw him into the ground and begin to pummel him with no restraint. A beast with no concept of tactics or technique was all that remained as the young male was replaced with his Hyde.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Sun May 05, 2019 9:26 am
Kenshin would watch in silent amusement as the little liar dropped to his knees and began to shake violently in response to his little display. The reaction was quite a bit different to the usual ones he received when he did the same to others, but everybody had different reactions to death and this one wasn’t one that The Immortal considered to be strange. What did make him stop however was the transformation that he could both see and feel the man undergoing, it was quite faint but there was no mistaking the energy that he could feel from within the man… Natural Energy. It was something that The Ragdoll had only discovered fairly recently, shortly after his conquest of Sunagakure itself… and since that time he had learnt to both control it and recognize the feeling it gave, something that he most certainly didn’t feel from the man shaking in front of him. The transformation he underwent was also quite different to what Kenshin had experienced the first time he had used it to enhance himself, he had simply gained some markings over his body… he hadn’t suddenly spouted horns or had his nails thicken and grow until they resembled talons.

As the man stood the half-blood would continue to watch the situation before him unfold, simply curious to see what became of the man with this little nature enhanced power up. He didn’t feel to be anything remotely close to a threat and there was something strange yet familiar about the power that he seemed to wield. The chuckle that escaped his lips amused the albino but not quite as much as the expulsion of nature energy from his body mere moments later. Perhaps such a display would be impressive to Amaterasu, who was still rather new to the ways of the shinobi, but to one as powerful as he it was nothing… simply a child puffing out his chest while proclaiming to be strong. It was his words that caused Kenshin to release the hold he had on his laughter, the deep and smooth sound echoing down the crevice that they stood before and out into the emptiness of the night. He supposed that if nothing else the man was amusing, a thought that was confirmed when he started to charge recklessly in towards the still laughing reaper. He would do nothing to stop the fool as he continued to move in, the eerily glowing Sharingan implanted in Kenshin’s left eye watching the man carefully as he approached at what seemed to the laughing man as a snail's pace.

The silver haired man knew could have killed the berserk fool in hundreds of increasingly unpleasant ways as he continued to close the short distance between them… but he didn’t, only because he was curious about the strange affinity to natural chakra that he had been exhibiting. It felt… different to his own use, and that alone made him wish to spare the man… if only so that he could examine it more thoroughly in the future and find out what exactly was going on. As the man's outstretched hand got within 30cm of him that he would act, the speed of his sudden movement so great that he doubted either Amaterasu or his weak attacker would be able to see it. He would move to the right of the outstretched arm, his left hand rising up beneath the extended appendage and shooting for his throat. Assuming this action worked Kenshin would use his superior strength to lift the man off the ground and simply slam downwards, all the while activating his Added Weight Rock as the man approached the ground to make the impact more debilitating. Provided that all of these actions went through The Ragdoll would simply chuckle down at the now incapacitated attacker, a look of condescension in his eyes as his pale lips parted.

“You will need to be far stronger than that if you wish to make me bleed.” he would state with a light chuckle, his pale hand still clutching the mans throat lightly, just enough to remind him that he could and would kill him whenever he wished.

“The only reason that you still breathe is because you interest me but I can’t tell how coherent you are in this state… so speak, lest I grow bored and simply end you.” The Immortal would then state, a small smirk on his face as his eyes started frostily down at the chestnut haired man.

If the man was paying attention then he would feel the nature energy being drained from his body at an almost alarming rate, the cause being none other than Kenshin as he awaited the mans words. The energy within the man felt… strange, to say the least. Unlike the Uzumaki, who found the energy to be extremely peaceful when he absorbed it…  the nature chakra within this man felt, for lack of a better word, wild… untamed.

Could this perhaps be the reason for his sudden aggression? The Ragdoll supposed he would discover that in time… perhaps when the man finally decided to open his mouth.

A Flame's First Light Empty Re: A Flame's First Light

Sat May 11, 2019 9:46 pm
That was it. The loud precarious laughter of the berserker soon fell to silence as he hit the ground, his body creating such a force it caused a small crater to form beneath him. Air rapidly escaped from his lungs and lips as he clawed and reached for the one oppressing him. Was the difference in power between them that he failed? The beast continued to snarl and scratch until the male had spoke, his power slowly draining from him which made the transformation slowly regress into his normal state. Claws and nails slowly retracted and became normal while one of the horns and his teeth remained. A weird abomination sat within the crater slowly returning to normal he would stare up at the male as the words slowly filled his head.

A small cough came from him as he sighed and looked almost defeated, but not by this monster. No he felt defeated because he allowed the beast to come out," I can understand you just fine... This was what I meant. That which I become when the energy becomes to unbearable that I cannot fight it any longer. It turns me into a monster, a beast without conscience and without remorse. I stay to myself to prevent the past from continuously repeating itself...," he didn't care to stare into the man's eyes because the tainted eyes of the berserker meant nothing to him, however the question remained was he going to elaborate on his curse? Or simply allude to it and keep it a secret for later.
