Talking With Vergil and other Genin
Fri Sep 27, 2019 2:29 pm
Tanjiro was walking around the training ground he wanted to train but he felt dejected. The village of Konoha kept giving him lame missions that felt boring and lackluster. Tanjiro wanted to do something different. He was unsure of what "different" entailed but he knew what he was doing now was certainly not it. He wanted to see some real change, he needed to get stronger so he could kill his fammilies murder. But nothing has pushed him to really improve. So feeling lost Tanjiro found himself wandering aimlessly around the training grounds.
The rage that seemed ever present in Tanjiro’s mind would swell to the point that he wanted to just destroy something. That was when the ever present shape of a wooden pole would catch his eye. So he would make his way to the unlucky Training dummy .Standing before the lifeless wooden dummy Tanjiro would vent some of his frustration upon it. Getting into a proper fighting stance, with his legs shoulder with apart. Tanjiro would let off a quick flurry of blows. The training dummy’s wood would creak and crack with each decisive blow. Tanjiro’s fists picking up speed as each hit different parts of the training dummy.
Each spot on the wood would represent a different body part of a person standing before him of similar size. Tanjiro would visualize this in his mind as he delivered each solid strike.
This hit would strike a shoulder while Tanjiro would use footwork to dodge an imaginary counter strike. The next blow would strike at the now exposed weak spot his training dummy opponent would give to him. His fist clenched in a closed palm strike would knock off a whole chunk of wood from side of the training dummy.
Tanjiro would follow through with an elbow guard and continued entrainment of the training dummy. While Pulling back his palm striking hand he would poison himself to a quick low kick to the training dummy’s imaginary legs. With the training dummy off balance Tanjiro would lay a quick succession of three decisive strikes. These strikes targeted the imaginary training dummies neck, soloplex and kidney. Each strike hit with enough force to make the wood splinter.
Tanjiro’s breathing would be a little heavier after all the physical exertion. He liked this feeling, being lost in the moment. Tanjiro could forget everything else that existed and just focus on what he was doing. He would continue to train on the training dummy till it could barely be used anymore.

The sun was hanging high over the sky on this particular day, baking everything nested beneath it with Fahrenheit temps ranging in the 90's, as the only relief anyone was able to receive was from the shade of the many trees surrounding the Leaf Village. Walking along a shaded path that lead towards the training field, coattails flapping to the small cooling breeze flowing through the air, Vergil was making his way towards the field as he usually did these days. There was a lot riding on the next couple of weeks for him as he needed to get as strong as possible for the Chuunin exams and if he had to come to the field even in the blistering heat it's what he was going to have to do.
Crossing the threshold Vergil was surprised to see he wasn't the only one there. Usually he always was lucky enough to be the only one on the field as he trained which usually gave him the entirety of the field to work with. He saw this other individual practicing their taijutsu, rather angrily it seemed, on a dummy a bit of a ways away. Taking notice of such nature he decided it was probably best he kept his distance as he made for the opposite direction to a more open area of the field.
He had decided preemptively before coming here that giving his chakra a little bit of a work out was the best way to proceed with today's training and usually the best way of doing so, as he had been taught in class, was either by meditation or using jutsu. He didn't know many jutsus to work with nor did he feel like sitting on the ground for a few minutes to hours so he thought that maybe trying out some low level stuff would exert his chakra enough for a warm up. He had been hoping to learn a few high level stuff today anyway so getting his chakra burning and ready to go was going to be vital.
He would thus stab the sheathed katana into the ground beside him before bringing his hands up and concentrating. He could feel the chakra rising up his esophagus to meet his lips as he took in a deep breath and aimed his face towards the sky before exhaling outward. The result would be a large stream of flames shooting out of his mouth to form something that looked a bit like a geyser before Vergil would concentrate to make the geyser transform into a large ball of fire that shot towards the sky.
Directly afterwards Vergil would then form a few more seals before taking in another breath and blowing outwards multiple times to cause several smaller fireballs to erupt from his mouth that soared upwards beside the much larger central one. Relaxing himself upon doing such a feat Vergil would then watch as the fireballs soared higher upwards before suddenly exploding into sparks in the sky and harmless embers floated along the wind.
He could feel his chakra burning up as he allowed it to rest before summoning it again. Closing his eyes he focused on the flow of energy within him to see if he could do the same technique combo again as he would stand and meditate for a spell before doing anything else.

The time for the chuunin exams slowly came into fruition as the male counted down the days and nights until the anticipated event was finally upon him. For this he prepared day and night, constantly training his mind and body for the eventual taste of victory. He had lost in his last attempt for Chuunin just before the attack on the Leaf. That was most of the reason he had wanted to become stronger in all honesty, but the drive to become stronger now rested with the fact that he simply wanted to be stronger than those that fell. His friends and family that perished in the attack, he would soon become enough of a force to stand above them. For now however he settled with the satisfaction of getting strong enough for this exams. Byakura would currently be jogging through the village at a decent pace, keeping his breathing regulated and his pulse at a base level just to keep himself from overexerting. His jogging took him to the outermost part of the village toward the training grounds, a place he honestly rarely went to unless it was early in the morning or late in the night. During the day it was usually filled with a lot of other ninja and shinobi training, but for some reason today he felt compelled to go in.
At the apex of his jogging he stopped for a moment looking around at the few going about training, one of which he had recognized and another he did not. From his perspective one was practicing some sort of fire based ninjutssu, his assumption coming from the fact that most ninjutsu from what he knew that dealt with fire were of a ninjutsu prospective. That and one of his closest friends were quite the arsonist with Fire ninjutsu. It was always weird watching others wield it in a manner that didn't directly get someone caught on fire. Wiping himself free of sweat and water with the small towel he had with him, Byakura looked at the others for a moment and sort of waited before speaking to them.

The heat of the day along with the effort Tanjiro was putting into training would cause sweet to pour down his face. It stung his eyes but he endured and kept training. Tanjiro’s goal was to push himself and try to rid himself of the yips. Tanjiro has yet to admit this to a single living soul, but he can not use his steel release at the moment. Ever since he came home to find his family brutally murdered, Tanjiro has been unable to reach the state of mind that lets him manipulate steel.
One’s mind, body and soul must be in perfect harmony to achieve the proper state for steel release techniques. He felt so out of balance that it was hard to concentrate. Meditating every night before bed and again in the morning seemed to do little to calm the troubled shinobi. This was one of the main sources of Tanjiro’s prickly personality. He lost more than just his family that day, he also lost a part of himself. It did not seem to matter what Tanjiro did to regain composure, it always seemed to slip in between his fingers.
Tanjiro would give the training dummy one last large hit that nearly shattered the already heavily battered training dummy. He felt a little calmer now that he vented some of his frustration. But what started heating up his ire was the fact that waves of heat would waft from one of the other shinobi in the training ground. “Why would someone be using so much fire jutsu when it is so damn hot out?” Tanjiro would think to himself. He would sit back and watch the other shinobi spit out fire balls into the air. It was quite the impressive display of one’s power and vary interesting to watch.
Steel release techniques require both earth element and fire element. So maybe if he reconnected with the fire element by working with this guy he could maybe break free of this yip. But Tanjiro needed to figure out how to approach the other shinobi. Tanjiro’s personality was to put it lightly rough at best and at worst he can be a downright asshole. So if he wanted help from this other shinobi, it might be to his benefit to not be a complete ass hat to the other guy.
Tanjiro would wait until the other shinobi stopped shooting fireballs into the sky before he approached him. Once the Shinobi stopped, Tanjiro would stomp his way over to the trench coat wearing shinobi. Using the nicest tone Tanjiro would muster he would ask “Hey, fire breather, would you be willing to go over with me some of the fire element basics? I could use a touch up and it seems you may be proficient in it.” Tanjiro would wait and listen to what the trench coat shinobi would say.

This was proving to be a very beneficial way of training for Vergil. The hot day was a bit of a detriment but it also helped his chakra to acclimate and become more proficient in his fire style. Upon seeing the explosion of a third fireball he had shot out, however, his training would be interrupted as he could hear the sound of feet clearly stomping along the ground for whatever reason towards him from the side. He would look over upon hearing such angry sounding walking as he saw the ninja he had seen previously smacking the training logs so furiously making his way towards him.
Vergil's katana was still stuck in the ground beside him as he watched this stranger walking to him cautiously. It wasn't as though the guy was about to attack him out of the blue but, based off of all the signs the guy was giving, he felt he might not have been having the best day and thus was about to try and take his anger out on Vergil. However Vergil would show no emotion as he watched him make his way closer to stand a bit of a ways away from Vergil and ask him something Vergil wasn't expecting.
Vergil always was a believer in not wasting any time and getting to the point and this one wasted no time in asking for knowledge on fire style. This was new to him. The only time he had ever been asked by someone to give them a better understanding of a jutsu or a technique of some kind it was back in the academy. Having to teach a person already a ninja might've been a bit more than he could chew but, since the guy asked nicely, he wasn't really the type of person to turn away and say no. Heck he had to train in order to acclimate the fire element into his chakra nature so this should've been a cinch. He would thus turn to face the ninja, trying to come up with a good way of how to explain it, before he spoke.
"Very well then... The process of learning how to take in a second element is rather quite simple: meditate on the chakra within you and picture it taking on that of the properties of another element. In this case fire... Simply picture your chakra nature within you and try and set it ablaze into something that boils and bubbles with heat. You can even use the heat around you to help you. Once you feel as though your chakra within you is literally on fire form the tiger seal, take a deep breath, and exhale with force. If you manage to blow out something even as tiny as embers you're on the right track."
He didn't know if he had explained as best as he probably could have but he basically had given the gist of how he first came to learn the element. Upon finishing speaking he would wait to see what the ninja did while looking over to see that they were not alone. Another he didn't recognize was standing a ways away watching them as Vergil turned back to watch Tanjiro to see what he'd do.

From the looks of it the two of them would be training among themselves dealing with the fire element, the male on the other hand had something else to do in the meantime while they messed with such a volatile element. A few meters from him laid a set of training dummies usually used for taijutsu practitioners to train, but Byakura was going to use it for a little more than that. Setting his towel to the side he would size up the dummy for a moment taking in where each of the limbs were, their lengths and widths before pushing one. Taking small moves toward it he would begin slowly, taking each step as it were his first. After a few moment or two his movements would become a little jarred and erratic allowing the dummy to come close to hitting him before moving at the last second. His movements seemed to be a little unorthodoxed for someone that wasn't used to fighting close ranged, but that was what this practice was for.
As he moved he would slam his palm into the center of the dummy, his arms swinging to meet and stop the arms of the dummy as it swiveled about. The lower pegs would be stepped over or blocked with a knee or foot as the male danced with it, letting a barrage of water loose from his palm which only moved the dummy a few centimeters. The force of it however slowly began to crack and whittle down the dummy before he had stopped, catching himself in the act and gently smiling. His intention was to simply warm up, but in the process he might have just came up with something that he would definitely experiment with later. If he could devise a technique that worked similar to his Water Gun technique then maybe there wouldn't be a need to fear close ranged combat. On the other hand he could also devise a technique that would also take away the need to fight closer...but that would be something he would need to experiment with.
Feeling the impact area of the dummy he would discern that the pressure of the water that he had pushed into it caused the structure itself to dent, but was it the water pressure or his strength that caused it to do so? He curiously hummed to himself as he continued to look at it while also paying attention to the two that were behind him. It would seem that they were still deep in their fire training so he opted not to bother them just yet. He knew water like the back of his hand so he went with the assumption that it was water pressure that caused the area to warp and bend, though it could have easily been both. The male would shrug for a moment as he pulled his hand away and into one of his pockets as he thought to himself," A little more testing wouldn't hurt though if it comes out to be case number one then maybe I can make similar jutsu to it," the inward thought caused his brows to furrow, but the amber eyes remained on the dummy for a few more moments.

After a few moments he had decided that nothing had been going on with the current situation, the other two genin simply sitting in what seemed like to him as slow motion. They had not made any moves since they had started their fire release training which sort of disappointed the young Hozuki because wanted to see how it would go. None the less he picked up his towel and began to head out of the training grounds and back into the village. Byakura would leave those two to whatever they had been doing at the time, not bothering them or alerting them that he had been leaving. There was no real reason to even bother them given that only one of them were aware of his presence. It seemed like a good chance as any to start up a conversation, but he didn't mind just leaving as well. As he left the training grounds, Byakura would take the same route he took to get there, this time making a few stops to get some food for his family for dinner and fruit for himself. Seeing as his training had been cut short he thought it owuld be good to do his errands before going home.
