Clean up that damn sand!

Mission Details:

Today’s day promised to be a good day. He almost made it to the beach. Everyone kept talking about how cool the beach was, how they loved the beach, baking in the sun. For some reason, that went over the young Terumi’s head. The only thing that appealed to Kazushi about going to the beach had been dunking himself in salty water. He noticed how it cleared his airwaves and made him feel better altogether. He only liked cold water showers, after all.

The night’s feverish dream reminded him about the importance of keeping inventory. Because of that, he bought a “starter pack” promotion at the Kirigakure store. God bless promotions and merchants willing to discount their goods.

Willing to sell his time for more sweet ryo, Kazushi Terumi made his way to the Mission Board office. He found that the office delegated him with cleaning the shore streets. Complaints about sand were pouring and the ninja office took that upon themselves. Immediately, the youth lost his appetite for ryo, and wanted nothing to do with the ninja world. But he relented.

His assigned street was a short but winding street, which hugged a short but vast swath of beach. This didn’t bode well for the youth; add to that the fact that the day had short bursts of wind here and there. Still, he marched off the office, thick bristled broom in hand, ready to sweep away at the sands. He tucked a pair of thick gloves to his belt. He took off.

One might thing it was a lesser task for ninja to swipe the streets, and so did Kazushi. Yet, as the day progressed, he would notice that sweeping the streets had a lot of advantages. At the very beginning, an elder looked at him work. He took a short break to observe the elder, and in return, the elder smiled and waved at him. Kazushi felt weird about the elder smiling at him, but the elder later went his way. Further down the street, a shopkeeper asked if he was thirsty and offered some orange juice. Gratitude and refreshment washed over the boy, mending body and soul. The glass was so cold it robbed the glove of its heat. He thanked the shopkeeper, and she in turn thanked him for sweeping the sands. As it turned out, it made for impractical ground to carry groceries, and his service would help her. He hadn't thought of that, but thanked the drink once again and returned the glass.

As the day moved along and the task became easier and easier, he interacted with more people along the road. A couple of girls invited him to go to the beach later, which he declined. He was unsure how to interact with girls, but he was more unsure what they saw in him to begin with. He paid no mind to it, at least for now.

He returned to the ninja office by twilight, the street well swiped. He returned the tools he had been lent, took his payment, and made back home. In his mind, calculations happened to figure what he would spend this salary on.

I'm counting 527 words here. I know, I know, 4 words isn't a ton to overlook, and I feel a little bad for not doing it, but it sets a bad precedent.

Let's take 4 words off of Body Flicker, or Temporary paralysis if you prefer I suppose.
