Pushing The Limits Empty Pushing The Limits

Sun Jan 12, 2020 7:53 pm
The sun was out and Hiroaki had his back to a tree. The young missing ninja was chewing on a long strand of grass he had plucked from the ground. Looking out Hiroaki can see the beautiful ocean that surrounded the island of Fang. It splashed violently along the side of the island today. The ends of the waves cut off and spewed a little onto Hiroaki’s face ever so slightly. To the right of Hiroaki came Taichi. Hiroaki would greet the friend he had met in the bar that one drunken night.

“It’s times like these that make me glad I ran away”, he stated. That’s all of Hiroaki’s past that he would share with Taichi. Turning around he sliced the tree he had been leaning on with his katana. The tree fell down opposite to the end of the cliff that lead out to the ocean. Hiroaki picked up the tree and began lifting it up and down. Underneath his overcoat, Hiroaki’s muscles strained under the wait of the tree. One, two, three, four…. Hiroaki continued to work out, hardcore. He didn’t know any other way to train himself then going all out.

When he was done with heavy lifting the tree, he would throw it on the ground. He would put one leg on the stump, then the other and back down. “Nothing like breaking a sweat every now and then. Helps relieve stress”, he would say. He fastened the paste at which he was doing his leg stepping. Soon he became huffing from the extraneous workout. This huffing would be interrupted by his coughs. ‘Damn Illness always gets the better of me’, he thought. Hiroaki wouldn’t let that stop him.

Wiping the spittle from the side of his mouth he went and stood the log up. From there he pushed the log back down, moving it over. He repeated this process. Hiroaki did not pull a muscle as he had stretched before he had dazed out into the ocean. Soon enough Hiroaki was done playing with the log. He took out his katana again and cut the log into pieces very thin and small pieces. He picked up the remainders and practiced his shuriken throwing. He skipped the pieces of wood out into the ocean.

The first piece of wood sunk into the ocean and reappeared a moment later. The ocean’s waves carried it against the rocky cliff. Hiroaki tried to better perform his throwing. One plop of the wood turned into one skip, then two, then three and so on. Hiroaki getting warmed up was able to send the pieces of wood pretty far out to where Hiroaki had to practice spotting the pieces of wood out in the ocean of blue. “You can pretty much train with anything. It’s a surprise not many people think like this”, he would remark. Hiroaki saw a lot of people out in the world who only knew how to train with weights. ‘There’s a lot of metalsmiths out in this world and hell if you’re a fire user you can smelt your own weights if you concentrate the flame enough, but there are times you won’t have the people or materials. You got to be able to work with what you have -- and steal when you don’t’, thought Hiroaki. He smirked at that last bit of thought.

Already being at the edge of the cliff Hiroaki focused. He started to feel the chakra going throughout his body. He felt the tug of energy moving this way and that. He focused on it from the bottom, letting it rise to the top. He practiced weaving his signs and trained in his water ninjutsu. He would weave the Ram sign and bring his hand to his mouth to spew out a wave of water. He would practice this many times over, in short bursts to conserve a lot of his energy to perfect the execution before he goes bigger. Eventually one of his coughs would interrupt him causing him to lean back and breath a bit.

Hiroaki turned his head to Taichi. “You specialize in a lot of water elements, right? Care to go for some?”, he’d ask. Hiroaki would motion his hand out to the sea. Shooting out their techniques and whatnot into it wouldn’t cause anyone nearby to get angered at them. Not that Hiroaki cared what other people thought. He didn’t mind picking a fight with those nearby, but he didn’t feel like them messing with his training right now. When Hiroaki gets caught in the moment with his testosterone booming, he tends to lose control of his temper.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Taichi had spent much of his time in Fang exploring, mostly he would go spelunking into the caves if Fang Mountain and traveling the vast forests that spread throughout most of the gorgeous island. The animals that he found were mostly beautiful, but there were times he would run into the most horrid of creatures.

When he wasnt spending the day exploring, researching, and recording the different types of creatures he found and fought. He would record the different types of weaknesses that each beast would have. But a couple days a week he would go down to work with the Blacksmith that he had met when he first arrived on Fang mountain. He was beginning to understand how the different types of metal worked and how each piece of metal was different and should be treated with the utmost care and caution, as to not destroy the integrity of the metal. Taichi was actually working with the blacksmith when he met a newfound acquaintance through Ember, Hiroaki.

When he saw Hiroaki walking by, Taichi waved at him and asked if he was looking to do some training. Hiroaki told Taichi that he was and Taichi said good bye to the Blacksmith and followed Hiroaki toward the seas. He felt that he may be of some help to Hiroaki due to all of the extensive training he had done with his Water elemental chakra transformation.

When they reached the ocean, Hiroaki asked Taichi to give it a go with his water techniques. Taichi nodded his head and walked out onto the ocean. He turned his head toward the sun and looked into the horizon for a moment, as he often did. Taichi then got into a fighting position and told Hiroaki that the first technique he was going to use was his Water Exploding Shock Wave. Taichi performed the proper hand seals and when he finished. A giant wave appeared and quickly shot outwards in all directions. The wave would continue to go outwards until its range was reached, which would just barely touch Hiroaki's feet with the water. Taichi then motioned for Hiroaki to join him on the water so he could try to perform the same technique.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Sun Jan 12, 2020 9:55 pm
The heavy sea breeze shot through Hiroaki causing some snot to leave his nose. He wiped it off and hopped onto the water. He had let Taichi show him the technique that had caused a rippling wave out in the water. It seemed it was Taichi’s understanding that Hiroaki should practice performing the technique himself. Hiroaki mimicked the signs Taichi had shown to the best of his capabilities. Apparently, Hiroaki had been doing it wrong as Taichi had to correct him on his weaving of the technique. Hiroaki tried again, this time successfully making the correct hand signs.

Although the hand signs were weaved correctly, the wave he let out was little more than one can be done by hand. Flustered, Hiroaki tried again and again. The waves he sent out splashed against the side of the cliff and spewed it’s water back at the two of them, starting to soak them wet. Hiroaki didn’t mind and wasn’t courteous enough to ask if Taichi had cared about getting soaked. Improvement was the only thing on the top of Hiroaki’s head, he didn’t care for wetness or aesthetics, at least at the moment.

It took a while, but soon Hiroaki’s waves were starting to look a lot like Taichi’s. “It’s handy to know water techniques on an island, huh?”, said Hiroaki with a smirk. He hopped back on top of the cliff. “Show me how you do it again?”, he asked. He wanted to see if he left any details out from it. Hiroaki sat there studying Taichi’s techniques. ‘It was interesting what you can learn from other people’, thought Hiroaki. A lot of people around the area Hiroaki was in were weak save a handful. That handful could probably rip Hiroaki in half if they wanted to.

‘I’m not one to run away from a fight, but who knows maybe one day I will grow a sense to accept that I’m outclassed’, he thought. Even though Hiroaki was the one to ask Taichi to re-show him the skill, he got bored of watching soon enough. He was the type of person to always be hands on anyway. Hiroaki had begun to think of a new way he could train himself as he sat there. Then Hiroaki remembered something. “Hey, I caught you at the blacksmith. What kind of swords does he got there? Is he more of a tool type of guy?”, asked Hiroaki. He liked weaponry and discussing the different types.

Hiroaki would bring out his notepad and show the different kinds of models of swords and the like he had drawn up on there to Taichi. “Was thinking of making a new design. I would never part with the first one I made, but different swords can be handy”, he said. Hiroaki coughed into his hand. Looking at his own notes he would add certain details that he had noticed he left out on them. “If I could somehow get a skilled enough blacksmith to imbue a sword with my chakra I could probably get some interesting results”, he said. He sat there in silent thought. When Hiroaki does this he doesn’t respond to others.

Hiroaki came out onto the waters with Taichi and, after Taichi had to correct him on the hand seals. He performed the technique just fine. The waves were small, no higher than Taichi's knee, but that was still a start. Taichi got out of the way for he had plenty of faith in Hiroaki and his skills that he would surely get it down to the point that it would even knock him over. Taichi stood on the cliffside, watching as the waves continued to get larger and stronger each attempt. After an hour of the waves hitting the cliffside that Taichi was standing, Hiroaki asked Taichi to come back out onto the water and show him how it was done.

When Taichi walked up to him, Taichi explained to Hiroaki what went through Taichi's mind when he performed the techniques. Visualization was certainly a large piece of this techniques success, but an even larger piece, was the demanding of his chakra. Taichi would demand his chakra to become as violent as possible, building it inside of his body, the releasing it all at once. The moment you feel the chakra pulsing in your body, feeling the thrashing of the chakra, that is when you release the shockwave.

Taichi waited for Hiroaki to get back to the cliff side before showing his new student of the art of water techniques. Taichi stood in his fighting stance, feeling his chakra already pulsing through his body. He had learned to channel his anger at the world inwards into his chakra, infusing his hatred and anger to create a much stronger connection to his own chakra. Taichi then released the shockwave and the waves crested higher than they ever had before. The waves went 25 meters in all directions, turning the sand under the water up as it forced itself through the waters.

Taichi then looked at Hiroaki and heard him ask about the Blacksmith. Taichi walked up to the cliff and sat down, letting his legs dangle off the sides, watching as the water still tossed around as the aftermath of his shockwave. Taichi then explained his relationship with the Blacksmith. "I met the Blacksmith when I first got to this island. He was a lead on a contract that I was trying to complete. I began visiting his shop from time to time asking about his trade. Now for months I have been going there up to five days a week all day training in the arts of a blacksmith. I have been creating my own pieces, both blades and armor. The old man is more of a tool guy, but he knows all about creating weapons and armor. Used to be in Konohagakure as their blacksmith, but he decided he wanted to go to the island nations instead. So he came here and saw there wasn't much of a market for weapons, so he began creating fishing tools.

I have actually created a set of armor that does react to my chakra network. I could probably create a set of armor for your, or a blade of sorts. You just tell me what you want and I can make it happen. But back to the water technique, show me the shockwave one more time with all that you have learned. I think you will have it down after this next attempt. When you get this one down, we can either call it a night, or we can go on to the next technique. There is plenty that I can show you in the water category alone."

Taichi then watched as Hiroaki walked out to the waters and readied himself to perform the shock wave one more time.

Taichi had explained that he had made a contract with the blacksmith and was working there to help him. Upon realizing that the blacksmith no longer really mass produced weapons made Hiroaki disappointed. He likes when a good blacksmith displays all of his fine craft out on display. It was almost as good as viewing a library and smelling the must of thousands of scrolls they had piled there. Hiroaki understood the blacksmith’s logic though. Some people preferred not to put up a fight. That could never be Hiroaki. He would sooner fight to death instead of accepting his fate.

“I haven’t tried blacksmithing before. I have tried to do some carpentry though.”, responded Hiroaki. He recalled the bench and birdhouse he had finely crafted after many times shaving down the sides to get it right. Hiroaki jumped down to test out the wave technique one last time. He put his all into it like he had always done. The wave only got better each time, Hiroaki letting the raging wave flow from his mind out in front of him. “It’s still early in the day. Too early to call it quits for the day. If you’re tired you can go find a bed”, said Hiroaki. Hiroaki was known to spend all night and even the next morning training until he passes out. He had needed Akihana to help recover him a couple times in the past.

“Actually, I got an idea.”, said Hiroaki still standing on the water. “How about you show me a thing or two at the blacksmith. That’s good practice and we will be closer to a place you can rest out”, he said. Hiroaki was eager to pick up on how to craft a good blade. If he could skip the middleman and craft for himself he could save himself a ton of ryo. “And I might take you up on that offer for some armor”, he responded. He was also sure that if Taichi was making it for him, he might be able to weasle a good discount out of him. Hiroaki jumped up onto the cliff again waiting for Taichi to lead.

If Taichi would take him to the blacksmith, Hiroaki would introduce him to the owner of the shop. Hiroaki would do one of his old fashioned nods as his introduction. Hiroaki would talk less, listen more to instructions. But he would only listen to it once over, not wanting to deal with any long lectures. He was too impatient to listen to every little thing that they would have to say and would put in real practice with his own two hands. He would first work on the molding and heating process of a sword if allowed.

If Taichi didn’t take him to the blacksmith, Hiroaki would continue to train at the ocean. Instead of continuing to work with the wave technique he would move on to practicing with his sword. He would keep a steady sword stance and perform a routine attack and repeat the routine over and over again. This would help his precision and accuracy when it came to attacking opponents with his blade. Hiroaki would even test this routine on tree’s accidently cutting some of them down in the process.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Mon Jan 13, 2020 1:20 am
Taichi was pleased with the improvements that Hiroaki was making in such little time, much like himself when he first started working with the water element. Taichi walked over to Hiroaki on the waters and congratulated him on improving with such speed and efficiency.

Hiroaki then asked about the Blacksmith and wanting to go to the shop to learn Blacksmithing. While Taichi was more than happy to take him to the old man and teach him plenty about blacksmithing, he knew that there was plenty of time in the day to learn more techniques. Taichi was concerned he would exhaust and/or injure Hiroaki in the first lesson, now that he knew he was more than willing to keep on, Taichi began speaking of the next lesson.

"I was just concerned I would hurt you on the first lesson. If you're good to go, then we have plenty of time to learn probably two more water techniques, and then we can go over to the old man’s shop and tinker around with the forge. I think the next technique that you should learn should be a technique of my very own, it’s called one with the water. This technique will allow you to do exactly what the name suggests, become one with the water. You will be able to travel at decent speeds through any type of water, be it natural or chakra made. It can even be through your enemies techniques if you wish. This technique will allow you to travel through mist, like that of the hidden mist technique, or through water based projectiles, like that of the Water Shark Bullet. That is another technique that I will need to show you.”

Taichi walked a little farther from Hiroaki so he could demonstrate, he performed the hidden mist technique. The mist spread to its maximum range of 100 meters in diameter. The mist was thick enough that Hiroaki could see Taichi fairly clearly, only until he activated his technique. In a matter of moments Taichi would vanish into the mist and would suddenly appear directly behind Hiroaki. Taichi would tap him on the shoulder if he hadn’t already noticed that he was there.

When Taichi was done, he would explain. “For this technique, you need to do the exact opposite of the exploding shockwave. With the shock wave, your goal was to command your chakra to become violent and have it explode from your body. With this technique, one only needs to calm their chakra, allowing you to slip into the water. You are working with the water, not against it. You are truly becoming one with the water. So go ahead and try it. Tell me what you think of it.” Taichi, almost forgetting that due to his mastery of the technique had not shown any hand signs. Taichi then explained more, “The hand seals for this technique are Tiger -> Snake -> Ram -> Ox then you will focus on slipping into the water, becoming one with it.”

Taichi would then leap backwards, landing to where he was 40 meters from Hiroaki and asked him to do exactly as Taichi did to him only a few minutes ago. Taichi would then stand there and wait patiently for the deed to be done.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:01 am
Taichi was willing to take Hiroaki to the blacksmith, but he wanted to wait and train a bit more at the cliff by the ocean first. Taichi had let Hiroaki do his sword exercises for a bit before he had asked Hiroaki if he was ready to continue doing some more water ninjutsu. Hiroaki re-sheathed his Akai Kumo katana that he was so fond of. “No time like the present”, he said ecstatic. One of Hiroaki’s favorite things to do was training, nothing could speak more than a person giving it their all.

Hiroaki laughed at Taichi. The man had insinuated that he would have hurt Hiroaki with his training. “I’ll knock myself out before you ever do”, he joked. Taichi explained to Hiroaki what he wanted to show him. He wanted Hiroaki to be able to travel through mist, water and the like. Hiroaki’s go to move was turning invisible as it seemed superior compared to being able to hide in the water itself. ‘I guess it has some value in that the jutsu will let me withstand some damage and travel a new way’, he thought.

The breeze blew strongly again over the two of them. Hiroaki tugged his overcoat closer to him as the wind rustled through his long brown shaggy hair. He watched Taichi begin to summon the hidden mist all around him. Hiroaki’s eyesight started to become obscured. He didn’t want Taichi to let him get a big head over trying to surprise Hiroaki so he casted his Hiding with Camouflage Technique. This would make Taichi unable to touch Hiroaki’s shoulder as he would not know where the man had gone. When Taichi would reform and was finished with his technique, Hiroaki would turn himself back visible and tap Taichi’s shoulder. If Taichi asked how Hiroaki had done that he would respond, “I got a few tricks of my own up my sleeve”.

After Hiroaki was finished showing off his skills, he would go back to practicing what Taichi had shown him with blending in with the mist and water. Blending in with the water was pretty similar and very different at the same time to his Hiding with Camouflage Technique. Hiroaki had to mold chakra to reflect light with his technique, but with Taichi’s technique he had to work with the water’s fluidity. If Hiroaki was ever asked to give an explanation greater than this, he wouldn’t be able to answer.

Taichi told Hiroaki that it wasn’t supposed to be an explosive thing. Hiroaki understood this much, but understanding and applying were two different things. Taichi jumped back 40m away from Hiroaki. Focusing and casting the signs that were told to him he slowly slipped into the water, but not totally. The water unmerged with his body and seemed to spit him back out of it. This flustered Hiroaki who punched the water with the strength that could move an armored caravan. The water from his punch was thrown into the air and rained back down over him. His hair was wet once again, dripping down.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:29 am
As Taichi began moving within the water of the hidden mist. He noticed that Hiroaki had what seemed like vanished into thin air after performing a Tiger seal. Taichi had spent many hours staring at the Jutsu encyclopedia, he only knew of a handful of techniques that allowed the user to become invisible, and only one that required a single Tiger hand seal. He was indeed using the Hiding with Camouflage technique. While this technique was quite impressive, it had it's limitations. One who uses this technique can still be found by the sound the user would make, whereas with the technique that Taichi had created, sound was not an issue. The other limitation that Taichi could think of as he continued to Hiroaki's last known position, was that the user was limited to one's own physical capabilities. With Taichi's technique, he could scale a thousand foot waterfall without any issue. He could travel as mist does, anywhere and everywhere, he could even go under door gaps and through key holes. But, the ability to become invisible is still quite an impressive one.

Taichi reappeared from the mist, knowing that he couldn't see Hiroaki through the mist that he had created, not even with his Sharingan. "That is one impressive technique. I have some issues with it, but I might just have to learn that one one day." Taichi would wait for Hiroaki to come back out of the camouflage technique so they could continue their training.

After Taichi cleared the distance to allow Hiroaki to make his attempt on the same technique. While his first attempt was only a partial success, the reaction that Hiroaki had was quite severe. It did seem that this one was quite the perfectionist and had a hard time not being perfect at something in his first go around. Not that Taichi could judge him for he was very similar in that regard. Taichi chuckled and reassured that Hiroaki could certainly do it, he just needed to reign in his anger and allow his chakra to calm down in return, this would allow him to slip into the water much easier and allow the water to accept his body within.

Taichi watched as Hiroaki attempted the technique again, he had faith that this perfectionist would be able to perform this technique successfully this time.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Mon Jan 13, 2020 5:55 am
Letting out a breath of air, Hiroaki weaved his hand signs. Only these hand signs were not the ones that Taichi would expect. No, these hand signs were for the shadow clone jutsu. Hiroaki had read a while back in a library that the Shadow Clone jutsu was very useful in helping people train faster. A second Hiroaki popped out of thin air next to the real Hiroaki. The two of them nodded to one another in front of Taichi. They began to retry the technique of hiding in the water as was taught to them.

Hiroaki couldn’t let go of his anger. Everytime he failed, the more he wanted to let his rage loose and cut something to ribbons. The two Hiroaki’s would slowly slip into the water, becoming one with it until they were spit out. This lead into the two Hiroaki’s brawling with one another, throwing punches this way and that. The clone Hiroaki disappeared into a pile of smoke in no time. Hiroaki bent over and coughed up a storm. “Damn it”, he said angered. He spit a little out into the water. He then took a deep breath of air in and let it all out slowly.

Soon Hiroaki’s body would fully dive into the water. He would move his way towards Taichi and appear beside him. It was apparent that Hiroaki was out of breath, exhausted from all of the training and chakra they had spent. “Need. Sake...or rum”, he huffed. He walked towards the cliff like a man with a serious back problem and then crawled up along the side of it. Once he reached the top he laid down. “Up and down this damn thing, whew”, he huffed some more. Hiroaki stared up at the clouds for a time.

“Say, can we go visit that blacksmith now?”, he asked. He was sure that Taichi had more water techniques in store to teach him, but him being Hiroaki, he loved to switch up the pace of things. If Taichi had more instruction on water techniques, he would listen, if not Hiroaki would gladly follow Taichi to the blacksmith. The morning had well passed at this point and they were now into the afternoon. The sun had noticeably moved across the sky and slowly made the sky seem more orange.

No matter which choice, Hiroaki would be lost in thought about his chameleon summons. “Hey, you got any summons?”, he would ask Taichi curiously. He knew that his own had very distinctive personalities that could be troublesome at times. No one could be more of an interesting individual then Gurimu who had always talked of making people his minions and stuff of the like. Hiroaki thought about summoning them out. A vast majority of his summons liked the laze about and try to call him their servant. It would bring a smile to Hiroaki’s face if he could drag them out and make them have a good training session for once in their lives.

‘Gurimu training’, thought Hiroaki. He smiled at the thought of that. He could imagine the type of things the chameleon would say to him. ‘It would probably something like, “I’ll make you die filthy human” or “I will use this strength to slaughter your loved ones” and so forth’, continued thinking Hiroaki. Yurei would be too frightened to train with him he bet. The first jutsu that Hiroaki would weave would send the shaky chameleon running for the treeline. ‘Nothing that could be done to fix that I suppose. Not like I need her help, really’, he thought.

Pushing The Limits Empty Re: Pushing The Limits

Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:25 am
Taichi was intrigued yet confused by Hiroaki. It was certain that he held onto a great deal of anger within himself, as he could see due to the immense anger that he showed towards his literal self in the clone, by attacking it. Taichi just laughed and allowed him to get his aggressions out.

After a while, Hiroaki had gotten the hang of Taichi's techniqe and was able to move about the water somewhat freely. While he certainly had some more work to do with the technique, Taichi felt confident that he needed no more instruction on the technique, just repetition and time. When Hiroaki was done he walked up to the cliff face and climbed up, Taichi could tell that he was certainly tired, even if he didnt want to admit it.

When Hiroaki got up to the cliff, he asked again about the Blacksmith. Taichi smiled as he looked up into the sky, the sun was beginning to come down and was filling the afternoon sky with an Amarillo colored glow. Taichi nodded and spoke, "Yeah, I think you have had enough of water training today. Let's go see that old man and take a look around the shop."

Taichi then stood up straight and stretched his back. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and he begins leading Hiroaki back to the blacksmith's shop. As they walked, the flashbacks began playing on repeat in his mind. He tried his best to keep his mind off of them, but they insisted. Taichi knew what he had to do, but he didnt want to do that with company waiting on him.

He did his best to continue to walk, but the flashbacks kept coming and were more and more vivid as he walked. Finally the pressure built too much and Taichi told Hiroaki the rest of the way. He told him what the blacksmith looked like and to tell him that you are an aspiring blacksmith and that he was the one to tell him to go there. He told Hiroaki that he would be right behind him, maybe 20 minutes later. Taichi the  gripped onto the straps of the backpack and hurried off into the forests.
