Zeo didn't expect this after it was only a few months since he was on the other side of things. He had been through a horrible ordeal surviving the disaster to his village and losing his parents. He remembered how it was after. He was pulled from the river, the shinobi who found him surprised he survived. After he recovered a bit, the shinobi were kind enough to bring him to this village-- to these very gates. There was nowhere else they could have brought him. Beyond that, they asked if they wanted to go with him to find a new home. He was in no position to refuse. All he knew was now gone.

And now in a full reversal, it was him standing guard and welcoming in people at the village gates, and others coming in. Not so long ago he was the ones looking at the large gates, wondering what new life he would be able to have or have not. It was a scary time... and he could only imagine some who were coming through to enter this village were in the same boat.

He wasn't alone as he was with other genin and some chunin, keeping watch not simply to question and talk to the newcomers, but also to keep the security of the village. Zeo kept a firm face and sharp eye out for anything suspicious. He probably would have had a hard time being let into the village had the shinobi who had found him hadn't sent word ahead and escorted him themselves. Despite all he knew about the star village, there was no shortage of kindness shown by them.

A nation founded upon positive religious principals had its merits after all.

Zeo was asked to keep an eye on things. He didn't have to interact too much, but then there was one group-- a family of three. A mother, father, and little daughter who looked no older than five years old. Though with a bit of nostalgia at the sight, he went over and talked to them. Apparently they moved there, the parents being technicians for infrastructure in the village. As they discussed their reasons, the little girl saw Zeo. He could tell by looking at her this was a big move for her. It was hard for a child that young to uproot and start somewhere else.

Despite his own pain, Zeo reached up a hand and kindly waved to the girl. She gave a soft squeal and waved back, glad to find a smiling face at that security checkpoint. The chunin at the gate discussed some details, including searching their belongings-- and soon they were allowed in. As he watched them leave, Zeo began to understand what the Star village or even Haven represented. It was hope to many. Even he felt a sense of hope when the Star Village took him in and gave him a chance to grow into something better than himself.

He looked to the Star-shaped emblem at the top of the gate, same as his headband. It was a symbol for hope even in the deepest darkness...
