Minor Alterations (Kenshin)

Having just left the market place Zaine slowly but surely made his way to the hospital of Sunagakure- he felt funny about going there so soon after having completed a mission there because he hadn't ever really been to the hospital much in his time at the village. Today was an important matter though, it was the day he would take a step towards the power that he craved so much- he was finally willing to go against his morals so that he can gain the power he needed to protect. Grabbing his right flank area he winced remembering how he recently earned a scar defending a fellow villager and that he could have.. rather he should have been stronger to defend him. "If Raleth found out I sustained an injury from an Earth style technique, he'd send me back to the academy." He would look up as he was finally at the entrance for the hospital, walking through he would be met by a receptionist that he would smile at before speaking "Good afternoon, my name is Zaine Uchiha and im just heading over to the morgue on official business" He would point to the Sunagakure headband that was tightly secured to his left arm and continue past the young woman to the stairs and take them down until he reached the morgue.
He would open the doors to a room that was cold and temperature, looking around to see if the man he planned to meet was awaiting him inside.

Mia would give a once over of the shinobi that was walking past her… and she had to admit, she liked what she saw, oh well… he was obviously here to meet with Kenshin, but it seemed as though he wasn’t too sure of where to go.

“Okay, just follow the black line on the floor and it will take you to the morgue, it is on the ground floor near the back of the building.” She would explain, a small friendly smile on her face.

Within the morgue the black clad form of Kenshin could be seen standing over the desk opposite the door, scribbling down the notes from his latest tests with his back facing the door. His concentration was broken when he heard the door to the morgue open slowly, and as he glanced over his shoulder he would see the familiar figure of Zaine looking around the room. Well, he wouldn’t be too impressed by the room, it was a standard morgue for the most part, 4 draining tables within the room and twenty cold chambers on the left and right walls, giving enough space for the storage of 40 bodies.

“Ahh Zaine, a pleasure to see you again, what can I do for you?” The Ragdoll would ask with a small smile, turning to face the young Uchiha.

The young woman at the desk was quite kind and he was lucky to have a guide to help him to the correct area of the hospital. He was nervous to say the least because he was unaware of what would happen to him after this procedure and even at that how would he ask this of his Kazekage? He was unprepared but knew he needed the strength that could only be provided in the den of the dead- a morgue, the one place that he had always hoped to avoid while he still drew breath and was quite literally the antithesis to his morals given physical form.

Upon entering the morgue he would see a man as tall in stature as his title would present, Kenshin stood in all back in the back of the morgue amongst the cold chambers and draining tables. His expression would be one of seriousness as he bowed in respect to his Kage "Lord Kazekage its good to see you again. Although I wouldnt have imagined youd look so.. in your natural habitat here." He said these words carefully but in truth he was comforted by the fact that his village leader was so comfortable in this setting, it served to soothe him so that he might make his request. "I've heard about what youre capable of. Your talent for.. taking people beyond their limits and I wish to have my abilities pushed further. Im not sure exactly how to accomplish this but I put full trust in your decision if you choose to accept my request." He hoped that Kenshin would have an idea of what might work best for the young Uchiha as he sureley knew of Zaines abilities and had an ample amount of combat and general knowledge about his clan as well as others. Hopefully he would be able to put him in a position that would better allow him to protect his village and loved ones- he would await his reply as his gaze remained on his Kazekage.

Kenshin would smirk at the words of Zaine, or more specifically, the comment about how at home he seemed to be within this setting. It was the truth, he was quite at home within this setting, his nerves numbed enough that the constant cold didn’t bother him in the slightest, and himself enjoying the silence. On top of that he also enjoyed the work itself… there was something that was quite calming to The Monster about being able to dissect humans and learn what makes them tick from the inside out… eerie to be sure, but when did he ever care about what people thought of his habits. It was this very fascination that made him such a knowledgeable medic… to say that he had an intimate knowledge of the human body and all of its functions was an understatement. He was perfectly aware that most would be disturbed by this knowledge, as many within Hoshigakure had been, but that meant little to him… he made no secret of the type of person he was, he made no secret of the type of work that he enjoyed, and he made no secret that he was extremely skilled at what he did.

When Zaine commented on his skill at taking people beyond their limits his smirk would shift into more of a wide smile, and The Kazekage would lock eyes with the young Uchiha.

“You have heard correct, I am quite skilled when it comes to helping people surpass their natural limitations, and I must say that I am quite glad to see you wish to surpass those limits as well. There are, unfortunately, far too many within Sunagakure that are content to simply stay within those limitations, those that refuse to grow stronger than they could otherwise become… I do not fault them for their choices, nor do I condemn them in any way… it is just quite disappointing to me.” The Reaper would explain, letting out a small sigh at the end before smiling once more. At least Zaine was one of the few that were not content to simply stagnate, at least this bright young shinobi was the type to push those limitations and surpass them.

“The ways in which I can help you surpass these limits is considered less than legal in most of the other villages and some countries in general. I am talking of DNA transplants, the practice of implanting bloodlines from other clans into someone who was not born with those bloodlines. Most of the other villages consider this practice to be extremely unethical and, as such, have outlawed the practice entirely… but truthfully I do not understand why this is the case considering our line of work. Our line of work is dangerous on the best of days, and to say that some of the jobs we undertake are unethical is an understatement of the highest order… so why should a valid option of gaining more strength be illegal for us?” The Ragdoll would explain, finishing his explanation of the option he was offering and his personal belief on the matter with a simple question. Logically he was correct, on their best days shinobi were hired killers, and on their worst they could be downright monstrous… but there were still some things that a great many shinobi considered to be unethical, and he could agree with that. There were a handful of jobs that he had outright declined for his shinobi based solely on the fact that what was being asked was so far removed from the realms of ethics that it was almost mind boggling, and these very same jobs were usually the ones that came with the largest price tags… but sometimes no amount of money was worth doing what was being asked. Transplants though… why were they looked upon with such scorn? They could be the difference between life and death on a mission, they could help shinobi bypass their natural limits… so why were they so unethical?

“The choice is yours to make, and I will not think less of you if you do not wish to undertake the procedure now that you know what it entails… but, if nothing else, I can assure you that my transplants are quite ethical all things considered, and I promise that they will be of use to you in the future… they will definitely help you surpass whatever limitations you have.”

Feelings guilt would race through Zaine as he though about what his late father would think at his actions- early in his childhood his father had spoken to him about "monsters" shinobi who had undergone "unspeakable" mutations to gain powers unnatural to the world. He always spoke so highly of their Uchiha bloodline and the roots and told his son that tainting the blood of the Uchiha would mean he could never fully unlock the potential of the sharingan- this statement by his father always seemed like a tall tale told to scare him but speaking with Kenshin now, he knew the stories were true. He had recently evolved his sharingan to the the level of three tomoe and for some time felt that this was the top level of the doujutsu- he had however come across a man with a strange pattern in his eye and this made him realize that there was another level beyond. Was he willing to sacrifice ever reaching this level to gain the powers Kenshin could bestow? Or maybe he didnt have the natural capapbilities and this augmentation would give him the boost he needs to achieve his own heightened sharingan.

"What I seek is complicated to explain. The simplest way to put it is that I want more speed and a way to fight in a dynamic fashion. I also believe there is a higher level of the sharingan beyond my three tomoe." His pride took a shot as he said this, looking away slightly from his Kazekage in shame "I ran into a shinobi from the north.. he sparred with Raleth and during this I saw his eyes. It was clearly the sharingan but it was different. A pattern that completely defied what I thought was possible." Looking back at his village leader with a determined look Zaine would not hesitate to make his will known "If there is a level of the sharingan that transcends the three tomoe then I must reach it at any cost. Please, lord Kazekage assist me in going to the next level."

He walked towards Kenshin until he was 2 meters from him before stopping and speaking once more "Do me this one favor. Do not tell me the DNA you plan to transplant until after the surgery is over. To put it plainly, I already feel as though I am turning my back on certain promises I made in the past so as an act of leveling this out i'll live with whatever choice is made." He would place himself on whatever table Kenshin would request of hima nd await further instruction for the procedure- if all went well he would come out of this with something useful but he was sure that the Ragdoll would do justice by his village member.

Kenshin would listen to the request of Zaine and smirk amusedly… he wished for something that could make him both faster and give him the ability to fight in a more dynamic manner… hmm, there were a few bloodlines that he possessed that could help him both, although there were two that truly stood out to him. When he began to speak of a level beyond the 3rd tomoe of the Sharingan that smirk would grow even larger… he had come to the correct person if he wished to reach and surpass that level. As he continued to speak Kenshin would have to resist the urge to raise a brow… he wanted the transplant he was getting to be a mystery to himself until AFTER it was done… how very bold of him, and also, how telling of the trust that he had in his leader… it was almost enough to shock The Ragdoll, because he had never received such an overt show of trust from one of his shinobi before. Kenshin would close his eyes as he released a light chuckle, before opening his eyes and revealing the active form of his Transcendent Sharingan to Zaine.

“You would be correct Zaine… there is indeed a level beyond the third tomoe of the Sharingan, and there is a level beyond even that… I do not know the true name of the eye, as I was the one to discover these levels on my own, but I have taken to calling the first level the Ascended Sharingan, and the second level, the final as far as I am aware… the Transcended Sharingan. The Ascended Sharingan is a level that I reached some time ago, and truthfully I am unaware of what the exact conditions are for awakening it… but the Transcended is one that I only reached recently, and the way in which it is awakened is by swapping your own Ascended Sharingan with that of another. The reason for this is actually quite simple… the Ascended Sharingan provides its wielder with great power… but it also demands a great cost, with the eye itself degrading the more you use it… the more you draw upon that power, the quicker your vision will fail you. I didn’t know of this cost until it was too late, and it was upon swapping my decayed eye with that of another that the Transcended Sharingan awakened… the pattern within my old eye merged with the pattern of the new eye, and in doing so the weakness of the Ascended has abated… I have tested this quite a bit, and my eye is not degrading at all, even when I use it for extended periods.” The Reaper would explain to the young Uchiha, making sure to spare no detail when it came to the power offered by this eye and the cost that came with it… it had been a nasty surprise to him, and he could only imagine how horrifying that price would be to someone born an Uchiha.

“Now, I have an idea of what I will transplant into you, and I can perform the transplant quite easily now, all I will need you to do is remove your shirt and lie down on any of the draining tables.” Kenshin would say with a personable smile, before turning to the right and walking towards one of the cold chambers that lined the room, opening it to reveal the headless corpse of a man that he had never met before… the headless corpse of a truly hulking man that he had purchased from Kutari when The Wraith last visited. Kenshin would reach into the open chest cavity and remove the Liver of the man, before closing the chamber and making his way over to whichever draining table Zaine had chosen to lie down on. Kenshin would place the organ down next to the Uchiha, before slowly performing the handseals necessary to use the Chakra Anaesthetic technique, causing blue wispy ‘flames’ to appear on the tips of his fingers.

“This is a simple Medical Ninjutsu that I will be using to temporarily numb your nerves, the loss of sensation will be felt across your whole body, but will only last for a few minutes.” He would explain, before pushing his fingers down directly in the middle of Zaine’s sternum, the fingers sinking into his flesh lightly and the ‘flames’ entering his body, rapidly numbing any and all sensation from the man. With that done Kenshin would reach down, into his kunai pouch, and withdraw a scalpel.

“This will only take a minute or so, you will be conscious throughout the procedure and you will find it to be both simple and painless for you, so all I ask is that you stay still for a few moments.” The man would then explain, the same small smile on his face

With that said he would place the scalpel on his upper sternum, slicing gently as he pulled the blade down and to the left, before pulling his hand away, placing the now bloodied scalpel down on the small surgical table beside him, and grabbing the organ. He would place his empty right hand directly onto the incision and insert five of his threads into the body of Zaine, all of which would home in on the organ and begin gently severing connection, wrapping themselves around it, and pulling it free. With that done Kenshin would place his right hand, which held the new organ, over the incision and repeat the process, his threads pulling the new organ into the body of Zaine and holding it in place.

With that done, and the threads still holding the organ in place, Kenshin would activate his Amelioration, causing a deep cyan light to emulate from his body and completely engulf the form of Zaine. The healing chakra would flood the mans body, quickly healing the incision itself and connecting the new liver, as well as healing the damage from the mans earlier injury. With that Kenshin would withdraw his threads and allow the healing chakra to heal the small wounds left from healing around the threads, and any other minor aches or pains that Zaine was feeling, before deactivating the technique.

“There you go my friend, all done, and you should be feeling better than ever. Quite the simple process really, at least for someone of my level. Now, I do have a cost for this, and for this particular clan it will cost you 10,000 ryo, but you don’t need to pay right now if you don’t have it on you. I trust you to pay me back when you have the chance.” The Ragdoll would say with a small smile, waiting for Zaine to say something before he went any further, or explained the bloodline that he had just received.

The words of the Kazekage echoed through his mind as he spoke them- he had cemented the fact that the sharingan could be developed further, a notion that Zaine already hypothesized and figured had to be true but had no concrete information, until now. He hung onto every word spoken by the Ragdoll as he explained that there were not just one but two levels beyond that of the sharingan he had previously thought to be the perfected version of the doujutsu- he now knew that this was what his father had been referring too when he spoke of the true power the sharingan held but was ever curious as to how his father attained it and how others did so as well. The most surprising aspect of the situation would take place right before the eyes of the young Uchiha as Kenshin closed his eyes and opened them revealing a sharingan with an abnormal pattern in his left eye- this eye was without a doubt the same type of sharingan that he had seen previously. "H...how.. this can't be possible. He isnt even of the Uchiha lineage and yet he holds the ultimate power of the clan." He was filled with a flurry of emotions all at war with each other as he stared into the left eye of his kage- he would close his own eyes and open them, his expression becoming more serious as his eyebrows became filled with tension- his eyes would reveal the three tomoe sharingan. The sheer amount of volume that resonated off from his left eye was almost cosmic in scale and to be honest Zaine wouldnt believe such a feat was possible if he hadnt been viewing it with his own two eyes. He listened as he was educated to the best of Kenshin's ability about how the eye evolves and would come to the realization that his own eyes were becoming stronger and stronger due to his recent training regiment- this realization brought him to the conclusion that he must be close to the next state, an Ascended Sharingan. He would hold off on speaking although this would prove to be the most difficult aspect of this situation.

He would continue to listen as he instructed to pick a table to lie down on and he would do so after he deactivated his sharingan- he would choose the table closest to him and lay down on his back after removing his shirt, unsure if this action was necessary but feeling it couldnt hurt. What would follow would be instructions as well as an explanation of what to expect physically after the procedure was over- his explanation was quite concise and served to alleviate any nerves that had still lingered in regards to the procedure. Throughout the duration of the surgery Zaine couldnt get the thought of the "Ascended" and "Transcended" Sharingan out of his head "So, this next level will eventually lead to blindness if I use it. Whats worse... ill have to murder a fellow Uchiha if I ever want to stop my descent into vision loss." He would grit his teeth slightly grinding them- Kenshin would know full well this was not from the pain of the procedure as he himself stated it would be painless after the numbing technique he utilized and would be lead to believe that the recent information he gave the young Uchiha idnt sitting well. "There has to be another way. How could the pinnacle of our abilities be locked away behind such a barbaric action. Were no better than savages if all of this is true." The hard questions began to flow as the surgery neared its end, was gaining power worth doing the unthinkable? He had already placed his morals to the side to gain power at this very moment- so how far could he go? how far should he go?

The surgery had concluded upon the healing of the wound that was created to remove his liver and he felt relieved- sat up, looking at the incision site that if he would not have known was even there to begin with had he not been awake during the entire process. He would get off of the table and throw his shirt back on all at once, his back now turned to Kenshin- he clenched his fists together tightly before releasing them after a moment or two, turning back to his Kazekage, "First things first. Thank you for your assistance Lord Kazekage. Because of you, ill be able to continue to grow to new heights." He bowed to the man for a moment before lifting his head back up and speaking once more "I understand that eye of yours belonged to someone else.. and the one before it to someone else as well. So, as an Uchiha under you jurisdiction and who fights to defend the village you stand in as leader I would like you to be honest with me." His voice would shift to a grim tone as he continued on "How many Uchiha have you killed. How many people? and more impotantly.. what did you gain from it, what was the prupose?" He would await a response from Kenshin as he truly wanted to understand the man before him, someone who held the power he was seeking out- he needed to know more about his personal experience so that he could determine if there was a limit to what he should strive for at this point. He looked around as he noted that the environment in which he was to learn these troubling facts was quite symbolic. Zaine Uchiha entered the morgue, that much was to be sure but who would come out of it, not even he knew.
