Ryu sat on the front deck of his house, next to him lay Taco, his lower jaw resting on the top of his outstretched front legs. Also on the porch, the newest member of the household swam around in his bowl, this was Maki, the goldfish acquired at the Christmas festival. The winter weather was very present on this night, it was cold and still, the sounds of the indigenous mountain population almost entirely gone, most in hibernation or hiding away. Ryu had a cup of hot chocolate and was intermittently sipping it, also he had a plate of fresh pastries he had brought back from the village that morning, he had a doughnut and a sugar-covered yum-yum. Ryu grabbed a bottle he had in his pocket and opened it, tipping the contents into his hands, he then sprinkled them into the bowl that Maki swam in, he instantly reacted to the water surface being broken and attempted to scoop the food into his tiny fish mouth. On his other side, Taco knawed on a bone acquired from a pet shop, both intended for fun and to clean his teeth. Ryu smiled as he looked forward out towards the vista in front of him.

The sun had faded almost entirely on the day, the moon's reflective surface now the only thing giving light to the land. Ryu picked up his cup and his plate and returned to the inner confines of the house, placing the dish and mug in the sink he then made his way into the dojo, he was going to work on his sword techniques today. Ryu sat cross-legged in front of his master's heirloom, the sword. He closed his eyes and thought back to the only time he saw his mater use the sword, it was in combat and also the day that he died. This was also the day that he witnessed the eight inner gates formation in all of its glory. Ryu used his mind's eye to enhance his view of the sword in use, watching as the sword was brought up and dropped down on its target, watching as it clashed with various other weapons, Ryu studied its every move, he could no longer be taught by his master, but he was fully aware that he had training still to gain from his master, stuff he had embodied in other training sessions, stuff that he could learn from just remembering his master's movements.

Several moments passed, Ryu's eye was closed as he trained mentally in the art of the sword. The sword rose and fell, lopped and crossed. The blade made all these motions and at a certain point a minuscule lag, where the blade made contact with whatever it was, but the mental imaging of Ryus training only took into account his masters movements, not whoever he was fighting against. Ryus eyes opened slowly as he went through the last of the training, it was one thing to get his mind ready for the movements with the sword, but his body would have to get used to it as well, only marrying the two pieces of training together could he get some imitation of his masters style. Ryu then spent the next few hours going over the motions with the sword, just like he did in his mental training, but this time allowing his muscles to get used to the movements and the weight of the sword. What he had currently was a crude imitation of his master's style, but within the time it would be personalised into his own style, but for now, this would have to do, maybe he would be able to find a new master within the village that could instruct him in the sword, perhaps help him create a unique style for himself, adding it to his taijutsu heavy style that used ninjutsu and thrown weapons to pin opponents then smash them at full strength.

Ryuzaki moved the blade so that the tip was touching the edge of the scabbard and slid the tip into the opening, he then pushed the blade gently till it hit the tsuba, he then twisted ti so it locked in place. Ryu held the sword there for a few seconds and studied it, he now got a closer look at it then he had ever before, it was a beautiful scabbard. He smiled slightly and returned the sword and scabbard to the rack where it stood when not in use and then exited from the dojo. Ryu then collected Maki from the porch and returned inside the house, he went straight into his bedroom and laid the fishbowl back on the nightstand. Ryu then began to tidy up the bedroom until it was back to its tidy natural state. Ryu then exited his bedroom and walked over to his master's bedroom and slid the door open, it was left exactly as it had been on the morning of his death. Ryu wondered if he should move into the master bedroom, after all, he knows owned this house and it was sitting unused. Would that be a good step to moving past his master's demise?
