The Next Step

A ghost town, that was the feeling Goto experienced when he walked through the streets of Konohagakure. His village, abandoned and deserted or at least close to. No children playing, barely any movement whatsoever as the young shinobi made his way to the next location. The current state would be in big contrast with how things were a couple of weeks ago. Back then the sudden peak in activity gave the impression of hope, but it seemed only to be a temporary one. As things were standing right now it looked like Konoha simply fell back into its old habits. 

With a couple of missions under his belt, Goto returned stronger and more experienced. HIs disappointment and frustration even bigger when he noticed not much had changed during his time away. Time the boy used to successfully complete multiple tasks that would benefit the village, hoping they'd allow Konoha to grow once more. There was not much to be seen of this so called promising "Next Generation", same could be said about those supposed to lead the younger ones and guide them on their way to becoming the future of the village. Goto, obviously counting himself as part of the newer generation, came to the unfortunate conclusion that there was currently no one around he could turn to.

For better or worse all of his pondering led him to the Hokage Chambers. Almost as fate would have it, and a bit ironic as well, considering those same thoughts brought him to the office of the one person in the village standing on top and being the symbol of leadership. As he passed through the halls of the building Goto noticed the complete silence, almost as if he was the only one there. So far the young Senju didn't feel or hear the presence of anyone else, to his own disbelief. As the boy arrived and stood in front of the door which led to the chambers he looked around, wondering why there was no guard or secretary around. Maybe they were simply taking a break, or perhaps they had also given up hope. 

Goto would knock three times before finally entering after hearing no response, assuming no one was present. Upon setting foot in the Kage Chambers the young Senju did indeed notice the Hokage's absence as the silver haired was now the only individual in the room. Not knowing where to go from there the boy just took a seat on top of the desk, staring at the same door he came through.

As it became clear that no one would show up, the silver haired Senju decided to take his leave. With another disappointment being added to the already well filled pile, Goto left through the same door he entered earlier and made his way out of the building and to the village gates. Perhaps everything was for the best, who knew what would have happened if the young boy ran into someone. Nevertheless, his time would come.
