Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Kota vs Yusuke

The arrows sunk into Enna's arm, causing her to groan loudly, but she wasn't done. Despite her other jutsu's failing and an arrow in her arm she would decide to weave signs immediately weaving the hand signs for chakra scalpel senbon infused with her poison technique. Her cast would occur right as the boy started to move towards the target he was trying to sense with his smoke, moving at 100 speed. The senbon followed the boy in an arc of 180 degrees from behind. She still wasn't done she would weave signs and follow her attack activating the Jutsu Minds Eye Kagura. Allowing her to sense her target as she followed him at her pitiful speed of 50, escaping the vacuum area. She would also let her invisibility drop as it was no longer serving a purpose. 

Enryu had whiffed his uppercut, and was sent into the air. He was quick on the uptake and started weaving his signs as the boy shot arrows into his fellow ape. He was didn't think the boy was going for him. In fact it looked like he had completely ignored him.  Kota traveled towards the pillar Yusuke was likely behind and towards some smoke he seemed to have created. Enryu was going to get a hit onto the boy if it was the last thing he did. He transformed into a blood red spear and launched himself at Jutsu speed of 75. He wasn't closing the distance on the boy, but he was following while losing half as much ground as he gained.  

Yusuke had gotten busy with the next part of his plan. Once he was safe from getting sniped upon unearthing, he immediate started weaving signs in both hands once again. As he did, his skin turned a pale and sickly shade of brown. His mind started to warp with the nature energy infusing with his body and chakra network. Luckily he had already mastered the use of sage mode, he recalled his training with Enryu, and he was able to beat back the desire to rampage and attack recklessly. Yusuke was in full control of the berserk transformation technique. He was about 10 meters from the pillar, but closed the distance to get back to the fight as he heard Enna groan in pain. As he stood behind the pillar, he noticed a smoke started spread towards him. He deduced it was likely to obscure his vision. If that's his game he's likely coming to me... It's too late though I'm ready now Kota... He had completed his signs and released an amplified version of the only Sarutobi technique the boy knew. Brave Bird. The ash streamed from his wrist into the atmosphere forming 5 birds. Two above the pillar, one next to Yusuke and two on either side of the pillar. Yusuke also activated his absorption seal absorbing the obscuring smoke before Kota reached the pillar. 

As Kota reached the pillar, ready to breath out his white mist, Yusuke stood on his bird as it flew to the left of the pillar at it's max [160] speed outrunning the creeping white mists 60 speed. This gave Yusuke full vision of the boy, and he was where he expected. The birds above the pillar would descend starting to circle 4 meters above Kota, give or take a meter left or right as Yusuke was working of off prediction, at the same time. This would form a vortex that would pull Kota towards it's center. The remaining two birds would close in on the boy at 160 speed. They overlapped their 4 meter wingspan aiming to cut the boy in half with their sharp wings. They started from a distance of less than 3 meters away. It was going to be difficult for the boy to dodge. 

Yusuke held his fingers interlocked the whole time after casting the jutsu in order to maintain it. He figured this was the end for Kota, but he keep his eyes peeled for anything.

Kota did not see the birds above him. His need to try and recover by disengaging left him far more open than anticipated. He wanted to dodge the senbon needles by ducking left. It was a shame he could not move, as he started to get sucked towards the center of the strange jutsu. He could only allow the needles to penetrate his armor, rendering it useless and drawing blood. Kota could still find amusement that one monkey was not the smartest. It turned into a spear mid air and impaled itself into the ground.

When he noticed the birds in the air he prepared his bow to try and shoot them out the sky. The archer did not have the time to release the arrow. Two ash birds were swooping from the sides and managed to catched the archer unawares. They bisected his body, filling him with pain as his vision went dark.

The machine beeped and Kota found himself back in the start room. He had lost the fight in that small window of time. “You got me this time. Even holding back I couldn’t best you. At least for now.” Kota would give Yusuke a bow and be a sport about his loss. To say the archer was pissed would be an understatement. Anyone with the slightest ability to read facial expressions can see the rage burning beneath his smile. He would still not want it to get the better of him. Kota wanted to use the current shame of losing by turning it into fuel to burn even better in the future.

As the brave birds tore his opponents in half Yusuke remained skeptical. The archer had been a speedy, and nefarious opponent. It was possible that his eyes had played tricks on him. A clone technique, or genjutsu... Yusuke was looking around until suddenly the world around him went blank. He heard a loud beep, which signaled to him the battle was over. He had returned to the real-world and was looking through the goggles he'd put on when this all started. The boys hands were a little shaky with excitement as he removed the headset, and slid himself off the chair. 

I won...and without any injury?! He was almost surprised it almost didn't feel real. Yusuke Sarutobi clenched his fist tightly. Suddenly he was wrestled away from his own internal realization by words from his opponent. Yusuke was able to maintain his excitement and put himself in the shoes of his opponent. If he'd lost he'd been disappointed and angered. He wouldn't want to be looked down on or to be gloated in front of. It wasn't easy. He said with a nod and a serious face. That was all he would say to his opponent before coming to his feet and standing at attention for lord Guren. He expected to be dismissed at the very least. He wanted to go home and celebrate with his parents who were undoubtedly in the crowd today, but he could wait a few moments. The Kazekage just saw him succeed in a big way. This was an important moment for him, for his ambitions. He looked to Guren with anticipation.

Guren watched idly by from the confines of his seat within the simulation room. The large monitor did an excellent job of documenting all of the details in the fight. And from Guren's perspective, the fight was clean. He'd best describe it as a game of cat and mouse, with both genin sizing each other up. It seemed like all it took was one calculated move from Yusuke which led to him clinching the victory over Kota. Nevertheless Guren had been pleased with the performance of the two genin. Both of the two seemed to give it their all. In any case, once Kota had been killed in the simulation he'd find himself booted from it and awaken back within the chair with his headset still on. The Third would click the red, "Stop" button, kicking out Yusuke from the simulation. Once both genin had come to, Guren would call out to them. "Remove your headsets and present yourselves." He'd wait for the two to do this before continuing.

"Both of you gave it your all, and I commend you for that. Yusuke, congratulations for succeeding in the second round. Kota, your effort does not go unnoticed. You will both be invited and expected to complete the third round in the coming days. I will deliberate with the rest of the proctors and we will evaluate everyone's scores. For now return to your homes. Thank you."

Guren would leave it at that, and wait for the pair of genin to depart from the room. He could tell Yusuke was riding a high and Kota had a chip on his shoulder. Therefore he refrained from offering too much feedback on their spar. He didn't want the win going to Yusuke's head, and he didn't want Kota to beat himself up. He wanted the two to simply reflect on their fight, and use that as motivation to improve themselves. Nothing more, nothing less. When they would leave, he would return to his notebook which set adjacent to the control panel for the simulator. He'd scribble his thoughts and observations within it, and leave once finished. It was time for the third round to commence.

Yusuke gave a quick nod and a bow to his opponent before leaving the room. He was on cloud nine he was certain that they could eat at his favorite resterant tonight. Perhaps the people of the village would be singing his praises? My parents are gonna be so pleased! I can see the look on my dad's face now...


He imagined smiling faces, but he couldn't shake the idea that his father's praise would come with a tinge of expectation. Yusuke had agreed to share in his ambition however. The only path was that of glory.
