Once more it was time to up the ante when it came to what kind of missions that Jecht felt like he should take on. Last time he had spent some time completing some entry level missions to get the ball rolling on his Shinobi Career. Now he figured after so easily completing those ones that it was time to jump up a rank, so he made the small trek across the village to the building that housed the Mission board and all the requests of the village and outside of it sometimes.
Passing by his neighbors and some of his former clients from the last batch of missions Jecht made small talk with some of them and exchanged pleasantries with others, in no real rush to tackle the new missions as he had a feeling it would take him some time to complete them with some of the older ones having him spend most of the day cleaning or guarding a building for a whole evening or day. “I really hope that none of the requests today involve guarding a place from rodents again.” Jecht muttered to himself as he entered the building drawing strange looks from a few people due to him being bare-chested and without shoes not a completely unusual look but not yet common enough that it doesn’t make some people wonder what Jecht was thinking.
Jecht continued to the D-Rank section of the board looking over the requests there it seemed like there were quite a bit more on this part of the board then in the E-Rank side. Quite a few of them caught the older genin’s eye as he scanned through them trying to think which would be best to take. He even took the time to think of how many should he take at once. “You know what I took five requests last time I’ll just do it again for this group.” Jecht thought to himself as he picked out which ones he wanted to do. One of them was another request from the performing troupe he had worked with the other day, “Well that’s good I enjoyed working with them.” Jecht mumbled to himself. Another was about escorting and helping with the funeral of a fallen Shinobi of the village, out of respect he took that one. The third request was of escorting a VIP builder of sorts to the village from a village that was close by, the last two requests were from clients that Jecht had worked with prior one was from the Painter’s Guild once more needing help with something and the other was a request from the Adoption Center.
“Hopefully one has gotten some funding to fix that place and hopefully for the other I won’t be cleaning brushes and buckets.” Jecht said with a sigh as he took the slips with him out of the building and started to head towards where the Troupe was located at. He was looking forward to seeing what kind of issues they were having as they had discussed and practiced some Taijutsu and sparring to give them an idea of what was popular here in the Leaf Village.
Arriving at the troupe’s location he was happy to see that the colorful designs and streamers had seemed to increase in number. Jecht felt like that meant the shows had been going well though while he walked through the area some members of the troupe seemed disheartened by something, he could only hope that some had gone majorly wrong. Making his way into the leader’s office the man looked up at him and gave a weak smile.
“Come now did some one pass or something with all these mopey looks?” Jecht said to the man. The leader looked at Jecht and shook his head, “No it is much simpler but all the same tragic. The shows were going great up till we started noticing that the crowds were getting thinner and thinner each passing show.” The leader explained exasperated, “It seems that the people here are already bored of us and we haven’t nearly made enough money to begin our trip to our next destination.” Jecht looked at the man confused and chuckled, “Lord is that all that is wrong? With everyone’s expression walking in here you could have sworn half the cast had went on to the next life without ya.” Jecht said chuckling, “So you guys need something new to perform that ain’t difficult they liked the Taijutsu showcase so lets mix it up with some various elements and demonstrations.” Jecht explained as he started to work with the leader of the troupe to decide what the members were able to do currently and what Jecht could show them himself.
“Now I don’t have much to show as you know since last time I was here but I do have a little something I picked up while living outside of the village by some wandering swordsman.” Jecht explained as he cleared out an area around him making sure to give himself plenty of room before he started to go through the motions of the dancing martial art of Capoeira which is a martial arts that hides its moves within a set of dancing motions. To a normal person it might look like a coordinated dance of various jumps flips, kicks and cartwheels, to anyone trained in Taijutsu they would be able to recognize the precise movements and attacks. It was a good way to gain customers of both sides of the village.
It took quite some time to train and pass on the motions and movements to be able to perform Capoeira to the members of the troupe but it was well worth it as the members picked up the motions as if they had done the their whole lives with some corrections it was perfect in execution. Jecht was glad to have added something to the show as the moves from this style could be incorporated into various other demonstrations. “Alright now that you guys have something new I think your issue has been solved, what ya think?” Jecht said to the leader as they watched the members perform. “Yes I would have to say we are all set for now. Thanks once more for coming to our aid.” The leader offered as he handed the signed slip back to Jecht. “It was no problem, if you need anything else you know where to put a request at and who knows I might be back again to help out then as well.” Jecht said as he left waving one hand. It was time to head to the next location for the next task.

The next destination was a more sombering one compared to the joy and fun Jecht just had teaching the Troupe a new act that they will be using in their next act. The task laid before him was one where he would need to transport a fallen comrade’s body back to the village for processing and then going through the process of informing the family and everything that needed to be complete with the funeral processing and entombment. Jecht first arrived to where he would be meeting up with the Shinobi that had transported him to the village so far and would take over the escorting to the morgue.
Jecht paid his respect to his fallen comrade and even though he hadn’t personally known the Shinobi Jecht held the death’s of those who were in the same career as himself closely. “So long brother, you will be missed.” Jecht offered to the fallen body and after exchanging small talk with the original escort team he took over the transportation of the body to the morgue. It was a solemn duty and the body bag that preserved the body for transport was instantly recognized by those of the village. The looks varied as Jecht passed by some of sadness, guilt, regret and despair. Everyone knew someone who had lost someone and seeing the transport of a new corpse made those who had loved ones and friends that were Shinobi worry that maybe today they would be the ones visited about the death of someone important to them.
Things proceeded smoothly to the morgue as no one was going to dare disrespect the escort of the body within the village. Upon arrival Jecht proceeded to find the worker, “I have come to hand off the corpse of one of our fallen Shinobi for processing.” Jecht mentioned stone faced and somber. “Very well, we have received the body and you may proceed with informing the family about the death of their kin.” The worker mentioned as he took over the transport and care of the body. They would need to go over the body to determine cause of death, harvest any important organs needed for the village and eventually a clone will be placed in the casket at the funeral so that the family may have some kind of closure but the real body once harvested will be burnt and disposed of.
Jecht followed the path to the home listed on the paperwork for the fallen Shinobi and once he arrived at the door and double checked he was at the right place as he didn’t want to ruin another family’s day with the news he was suppose to deliver. Knocking on the door Jecht could hear the sound of a dog barking and a child yelling about how there was someone at the door. A distant voice called out to the door, “One moment I’m on my way.” Jecht patiently waited for the people to open the door and in a moment the door opened up a young woman maybe in her mid 20s stood in the doorway with a small child hiding behind her legs, “Yes, Can I help you?” The woman asked. Jecht looked her in the eyes and shook his head, “No Ma’am, I have important news to deliver to you about your spouse.” He said holding her gaze, he watched as her relaxed stance became rigid and tense a look of disbelief started to form in her eyes as the realization came to her mind. “No, No, No…” She muttered, Jecht could only offer a somber head shake as he proceeded with the message he was to pass to the family.
Once he was finished and the woman had resolved herself he finished the message with, “The funeral will be held at later this evening and at the cemetery listed on his paperwork. I’m sorry for your lose.” Jecht left the family home with a blank face and clenched fist, there wasn’t any easy way of delivering the news of the death of a loved one to the surviving family. There wasn’t a way to ease the blow and pain it brought and Jecht knew that no matter how long he did the whole Shinobi thing he wouldn’t ever get use to doing this. He could only hope that it was worth the death and there was honor for the fallen Shinobi.
Arriving back at the morgue to finish up the last of the proceeds Jecht was more then ready to move onto the next task at hand but he still needed to go prepare to stand guard during the funeral and entombment ceremony. So he redressed in the suit and clothing provided adorning an all black suit and shoes, a clash against what he typically wore but for occasions like this he was more then willing to move past that. The ceremony was pretty standard and void of most emotion but it didn’t make things easier, Jecht didn’t let himself get distracted by the proceedings and kept a lookout for any dangers that could interrupt this moment but luckily no one had the gall or disrespect to cause a scene or disturbance which Jecht was thankful for.
Now that the proceedings were completed it was time to head back to the morgue for one last time to get his paperwork finalized. It didn’t take long and there were no exchanges like the ones Jecht was use to having once he completed a task or request. He simply took his signed slip gave a solemn nod to the worker at the morgue and made his way onto the next task at hand. Jecht hoped that if he moved fast enough and with enough purpose he would quickly forget the task he had to complete just then and be able to regain the sense of joy he had for today. After all he had chosen to undertake this task and he could have simply taken something else but that didn’t make it any better or easier.

Re: Next Step Missions

Gladly moving onto the next task of his list of requests Jecht was more then willing to leave behind the last task. Now he needed to head to the place listed on the slip to get information on what and who he would be escorting. The slip mentioned a famous builder of sorts that needed escorted but beyond that it wasn’t very in depth. Jecht arrived at the tavern that he would be getting the rest of the information on the request approaching the barkeep for guidance he was then pointed to another table in the building with a group of people at the table, some of them were armed and gave off the aura of veteran fighters.
“Morning, I’m here because of an escort request.” Jecht said as he stood in front of the table producing the slip to the table, one of the men grabbed the slip looked it over and nodded his head which made the biggest guy there begin to speak. “Yes, we require an additional hand to help us escort Mr. Proctor. It’s a simple escort from here to the work site just outside the village. I’m at least glad they didn’t send us some child to aid us.” The man spoke as he approved of Jecht at least from appearance, “Now I just hope you have something that backs up the looks.” He said with a sigh, the man simply wished for this job to be done as he had dealt with Mr. Proctor for quite a few days now and the problems never seemed to end with this person.
“I will warn you now, Mr. Proctor is proud and loud. The perfect combination for a smooth job as I’m sure you are aware.” The leader of the group said with clear tone of sarcasm. “So be prepared for any kind of trouble from bandits to other Shinobi.” He warned as he arose from the table with the group following along as they went to pick up Mr. Proctor. Jecht followed behind already vigilant as they made their way through the twists and turns of the village down backroads and shortcuts that Jecht didn’t know about previously but noted for future use in case he needed it. Finally they arrived at the location where Mr. Proctor seemed to be waiting at, The man who they needed to escort stood barely at the height to come past Jecht’s chest. The small man wore plain wire glasses and adorned a goatee of black hair though it seemed all the hair on his chin had taken priority of the hair anywhere else on his head.
“Oh great we got another musclehead to escort us, well at least he looks scary enough.” Mr. Proctor spewed without hesitiation waving his hands in the air as he begun to make his way out of the building and towards the location of the job site. “If its all the same to you I will stick close to Mr. Proctor. I am quite confident in my speed and strength.” Jecht mentioned to the leader of the guards who nodded his head and arranged the rest of the group in a circle around both Jecht and Mr. Proctor which organically changed its detail to fit into the width of the paths they took sometimes having half in front and behind others changing into a wedge formation but otherwise the formation flowed easily which Jecht was thankful for as it meant that he had some people to rely on for the trip itself.
For most of the trip it was smooth sailing, it was almost enough to have Jecht let his guard down but even the old man knew he couldn’t get complacent all because there was something in the universe that stated if you relaxed bad things where going to happen to you. Which of course meant that now that Jecht was thinking of it some unsavory looking people approached the group, with clear intent of not moving or avoiding them. “Well I guess its time to earn our keep.” Jecht joked as he put himself more in front of Mr. Proctor who of course expressed his annoyance but Jecht just didn’t pay him any mind. They weren’t far from where they needed to go and he wasn’t going to fail any mission. The group clashed not with a loud bang but with silent and quick motions, blades were drawn and pulled from hidden places the exchange took mere moments to finish. Jecht wasn’t even needed for this exchange, the guards that had already been protecting Mr. Proctor dispatched the enemy quickly and with efficiency. Jecht simply remained on alert in case of additional attack or a possible ambush as this would be the perfect time to strike now that the group would let their guard down having dispatched the obvious threat but there was no more attacks.
Upon reaching the jobsite Mr. Proctor went with the fellow builders and started barking orders almost immediately completely within his personality of course. The leader of the escort group handed Jecht a scroll that had the paperwork he needed to turn in for the completion of the job. “While you weren’t active in the fight since you were here to protect Mr. Proctor my men could focus solely on dispatching the enemies, so I will thank you for giving them that peace of mind there.” The man said to Jecht as he nodded to him and went about his own business. Jecht took the scroll and headed off to his next task. He was itching for a fight since he didn’t get to actively engage in any combat but he figured he would just go to the training fields and see if he couldn’t find a spar there with someone but for now he needed to head to his second to last task so that he could turn in all these requests and get on with his day.
“Just two more to go and I’m done for the time.” Jecht thought to himself as he looked over his list of requests.

Re: Next Step Missions

Now to decide on what task to do next, Jecht only had two more to go and then he was done for the day. He took a look over his list to reacquaint himself with them, he could either go to the Adoption Center once more to help them with a new task as he had previously helped repair the building and round up some of the escaped occupants or he could turn and go to the Painter’s Guild to help them once more too, last time simply helping with the cleaning of their tools and items that was vastly behind due to the lack of personnel they had. A sad state for a place meant to foster creativity and expression. Jecht decided that he would rather deal with animals at the moment then they creatively inclined and turned on his heel to head that direction.
It wasn’t long before the once run down building of the adoption center came into view, though it seems that funding or simply other volunteers have come together and improved the looks of the building greatly it no longer was run down in looks and was presentable from what you could expect from a proper adoption center. The paint fresh and a lacking amount of holes in the walls for its tenants to use as exits for unwarranted excursions. “Well would you look here.” Jecht said with a whistle, the transformation was noticeable and it was a good look. “Now what could they possible need help with now that they look all prim and proper?” He wondered to himself as he entered the building. The inside renovated and updated as well, approaching the counter Jecht sought out the worker there producing the mission slip and earning a look of recognition from the same worker.
“Welcome back Mr. Jecht.” The worker greeted the tanned shirtless man who he thought at first interaction was some homeless thug looking to cause trouble but learned quickly that he was a very kind person and more than willing to do the work needed to complete the tasks given. “I see you are here to help once more.” The worker said with a smile as he gestured for the tall man to come around the counter to the office where the owner had set up their office. “Our owner will take care of you this time around.”
Jecht nodded his head and went into the office as directed, seeing a man in his mid-40s sitting behind a worn desk and seeming to be reading over various documents on his desk. “Excuse me, I’m here to complete the request the Adoption Center put up.” Jecht spoke up putting the slip on the desk and taking a seat in the office patiently waiting. The man looked up at him and was more annoyed to see what looked to be a homeless bum in his office with no shirt or shoes on. “The standard of the Shinobi of the village seem to have fallen if this is what they sent us.” The old man would say, “What’s wrong did you give up being a thug and figured you would mooch of the Village to get easy money?” The distain filled the older man’s voice as he looked at Jecht.
“Oh my dear man, I will forgive the words you speak against me as I’m here to complete the task as needed but I will only allow it this time and not once more.” Jecht said with a smile and a calmness that spoke of certainty. “Direct me to what needs done so I can get out of your well I would say hair but it seems life hasn’t been kind to you on that front so I’ll say sight.” His eyes glancing at the balding of the older man. A huff came from the senior and with a shake of his head he decided it wasn’t worth pursuing the conversation, “Go clean up the critters in the cages back there so We can get them a home.” The owner said with a dismissive hand wave. Jecht stood and gave a mocking bow towards the owner and begun to collect the needed supplies for the task ahead. He was still familiar with the original layout of the building and beyond some minor changes he was able to find what he needed without issue. The next part of the task was going to be the fun part as it was hit or miss on if the animals in question would want to be washed or bathed in any capacity.
This didn’t deter the older Shinobi and he was more then willing to wrestle with the critters that struggled as he was use to dealing with the more feral and wild critters outside the village, these meager animals weren’t much in comparison besides some of the dogs who Jecht was sure were half wolf hybrids. He even considered adopting one of them that bore scars and a dark coat of fur. “Let us get you cleaned up for the people so we can get you guys a home to belong too instead of these cages.” Jecht said as he gladly picked up the first animals to clean. It went about as smoothly as dealing with various animals could go. Some animals accepted the cleaning with bliss and enjoyment, just happy to get some interaction and care. Others lashed out and attempted to escape the dark skinned shinobi but Jechts immense strength easily held them in place and their swipes were hardly enough to deter the man.
It wasn’t long before the job was done and the tenants of the Adoption Center were cleaned and shimmering. Their coats brushed and unmatted, some of these animals looked top of the line pedigree specimens. Jecht was more then sure that this would increase their adoption chances and decided to follow it up with trying to teach the more obedient ones basic tricks like sit and shake. More than satisfied with his work he got the approval from the owner who was more shocked by the amount of work that had been put in and the transformation of the previously unclean critters. “Hm looks like I need to fix my own biases.” The owner huffed to himself as he signed the mission slip and sent Jecht on his way.

With the completion of the mission with the Adoption Center the only task left for Jecht for the day was to help with the Painter’s Guild once more. Since he had done a bit more hands on work with the Adoption center he was sure the work with the Painter’s Guild would be a bit more then just cleaning the tools they used, or at the very least that was what the older Shinobi was hoped for. “I hope its not just clean more of their brushes or fixing their canvases.” He thought to himself as he made his way to the Painter’s Guild which for him was on the opposite side of the Village, he enjoyed his walk through the streets. Feeling the dirt beneath his feet and the wind on his skin. Jecht engaged in small talk with those he passed when possible, building a rapport with the common folk. Showing the good side of the shinobi, maybe an unnecessary thing but one that Jecht felt would only give him benefits in the long run. After all if the people felt comfortable around their military force they would be much more likely to help or listen to them in the future and an easier time during a time of distress would be greatly beneficial if it ever comes up. “Planning for the future while tiring can pay the effort back in spades.” Jecht said to no one in particular simply stating some “old” wisdom.
The building of the Painter’s Guild came into few still having a sign with a creative flair probably made by one of the clients or members, though it seemed that some of the paint on the building was old and chipping. It greatly needed some fresh paint and Jecht was surprised that a place full of painters had been allowed to deteriorate this far. Regardless the man headed inside and approached the front desk once more, drawing a look of annoyance from the worker but also a look of acknowledgement, “Ah, Mr. Jecht if I remember correctly. Back to help us once more?” The worker asked looking at the slip produced by Jecht, “Oh good this is just what we needed. We need you help with repainting the building as I’m sure you have seen from the outside.” The worker pointed out to which they were greeted with a look of annoyance from Jecht. “You know I was just thinking on why this hadn’t been taken care of with all you artsy types here.” A long sigh came from the dark-skinned man but he was resolved to finish out the tasks he had chosen.
“Alright just point me to the paint and tools and I’ll get it started.” Jecht said with resignation as the worker chuckled and gave the needed directions and instructions on what Jecht needed to do to complete this to satisfaction of the guild. Jecht moved slowly to grab these items as he simply didn’t think it was worth his time to repaint a whole building did the guild understand how long and how much effort it was to repaint a building? A wall itself depending on the size could take hours especially to make sure it was fully painted with multiple coats and to make it water resistant and weather resistant. Jecht begrudgingly carried the items outside, a large tarp to cover the ground to avoid any messes and ease the clean up, a ladder to reach the highest places, a roller brush with a pole to help with the prior and an apron to wrap around Jechts waist to keep the only clothes Jecht decided wear free of paint and the likes.
It wasn’t a quick task and it wasn’t a particularly exciting or fun task like how some of the prior ones had been. Jecht wasn’t void of creativity but he simply didn’t see a reason to go out of his way to make this wall look fancy or make a mural on it. He would leave that to the painters and artists in the guild to figure out. He was here to do the base work and make the walls a canvas they could use if they so chose to in the future. So he did so, he worked and painted and painted and continued to do so till the chips were gone and new paint had taken their place, he did everything he had been instructed too. It wasn’t one of great renown but the new paint job should last for quite some time as he had made sure to remove the old paint where possible and give the new paint a solid and clean surface to bond too.
Drips and drops of paint spotted the apron and the skin of Jecht, who knew he would need to scrub for a while to get most of this off as some of it wasn’t going to be able to be cleaned off with paint thinner but that was a task for future Jecht for now he simply needed to head inside, return the items and paint back to their homes and get his slip signed by the front desk worker. Which took a meager amount of time. He was now finished with his tasks and he could go turn them in for the rewards and head on home for the day to get some food and much needed shower and rest.
