A Spooktacular Holiday

After a while of lying in his bed he bookmarked the book where he left off and placed it back on his bedside table as he laid back and relaxed in order to take himself a quick nap. Sleep came quickly to him due to how tired he was due to the toils he had put himself through in the day and he could feel himself falling deeply into darkness as his consciousness faded into the deeper recesses of his mind. He once again was in a dream as he was walking around an open and dark field, grass beneath his bare feet, as he walked along the field as their were splotches of tall grass here and there that reached up to his waist. He moved his hand over the blades, his fingers grazing the green as it tickled the skin of his fingers, as he felt a sincere sense of peace from his setting even though he had no idea where he was or if any of this was real. The grass certainly felt real but then again most of his dreams tended to look and feel real in his mind. He snipped a bit of grass off and looked around as a breeze made it's way over the plains and him giving a slight chill to him which was welcome. Taking a deep breath Daiki looked up to the sky as he could see a beautiful swirl of stars moving around in the cosmos above him which caused him to sit down and lay in the grass in order to get comfortable.

It was a surreal and strange feeling for Daiki. He knew that this was a dream and yet it felt so real as he twirled the piece of grass in his fingers, feeling the soft yet sharp edges moving around on the tips of his fingers, before he let the wind take it away and he relaxed a bit more while continuing to gaze up at the stars. After a little while, however, he slowly got back up to his feet and looked around the field in order to find the source behind why he was here. The place was simply too real for him and the only source that usually was responsible for something like this was usually always close by. This time, however, the old man was nowhere to be seen as he cracked his knuckles expecting to be ambushed by him at any moment all while keeping his senses and chakra sharp ready for anything that was to come for him. Chakra soon surrounded his hands and feet as he crouched into a fighting stance and tried to drown out the sounds of the moving grass around him to hear the more outward sounds of the outside of the field. It wasn't really working all that well as the sounds of the grass was actually getting louder somehow which caused him to think that he was possibly in a Genjutsu. Thinking that he brought his hands together and formed a seal as he focused his chakra on halting the flow and he expelled it outwards from his body into the surroundings.

The Genjutsu release technique actually seemed to work as the sounds of the grass faded back into a quiet little murmur and he looked around to find that he had been put into not only an auditory Genjutsu but also an ocular one. As the Genjutsu faded away into his vision came a standing scarecrow with a sign hanging from it around it's neck stating just two simple words: Happy Halloween. Daiki shook his head with a grimace as he walked over and kicked the scarecrow away with his strength, causing it to fly several yards backwards before ramming into a tree and splintering apart, as he muttered the word "Dick." under his breath. After that he could feel himself being pulled out of his dream state and back into his real body as he woke up with a start and jumped up from his position in order to sit up straight and get his senses in order. He first tried to get his bearings straight as he looked around his dark room, his eyes having adjusted to where he could see the silhouette of everything of his clearly even in the darkness, before he wiped his eyes and flipped his legs over the side of his bed. He looked at his alarm clock and saw that the time read 3:00 AM which made him curse to himself due to how tired he still felt. He got up to his feet and walked over to his refrigerator in order to get himself a glass of water before he would try and get to sleep again.

Upon pouring himself a nice glass of water he reached into his freezer and pulled out a few cubes of ice in order to toss into the glass and make the water as cold as possible. Taking a sip he could feel a slight chill running through him and the air as he turned to see a bit of a draft making it's way inside through his open window as his window covers were softly fluttering in response to it. It was actually a welcome draft as it helped chill the place up a bit but he knew he couldn't let it keep going for long as there was always the possibility it would make him sick as he slept. Thus he walked over and shut the window before finishing off his water, washing the glass in the sink, and making his way back to his bed in order to collapse on top of it and try to catch a few more zs. He looked up at his ceiling as he tried to nod off back to sleep, imagining the paint drying in order to try and bore himself into dreamland, as he breathed slowly and calmly and listened to his breathing in the quietness of his dark bedroom.

It wouldn't be long before his eyes closed once again and he took in one last deep breath before he could feel the last dregs of his consciousness leaving him in order to let him get his rest. He didn't know if he was going to go back to the dream state he was in before where he would be in the world of the old man in his mind once again but he frankly just wanted to get some more shut eye due to how used to the whole experience he was. He had fought this off so many times at this point that he was becoming desensitized to the whole affair as he relaxed his head into his pillow. Suddenly, however, he was shot awake as he heard something heavy clatter against the glass of his closed window. It was so loud he was afraid that the window was going to break as he shot up out of bed and looked at the window in order to examine it. He luckily didn't see anything damaged but he certainly wanted to check out and see what it was that had hit the window in the first place. He thus opened it up and stuck his head through in order to look at the ground just outside and he saw something buried in the bushes. He hopped through the window and out onto the street in order to get a better look as he dug the item out of the bushes in order to see a hard and almost metallic looking stone that had multiple colors running through it's surface much like a rainbow. He didn't know what to make of it... but he wasn't going to just leave it lying around. He thus hopped back into his home through his window and shut it behind him as he prepared to examine the strange stone.
