Mission info:

It was dead in the middle of the night.

"So, this is the most securely guarded building in the whole village?" Saturn was nagging the old receptionist. He had been called to duty. His drinking plans had been interrupted once again - he had barely taken his seat at the corner table at The Drunken Kage when a raven flew in from the window and demanded his immediate attention. He was disappointed when he discovered that he was expected to patrol the ninja headquarters - located in the same building as the Raikage Chambers. The receptionist just hmed and nodded her head, glossing over reports on her desk. "So, we've got no less than twenty highly qualified guards posted here, and also the - respectfully - damn Raikage?"

"Yeah."

She replied briefly, visibly distraught by the nagging along with her pile of work on her own desk.

"So.."

Saturn swigged from his flask, leaning over at the desk with his elbow on the table,

"Do I get paid overtime for working such late hours or...?"

"Broke boy, I'll pay you double to leave me alone. Just man the post outside."

She replied coldly, but the offer of ryo was impossible for Saturn to resist.

"Deal."

He sighed as he walked outside, a cold smoke leaving from his mouth on his exhalation before he could even spark his smoke. It was freezing cold. He lit his joint aflame and took a puff. Behind him, a senior shinobi who was supposed to monitor the Genin on their internship scoffed and shook his head. The fortuneteller was a hardworking shinobi with too many missions logged to count. He even had a bronze medallion of labor. He looked back at the senior and nodded his head. He would let the Genin off the hook this time, it was an easy job after all.

He looked into the distance, the faint lights from the village could be seen clearly from the cliff that overlooked Kumogakure. He then walked, deciding to patrol the surrounding by doing a lap around the building and hopefully running into a familiar face along the way to keep him company.

He had seen a pale familiar face with demonic traits in the lobby, from the side of his eye. Although he intended to approach him, he had forgotten about him when he stepped outside for his smoke.

His round around the headquarters was less than noteworthy. He had not noticed any suspicious activity - which was both a relief and a disappointment to the Genin whose missions tended to get bizarre on the regular. Although a small part of him regretted not getting caught up with an interesting offshoot to his mundane mission, he was grateful that he could have a mundane mission for once.

Earlier that day Yōkye was appointed a raven of his own to deliver to him about a mission of patrol. As he read the letter he stopped on the insignia and name of the Raikage. Thinking back to the day and words that his mother departed to him. “Family…the Raikage is my family.” He reflected on the memory. His father, Giichi Sato, which in turn actually makes him Yōkye Sato, shared a few similar traits. Both pale in comparison, Yōkye clearly inherited this from his father as his mother was lava red. They are both insanely strong and had a knack for close quarters combat from what his mother told him. If he’s not mistaken, he’s part Hiyu and Ushitora. It would explain the black upper lip he has.

Before Saturn had arrived to the headquarters Yōkye was already there, fast to work. The Ushitora was introduced to all the shinobi there by one of the senior shinobi. To his subtle surprise they all already knew of him, not through his connection to Ichigo Sato, but through his impressive list of off the record missions while under his mother’s guidance and before even hitting the academy - which is why they are considered “off the record”. 4 S-rank missions, 14 A-rank missions, 34 B-rank missions, 39 C-rank missions, 2 D-rank missions and 0 E-rank missions. They all praised the Oni for his accomplishments, but he was only following orders. He found little to no reason for them to be so proud. It was unnecessary.

Standing atop of one of the lookout towards, a few meters above the headquarters entrance the alabaster demon stood with both hands within his pockets as he look over the village. He was unaware of how close to his brother he was. The wind gently brushed through his hair as it swayed between his eyes and horns. His facial expression was blank, unreadable. The focus of the Genin was not split, yet he couldn’t help but to allow himself to think on what he would say to Ichigo should the chance ever arise. Yes, he is aware of him being his younger brother. Yōkye’s mother requested a personal audience with him herself, explaining everything to him before she departed the village. Was this…the reason for him being in this particular mission?

A side conversation would break his focus, shifting his cat-like green eyes downward towards two individuals speaking. One of them he recognized and the other was someone he met when he started his shift. “Him… So he’s been assigned to this mission as well. I see.” Any ideas that he may have had about this mission being something of family connecting was discarded from his mental after seeing Saturn. This was yet another run of the mill mission. It was a good thing that he did not allow himself to run with such a insignificant thought.

His eyes gradually returned to the layout of the village before him. From his stance, the village seemed quiet, still, hollow…there wasn’t much going on from a first glance.

Saturn returned from his long round around the turf towards the very end of his shift. He had not noticed any suspicious activity - it was to be expected. No bandit in their right mind would be dumb enough to cause any mischief in the heavily patrolled area. Upon seeing Yokye again, he would give his acquaintance a subtle nod from across the hall on his way to collect a duffel bag from the receptionist. He peered inside to check how much ryo she had handed him, and was pleased with the amount. It was decent pay for a mundane task.
