Genin Training Grounds

Jay sat there thinking to himself for a moment reflecting on his first official mission he had just completed not long ago, the mission was a success although at the same time it was difficult because he had no weapons and could not perform any jutsu when it was really needed in the moment, that's why he had come to the training grounds in order to learn some of the Jutsu his father had described in his shinobi journal that was left to Jay. One of the jutsu in the journal popped out to him and was something that could be used in a variety of situations for future missions, the Water Clone Jutsu appeared to be one of his dad's favorite jutsu and was something Jay believed he could pull off as his first elemental jutsu, Jay was already very good at performing the regular Clone Jutsu that he learned in the academy so he believed the Water Clone would come naturally to him since his natural affinity was with water. He read all the information that his father left about the technique including the hand seals which were the following Tiger > Snake > Dragon > Clone Seal, after a few minutes of studying Jay stood up he felt ready to make his first attempt using a nearby pool as a source of water in order to make it easier since he would not need to generate his own water, he focused on the chakra pool in his stomach performing the hand seals needed to perform the Water Clone Jutsu watching as a large orb of water rose from the pool attempting to shape itself into a form matching Jay although it would fail mid way through with the water falling back into the pool.

At first he was completely confused it seemed to work at first and it felt good to him even though he clearly had some work to do in order to get the outcome he desired, he stood there for a second taking a deep breathe in order to clear his mind and focus on the chakra running through himself, next Jay began to perform the hand seals over and over multiple times attempting to make his hand seals more accurate along with building the proper muscle memory. Now he was ready to attempt the Jutsu once again he closed his eyes taking in a deep breathe he began to perform the necessary hand seals required to perform the Water Clone, once again just like last time a large orb of water began to rise from the pool shifting and flowing in different directions as Jay struggled to get full control this technique was much different to perform than the ordinary Clone Jutsu he had been performing for years now, his father was able to completely master this technique by the age of 15 able to make up to 8 different clones at certain times although it did spread his chakra out. At this point Jay needed a break his mind was beginning to run wild with crazy ideas since he had spent all day out here training, attempting the training with his father gone made him respect his father even more than he had before Jay could not imagine being able to produce 8 water clones at this age, it really made him feel angry at himself for being so complacent that he couldn't even produce ONE single water clone which he figured would be the easiest technique for him to copy, not only the Water Clone Jutsu but his father had mastered multiple different Water Style jutsu by the time he graduated into a Chunin.

The next morning Jay would arrive back at the training grounds early in the morning the sun had just risen enough for it to be lit enough outside to read, there was another technique in his fathers journal that was interesting to him it was a Water Style technique that allowed the user to manipulate water which allowed them to create multiple mini Shurikens out of water that they could launch in order to do damage from a range, this jutsu would be extremely useful because it would allow Jay to have long range projectiles to use in combat without needing to carry multiple sets of Shuriken on him which would only weigh him down and cause more trouble in his ninja tool pouch, Jay would not need to manipulate a lot of water at one time which might make it easier to control and mold the few Shuriken rather than attempting to create a living copy of a human corpse which would require more chakra and control to perform. The hand seals were not much different from the Water Clone Jutsu the Water Release: Shuriken's hand seals were as follows Tiger > Boar > Snake, Jay stood up taking his first crack at performing this Jutsu since his fathers journal said this jutsu would be easier for a beginner to learn which would give Jay the knowledge he needed to move onto some more difficult water style techniques, he readied himself getting into his stance taking in a deep breathe he opened his eyes beginning to perform the hand seals for the Water Release: Shuriken Jutsu which seemed to work well as 3 small orbs of water appeared in front of him forming into Shuriken that were about double the size of ordinary Shuriken, still in control Jay stepped forward throwing his hand out like he was throwing an object which caused the Shuriken to fly away all in separate directions.

Although this attempt was technically a fail since none of the Shuriken he created hit the target at least this time he had managed to control their form and actually launch them which was much further in the process than he got with the Water Clone technique, he got into his stance once more performing the required seals quicker than he had before he was beginning to get the feel for it since his body was adapting to the training granting him some form of muscle memory, once again just like last time 3 orbs of water about the size of base balls rose from the pool of water spinning and forming into the shape of Shuriken which floated in place as Jay looked at them with pride, this time he took a different approach instead of throwing them like he would a rock he threw his hands forward almost as if he was aiming and directing the Shuriken with his hands and although none of the Shuriken hit the target they were all far closer than before only missing by a few feet instead of several dozen feet like he had earlier that morning. Jay took a break sitting down and making himself a meal he had some instant ramen which was not his favorite thing to eat but when he was away from home or the village where he could get a better meal the instant ramen would work, after eating he would sleep at the base of a nearby tree for the next couple hours in order to rest he was still young and his chakra reserves were not that great yet he could only practice for so long before most of his chakra had been spent practicing his Water Shuriken Jutsu, after waking up it was time to train again although it was gonna get dark soon the sky was bright orange as if the sun had begun to set which gave the sky a beautiful glow, he gave the Water Clone Jutsu another shot focusing on the chakra pool in his stomach he performed the hand seals Tiger > Snake > Dragon > Clone Seal, he watched as one large orb of water came out of the pool and began to float in front of him shaking and twirling as he attempted to mold the water using his chakra, he struggled heavily focusing on all the small details he needed to get right in order to make a complete clone that had it's own consciousness, Jay was further than he had ever gotten before what looked like the shape of legs began to form before it fell to the ground with the Jutsu failing completely.

" I JUST CAN'T DO IT ", he let out a yell of frustration balling up both his fist as his body began to shake all he wanted was to become a shinobi following in the foot steps of his father, he just wanted to be someone his dad would of been proud of and to Jay it burned him inside thinking his dad might be watching him fail at this very moment, he was not going to give up that would be the ultimate sign of disrespect towards his father and the Yuki Clan he would continue day after day staying at this ONE spot until his goals of learning new Jutsu have come to pass and he can perform them on command at any time, unfortunately for Jay it was the end of the training day for him as the rest of the light left the area leaving Jay to sleep under the same tree and in the same place as the last night. Once again the young Yuki woke up early to train hoping today would finally be the day he could perform both the jutsu he had been working on from his fathers journal, they were not super complicated techniques although for a Genin like Jay who never really had anyone to teach him learning it himself was going to take longer than most others his age who had families and Clans that could help them to train, the fact his father had passed on also gave him a burning desire to keep going and to succeed in order to honor him and the clans lineage. He sat down and crossed his legs closing his eyes he focused within himself attempting to feel the chakra moving through himself he remembered the previous day and how everything felt while he was training, Jay was close to pulling them off but there was something at the end which was blocking him when it came to the Water Clone Jutsu which was confusing and infuriating at the same time, he wondered to himself did he have enough chakra but it wasn't that likely the fact that Jay was not efficient about using the chakra he had he needed more precise chakra control, his hand seals were improving for sure at this point he had practiced all the signs hundreds of times.

At that moment another person entered the same area that Jay was training in they had a headband and looked to be in their teens so they were likely another Genin, they were headed right for Jay who stood up to face them as they approached knowing that the Mist can be a very unfriendly place and not all Mist shinobi get along, the man stopped about 10 meters in front of Jay verbally issuing a sparring challenge in order to test one another.

" Hey you, I've been watching you train for a few minutes how about we spar in order to test each other I wanna see what you are made of, anything goes short of kill shots " the man backed up a few feet and stood there smiling in an almost menacing way.

" Alright " Jay was ready to do this he can finally test his new skills in a sparring match to get the feel for using Ninjutsu mid battle and it would prepare him for any future missions.

The man rushed forward throwing a four punch combination that started with a left jab followed by a right and left hook all of which were dodged or blocked and the combination was finished with a front push kick aimed at Jay's chest, the kick landed pushing him backwards about 10 feet giving the other shinobi time to advance on him once again going on the defense as now a side kick was thrown that sent Jay flying backwards onto his side, he did his best to roll with the impact quickly standing to his feet although his body was feeling the effects of both the kick and the fall he was still determined to fight and the damage was not substantial enough to do any lasting harm. Jay had finally adjusted and come up with a game plan he wanted to attempt in order to combat his opponent who seemed to favor aggression and Taijutsu as their fighting style, Jay performed Ram > Snake > Tiger hand seals and 3 clones appeared aside him they all rushed at the same time surrounding the other man in order to confuse him they would not advance instead feinting strikes hoping to distract him from detecting which target is the real Jay, Clone #1 rushed forward with jumping kick that did nothing other than confuse him so Jay could attack from his blind spot landing a jumping kick to the shoulder of his opponent which sent him skidding about 5 meters across the dirt. Jay now had his opportunity to strike he could finish his plan if he could upgrade to water clones which all could physically attack he would have the advantage against this Taijutsu user, the one thing saving him here is that Jay is incredibly fast for a Genin never having lost a race to anyone the same rank as himself so he bases his fighting style off his speed allowing him to dodge and avoid strikes to drag out the fight although there is always the risk of early damage, he raised his hands beginning another series of hand seals in order to produce water clones as two streams of water sprung up from the pool landing in front of Jay and forming into real Water Clones he had finally succeeded in using the Water Clone Jutsu, all 3 of them rushed forward attacking the man at the same time working together to strike at his blind spots and to coordinate their attacks together.

Finally a kick broke through landing on the mid section of the other Genin who let out a deep grunt followed up by a flying knee from his first Water Clone which sent the man in the opposite direction a few feet landing on his back, the man turned over pushing himself to his knees right as Water Clone #2 came over kicking him in the ribs knocking the teenager back over flat on his back as the shinobi croaked unable to breathe since the wind was knocked out of him.

" That's my Yuki Clone 3 A Barrage, I think we should call it here you don't look like your in the condition to continue "

" No ... I can continue " the boys voice was weaker than normal and it was obvious his ribs were badly bruised and his nose was completely broken which made breathing difficult.

Jay did not want to seriously injure his fellow comrade although at the same time if his opponent did not wish to surrender it would be a sign of disrespect to go on easy on them just because they are injured, Water Clone #1 rushed at the man grappling with the opponent in order to get control of his wrist at the same time both Water Clone #2 and the real Jay leaped into the air both of them coming down and landing on the Genin with dual strikes that slammed the teenager into the ground, the fight was over he was still somewhat conscious but he was speaking nonsense and he was unfit to continue sparring which left Jay Yuki as the winner, he was extremely happy because not only did he prove to himself that he could use the Water Clone Jutsu he also used it to defeat someone in battle which made him confident for his next mission.

Hey, so you're slightly making claims wrong.

WC which you're putting towards getting stats doesn't interfere with what you have to claim techs. Therefore, with this post alone you can claim 26 stat points as you hav over 2600 words.

Ok I see what I did wrong, I reread the Jutsu Overview and it still equals out to around 2500 words in total for a B and C rank Jutsu so I assume it should still work.

Hey, so slightly off again hahah;

Keep the WC being spent on techs learned, it just doesn't interfere with gaining stats. Also, keep in mind you must still spend the amount of WC specified at the bottom of those techs in order to get them.
