He didn't know whether he walked for hours, or maybe a few minutes; time had become a fluid concept in the desolate expanse of the borderlands of Hoshigakure. The weight of his mission pressed upon him like a relentless tempest, but as he trod deeper into the wilderness, a light beckoned him from the periphery of his vision. It was a shadow unlike any he had seen before, a shimmering, yet stygian glow that danced on the fringes of his consciousness. Its allure was undeniable, casting a radiant spell that threatened to ensnare his very soul.
Temptation whispered in the wind, deceptive and alluring. It whispered promises of respite, of escape from the ceaseless hunt. Enishi's steps faltered, his resolve wavered. The light seemed to call to a part of him that yearned for release, for a reprieve from the darkness that had defined his existence. He knew not the source of this spectral light, nor the consequences of yielding to its temptation. It was an enigma, a riddle that tugged at the edges of his sanity. For a fleeting moment, he contemplated veering from his path, surrendering to the allure of the unknown.
No, I can't. Not now. Not never.
Kakugo.
With a final, resolute step, Enishi turned away from the shadow, his heart aflame with purpose. The mission, the hunt, the protection of Hoshigakure – these were the true beacons that guided him through the darkness. He knew that he could not yield to temptation, for he had a debt to repay and a promise to uphold.
If the shadow of sin dared tempt him, he would become its greater version, a light that would beguile everything else to surrender in damnation.
