Re: The Man of Your Dreams [Event-Halloween] (IO)

Den was thankful that the woman shot down some more water shuriken as he made his way back up the tower. Some of the monsters he would have had to fight past were instead quickly dispatched as he ran upward. In the end, he only had to cut down a few himself as he ran up towards the woman.
Den was a bit disappointed to hear that the woman didn't have a plan, the one he had come up with wasn't very good. Unfortunately, it seemed to be their only option, so he proceeded to the center of the roof as quickly as possible. A few of the monsters had managed to get to the top it seemed, and he silently cursed again as he realized he wouldn't have much time or space to perform the reckless maneuver he had planned. He moved quickly to try and dispatch the faster monsters as quickly as possible as they rushed towards him and Junko, his katana cutting through each one as he tried to hurry and finish them off before the rest of the swarm reached the top.
As Den fought the monsters he noticed Junko racing towards one with her Tanto drawn. He began to backpedal away from the beasts he was fighting and towards her, his focus shifting as he feared she might be suddenly struck down. Such things were commonplace in his nightmares, often his imagined allies would be slaughtered around him before he would finally be defeated. Instead of events going as normal though Den witnessed the woman slide beneath the strange beast and cut into it from below, performing an impressive but reckless stunt that got her covered in the 'blood' of the monster she slew. Den had to admit the attack had been quite cool, and he doubted he would succeed if he attempted such a thing himself.
With Junko no longer seemingly in danger, Den refocused on the beasts he was backpedaling from, suddenly going from retreating to advancing as he attempted to strike down several of the beasts in as many swings. Fortunately, the beasts were quite slow and their reactions poor, the former Tenkage managed to hit his mark each time as he maneuvered around the beasts and cut them down. A chuckle escaped his lips as he danced around the clumsy oafs, thankful that his imagination had at least conjured up weak foes for him to face in his weakened state. He doubted he would be able to enjoy combat in the waking world but at least he could feel powerful in this dream.
As he finished cutting down the swifter of the creatures Den noticed that the rest of the swarm was beginning to lumber its way over the edge of the building and onto the roof. A mad grin briefly played across Den's face as he looked upon all of the weak enemies that were surrounding him like lambs unknowingly being herded to their slaughter. The feeling passed as quickly as it came however, the former Tenkage took a deep breath to calm himself and try and push down his growing bloodlust. It was getting more and more difficult to control the natural energy that was gathering inside him, his chakra continuing to mix with it at inconsistent rates. His only hope now was to try and release a large torrent of his chakra and hope that he managed to expel the natural energy along with it. This unfortunately carried a big risk with it as well, if Den expelled chakra that wasn't infused with natural energy then he would immediately lose himself to the rage of the natural berserker bloodline he possessed.
Arriving at the center of the rooftop Den silently cursed once again, he really didn't like the plan he had made but unfortunately, he didn't have many other options. Looking at the beautiful woman that he had mysteriously shown up Den decided to throw caution to the wind and just go with it, this was just a dream after all. Sheathing his sword Den would reach out with his left hand and attempt to grab the woman by the waist, pulling her in close to him, "I'm going to flood the entire roof... I need you to hop onto my back and hold on if you don't want to get pushed off."
As he finished speaking he would lean down towards Junko and attempt to give her a deep, passionate kiss, some twisted part of him finding the idea of being next to a beautiful woman and surrounded by enemies to be romantic. His right hand would reach up and softly caress her cheek as he leaned toward her, the former Tenkage having to mentally restrain himself from grabbing her by the back of the neck and pulling her into the kiss instead. This wasn't the sort of thing Den would ever do in the real world but he decided to
After a moment Den would pull away and help Junko climb onto his back, making sure she was secure before he would begin to enact his plan. I really hope this works, otherwise, this poor woman is going to have to find somewhere to hide quickly.
The strange creatures would be getting close to Den and Junko's location by the time the former Tenkage began doing his hand seals, but thankfully he had enough time to complete the string before Junko and him were attacked. His hands formed the hare, monkey, ram, and dog seals before he leaned forward, hoping Junko had a good grip on him as he began forcing a large quantity of chakra up his throat.
This was going to be the big gamble. As Den kneaded chakra within his body to activate this technique he hoped to manage to put some of the natural energy he had gathered into it, perhaps buying him some time before it overwhelmed him completely and he went into a rampage. It seemed his ability to manipulate natural energy was greatly diminished within this dream, he no longer could manipulate it as a Sage could.
Hoping that the mass of chakra he was kneading was filled with natural energy Den would release it out of his mouth in the form of a torrent of water, propelling him and Junko into the air moments before the creatures would reach and attack the two of them. Den and Junko would be lifted several meters into the air on a collum of water as waves began to form beneath them, traveling outwards towards the edge of the roof as they smashed through the swarm of monsters. Den would continue to expel the water from his mouth and maintain the column as the waves pushed all of the monsters on the roof off and they tumbled towards the ground below. He hoped that the chakra he was using to form this giant wave contained some of the natural energy he had been gathering within this dream, otherwise he didn't think he was going to be able to hold on any longer. The back of his neck tingled and he felt the hairs there stand on end. Even though he was fighting weak foes and his use of ninjutsu was pathetic he found himself enjoying this.
Through his chakra sensory, Den could detect the monsters all falling away from the rooftop, hopefully, this was a decent portion of the foes they had to face. Den wasn't sure what he would do if this continued. If he managed to retain his sanity he would have to formulate a new plan soon, but if he lost control then he would at least gain access to some of his sage abilities once more. As he continued to struggle against the energy gathering within him he wondered if he should perhaps stop, if letting go might be the right decision. As slow as these beasts were, if he used the power of his transformation he would be able to defeat them easily.

The two of them were actually holding their own consistently against this horde, but it seemed that both knew they would soon be overwhelmed. For a few moments as their ideas brewed, Junko had her clones continuing to serve as distractions near the edge of the roof. Thankfully these creatures things were slow, unorganized, and easy to fool. She had a few moments to weigh her options.
Her clones swiftly dispatched a handful of the swarm. They simply would each get one to chase them, then once two had one they would run towards each other, then cause them to collide. By doing this they managed to push multiple off the ledge and provide some adequate cover. Giving the two of them some momentary respite.
She then put away her tanto and quickly pulled 5 senbon from a pouch on her opposite leg. She didn't really want to use these but her options were currently very limited. She did have one more potential option but for the time being, it seemed that it wouldn't be as effective, so she decided to hold off for now. She hoped that similar to how her water shurikens penetrated the thin skin of the creatures, her senbons would be able to do the same.
As some slipped past her clone's shenanigans she began to take aim. She planted her feet firmly and attempted to throw each one individually at a different target. Hoping to hit them somewhere on their bulbous "head". Lining up each shot, she was able to disperse 5 quite easily.
"I'm actually becoming okay at this, we might be able to stand a chance if we keep this up. Hopefully soon one of us will come up with something."
Now without any kind of ranged option she brandished her tanto once again since it was all she currently had. She looked over to the man and watched as he almost playfully slew a decent amount of the creatures. Previously he seemed not inclined to start a fight, reluctant to even. However as she observed him it seemed as if he was enjoying this, noticing that he'd chuckle occasionally.
She retreated back to the very center of the roof and stood beside the man as a majority of the swam was beginning to reach the top. While she gazed anxiously at the upcoming horde, she felt the man's hand around her waist as he pulled her in close. She looked up at him to see a near-manic expression as he spoke to her in a somewhat commanding tone.
She let out a slight sigh of relief thankful that he had come up with something. For a moment it seemed to her as if time slowed down. A light blush began appearing on her cheeks as they gazed at each other, seeming to not care about the situation they were currently in. He then caressed her cheek and leaned down towards her. She only had a few seconds to decide if she wanted to do this or not.
This feels like something I'd read in one of those Icha Icha novels Emi gave me. Why does this have to be some crazy dream!
As the sound of her own heartbeat began to ring in her ears, she placed her hand on his chest and impulsively lifted her head to lean into his embrace.
"This dream just keeps on getting better and better I suppose. I'm glad you have some tricks up your sleeve"
Soon he released her and she climbed on his back, wrapping her legs around his lower torso and putting her arms around his neck. She made sure not to hold on too tight for fear of choking him. She held on tightly to him as she watched him perform the hand seals, and quickly annihilate nearly the whole swarm with a large crushing wave of water. She was in complete awe, she had never known something like that was even possible.
"If we ever meet in the real world I'd like it if you'd teach me some of the water techniques you know. I've never been formally trained but you seem significantly more skilled than I"
She looked at him empathetically as he seemed to be dealing with some sort of internal struggle.

Den's desperate gambit hadn't paid off, as he continued to expel the chakra within him outwards as a blast of water he realized that he hadn't managed to get rid of any of the natural energy building up within him. His skin felt like it was on fire as he found himself unable to contain the power growing inside him. The off-white parts of his body started to turn grey as another black mark began to form on his face. His ability to reason slipped away as the rage that he had struggled with as a child, that he thought he had conquered long ago now, swelled up from some deep place within him and overwhelmed him.
As Denkiteki finished activating the technique and the column of water he was standing upon began to descend back down to the rooftop he couldn't help but shake in anticipation. He was finding it easy to formulate plans to deal with these monsters now. The chuckle that had escaped him during his last melee with the nightmares returned but quickly grew into a loud, hysterical laugh. These monsters would be no issue now that he was somewhat enhanced.
The currently deranged fool began to weave some hand seals as his feet made contact with the top of the roof, water still spilling off the edges from his idiotic attempt to stop the transformation from happening. His hands formed the boar, tiger, and then snake seals quickly, the former Tenkage moving nearly three times faster than before. As he finished the hand seals his chakra would seep out from around his body, the normally off-white color of it having shifted to black with green highlights due to the transformation. The dark energy would slowly expand from him, invisible to the naked eye but detectable by chakra vision or sensory.
As the technique activated the maniac would grab both of his swords, his katana with his left and his wakizashi in a reverse grip with his right. As he began to run directly forward, toward the back of the building, he would draw both blades and flip the smaller sword's grip, holding it correctly as he made his way towards the edge. Another swarm of monsters was beginning to climb over the edge of the roof as Den was approaching it, but this simply drew a smile to his face. He quickly cut a swathe through the slow lumbering beasts and made his way over the edge, laughing more as he saw the Tenkage Tower was practically covered in the monsters. Applying chakra to his feet Den began to speedily make his way down the building, cutting into each monster that he saw along the way. He began to hoot and holler as he outmaneuvered and cut down each monster, always going for the closest one he could see and brutally cutting it down with one or both swords as he gleefully defeated each one.
Halfway down the building, he saw a larger beast. He pondered if this might be the one he should use his debuff technique on. As he got close to the monster he realized it wouldn't be much of a threat. It was bigger and perhaps stronger, but it was just as slow as the rest. Racing towards it Den merely had to alter his course down the tower to dodge one of its lumbering limbs as it attempted to smash him against the building. As the giant's hand smashed into the building Den would stop descending and begin to rush towards the hand, cutting off one of its fingers with his katana as the monster lifted its limb up and away from the raging buffoon. As it moved away Den made a couple of wild swings at the limb before snarling and taking off down towards the legs of the beast. This proved to be a mistake, as the monster grabbed the side of the building with its damaged hand and attempted to smash its belly against the Tenkage tower. Noticing the descending mass of the beast Den would hiss and divert his path once again, moving to the side of the monster and out from under it before he got crushed. Before it raised itself back up however Den would slice into it with both of his swords, causing the beast to cry out as his blades dug deeply into its strange flesh.
Not wanting to give the monster time to recover Den made his way down towards his leg, smirking as he looked at how thin and weak it was. He went for a horizontal cut at the ankle, slicing the foot of the beast clean off and sending it tumbling toward the ground below as he speedily made his way around the large monster.
Den's focus shifted as he detected the sound of more of the monsters approaching, causing him to spin around and look at some of the smaller monsters as they charged toward him. Suddenly ignoring the larger beast Den charged the smaller ones, his blades quickly cutting off their outraching arms as they attempted to strike him. He then plunged one blade into the head of one beast, climbing up its body mass and then stabbing down onto another from the new vantage point. In his recklessness, Den nearly could have gone plummeting to his death but fortunately, his second strike didn't kill the creature he stabbed. He was able to kick into the monster, knocking its upper body back and propelling Den back towards the side of the building. He did a quick flip, landing on his feet as he hit the building and applying chakra to the surface once more.
Charging forward once more Den cut down the injured creature and then quickly dodged to the side of an attack that came from behind, his chakra sensory allowing him to detect the large hand of the giant as it moved in to crush him. Den laughed once more as he turned to face the injured large beast, his attention drawn back to it. It barely clung to the building now that it was missing a foot, struggling to attack him with one limb while clinging to the building with the others. Still enhanced by the natural energy that was now coursing through his veins Den moved quickly towards the monster, dodging past an outstretched hand and slashing at it with his sword as he made his way towards its other foot. His current speed was too much for the weak beast, Den quickly found himself next to the leg before the beast managed to bring its arm back down. Den brought down both swords onto the ankle of the beast and cleaved through it, cutting off its other leg and causing it to fall as it desperately held onto the building with a single arm.
The beast fell in an arc, moving like a pendulum as it clung to the building with its one thin arm. Fortunately, the beast wasn't strong, and as it reached the bottom of the arc of its swing it found itself unable to hang on. The beast released its hold on the building and flew off to the side of the building before gravity got a hold of it and it began to plummet towards the ground below. A number of the smaller nightmares had gotten caught up in the monster's swing and fell as well, being knocked off of the building as Den continued to chuckle at the beasts.
Den didn't pause to witness the results of his handy work however, quickly finding a new monster to destroy and rushing towards it with his enhanced speed. It was so slow that it had no hope of touching Den as he maneuvered around its lumbering limbs, stabbing it in the side with his wakizashi before cleaving through it with his katana. At this point Den was covered in the black ink of the beasts that seemed to simulate blood, his Tengakure uniform stained through and his hair sticking flat against his head. It didn't bother him like it normally would, in fact, he barely noticed it as he quickly scanned the tower for another monster to attack. He began to run around the tower attacking weak, small beasts. His descent was halted as he continued to find more and more monsters to attack, stuck at a point roughly halfway down the tower.
Den remained on the tower until he killed all of the monsters upon it, after that he noticed that the rest of the ruined village was swarmed with the strange beasts. He barely noticed that the dream had finally stopped shifting and was remaining in its ruined state as he made his way quickly to the bottom of the tower, landing on the ground and quickly rushing through the streets. The madman dashed towards each monster he could find and cut it down, finding none of them so far to be worth using his debuffing ability on. Den had to admit that he was enjoying destroying a horde of weak enemies. As much as testing one's ability against strong foes was important there wasn't anything quite like dominating a sea of enemies.
Den's blades continued to cleave through the monsters as he dashed through the street leading from the tower toward the gate of the village, zigzagging between foes as he detected them. Most beasts fell in a single slash but occasionally Den's wild strikes would miss or not cut deep enough, causing him to have to dodge a blow and go for another strike to finish the monster off.
As Den slayed the monsters a bit of movement caught his eye. Turning to see what was in his peripheral he noticed a man standing atop one of the smaller buildings within the village, a 2 story one that had been tucked between two skyscrapers. The berserker turned to the man and looked upon his face, the reflection of himself looking down at him with fear and disgust. This version of Den didn't possess the strange skin color or markings that the real one possessed but instead looked like a simple man dressed in fisherman's clothing. Scowling up at the seemingly untainted version of himself Den scowled, rushing up towards the building and the normal-looking version of himself. The normal man cursed and turned to run, but unfortunately, he was quickly brought within the range of the technique Den had activated earlier. The minus field would afflict the normal man's body, making him slow and weak as the monstrous version of him descended upon the weak man and began to cut at him with his two swords.
Den wished that he could have lived a normal life, and been a normal person. But he was too far gone for that, this powerful rage that was afflicting him was just another piece of proof that he needed to know he could never have the type of life non-shinobi lived. As he brutally murdered the ideal version of himself Denkiteki's laugh built back up to loud and hysterical, mocking himself for wishing that the world could be so simple that he could have lived without ever having been turned into a monster, without ever having to learn how to fight. Den didn't remain next to the body of his ideal self long however, the rage within him sought out new victims to destroy. The former Tenkage would get up and quickly jump off of the remains of the small building the man had been on and towards another collection of monsters that were making their way toward him. The hysterical laugh kept going as he charged towards the beasts, his swords held out to either side as he dashed towards them, The monsters howled back at him, seeming to take his laugh as some sort of growl or challenge that they had to respond to.
Den didn't spend long pondering the thought processes of the monsters however, his focus shifted back to how to best cut them to pieces as he drew near them. He ducked another thing arm that tried to grab him and cut it off, jumping into the air and slicing the head off of the beast. His trajectory carried him over two monsters that were behind it, the beasts too slow to capitalize on Den's vulnerable state in the air as he soared above them. Landing behind them Den quickly turned and cut through a leg of each of the beasts, sending them toppling over into each other. As they creamed and scrambled to right themselves Den rushed toward them and stabbed them in the head, aiming one blade for each monster.
Pulling the blades from the monsters Den looked up towards the sky and howled, the natural energy within him continuing to drive him wild. As he finished his mad yell he continued down the street, fighting and slaughtering everything he could find.
The monsters kept pouring in from all sides, charging toward Den as though they wanted to be slaughtered by the madman. He didn't mind their suicidal; tendencies however, indulging himself and his blade as he went to meet each beast that came to attack him.
Den's clothes and blade were drenched in the black ink of the monsters by this point, from a distance the front of his body might appear to be a black silhouette. The back of his outfit was barely wet however, it was only the front of him and a bit of the sides that were soaked.
As Den continued to fight against the nightmares that swarmed around him he failed to notice the world changing outside of the kill zone he was currently inhabiting. While he was still stuck within the nightmare aspect of the dream the ruined appearance of the village was starting to fade in other places, retaking its pristine form as the dream began to take shape in that area. Throughout the village a battle was starting to grow in size, as nightmares and dreams started to attack each other.
Fortunately, the dream stayed away from Den, perhaps knowing that he wasn't something they could fight alongside. Instead, the berserker was left to fight nightmares alone, the dreams occasionally funneling the nightmares towards him so that they could make sure he stayed occupied and didn't roam toward any of the dreams.
The street soon became piled with the strange masses of the nightmares, their black ink spreading throughout it as Den cut more and more of them down. Den found himself moving closer and closer to the village gates as he fought, trying not to end up waist-deep in the bodies of his foes or trying to walk atop their strange bodies for fear he'd make a misstep. His arms and back were starting to grow tired from cutting through all of the beasts but he felt he could keep going, the natural energy in his body keeping his limbs moving at high speed despite their protests.
As Den got near the gate something started to feel off. His chakra sensory started to detect something powerful nearby, but he couldn't seem to see whatever it was. And the presence was all around him, his chakra sensory flaring up as if every bit of space around Den was occupied by some dark, powerful creature. Den continued to kill the weak creatures around him but he was half distracted now, constantly spinning to make sure he wasn't about to be struck from behind.
Den jumped toward a monster and plunged both swords into its chest, knocking it to the ground he looked around and realized that for the moment he couldn't see any more enemies. His breathing started to get deeper as his heart continued to race, not at all relaxed or relieved by the sudden moment of what should have been a respite. He needed to find something to destroy, if he didn't see another moving thing he felt that he was going to start cutting up the dead monsters around him. Howling once more Den fell to his knees, mad with a lust for battle that needed to be sated. As he let out this final howl he felt the ground stir beneath him, the black ink that had soaked the entire street suddenly coming alive and flowing towards the gate of the village. Confused, the mad shinobi got to his feet and looked towards the gate, watching as the black ink began to coalesce. Noticing that the ink was starting to form a gigantic humanoid shape Den decided that was good enough for him and began charging towards the forming figure. He had no clue if his sword would even affect the being made of black ink but at this point, Den just wanted to try and stab something. The large humanoid shape was beginning to glow red near the torso and eyes as he reached its feet, but Den didn't care that the giant monster seemed to radiate power. normally he would be wary about this sort of creature but instead, he raised his blades and began to slash at the creature's feet as he ran by it, trying not to stay still to make sure the strange being didn't step on him and crush him. Den wasn't quite sure how tall the monster was, it wasn't the size any of the skyscrapers had been but it was certainly titanic compared to the former Tenkage.
Fortunately, the monster seemed to be quite slow, and as it moved Den's manic mind got the impression that he was fighting a beast that was already wounded. Little did the former Tenkage know that this powerful entity had been fighting and getting defeated in multiple other locations throughout the Land of Nightmares and the Sea of Dreams, and he was only fighting a fragment of what remained of its power.
Den's blades sliced into the monster's feet as he dodged around its feet, but it seemed that the monster's legs just healed after every strike. He grew more and more frustrated as he found himself at a stalemate with the giant monster, it was unable to touch him and him unable to leave a lasting wound. Yelling out to the monster, Den would throw his Wakizashi up towards its torso, embedding the small sword into the beast's belly. The sword simply stuck there, not seeming to phase the weakened Avatar much. Growling in anger Den tightened his grip on his katana and began to run towards one of the feet of the monster. The Avatar reached down to grab Den with its hands but it was too slow, and the former Tenkager jumped towards the leg of the creature. He focused the chakra into his feet once more as he shifted himself and collided with the beast's leg feet first, his chakra latching onto the beast's calf and allowing him to stick to it. He then began to run up the leg of the monster, making his way towards the torso of the beast. He jumped from its thigh to its belly, grabbing his Wakizashi as he made his way farther up the monster towards its head.
Moving quickly, Den managed to make it to the top of the beast without incident. Assuming this beast just had to be weak too, Den began to gleefully stab at the beast's head once he reached it. This time as his sword struck the beast he felt something a bit more solid, and the wounds didn't seem to disappear as quickly after Den removed his blade. Resolving himself Den began to stab the beast's skull as quickly as possible, trying to damage it enough to kill the beats in hopes that its regeneration abilities weren't all that different from the ones he had encountered before.
Eventually, the beast would fall over after he stabbed its skull for quite some time. Den wasn't entirely sure why the beast hadn't tried to stop him as he had continuously struck it but he just assumed he had perhaps stunned it when he first stabbed it in the brain. The former Tenkage would remain atop the beast's face as it fell backward, bracing his legs slightly as the monster's body slammed into the ground.
As Den stood atop the dead beast he began to shake once more, his rage and bloodlust still unsated as he searched around for something to kill. With the nightmares gone Den was left with choices he would normally not consider, the seemingly friendly dreams and the woman he had met near the start of all of this. Whichever came into his view first would be his next target, the former Tenkage focusing in on them and beginning to rush in their direction. Just before Den struck however he would be jolted back into the waking world, the entire crazy dream starting to fade as the former Tenkage began to wake up.

Re: The Man of Your Dreams [Event-Halloween] (IO)
Mon Dec 11, 2023 8:37 pm
She hoped that the wave that the man expelled would have eliminated all the swarming monsters, however much to her dismay she was wrong. It did rid the tower of many of them, however as she looked down at the streets she could still see them being overrun by the continuing horde. From the top of the roof she could see some larger versions of the creatures bumbling through the roadways, causing some of the crumbling ruins to completely collapse. The creatures soon began to pour back onto the tower, but thankfully due to their lack of speed, it didn't seem as big of an immediate threat.
As she held onto the man she could feel his energy changing, his body began shaking and his movement was more erratic than ever before. Seemingly without a plan or an ounce of hesitation, he took off toward the bottom of the tower. He seemed maniacal, chasing after anything he seemingly laid eyes on and then taking pleasure in their swift execution. It was difficult to maintain her grip on him as he quickly dispatched the creatures around him.
This is kind of exhilarating, he seems like he's gone crazy.
Quickly it became very clear that she needed to get away from him. He was moving at a speed she thought to be unobtainable, very easily slicing through the creatures. If she became his target there's no way she'd be able to run from him, let alone fight him. Thankfully he was fighting everything in his way, sweeping through the remaining creatures as they rushed for him. She waited for the opportune moment when she could see a pathway through the few creatures and decided to make a break for it. Pooling in chakra at her feet she activated her Surface Walking ability and used it to cling to the side of the building.
She let go of him as he rushed toward another opponent completely enraptured by, then dashed away from him. Unfortunately her exit was quickly closing as some of the creatures saw her attempt to escape. Pulling out her tanto she continued on her path, determined to get away and soon. As one jumped at her, she quickly sidestepped and used the momentum from the creature to slice a deep wound on the side of the creature. Another rushed to her side and attempted to grab her, instead, the being grabbed a corner of her skirt. In a flash from her tanto, she severed the creature's hand from its thin arm and stabbed it in its round head.
While combating the two others one had managed to rush up behind her, this one a rather tall, looming creature, and began lifting her off the ground by her left arm. She swang out recklessly at the creature but found no purchase it was just out of her reach. The creature then opened its horrifyingly toothy mouth and dropped Junko inside of it. Seeming content the creature took a few steps closer to the building but then came to an immediate stop. Peaking out from the underbelly of the creature was the tip of Junko's tanto.
As she felt the sting of stomach acid beginning to attempt to dissolve her she started attempting to carve her way out of the creature. Slowly her blade carved a long slit in the underbelly of the creature and she flopped out of it along with its innards. Standing up she attempted to flick off as much stomach acid as possible and felt a bit saddened as she saw small rips and tears forming on her clothes.
With sort of a path now made, she rushed off farther into the ruins. Using the rooftops to stay above the remaining creatures plaguing the ruined walkways. Not knowing where to go, she at full speed rushed through the streets looking for a place to hide. Unfortunately, some of the swarm was still meandering through the streets and would occasionally attempt to attack her. Now solely relying on her tanto for defense, she held it at the ready for any oncoming attacks.
As she rounded a corner she found two more of the bulbous creatures meandering towards her. As they noticed her they began rushing forward aggressively. Holding on tightly to her tanto with her right hand she prepared for an attack. They were decently slow and predictable in their movements so she was able to quickly dispatch them by slicing off some of their legs.
Feeling a bit more confident Junko continued rushing through the streets looking for some sort of potential safe haven. As she entered into a large courtyard area she noticed a handful of long abandoned shops. Choosing one to explore she found herself in a ruined shoe store.
There's got to be some kind of backroom I could hide out in until I wake up. Hopefully, I'll be safe here.."
As she scouted through some of the backrooms she felt a hand grab her by the back of her head as her body was forced to stop moving. Before she could turn her head to look at the assailant, she felt a heavy blow smack into the side of her head. The pain washed over her as a throbbing area on her cheek seemed to bet in tandem with her heart. Her head was then wrenched toward the person, making them come face to face. In horror, she gazed back at her own face wielding an activated Ketsuryugan and a wicked smile.
She didn't even have time to respond before the dream kicked her hard in the stomach, launching her through some crumbling wall and into the center of the courtyard. Thankfully due to her decent speed, she was able to adjust herself in the air and land on her feet. She watched as the dream stepped through the hole she caused, now forming the mouth technique and shooting it right at Junko. I looked as if it was aimed low, probably in an attepmt to pin her foot to the ground so Junko was able to quickly dodge out of the way. A bit of the water from the explosion caused by the technique got splashed on her dress but was ineffective regardless.
The more she looked at the pretend her the longer she got an uncanny valley sense. She looked like the ideal version of herself, with more muscle and seemingly less speed than her true self though.
Soon the fake Junko spoke
"Don't even try to fight back, it'll be easier if you just accept that you're incomparable to me. I'm exactly what Dad wanted us to be, but now you're simply the failure that Mother wanted us to be. If you put an ounce of training in, you could achieve anything, but instead, you hide away in moon afraid of what the world would do to you"
Standing now firmly with her tanto in front of her, preparing for another attack, the real Junko braced herself as a bit of blood spilled from her head. Before she could respond the Dream Junko began forming the tiger, boar, and snake handseals then upon completion began spitting out water shurikens at her. The real Junko took off farther into what looked to be an open market within the large courtyard, attempting to use stands, carts, pillars, and various other debris that splattered the walkways as potential cover. Behind her, as she ducked and dodged through the abandoned market she could hear the thudding sounds of shuriken as they just barely missed her.
The real Junko slid underneath a nearly intact stall in an attempt to catch her breath. As she sat she could hear the clicking of heels as the fake Junko followed her path, as she approached she spoke.
"Shouldn't you be helping that thing that just saved you? You're fleeing from me, and him just like you do with everything else. Soon you'll flee from the life you're building here in moon too. Akira and Emi aren't too long for this world, and I don't believe you are either!
Junko could hear the fake her getting closer so she dashed out from cover towards the fake one. As she went to Stike she noticed that the fake Junko had also pulled her tanto from its sheath and used it to block the Stike the real one had attempted. While caught in this stance the real Junko spoke in a harsh tone and continued to apply pressure to her blade.
"If we had it your way we'd have nobody at all! That guy is over there slicing through those creatures like a hot knife through butter, he very obviously doesn't need our assistance. As for Akira and Emi, they've helped us so much.. and we both know how we hate being alone.
The real Junko jumped back and stood, staring at a corrupted version of herself. She almost felt bad for his Junko, and this was her supposedly dream self? In what seemed to be a fit of anger the fake Junko threw what remaining water shurikens she had towards her. Jumping out of the way Junko took cover behind another stall and waited until she heard a response.
"We're too weak to rely on others for comfort, safety, and reassurance. What has gotten us to where we are now is reliance on ourselves and our own strengths. It's time for us to move past these people and keep living out our lives."
After she finished speaking, fake Junko began quickly dashing towards the real one. She slashed out angrily towards the real one, but thankfully the real Junko was able to keep up and block the incoming blows. As they exchanged blows they jumped around the market, almost like a more deadly version of tag. Their clash came to a halt as each stood on opposites of a decayed rooftop.
"Listen, if we just worked together more often I think it'd balance out. We can still have people in our lives but still be free to do as we please. Doesn't being here with these people make us happy, nobody is forcing us to be in this position.
As the real Junko spoke, the fake halted her advances seeming to think momentarily about what was said. The demeanor of the dream Junko changed significantly. She sheathed her tanto, sighed, and turned away from the real one. She then plopped down on the ledge of the roof, and patted beside her, inviting the real one to sit beside her.
For a few minutes they sat in silent contemplation, but soon the real one broke the silence. She began talking about the fun they've had since coming to moon, and what others would await them in the waking world if they could just seem to work together. After a few heartfelt exchanges the both of them stood up, linked hands, and looked towards the city gates where she could hear the man and his ongoing onslaught.
Soon they began making their way towards the sounds of fighting in the distance, trying to stay from his line of sight. Before reaching him however, they came upon what looked to be a rather large, glowing children's doll that seemed itself to be beating back some of the creatures she had faced. Both Junkos assisted the doll in dispatching about a dozen of the creatures using their tantos. After the fight had concluded, the doll spoke to them, informing them about an evil entity that would soon be presenting itself in an attempt to break out into the waking world.
The doll then told them that there were other good beings out in the ruins and that if the Junkos could assist them, they could potentially help hold off the horde but currently the doll and a few other dreams were funneling them to the man she was with previously. After all, he seemed like he was doing a fantastic job holding them off, and was even enjoying slaying them. For a few moments, the doll and the two Junkos talked amongst each other, discussing what the next course of action should be.
While they talked Junko watched as a humanoid figure appeared from the ground up, to say it was huge is an understatement. The entity had glowing red markings on its chest, long tentacles coming from its back, and seemed to be made of shadows. The real Junko felt a bit guilty about leaving the man who helped her out just a few minutes prior and wanted to aid him in taking out whatever entity this was. She instructed the fake Junko and the doll to help keep the creatures off of the man so he could focus on the big guy. In agreement all of them went their different ways, as soon as Junko was running she could see little lights similar to the light that shone from the doll.
Dreams both big and small began appearing in various roadways and allyes to help stop the horde from breaking through to the main gate area where the entity had appeared. As she ran she made sure to stay away from the man, and out of his line of sight. Soon she'd come across bodies of the slain creatures left in his wake and saw him beginning his approach toward the entity. She quickly began running up the side of a nearby skyscraper, and she then started formulating a plan.
She really only had one move left, and she needed to be pretty close to the entity for it to work so she intended to close the distance. As she ran and jumped from different crumbling pieces of a once beautiful skyscraper she began yelling up to the entity. It wasn't quite as tall as the skyscraper but was still rather large. She now began calling it a slew of different names, curse words, and various profanities. As it turned its attention to her she hastily did the doing the snake, dragon, rat, and dog hand seals, doing the Flower Garden technique that her father taught her some years ago.
The technique went into effect as the entity stared neutrally down at her, and from beneath her however the skyscraper she was standing on became decorated with a beautiful flower bed. Now standing in awe at the flowers, the entity's body froze into a state of paralysis, leaving it open to attacks. The manic man below them must have thought the same, as she saw him racing up the body of the creature. Not wanting to be in his line of sight, she used her fist to break open a window on the skyscraper and hopped into what looked to be some sort of office.
She quickly found the way to the emergency exit stairs and rushed down to the main floor. Walking out she looked up to see the man ruthlessly attacking the entity's face, lashing out with both weapons ferverously. Soon she watched as the entity began pummeling to the ground, she took cover behind some rubble nearby and watched as the man rose victorious from the entity's body. He seemed to be still in a manic state, but she thought that he might snap out of it since the fight was basically over.
Walking out from behind her cover she called out to the crazed man excitedly
"We did it!! Well, mostly you, but I kinda helped!! Are you alright?"
Shivers ran down her spine as the man's gaze shot toward her, she realized that she may have in fact made an error. Soon the man's hand sprang forward, attempting to reach out for her. However before he managed to reach her she awoke, covered in sweat alone in her bed. Her body felt exhausted, and her head throbbed achingly with a migraine near where the other Junko had assaulted her. Standing from the bed and looking out the window she could see the sun beginning to rise.
What a horrific but curious dream, I should check out the ruins sometime, there might be something worth checking out if I can find the time. For today though, I shall rest.

Re: The Man of Your Dreams [Event-Halloween] (IO)

Denkiteki wrote:Den's desperate gambit hadn't paid off, as he continued to expel the chakra within him outwards as a blast of water he realized that he hadn't managed to get rid of any of the natural energy building up within him.
