A time for reflection, and drinking
Mon Jun 10, 2024 2:01 pm
Kagu's day of training and meditation has ended, and he has taken it upon himself to loosen up and better integrate into village society. He walks over to Darkside, a well-known bar and restaurant with a good vibe and great food. It is a neutral ground for villagers and ninjas to partook in a drink, share stories, and laugh.
Kagu steps into Darkside, and the modest background noise of chatter, clinks of glasses, and intermittent laughter welcomes him back. The bar area feels cozy in warm lighting between old authentic wood and a gothic-like feel, immediately making you feel at ease and ready to relax. Kagu slips into the bar, where he can sit back, soak up the action before him, and have some peace.
Kagu orders something light to drink as he recalls his day and the decisions he faces about becoming Chuunin. The bartender recognizes him as one of the regulars, an Uchiha. He talks with him softly, giving him common ground, and keeps him company, giving him all the friendly nonsense you could expect from a regular.
Kagu sips his drink and observes the interactions around him. The bar is a little melting pot of the village; everyone, regardless of their background or role within the town, is all together. In contrast, the divisions of clans and ranks nearly seem irrelevant to enjoying the evening.
It is a reminder of the time before his recruitment: a life of normality that Kagu misses amidst the isolation of training and the demands of his duties. To him, a night at Darkside is not only a time to chill; it is an opportunity to learn about things happening within the village—insights that could prove priceless for one who is almost sure to soon take a possibly more prominent leadership role in the local community.
Throughout the night, Kagu talks to several of the villagers, telling stories and listening in prosaic conversation. These interactions further color his knowledge of the village's needs and the many avatars that form it. Every tale, from the mundane to the extraordinary, gives new dimensions to his perspective of the village where he is guardian.
He's drinking too lightly to sedate his mind, but enough that it seems to loosen his thoughts, enabling him to entertain ideas about the role that before would have filled him with dread. The informal nature helps humanize the usually more rigid village and clan politics. He reminds himself of the community in his potential future role as Chuunin.
