Remembering a Friendship (Flashback)(P)(NK)

Seth was heading to Konoha for the chunnin exams but on his way he would stop and talk to the one person who still brought joy to him. Her silvery eyes, cute kimono's and her smile. He knew he could die in the exam so this could be his last chance to see her. He continued on the suns heat was baking the earth feeling as tho the world was being placed in gods oven. He was 100 yards from the gate to Konohagakure the towering gate was there waiting to allow chunnin exam members in he continued forward hoping that Akina was waiting. He was now 20 yards from the gate and still closing in.

Akina was drawn to the village gate that day for some reason. She looked out to the path that served as the entrance and the exit to her beloved home. There was a figure coming closer to the gates that seemed very familiar. Her red kimono was heavier in the dreaded heat. She thought she saw Seth coming closer to her. "It has been some time, hasn't it, Seth-san?" She remembered her nakama well, but they had not seen each other for a while. That day, though, seemed to be different.

Navi was always either in the training field, or leaving the village for a mission. While passing through the gates he saw Akina, whom he hadn't seen for some time. "Akina!" he began to call out. He stopped for a moment when he saw someone. Another ninja walking towards their gates. For a moment Navi almost drew a kunai knife, but then he remembered that the Chuunin exams were starting soon. This ninja was probably from another village and was coming to participate in the exams. How does this guy know Akina, I've been with her since she first left the village?. Navi decided to watch and find out, walking towards Akina and standing at the village gate.

Seth saw her and he knew he was luck and able to see her one more time. He continued toward her speaking "It has been a while. I see your a genin thats great." his eye's were sentimental looking at her. He heard another person speak and ignored him while waiting for this new ninja to come over to where he was now standing. Seth keep looking at Akina seeing that she had changed a little since last they met he continued to look even more sentimental. His snake like eyes locked with hers, he still had other sense's locked upon the new ninja.

Akina smiled and waved as Navi called out. "Hello, Navi! How are you today?" Her voice seemed monotone that day. She had a strange feeling rise up within her when she saw Seth. It was something that hurt, and something that had made her angry. She kept her face smooth, even though it was hard. Her eyes had flicked to Navi somewhat nervously, but when they caught the sentimental look in his eyes, the feeling inside of her began to shift to that of an easier time. "Yep, I'm a Genin." Her voice was somewhat cold, but her smile was warm.

"What is it that brings you here, Seth?" Her voice was curious like it used to be.

Navi was shocked to see that Akina even knew an outsider, let alone someone an entire village away. Navi himself hated outsiders, always loyal to Konoha and all of his comrades hidden in the leaves. Navi always felt very at ease around Akina, bringing him back to a simpler time, even before he made Genin. The presence of outsiders made Navi very tense though, nearly every outsider Navi met he had killed or hospitalized. Akina would most likely recognize his hostile attitude towards Seth before he even spoke a word.

"What is it that brings you here, Seth?" Her voice was curious like it used to be. Navi repeated the question "Yeah, what is it that brings you here," although in a much more hostile tone. Navi hadn't drawn a weapon yet but his hands were clenched tightly into fists.

Seth was looking at Akina as the wind whirled through making Seth's long brown hair move, He answered in a lazy voice "Chunnin exams I am participating in them this time." He saw in the corner of his eyes the clenched fist of this other leaf ninja, a smile went across Seth's face as he spoke directly to this ninja without looking at him "Do not worry I have nothing against the leaf village I wont bother your village I will finish my exam and leave if it shall make you happy." He was looking at Akina "So how have you been?"

Akina smiled slightly, until she noticed Navi. "Navi...it's really ok..." Her voice was wary, though. This was something new she had learned about her long time friend. "I see you've wasted no time on pushing yourself, Seth. I've been fine, completing missions to become a Chunin, since exams aren't my strong suit."

A warm laugh filled the air, though things between her and Seth seemed to have grown distant as of late.

"Navi...it's really ok..." Her voice was wary, though. Navi backed off slightly, but noticed the tone in her voice. His gut still had a bad feeling about Seth. If he was taking the Chuunin exams, then why wasn't he with a standard squad? Loners were a rarer sight to see if they were taking the Chuunin exams, it would be much more likely that he was a rogue ninja, or a spy. This could just be Navi's paranoid gut talking, but nevertheless he kept his fists clenched tightly. Navi noticed that the two of them seemed to have grown apart from whenever it was they knew eachother. They seemed distant and awkward now, which still surprised Navi as to when Akina met him.

"Finish the exam and leave, alright good," Navi said, the hostility never leaving his voice. Navi could read the ninja's power level by the way he moved and walked. He seemed strong for a Genin, but Akina might be able to defeat him. If Seth was a rogue though, Navi could kill him in the blink of an eye. He almost wished Seth would attack him, just so Navi could beat him.

This guy probably won't even beat the other leaf shinobi taking the Chuunin exams, I shouldn't worry. Navi remained vigilant though, an outsider was in his village and if any harm came to his comrades, Akina included, he would not hesitate to destroy the opponent.

Seth was sure that she had began to grow and that they both had grown slightly apart. He looked at her and a deeper feeling began to show, he was worried he might lose Akina he spoke "Akina.... I.... I was wondering if you might wanna have lunch sometime? I know we have grown apart and I would like to grow back to the way we were before. Because I am still holding on to my promise to protect you with my life." He was now staring hard into her silvery eyes with his golden snake eyes. He was prepared to hear any answer.
