A Contract In Blood

It was early morning and the stars were still nestled in the sky. Despite the early hour Taro was wide awake. He had recently acquired a scroll from a traveling salesmen. Supposedly the scroll itself was a rare summoning contract with the Raven summoning branch. The scroll was pitch black with crimson tear drops scattered all over it. The scroll now lay open in front of Taro. He knew that to make the contract he had to sign his name in blood. He bit down on his right thumb until the salty taste of blood filled his mouth. He then wrote out his name on the scroll. Nothing really happened once he had finished, which for him was rather disappointing. Allowing the blood to dry Taro lay back on his makeshift bedspread. He was about ready to be on his way out of this god forsaken desert: Taro planned to leave after finishing up his business here and wander onto his next destination. As he drifted off to sleep his old home, the leaf village, was on his mind.
