A Few missions
Mission
Name: Patrol
Rank: D
Type: Scouting
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 300
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 450 ryo
Task: Scout around the village to make sure the
area is secure. If anyone who doesn't seem to be an ally is seen, report it to
higher ranking shinobi.
Denkiteki had patrol duty today. He would have rather gone training, but he needed the money. Now that hew as twelve his dad wouldn’t give him any equipment, and he had to buy his own. So that meant doing even more missions, and not being able to train as much.
Luckily this mission was really easy, and had a decent pay out. Maybe he would be able to buy a few weapons after he finished. So wearing his usual attire of a dark shirt and long fitting pants of the same color Denkiteki left the village to go on patrol. It was rather misty that day, but Denkiteki had grown up in the village and was used to it.
Denkiteki was charged with patrolling along a road that often received heavy traffic, at least when compared to the other roads in the village hidden in the mist. He just had to travel along it and make sure no one was up to no good, and then after a few hours he could go back to the village and get paid.
Traveling along the road, Denkiteki watched as travelers slowly made their way from one small town to another. Denkiteki was glad he wasn’t among them, and never would be. He was a shinobi, sure he was a low ranking one but that would change. One day he would become great and powerful, while those poor people down there had to keep traveling and selling their goods, without many interesting moments in their lives.
Denkiteki patrolled for a few hours, but didn’t find anything to unusual. He ran into some other shinobi, but they quickly identified themselves as Kiri ninja. He knew one of them as a friend from his academy days, so he didn’t question them further. Other than that the mission was uneventful, and Denkiteki returned to the village to collect his reward, and perhaps another mission.

Mission Name: Thief in the village.
Rank: D
Type: Capture
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 300 words
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 400 ryo.
Task: Multiple villagers have reported their
belongings stolen. Multiple villagers had reported being a target of a thief,
mostly at the same time. Your job is to find the thief or thieves and capture
them.
Another mission, that was good. Denkiteki had just gotten back from patrol duty when the new mission had come in, and he had accepted it as soon as he finished his report. This mission didn’t pay as much as the last one, but it seemed a lot more interesting. There was a thief, or maybe even a couple of thieves, that were stupid enough to try to steal things in a shinobi village.
Victims and witnesses believed the thief to be a non-shinobi. Many times the victims were able to fight of the thief when he attempted to rob them with a knife. However some victims that attempted to fight him off had ended worse off then if they had done nothing. There was at least one confirmed sighting of the thief killing someone with a knife after they tried to fight him off.
Unfortunately for Denkiteki, he didn’t have a weapon to fight the thief with if it ended in a fight. But he made sure to neglect that information when he took the mission. He figured if this guy wasn’t a shinobi, he would be able to take him rather easily.
It wasn’t that hard to find the thief, it hadn’t even been two hours before Denkiteki spotted a man that fitted the description of the thief. Tall, light skinned, brown haired and slightly muscular. Of course, these characteristics weren’t enough for Denkiteki to follow him, but the bandanna around his neck that matched the description of the one the thief wore over his face, and the knife that he concealed terribly made him think it was a good idea to follow him.
Denkiteki made sure the man didn’t know he was following, keeping to the roof tops and making sure he was hidden whenever the man looked up. He wanted to catch the man in the act, so that there wouldn’t be a doubt that he was the thief, if he was the thief of course.
As it turned out Denkiteki was right, the man followed another who tried to cut through an alleyway as a short cut. Denkiteki watched as the man pulled the bandanna over his face and removed the knife from its hidden place. He then began to move at a quicker pace towards the man.
Moving quickly Denkiteki made his way into the alleyway, using his chakra to stick to the walls as he approached. When the man looked back to see if someone was coming, he saw nothing. A large grin appeared on Denkiteki’s face, got you.
The man was only a few meters away from his target, who still didn’t seem to notice him, when Denkiteki pounced. Falling onto the man from above Denkiteki spun to gain momentum and kicked the man on the top of his head with his left foot. The resulting sound was loud enough to make the almost victim spin around, a look of terror in his eyes soon replaced by shock. Before the man could thank him or say anything, Denkiteki picked up the target and began to walk out of the alleyway, going to turn him in and gain his reward.

Mission Name: Missing Pets
Rank: D
Type: Capture
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 500
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 450 ryo
Task: A few cats belonging to an old lady have ran
away, she requested help on getting them back. Your job is to find the five
missing cats and bring them home.
After turning the thief over to some higher ranking shinobi Denkiteki had gone to receive yet another mission. He was starting to enjoy the work, and the missions just kept getting better and better. He wondered if he would get a C-Rank mission next. That would be awesome. Maybe he would get to fight some low rank missing nin and collect a decent sized bounty. Denkiteki smiled, he was going to show these other shinobi how great he was.
The smile was gone after he received his mission, even the normally optimistic Denkiteki couldn’t see anything good about the crappy mission he had just received. He had to find some cats, five cats to be exact. Compared to his other missions he had taken that day, this one was going to be terrible.
Denkiteki searched the village for what felt like forever, but in fact was only a few hours, before coming across to cats. He quickly identified them as two of the ones he needed to catch, and actually managed a smile. At least I will get two early on.
When Denkiteki had first joined the ranks of the Genin, he had done a mission or two involving catching animals, and he knew cats were the worst. They would claw you if caught, but actually catching them was the hard part. Denkiteki approached the two cats quietly, as silent as a snake. Before they knew it they each had a hand around them and picking them up. They tried to squirm and claw their way out but Denkiteki ignored the pain as he carried them away.
After returning those two he continued his search, this time with only 3 left. He still didn’t like the mission, and his arms kind of hurt from being scratched, but he wasn’t going to let that get to him. He was gong to be paid decent money for this mission, which was what mattered.
Denkiteki found the third one after a couple more minutes, this one proved to be quite a chase though. Denkiteki had trouble keeping up with the damn thing, which tried to go through small places he couldn’t get to, and making sharp turns to try and lose him. In the end it proved futile, and Denkiteki returned that cat to the old lady as well.
Now with only two left, Denkiteki was feeling a lot better than when he started. He had thought this mission was going to be a pain, but so far it was going well. Three in such a short time was great. Hopefully he would find the other two just as quickly.
The fourth and fifth were together when Denkiteki found them, they had found some food in a trash can and were nibbling at it together. Denkiteki managed to catch both of them quickly, but one managed to wriggle out of his grasp and took off. Holding the other in his arm tightly, he gave chase, and eventually caught it once again. He then took both of them home and went to go collect his reward for the last mission he would do that day.

Mission Name: Art Thieft
Rank: D
Type: Capture
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 500
Repeatable?
Yes
Reward: 550 ryo
Task: There have been reports that multiple people
have had their paintings stolen from their homes or shops. Find the thief and
bring him in by anymeans, while at the same time returning the stolen arts, or
what remains, safely back to the rrightful owners.
Denkiteki set out from the village early in the morning, wanting to get a head start on the day. The sun could barely be seen peaking over the horizon as the young boy made his way to the boat that would take him to the island where he would complete his mission.
An island within the jurisdiction of Kiri had recently been plagued with multiple accounts of theft, and nearly all of them relating to stolen art. Why someone would bother stealing something like that Denkiteki didn’t know, but he would make sure that the guy who did it was caught.
Denkiteki arrived on the small island after a few minutes, it wasn’t far from the one Denkiteki and the shinobi of the mist lived. The island he was currently on only had one village, so Denkiteki decided it would be easy to find the thief. For this mission he was allowed to search houses if need be, but he didn’t want to resort to that unless he had to. Some people could be a real pain if you tried to look around their house.
Denkiteki went to a small building that was the villages ‘art museum’ but it was just a small building with a bunch of paintings in it. Some of them were missing, and according to the man who ran the place they were worth a lot of money. Denkiteki could only smile as the man frantically recalled walking into the building and finding them gone, as though it was that big of a deal.
As Denkiteki left to go find the art thief, the man muttered something about how the young boy probably wasn’t the right person for the job. He was a kid and obviously didn’t care about art. Denkiteki only smirked. He would definitely have to find the thief quickly, just so he could show that idiot that he wasn’t just some stupid kid that didn’t know what he was doing.
Denkiteki looked around the building for awhile trying to find any clues. Whoever stole the paintings did a decent job. There was no obvious evidence anywhere in the building. It wasn’t until Denkiteki left the building that he found a clue. There was a wallet in the grass, which had a man’s I.D. and some money in it. While Denkiteki couldn’t be sure that this man was the thief, he had probably cause for checking the man’s house, so hopefully the man wouldn’t be to upset if he wasn’t the thief.
Denkiteki asked around and eventually found the man’s home, which was even worse off than the ‘art museum’. Denkiteki could see a man trying to steal and sell some stupid paintings if he was poor, and judging from the state of the ‘house’ in front of him, the owner was quite poor.
Denkiteki knocked on the door, but received no answer. He could hear that someone was inside though, and seemed to be grabbing a couple of objects and trying to move them in a hurry. Denkiteki kicked the door, which burst from its weak hinges and fell inward. Stepping inside Denkiteki found the man who’s wallet he found picking up a couple of paintings, the ones that were stolen.
“To easy.” Was all that Denkiteki said as a smile appeared on his face, and he grabbed the man and dragged him to the museum to return the paintings, and then to the boat so he could turn him in.

Mission Name: Helping The Academy
Rank: D
Type: Help.
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 400
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 450 ryo
Task: The teachers at the academy are looking for
some small assistance. Your job is to simply show a group of three academy
students the basics of being your rank.
Denkiteki’s mission that day was simple. He had to help 3 Academy students learn some basic jutsu. Denkiteki was known for being proficient with the Substitution technique and the transformation technique, which was why he was picked for that mission. Walking to the Academy, Denkiteki wore his usual attire, consisting of pants that were well fitted, and a dark grey shirt that was also well fitted. As always, he wore his Kiri headband as a sign that he was a shinobi of the Mist. As he entered the Academy, Denkiteki smiled as he remembered all of the lessons and friends he had while he was a student.
Not wanting to waste time, Denkiteki made his way toward the classroom that he had been assigned for the next hour so, quickly finding it. Opening the door, he saw 2 young children patiently waiting in a chair, and one kid pacing at the head of the classroom. The one pacing seemed to be a boy that wasn’t that much younger than Denkiteki, which assumed the young Genin a lot. Smirking at the boy, Denkiteki entered the room. “I am Denkiteki, your teacher has decided that you have not progressed as far as you should have at this time, and I am here to give you an extra lesson.”
The two sitting down seemed to bow their heads in shame as Denkiteki talked and while he did feel sorry for them he was glad they at least knew that this lesson was serious. The three were in danger of being held back, if they didn’t start doing well. The third however, didn’t seem to understand how grave his situation was. “I really don’t care what you have to say. Let’s just get it over with. I don’t care about this stupid training. When will I ever need to look like someone else? Or switch places with some stupid inanimate object.”
Denkiteki sighed, this kid would be annoying. He didn’t say anything though, and began to teach the kids the transformation jutsu. He showed them all the technique first, transforming into each one of them. He then had them try. It took them a couple of goes, but after awhile they all seemed to get the hang out it. The boy that had been pacing took a little bit longer, but he still managed to perform the technique well by the time they were done. His mission completed, Denkiteki waved to the kids and left to go turn in his mission.

Mission Name: Cleaning
Rank: D
Type: Chores
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 300
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 450 ryo
Task: The village has become rather dirty, with
most shinobi already on a mission the kage had requested that you help clean
some places in the village up.
Today’s mission sucked. Denkiteki had to help clean the village. Denkiteki had thought rescuing art and catching cats was stupid, but at least in those he learned something. On his mission retrieving the art, he had gotten a little better at investigating, and catching the cats had helped him learn stealth and also catching his target if they attempted to flee. What was there to learn by picking up trash? Absolutely nothing. Stepping out the building and into the village of Kirgakure, Denkiteki could only sigh. This was probably the most boring mission ever.
Denkiteki started to walk the streets, cleaning up trash. There was no way this was a D-Rank mission. This had to be an E-Rank mission, there was no danger involved. An academy student could perform this mission well enough. Denkiteki shook his head. This sort of mission was beneath him. He did D-Ranks by himself all of the time, and could probably do C and maybe even B by himself in his current state, why was he being forced to clean up trash. Today just isn’t my lucky day today.
Most of the trash was cans and wrappings of food. Denkiteki would pick them up and place them in a bag, which would fill up completely after an hour or two, forcing him to get a new one. Despite his normally positive attitude, Denkiteki couldn’t help but feel depressed as he walked along the streets, this mission really sucked.
After a few hours though, he was finally done. His usual smirk appeared on his face again, now knowing that the mission was over and he could get another one that was hopefully a lot better. Denktieki took all of the trash bags to a dumpster and threw them in, before heading back to get a new mission. If it was another crappy mission though, Denkiteki would be in a really bad mood.

Mission Name: Supply Run
Rank: D
Type: Delivery
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 400
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 500 Ryo
Task: A small group out in the forest were building
a small home for a family, they had left behind some supplies and it would take
too long if they would come back and get them.
If the last mission Denkiteki had done was the worst he had ever received, this one was the dumbest. He had to go be an errand boy for some idiots that forgot their supplies at a house they built, and were all too lazy to go get it themselves. In fact, they were even willing to pay money for someone else to get it for them, even enough for a Genin to be sent to get it. Denkiteki couldn’t help but laugh at the idiots though, despite being annoyed with the mission.
It didn’t take Denkiteki long to find the house, which seemed to be almost finished, if it wasn’t already. He didn’t pay much mind to it, and went around to the back where the idiots had kept their supplies. It seemed like they hadn’t even left that much, just some nails, a hammer, and some other random tools. Looking around, Denkiteki found a bucket, and put all of the objects inside.
“There isn’t even that much crap, definitely not worth the ryo they spent to send me here.” Denkiteki shook his head, something definitely didn’t seem right.
Denkiteki had barely finished speaking when he heard a popping noise from the inside of the bucket, and all of the sudden smoke began to spill out of it, a smoke bomb? Throwing the bucket aside, Denkiteki did a few hand signs, and next thing he new he was falling into the ground, feeling it turn to sand beneath him. Thanks dad He thought as he began to move through the ground, now able to sense what was going on above him.
He sensed to people moving around, trying to find him in the smoke. Denkiteki chuckled as he sat underground beneath them, wondering how he should go about taking care of them. After a moment of thought, he quickly moved towards one of the possible enemies, and reached his arm out of the dirt to grab his leg. The man only had a moment to register what was going on before Denkiteki pulled him into the ground, till only his head remained above ground.
The smoke began to clear shortly after that, and the man saw his ally up to his neck in the ground. He began to step away, Denkiteki could tell from his position underground that the man was trembling. Wanting to scare the man further, Denkiteki slowly moved his way above ground, seeming to rise from it. A smile played across his face, a devious smile, and the man turn and ran.
Turning toward the previous man, Denkiteki pulled him from the ground, and led him back to the village. On the way their, he found out that they had planned on kidnapping him and trying to ransom him back to the village or something for a profit. It was an even dumber idea then what Denkiteki had originally thought. As he approached the mission office with his catch, his only thought was that he still better get paid, even though the mission had been a lie.

Mission Name: Onbaa!
Rank: D
Type: Scouting
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 500
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 450 ryo
Task: There is an Onbaa baby roaming around the village. Catch it before it grabs onto someone's back! And don't let it get yours!!!!!
Denkiteki was wearing his usual attire of fitting pants and shirt, with the shirt being grey and the pants black. He still did not carry any weapons with him, but of course he still wore his headband on his forehead, proudly showing the Kiri symbol to anyone that looked at him. He had just finished putting that one idiot that had tried to kidnap him behind bars, and was ready to take another mission, hopefully one that wasn’t a trap.
Denkiteki looked at his mission briefing, rather confused, what the heck was an Onbaa? It seemed to be a creature that was ridiculously strong, as the briefing said that if it grabbed onto someone it would not let go. Beyond that, the briefing only told him that there was one in the village, and it was his job to capture it before it latched onto someone. If there was one already in the village, Denkiteki would have to move fast to find it. It seemed like this would be yet another weird mission.
Jumping from building to building, Denkiteki searched through the village, trying to find the creature. He hoped that someone would scream or freak out when they spotted it, because Denkiteki didn’t even know what he was looking for. The briefing hadn’t included a description of what the thing looked like! Denkiteki sighed, this was gonna suck. But he wasn’t going to give up. If he did, someone might get attacked by the thing and be forced to carry it around or something, and Denkiteki would fail the mission. He couldn’t let himself have a failure on his record.
Eventually, Denkiteki heard screams, and the sound of things breaking. He quickly made his way over to the sounds, hoping to be able to spot the damn thing. It turned out his worrying was for naught, the creature was running around the street, some weird thing that Denkiteki couldn’t really describe other than that it was hairy and small. It was also fast, but luckily it had yet to target anyone yet and grab on them.
Following the creature as it ran through the streets, Denkiteki tried to think of the best way to attack it. If he wasn’t careful, the thing might latch onto him and then he would be screwed, at least if the mission briefing had been accurate at all.
Deciding to just attack the thing from behind and hope for the best, Denkiteki jumped down from the building and onto the street. Unsure as to what he should do, he performed his new technique once again, Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole. He then quickly disappeared underground as the beast continued to move about the village. Luckily, before it managed to attack someone, Denkiteki emerged from the ground below the creature and pulled it under, leaving its head up like he had done against the kidnapper before. Now that the beats was subdued, he felt that he could go turn in the mission and have somebody come collect the creature. Leaving before any of the shocked villagers said anything, Denkiteki jumped on top of a building and made his way back to the kages office to turn in the mission.

Mission Name: Village Status
Rank: C
Type: Repair
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 800
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 1000
Task: The gates have been ruined, assist other shinobi and repair men in fixing the gates.
Denkiteki had finally gotten that weird creature out of the village, and was ready to take on another assignment. This time he was given a higher ranking mission, a C-Rank mission. For Denkiteki this meant a few things. One, it meant that he was being recognized as a skilled Genin, and that he could handle that sort of mission on his own. Two, It meant that he would start getting paid a lot more. Both of those things were really important to Denkiteki. He wanted to be recognized, he wanted to be considered a prodigy again like he had been when he was just a few years younger. And he wanted to be able to buy gear as well, that was really important. Currently he did missions without any sort of protection or weapons. He really needed to fix that problem fast, especially now that he was taking harder missions.
Denkiteki didn’t really appreciate the mission he was given, it wasn’t that much different from something he would have gotten as a D-Rank, though the pay was a lot better than what he was used to. 1000 Ryo, that was close to doubling the amount he had received on his mission to find the man who had stolen some stupid paintings, and that mission had been the best paying one he had ever received.
His mission was to help repair the village gates, a simple enough task, but he knew it would be tiring. He decided to go there immediately, to get the mission done as quickly as possible. As he traveled to the gate, he smiled. He couldn’t wait to get that 1000 ryo in his hands.
When he arrived, a couple other shinobi and some builders were already there. He greeted them and quickly got to work. For the most part he and the other shinobi were there to use their ability to walk up vertical surfaces to get replacement pieces to higher up parts of the bridge that the builders couldn’t get their by themselves. Denkiteki and the other Shinobi weren’t involved really in actually taking apart parts of the bridge that were broken and needed to be replaced, they were mostly there to move the parts out of the way, and carry the new parts to the builders.
It was tiring work, and Denkiteki quickly found his arms getting tired from carrying all of the pieces. Part of him wanted to take a break, but he wouldn’t let himself. It was his first C-Rank mission, he wouldn’t fail and he wouldn’t do a poor job of it. So he continued on, ignoring the pain in his arms.
A couple hours in, they took a break for dinner. Denkiteki could barely feel his arms, but he followed a couple other Genin and Chunnin that were going to go get ramen. Finding one of his friends from the academy amongst the group, he began chatting wit him as they ate their food. The other kid had taken the mission with his team, he pointed out two other Genin that were talking to each other not to far off. Their sensei had decided to take the day off, which was why he wasn’t with them.
Denkiteki’s old friend was surprised to hear that he was by himself, and that he had never been reassigned to a new team either. He asked if he had stayed in touch with his old teammates, to which Denkiteki just shrugged. They talked every once in awhile, but not that often. They were usually to busy doing higher rank missions, while he was stuck doing errands and occasionally cracking down on thieves.
Denkiteki’s friend laughed at him. At least he was keeping busy. And even though Denkiteki had been considered a prodigy, he shouldn’t have entered the Chunnin exam so young. He shouldn’t feel like he had fallen behind his teammates, heck they were all 15 when they became Chunnin. Denkiteki still had three more years before he was that age. Denkiteki smiled at that, and told his friend that he guessed he was just being a bit to hard on himself.
After they finished their ramen they went back to work, doing mostly the same stuff that they had before. Denkiteki would help carry a hinge or some other piece of the gate that was to be used as a replacement. Occasionally he would also have to help hold something done, but still for the most part he was just carrying things around.
It wasn’t until late afternoon that they finished much to Denkiteki’s dismay. He had hoped to get yet another mission before returning home, but it seemed like he was only going to do four. The others had been fairly quick and he had started early in the morning, but this one had taken awhile and had left him more fatigued than the others. He took his time returning to the kage office to receive his reward, and walked home slowly as well, though he had a smile on his face as he counted all of the money he had received.

Mission Name: Missing Lunch

Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 600
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 700 Ryo
Task: Someone has been stealing food from both the members of the village, citizen and shinobi alike, and the shops. Find out who said person is and report who the person is, and where he is hiding. Make sure to not be caught or else the person may run.
The next morning Denkiteki still ached from the previous day’s mission, but he was ready for yet another day full of missions. He had started to accumulate quite a bit of money, but it wasn’t enough for what he needed. He needed to get more than just the basic gear, he needed good custom made stuff, that would be much better than the leather crap he could buy at the shop. And he needed weapons built just for him, if he even wanted to use weapons. He wasn’t sure that there were many weapons that interested him. Yeah a sword and some knives would be good, but he didn’t think he would need anything special.
Denkiteki decided he would try and get another C-Rank mission. The last one had paid out quite well, even if it did tire him out by the time he was done. A thousand ryo on one job was sweet. He could only hope that the next mission he got would be anywhere near as good. Walking into the office, Denkiteki was excited to find a C-Rank mission waiting for him. Looking at the briefing, he wasn’t that disappointed with it. He had to find out who was stealing food from a number of citizens, including shinobi. Denkiteki found that amusing, that there were shinobi that were so oblivious that someone could just steal their food from them. Denkiteki wouldn’t allow anyone to do that to him.
There were a couple of places the thief seemed to frequent, so Denkiteki decided he would find one and wait there for the thief. It didn’t take him long to arrive, and once he did he sat on top of a nearby building and waited, keeping a close eye on every passerby. A few suspicious people walked by, but none of them seemed to be the guy, or girl, that was committing the crimes.
Eventually Denkiteki grew bored, and decided to try one of the other spots. As he got up however, he saw a small figure creep into the building from the back, and then left with a bag he hadn’t been carrying before. Thinking this was his guy, Denkiteki began to follow him, unsure as to whether he should confront him or not. Deciding that he might as well, Denkiteki moved close to the small figure, which must have been a kid, and tapped his shoulder. The kid nearly bolted, but Denkiteki grabbed his shoulder and the kid ended up falling.
Denkiteki put his foot on one of the kid’s arms to pin him down, while he searched through the bag, finding a lot of food in it. The kid tried to beg and plead with him, saying that it was for his family and friends. They were all really hungry and needed to eat. Denkiteki didn’t want to hear it. The kid was a thief, nothing he said changed that. He broke the law, and Denkiteki had been sent to catch him. He could tell his sob story to someone else, and maybe it would work on them, but not on Denkiteki. He didn’t really care. He had his own problems.
Grabbing the kid, Denkiteki made his way to the Kage’s office, a smirk on his face once again. He was going to get paid decently for the mission, and all he had to do was catch a brat. The kid couldn’t have been that much younger then Denkiteki, but he was really skinny and short, so Denkiteki carried him with ease. The young Genin could tell that he hadn’t eaten in awhile, but that wasn’t his problem. He was a shinobi, and soldier, not a charity. It wasn’t his job to care, just complete the mission.

Mission Name: Uh oh
Rank: C
Type: Intel
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 900
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 1000 Ryo
Task: The village hasn't been receiving shipments of resources from the farmers not too far from the village. The village shinobi are unable to make any contact with the farmers, your job is to go and find out what the trouble is, and make sure the village receives the shipments soon.
It had been two days since Denkiteki had gone to the island where the snakes had been, and it was still hard to believe. In the corner of his room was the scroll he had signed, sitting there, untouched since he had put it there after he had returned home. There were only two names in it, his and a snake named Katsuro. He had yet to summon the snake, even though he had promised to do it soon. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to; he just didn’t know when would be an appropriate time. He had yet to take any missions since signing the contract, and he didn’t think Katsuro would be okay with just hanging out or training.
Denkiteki decided that he should just start taking missions, and if he needed Katsuro, he would summon him. The snake said he would be ready at all times, he hoped the snake had been telling the truth. It was early morning. He wondered when the snake woke up and when it went to sleep. It would be terrible luck if he summoned Katsuro just to have him sleep in front of him all coiled up.
Denkiteki decided it didn’t matter, the snake had given him his word. And if he didn’t need the snake for his mission, it didn’t really matter did it? Nodding to himself, Denkiteki made his way down to the Mizukage’s office. He decided he would take another C-Rank mission, they actually weren’t that hard, and the rewards were great. He had made a lot of money off of the first two he had gotten, hopefully he would get paid on his next one as well. Finding a decent C-Rank among the requested mission, Denkiteki smiled when he saw that it had a 1000 Ryo reward.
The mission was simple enough he thought. There was some farmers that hadn’t been sending shipments of food and other such things that farmers grow, so Denkiteki had to go check it out. He wondered if something had happened to the farmers, it had been a few days since they had last made contact with the village. His first thought was that the farmers had maybe gotten attacked, but that wasn’t the only possible conclusion. Leaving the Mizukage’s office, Denkiteki began to head towards the village gates so that he could get his mission started.
The mission briefing provided him with a map to the farmers, thankfully. He would have been lost without it. As he left the gates of the village, Denkiteki made his way down the road, making sure to follow the map. He knew the land around Kirigakure well enough, but he still didn’t want to spend a few minutes or more finding his way if he got lost for a little while. Then he would feel stupid, and that might affect his performance on the mission. The sun was barely peaking above the horizon as Denktieki made his way towards the farm, it must have been very early in the morning.
Denkiteki wore a jacket over his normal attire. It was actually chilly that morning, to his surprise. Normally he could stand the weather without getting to cold. It didn’t matter though, he wouldn’t let the weather get to him. He had to finish the mission, and do a good job. Being cold was just something he would have to deal with.
The road to the farm was fairly long, and uneventful. The road was wide, and looked like it had seen a lot of travelers in it’s day. The road had many tracks in it from carts and feet, all of which slowly made their way down the road one way or another. None of them seemed to come to any sudden halts or make any sharp turns, Denkiteki couldn’t see any signs of a bandit attack. So he knew the farmers had not been attacked on their way to the village, which was a good start. He already learned something and he hadn’t even arrived at the farm.
It took him nearly an hour in total to arrive at the farm. He was a little surprised, when he saw that from the outside it didn’t appear to be damaged at all, or ill kept. There were even lights inside the house, which surprised Denkiteki greatly. Taking out a kunai, Denkiteki made his way towards the house, somewhat confused. Was it some sort of trap? If the farmers were alright, why hadn’t they sent any word to the village? Denkiteki was a little worried now.
Approaching the door, Denkiteki knocked with his right arm, his left behind his back with the kunai in his hand. He braced himself for a fight when he heard footsteps towards the door, but relaxed when he saw a little girl. The girl looked at him confused, but then noticed his headband, and took him inside, Denkiteki silently put his kunai away as the girl dragged him into the house, not wanting to startle anyone.
They entered a small room, in which there were three other individuals. A young man and an older woman sat near a bed, which had an old man lying in it. When they saw him, both the woman and the young man got up and began apologizing for not sending word for the past few days, that they had been taking care of the man of the household, who was the head farmer as well. Denkiteki looked at the man a moment, and then nodded, saying that he would go tell the village that everything was alright and that he was just sick. They thanked him, and waved to him as he left to return to the village.

Mission Name: To the pits
Rank: C
Type: Intel
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 700
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 500 Ryo
Task: There have been reports that there have been animal fights somewhere in the village, your job is to find out where the arena for the fights are and to investigate it, try not to be caught.
Denkiteki’s last mission hadn’t required Katsuro, it had been very simple, and had not been dangerous at all. This one seemed like it could be dangerous, but he wasn’t sure if bringing a giant snake with him would be a good idea. The mission was to infiltrate an animal fighting pit, and he didn’t think Katsuro would do well there.
He had entertained the idea of taking Katsuro in there with him, and then pretending to be a contestant. But that would attract way too much attention to him. Not to mention Katsuro might kill one of the other animals if he did get in a fight, that would be bad. The whole point of the mission was to work towards stopping the fighters from having their animals get hurt and killed, causing one or more animals death would not be good. Deciding that he would check on Katsuro however, Denkiteki did the hand seals his father taught him, and in a cloud of smoke Katsuro appeared.
“Are we finally going on a mission?” The snake asked, he seemed both curious and excited, Denkiteki felt bad having to tell him no.
“No I was just checking up on you. I do have a mission, but it doesn’t look to dangerous. I’m saving you for the tough missions, where there might be more then just some street kids to beat up.” Denkiteki said with a smirk, trying to make sure Katsuro didn’t feel bad. The snake nodded, told him thanks for checking in on him, and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Glad that his partner didn’t seem to upset about not going on some pathetic mission, Denkiteki began making his way towards the location his briefing had described as one of the arenas. He dressed as a street rat, wearing clothes that he had bought and dirtied up himself. He wore a large hoodie that looked like it had been passed down to him, and his jeans were baggy as well. He felt very uncomfortable in the clothing, but he couldn’t complain. He had to wear them so that he wouldn’t be exposed as a shinobi.
It was easy getting into the pit, the man out front just waved him in without asking for a code or anything. This pit must not have been very big, or at least they thought they were too sneaky for the shinobi to learn about them. Well they were quite wrong.
The event had already begun by the time Denkiteki entered the pit, a snake and a boar were in a small area in the middle, fighting each other while spectators and ‘trainers’ threw objects at them, egging them on. Katsuro would eat both of them in one go. Denkiteki thought with a smirk as he moved amongst the crowd, looking at all of the faces. He found a leader board, and took mental notes of all of the names. In order to not seem suspicious, Denkiteki spoke with some of the others in the pit, acting like someone who had recently heard about it from a friend. He also made a few bets, though the money he used was actually all fake and could be traced by a special division of shinobi later that day.
Denkiteki didn’t win any money, but he was fine with that. He didn’t come here to make money off of animals getting killed, but off the information he would be giving the higher ranking shinobi when he got back to the Kages office. The event ended a few hours after Denkiteki arrived, and many of the trash that had made bets left with their winnings, or lack of.
Denkiteki decided he should go as well, and left the building. He said goodbye to a few ‘friends’ he had made, keeping up the act. He wondered if he would be involved with the bust later, which would occur later that day when the trash got together again for another fight. It would be interesting to see the look on those adults and kids faces when they saw him with his headband on. Denkiteki smirked as he made his way to the Kages office, making sure he wasn’t followed. He ditched the outfit in an alley and went the rest of the way there from the rooftops.

Task: Reports have come in on something or someone lurking in the sewers, investigate to make sure everything is alright.
Denkiteki sat in the Kage’s office, an unopened scroll in his lap. It had to be a joke, there was no way the scroll in front of him was real, and was for him. It was impossible, he was just a Genin. Not only that, but he wasn’t even on a team. The scroll was probably meant for a Chuunin, and Denkiteki had received it by accident.
There’s no way. I mean,I know I have been taking some serious missions lately, and I have done well on them, but none of them were a B-Rank! That is for a team led by a Chuunin, not a kid like me by myself. Despite his worry, that the mission would be dangerous, Denkiteki was also excited, and proud. He was just a Genin, and a young one at that, and he had been given a B-Rank mission, that he had to complete by himself. He smirked, there were only a few who were allowed to do such missions alone, at his age, and now he was one of them.
Taking a deep breath, Denkiteki opened the scroll. He began running his finger through the seal and feeling it break. Slowly, he opened it up revealing his new mission. It seemed dangerous, not because of what was in the briefing, but because there wasn’t much information given it. There is something in the sewers? I haven’t heard about anything like that.
Denkiteki wondered what could be down there, some weird mutated monster? Or was it just some strange beast that had accidentally made it’s way into the sewer and couldn’t find it’s way out? Denkiteki didn’t know, but he was sure going to find out.
Leaving the Mizukage’s office, Denkiteki made his way towards the location specified in the scroll, where he would enter the sewer. There was also a map of the sewer inside the scroll, so it would be easy for him to navigate.
Entering the sewer, Denkiteki nearly gagged as the stench of the place assaulted his nose. It was horrible. Why would anything ever try to live down here? Was all he could think as he made his way through the sewers. He kept one hand on his Wakizashi, a sword slightly smaller then your average katana. It was said that samurai used them as off hand weapons, but Denkiteki was just fine using one as his main hand weapon. It was only a few inches smaller, and the smaller size suited him better, as it made the weapon easier to carry and also easier to use. He kept the weapon’s sheathe parallel to the ground and strapped to his back, with the handle sticking out on his left side. This allowed him to quickly unsheathe it with his left hand, and return it easily as well.
Denkiteki traveled for a few minutes alone, not hearing the sounds of any strange beats anywhere. The horrible smell and his inability to find the damn thing made him grow impatient and irritated, despite his normally happy an optimistic behavior. This sucks, I cannot wait to get the hell out of here and go home, I am sick of this place already! Complaining in his head, Denkiteki walked like this for even longer before he finally heard a strange noise. Suddenly alert, Denkiteki began to listen closer as he heard what seemed like movement getting closer to him.
Whatever it was, it had to be big, and seemed to be around a corner in the sewer. An idea forming in his head, Denkiteki removed his hand from the sword. Doing a few handseals, an illusion of Denkiteki appeared beside him. The clone quickly set off running, and as it passed the corner a giant beats jumped out towards it.
Denkiteki watched as a giant alligator somehow leapt forward and attempted to consume the illusion of Denkiteki. The thing was huge! Gripping his sword once again, Denkiteki pulled it from his sheathe, holding the weapon backhanded. Channeling chakra into his feet, Denkiteki flashed forward, moving at an untraceable speed. Thanks to the Body Flicker, Denkiteki landed on the beasts back before it even noticed he was there. Gripping the sword with both hands, Denkiteki brought the blade down and into the beast’s back, where he believed its spine was. He drove it in until it hit something hard before pulling it out as the beats began to squirm around in pain. Channeling his chakra into his feet again, he body flickered a few meters away from the beast. He was behind it, so when it tried to turn to face him, it couldn’t because the sewer tunnel was too big.
Denkiteki smirked, this beats would be an easy kill. Deciding to finish it, he jumped onto the roof of the sewer so that the alligator couldn’t hit him with its tail and ran until it was above the beast’s head, dropping down form the ceiling, he brought his blade through the beasts eye and into it’s brain, killing it without breaking his blade. As the beats died, he removed his sword, frowning as the amount of blood on his new blade. Pulling a piece of fabric from his belt, he cleaned the blade off with it, before dropping it onto the dead body of the beast. Sheathing his blade, he made note of the location of the corpse on his map before returning to the surface, so he could turn his mission in.

Mission Name: Endangered Species
Rank: B
Type: Free endangered animals.
Character Requirements: None.
Word Count Requirements: 1500
Repeatable? Yes
Reward:2000 ryo
Task: Poachers have managed to kidnap a few endangered species from their habitats, locate and free the endangered animals before any harm can come to them. It would be preferred to use no violence, however if needed, and only if needed you can take the animals by force.
It had been a few days since Denkiteki had taken a mission. He had been busy training, and trying to put together a team. Unfortunately he hadn’t finished putting his team together, so he was going to have to do another one alone.
He dressed for battle, he had starting to be sent on a lot of combat missions, so he had begun to stock up on weapons. He still wore his normal street clothes, but now he had a kunai pouch strapped to his leg. A tool pouch, which contained shuriken and some medical supplies, was attached to his belt. He had two swords with him, a Wakizashi and a special Ninjato. He had bought the Ninjato cheap, but it seemed to have some sort of strange ability that made him move a bit faster. The Wakizashi was on his belt, nearly parallel to the ground and on his back. The hilt stuck out on his left side, allowing him to unsheathe it and hold it backhanded easily.
The ninjato was on his back, the hilt pocking out over his left shoulder. Both of the small swords were easily accessible to his left arm, so if he lost one he could quickly use the other. His right hand was useless when it came to using a sword, so he wouldn’t even attempt to duel wield the weapons.
Denkiteki’s headband was still in its place on his forehead. Denkiteki looked at himself in the mirror for a moment before he left, I look a lot more like a shinobi now. he thought, a smile flashing across his face for a moment. He only looked at himself for a few moments before making his way downstairs.
His father and mother were eating breakfast as he made his way for the door, both of them were eating their breakfast. He had made his own earlier, so his mom didn’t attempt to nag him as he left. Her eyes did follow him as he made his way for the door, she looked sad. It’s because I am going to be fighting now, instead of just retrieving things and trying to help people. Denkiteki thought, feeling bad. He didn’t want his mother to worry about him.
Denkiteki’s father didn’t share her worry however, and smiled at Denkiteki as he left. He seemed proud of his son, who was beginning to excel as a shinobi, like he had a few years ago as well. Is he proud because I am walking the path he told me to follow, or the path that he went on?
Denkiteki still didn’t know how he felt about his father being a former assassin. And he didn’t know how he felt about himself either. He had wanted to be like his father for the past few years, and now he found out that the things that made him want to be like his father were all lies. And did he still want to follow the path that his father had set out for him, did he still want to be a medical-nin, knowing that his father had never truly been one until after he was born? Would he follow his father’s true path, would he become an assassin and kill people who were a threat to the village? Or would he find his own way, forge his own path? He didn’t know.
Walking towards the Mizukage’s office, Denkiteki shook his head. You have to go get your mission idiot, not think about your future. You can do that shit later, right now you should be thinking about all of the money you will be making today! He thought, trying to ignore his worries and questions, and think about something positive.
When he did arrive at the office, he was in a much better mood, and was ready to take a mission. He hoped it would be a B-Rank, or maybe even an A-Rank. He didn’t dare hope that he would be assigned to an S-rank mission, he knew he wasn’t ready for one of those yet, not alone. He found a B-rank mission waiting for him, and happily took it. Eager to start his mission, he opened the scroll and quickly read through it.
Poachers? That’s interesting. I doubt they will be much trouble though. This mission shouldn’t be to bad. He thought, smirking as he saw the reward, That is nice, I’ll be able to buy some nice equipment with that money. I wonder if I should use Katsuro for this mission? He’s been ready to fight for some time now. He thought, before decding that he would use Katsuro on the mission. Closing the scroll, Denkiteki readjusted his gear before leaving the office again, ready to go find those poachers.
They were located somewhere on the main island, which Denkiteki was grateful for. He wouldn’t need to travel on a boat or anything like that. They had captured some nearly extinct animals, possibly so that they could take them to the main land and sell them. They had been spotted a few hours before Denkiteki had taken the mission, and were seemingly trying to find a boat to get them to the mainland.
Jumping from tree to tree, the wind whipping his hair back from his face, Denkiteki smirked. He doubted they would find a boat before he got to them, the island was small and very few of the men who traveled to and from the island would take any cargo last minute, especially if that cargo was illegal.
He decided to start his search at one of the larger docks, though he paused before he did so. He wanted to ask questions, but if there was someone that would help the poachers, Denkiteki doubted they would be willing to talk to a young shinobi who was armed.
Maybe I should use the transformation jutsu? Pretend to be some guy working with the poachers. Act like I got left behind, and I’m looking for them. If there is someone working with them, he might try and help me out. The idea didn’t seem to bad, but at the same time, what if there was an honest sailor who would give him information if h was dressed as a shinobi, but not as some thug?
The shadow clone jutsu! That will make this work. I’ll walk around as a shinobi, while my clone transform into some thug and tries to get information from some of the shadier sailors. This will work out great. Denkiteki thought, smirking. Finding a place to hide, he created his shadow clone. The clone nodded at him quickly before transforming itself into a thug that looked nothing like Denkiteki. Both smirking, they left their hiding spot from different spots and made their way towards the dock.
Both Denkiteki and the clone asked around for a little while, trying to find out where the poachers were. Denkiteki quickly found out that they had tried to find a boat leaving the island, but as far as most of the people he talked to knew they had gotten no luck. His clone however, quickly found the trail of the poachers, finding a man who had sent them after another sailor who would be willing to take them across for enough money.
Denkiteki was walking away from another sailor who knew nothing when a wave of information made its way into his mind. His shadow clone had found the poachers, well, they had found him. Glad t wasn’t the real me.. Denkiteki thought as he made his way towards the place where his clone had been stabbed, moving quickly.
He found the man who had stabbed his clone amongst a group of others, who were making their way towards a boat. It looks like all of the cargo had yet to be put on board, Denkiteki smirked. He sat on top of a roof as he watched the group make it way towards the boat, they seemed to be in a hurry, probably because they had killed a shadow clone, and figured that Denkiteki was nearby.
You would be right. Now the question is, should I kill them? There’s 12 of them, and they are all dangerous most likely. If I don’t try to kill them I might die instead. he thought, his smile disappearing. I am a shinobi, I must do anything I can to complete the mission. he decided, and he made his move.
The poachers didn’t hear Denkiteki as he ran across the rooftop, and didn’t seem him until after he jumped and landed right in front of the boat. Doing quick handseals, Denkiteki smashed his palm into the ground, and a wall of earth began to make its way out of the water, flipping the boat over. There was a single yell as the boat flipped, but the man from who it originated had managed to get out from under the boat, and his face broke the water as he began swim towards the shore.
The poachers were not in a good mood, and a few of them pulled out knives. Denkiteki looked towards them all, his expression somber and serious, “If you give up the animals now, you can leave and I won’t follow you. But if you try and fight me, I will kill you.”
One of the poachers seemed a bit worried, but many of the others found it amusing that a kid was going to try and scare them. Denkiteki wished that he was older, maybe they would have left if he was, but now he had to kill them.
Doing another few hand seals, Denkiteki smashed his palm into the ground again, and Katsuro appeared. The snake was large, and he looked towards the poachers, what looked to be a smile appearing on his face, “Finally! I get to have some fun.”
Now the poachers seemed scared, but they didn’t run. Well that didn’t work either…
Pulling out his ninjato, Denkiteki charged. Katsuro was behind him, moving at a surprising speed despite his size. One of the bandits stepped forward and moved to stab Denkiteki, but the young Genin got him first.
Blood splattered onto Denkiteki’s face as his sword passed through the man’s flesh and into his heart. The organ continued to try and pump blood through the man’s body, causing blood to pour out of the man’s chest. Denkiteki could feel every movement of the heart as it moved his sword. He looked the man in the eyes, and watched as he died. As he removed the sword from the man, Katsuro moved past him, and attacked the other bandits.
Denkiteki and Katsuro ended up killing seven of the twelve bandits, one had been paralyzed and the others deciding to flee. Denkiteki stood amongst the dead with his ninjato still drawn, and covered in blood. His expression was blank as he looked over the bodies of the men he had killed, as well as the ones hat Katsuro has killed as well. He felt empty, that was the only way to describe it. Where he thought he should have felt sadness or remorse, there was nothing there. Cleaning his sword Denkiteki released the endangered animals and made his way back towards the village of Kiri.
