A Gift (Ayama and Navi)
Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:29 am
Neither Vretyel or Ayama were at the usual Fire Nation meeting place when Navi arrived, and instead it seemed a battle had taken place. After a bit of searching he had heard reports of Vretyel successfully making it back to the Leaf, but Ayama was still missing. Immediately Navi began searching, looking in a large radius around there usual meeting place.
Finally he found her, leaning in the shade against the trunk of an old tree. Navi appeared next to her, looking over her body head to toe with his Navagan and checking for vital signs. Her chakra was shockingly low, normally a person would pass out long before having depleted their energy level to this extreme. Upon closer inspection Navi's heart skipped a beat and his teeth gritted together. He recognized these marks on her skin from back when he was a kid. All of it made sense as he realized why her chakra reserve was so shockingly small. These were marks left on skin after a Gentle Fist Style attack, meaning a member of the Hyuuga had attacked her.
Navi was furious, but immediately pushed his anger aside, he needed to learn what happened here. The thought of having lost Ayama overtook this fury though, and a horrible fear engulfed him. With a shaky hand, Navi pressed two fingers against the side of her neck, feeling for a pulse. She would be alive... she HAD to be alive.
Navi exhaled a deep sigh of relief as he felt a slow beat, it seemed Ayama had just fallen unconscious.
Navi crouched over Ayama's limp and unconscious body, his head pressed up against hers. He didn't know what had happened, but at this moment he didn't care. He was so elated that Ayama was alive that he got caught up in the moment. Without realizing it he gently pressed his lips against her forehead, holding the kiss briefly before pulling himself away. When his brain finally caught up with what he was doing Navi yanked himself back.
Whew... thank god she's unconscious....
Navi reached behind his back and pulled out Ayama's Heaven's Sorrow Ninjato, which he had found at the Fire Nation Team's normal meeting place. He placed her sheathed sword on her lap, and sighed before taking a sheathed katana from his back as well. Navi took out a piece of paper and wrote a quick message down, placing it on the hilt of the katana. He would lay the sword in her lap with the old sword, leaving the message and both of her swords lying there for when she got up.
She was safe and alive now, that's all that mattered. She would wake up in a few minutes, but Navi had other duties to attend to. They had scheduled a private training meeting for tomorrow and they could talk then. Navi smiled and made a simple handsign before vanishing in a small cloud of smoke.
When she woke up both swords would be criss-crossed on her lap. The new katana would have the small paper tag dangling off of the hilt, with a simple note written on it.
Take better care of yourself,

The sun shone in her eyes as she slowly awoke. She remained still staring blankly at the blue and cloudless sky before she realized what it meant. She was alive! She had escaped! She glanced around the clearing quickly, hoping to see, Vretyel, but the other genin was nowhere to be seen. She frowned, had he left her all alone in the forest? Not smart. Not in her weakened state.
She moved forward, grimacing as her internal organs protested against the movement. She was injured badly, but some of the ache had faded. Her chakra system was running again, something she was thankful for.
Tentivly she reached for her bond, hoping it wasn't destroyed hoping Hisoka was fine. A breathy sigh she hadn't even known she was holding escaped her as she brushed her consciousness against his. The feline barely stirred, his only reaction to her mind being a gentle wave of happiness. He was injured and would be down for a while but he would recover. Smiling fully now she moved to stand when a weight on her legs stopped her. Blinking she looked down at the two blades lying crossed on her lap.
She recognized her ninjato, but the katana was new to her. Blinking she reached out and grasped it, pulling it to eye level for closer inspection. It was then that she noticed the note. Grasping it she turned it so she could read the scrawl.
Her smile turned small and tender her eyes softening. Her heart gave a little warm leap at the mere sight of the note. Even if Vretyel had left her alone she should have known Navi would find and watch over her. He was more like the angels in her fathers stories than he knew.
The small secretive smile still on her face she slowly stood, fighting back the pain and slung the katana over her back. With another glance at the note she pushed it into her now empty kunai pouch before she grabbed her ninjato and fully stood. With a small sigh she turned towards her village, beginning the long trek to her current residence. Soon enough she would have to tell Navi the extent of what happened, if he hadn't already guessed from her injuries. Soon enough she would have to face Vretyel ad explain to him what he had seen and the importance of keeping it a secret.
Someday she would have to face that bastard Hyuuga again.
But those were in the future, they were far off. For now she would go and rest, heal up and continue training. Her fist clenched she her teeth gritted, next time she met that bastard she wouldn't be so weak. She would be strong, she would fight him off. She would kill him.
With that thought and Navi's note filling her head she walked back to the sand, determined to never fall prey again.
